A collection of 21 ethanol-preserved specimens of enchytraeids collected in first order streams in São Paulo State, Brazil, was whole-mounted on slides and investigated under light microscope. Eight species taxa were distinguished, belonging to Achaeta, Guaranidrilus, and Marionina. Five species could be named, one of them tentatively: Achaeta neotropica Černosvitov, 1937, Achaeta singularis Schmelz, 2008, Guaranidrilus oiepe Righi, 1974, Marionina argentea (Michaelsen, 1889) s.l., Marionina cf. seminuda Xie & Rota, 2001. Three further unnamed species taxa of Guaranidrilus were distinguished; two of them may be new species. The presence of sexually mature specimens of A. singularis allowed an emendation of the original description which was based on juvenile specimens. Malaria represents a challenging global public health task, with Plasmodium vivax being the predominant parasite in Brazil and the most widely distributed species throughout the world. Developing a vaccine against P. vivax malaria demands innovative strategies, and targeting gametocyte antigens shows promise for blocking transmission prevention. Among these antigens, Pvs47, expressed in gametocytes, has shown remarkable efficacy in transmission blocking. However, remains underexplored in vaccine formulations. This study employed in silico methods to comprehensively characterize the physicochemical properties, structural attributes, epitope presence, and conservation profile of Pvs47. Additionally, we assessed its antigenicity in individuals exposed to malaria in endemic Brazilian regions. Recombinant protein expression occurred in a eukaryotic system, and antigenicity was evaluated using immunoenzymatic assays. The responses of naturally acquired IgM, total IgG, and IgG subclasses were analyzed in three groups of samples from Amazon region. Notably, all samples exhibited anti-Pvs47 IgM and IgG antibodies, with IgG3 predominating. Asymptomatic patients demonstrated stronger IgG responses and more diverse subclass responses. Anti-Pvs47 IgM and IgG responses in symptomatic individuals decrease over time. Furthermore, we observed a negative correlation between anti-Pvs47 IgM response and gametocytemia in samples of symptomatic patients, indicating a gametocyte-specific response. Additionally, negative correlation was observed among anti-Pvs47 antibody response and hematocrit levels. Furthermore, comparative analysis with widely characterized blood antigens, PvAMA1 and PvMSP119, revealed that Pvs47 was equally or more recognized than both proteins. In addition, there is positive correlation between P. vivax blood asexual and sexual stage immune responses. In summary, our study unveils a significant prevalence of anti-Pvs47 antibodies in diverse Amazonian samples and the importance of IgM response for gametocytes depuration. These findings regarding the in silico characterization and antigenicity of Pvs47 provide crucial insights for potential integration into P. vivax vaccine formulations.

The campos rupestres form a mosaic of rocky savannas concentrated mainly along the Espinhaço chain, on theBrazilian shield. Though the Serra de São José lies over 100 km to the south of the Espinhaço chain, the camporupestre flora of this small range harbors several endemic plant taxa. The provided checklist is the result of two decadesof floristic research complemented with data from herbaria and literature. The flora is compared with the results ofseveral other pertinent surveys. A total of 1,144 vascular plant species, representing 50.3 species/km2, were documentedto date in the São José range, representing a species-richness per unit area over five times greater than other knowncampo rupestre floras. The most species-rich families were the Asteraceae (126 species), Orchidaceae (106),Melastomataceae (63), Leguminosae (60), Cyperaceae (45), Poaceae (41), Rubiaceae (37), Myrtaceae (28),Bromeliaceae (27), Eriocaulaceae (23), Lamiaceae (23), and Malpighiaceae (22).

Rare side effects have been seen with the BNT162b2 SARS-CoV 2 vaccine.Case Presentation: We present the case of a 45-year-old female patient who developed an acute kidney injury needing urgent hemodialysis one week after the second administration of the BNT162b2 SARS-CoV 2 vaccine. She developed a macular rash on her lower limbs and palms as well. A kidney biopsy was performed 10 days after vaccine inoculation, diagnosing acute interstitial nephritis and acute tubular necrosis with cellular casts. The patient was treated with three corticosteroid pulses followed by daily prednisolone. We witnessed clinical improvement 4 days after the initial corticosteroid treatment with progressive recovery of kidney function and hemodialysis withdrawal. After 2 weeks, the patient had recovered her kidney function. Immunophenotyping was performed, diagnosing a hypersensitivity to the vaccine and the polyethylene glycol excipient.Conclusion: Patients may develop acute reactions to vaccines. In this case, symptoms seem to correlate significantly with its inoculation and, although this case had a favourable outcome, these side effects must be made aware for clinicians and patients.Keywords: acute kidney injury, acute interstitial nephritis, proteinuria, COVID-19 vaccine
