In recent decades, with the expansion of distributed energy generation technologies and the increasing need for more flexibility and efficiency in energy distribution systems, microgrids have been considered a promising innovative solution for local energy supply and enhancing resilience against network fluctuations. One of the basic challenges in the operation of microgrids is the optimal management of voltage and frequency in the network, which has been the subject of extensive research in the field of microgrid operational optimization. The energy demand is considered a crucial element for energy management due to its fluctuating nature over the day. The use of demand response strategies for energy management is one of the most important factors in dealing with renewables. These strategies enable better energy management in microgrids, thereby improving system efficiency and stability. Given the complexity of optimization problems related to microgrid management, evolutionary optimization algorithms such as the Imperialist Competitive Algorithm (ICA) and Genetic Algorithm (GA) have gained great attention. These algorithms enable solving high-complexity optimization problems by considering various constraints and multiple objectives. In this paper, both ICA and GA, as well as their hybrid application, are used to significantly enhance the voltage regulation in microgrids. The integration of optimization techniques with demand response strategies improves the overall system efficiency and stability. In this paper, a novel switched/modulated capacitor filter scheme is proposed for enhancing vehicle‐to‐house (V2G) battery‐charging stations utilized in electric vehicles (EVs). The novel approach is tested on two controllers with a classical optimized PID controller. The technique, which employs modified multimode weighted charging modes for fast charging, improved power quality, and minimal inrush currents, results in reduced voltage transients on the DC side and less harmonics on the AC side. An intercoupled DC‐AC capacitor interface that features dual complementary switching modes is used by the switched modulated filter as a way to provide optimal pulsing in both the tuned‐arm filter and capacitive compensator modes of operations. This switched intercoupled AC‐DC filter compensation approach leads to enhanced power usage in EVs, along with lower AC‐DC voltage transients and inrush currents. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Thermal Energy Storage (TES) plays a pivotal role in the fire protection of Li-ion batteries, especially for the high-voltage (HV) battery systems in Electrical Vehicles (EVs). This study covers the application of TES in mitigating thermal runaway risks during different battery charging/discharging conditions known as Vehicle-to-grid (V2G) and Grid-to-vehicle (G2V). Through controlled simulations in Simulink, this research models real-world scenarios to analyze the effectiveness of TES in controlling battery conditions under various environmental conditions. This study also integrates Machine Learning (ML) techniques to utilize the produced data by the simulation model and to predict any probable thermal spikes and enhance the system reliability, focusing on crucial factors like battery temperature, current, or State of charge (SoC). Feature engineering is also employed to identify the key parameters among all features that are considered for this study. For a broad comparison among different models, three different ML techniques, logistic regression, support vector machine (SVM), and Naïve Bayes, have been used alongside their hybrid combination to determine the most accurate one for the related topic. This study concludes that SoC is the most significant factor affecting thermal management while grid power consumption has the least impact. Additionally, the findings demonstrate that logistic regression outperforms other methods, with the improving feature to be used in the hybrid models as it can increase their efficiency due to its linearity capture capability. The integration of renewable energy sources (RES) into smart grids has been considered crucial for advancing towards a sustainable and resilient energy infrastructure. Their integration is vital for achieving energy sustainability among all clean energy sources, including wind, solar, and hydropower. This review paper provides a thoughtful analysis of the current status of the smart grid, focusing on integrating various RES, such as wind and solar, into the smart grid. This review highlights the significant role of RES in reducing greenhouse gas emissions and reducing traditional fossil fuel reliability, thereby contributing to environmental sustainability and empowering energy security. Moreover, key advancements in smart grid technologies, such as Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI), Distributed Control Systems (DCS), and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems, are explored to clarify the related topics to the smart grid. The usage of various technologies enhances grid reliability, efficiency, and resilience are introduced. This paper also investigates the application of Machine Learning (ML) techniques in energy management optimization within smart grids with the usage of various optimization techniques. The findings emphasize the transformative impact of integrating RES and advanced smart grid technologies alongside the need for continued innovation and supportive policy frameworks to achieve a sustainable energy future. Renewable energy resources are playing a crucial role in minimizing fossil fuel emissions. Integrating machine learning techniques with tidal power forecasting could greatly enhance the accuracy and reliability of predictions, which is crucial for efficient energy production and management. A hybrid approach combining different methods often yields better results than relying on individual techniques. The accuracy of tidal current power is very important, especially for smart grid applications. This work proposes hybrid adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system (ANFIS) with the Kalman filter (KF) and a neuro-wavelet (WNN) for tidal current speed, direction, and power forecasting. The turbine used in this study is driven by a direct drive permanent magnet synchronous generator (DDPMSG). The predictions of individual and hybrid models including the ANFIS, the Kalman filter, and the WNN for tidal current speed and the power it generates are compared with another dataset as a way of validation which is the tidal currents direction. Also, other published work results in the literature are compared to the proposed work. Different hybrid models are proposed for smart grid integration. The results of this work indicate that the hybrid model of the WNN and the ANFIS for tidal current power or speed forecasting has the highest performance compared to all other models. Nonlinear loads, crucial components of power system grids, pose a challenge due to harmonics injection. This work tackles this issue with a novel modified green plug–switched filter compensation scheme using fuzzy logic controllers. This innovative scheme presented in this paper utilizes dual action pulse width modulation to ensure switching functions from harmonics reduction and capacitive compensation for inrush nonlinear-type AC loads. The scheme's multi-loop regulations and online switching effectively handle dynamic-type slow-acting inrush, motorized- and other rectifier-type nonlinear loads, enhancing the power factor, power quality at source and load buses, and reducing the total harmonics distortion at the key source and sensitive nonlinear load buses. A simulation model in the MATLAB/SIMULINK-2023b software environment demonstrates the efficiency of the proposed FACTS technique. The modulated dual mode switched filter-capacitive compensation scheme controlled by a fuzzy logic controller ensures less harmonics distortion and improved voltage stabilization. The results show that voltage, current, active power, reactive power, power factor regulation, and effective energy utilization are achievable with the designed Flexible AC Transmission System-Modulated Filter Capacitor Compensation–Switched Filter Compensator (FACTS-MFCC-SFC).
