A geometric definition of news tensor on null hypersurfaces in four space-time dimensions is presented. When the conformal Einstein field equations hold, this news tensor yields the correct expression for the radiative components of the rescaled Weyl tensor at infinity with vanishing cosmological constant in arbitrary conformal gauge. Also, a generalised transport equation for the Geroch tensor is derived. Important differences between null hypersurfaces in the bulk of the space-time and null infinity with vanishing cosmological constant are reviewed, and their impact on the role of the news is discussed., Comment: 25 pages

3. Analysis of gravitational radiation generated by type D black holes with positive cosmological constant

The criterion for existence of gravitational radiation at conformal infinity in the presence of a positive cosmological constant is applied to a general family of exact solutions representing generic (pairs of) black holes of algebraic type D. Our analysis shows that only accelerating black holes generate gravitational radiation measurable at infinity. This very satisfactory result confirms the goodness of the criterion. To that end, a new metric form of the family of exact type D black holes is constructed -- including any cosmological constant and a (double-aligned) non-null electromagnetic field -- whose expression is suitable for investigation of the asymptotic structure of this large family of spacetimes. The family depends on seven physical parameters, namely $m$, $a$, $l$, $\alpha$, $e$, $g$, and $\Lambda$ that characterize mass, specific angular momentum parameter, NUT parameter, acceleration, electric and magnetic charges, and the cosmological constant, respectively., Comment: 35 pages, 5 figures

4. Distributed multi-UAV shield formation based on virtual surface constraints

This paper proposes a method for the deployment of a multi-agent system of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) as a shield with potential applications in the protection of infrastructures. The shield shape is modeled as a quadric surface in the 3D space. To design the desired formation (target distances between agents and interconnections), an algorithm is proposed where the input parameters are just the parametrization of the quadric and the number of agents of the system. This algorithm guarantees that the agents are almost uniformly distributed over the virtual surface and that the topology is a Delaunay triangulation. Moreover, a new method is proposed to check if the resulting triangulation meets that condition and is executed locally. Because this topology ensures that the formation is rigid, a distributed control law based on the gradient of a potential function is proposed to acquire the desired shield shape and proofs of stability are provided. Finally, simulation and experimental results illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach.

5. Degrees of freedom of gravitational radiation with positive cosmological constant

Results on the isolation of the radiative degrees of freedom of the gravitational field with a positive cosmological constant in full General Relativity are put forward. Methods employed in a recent geometric characterisation of gravitational radiation are used and, inspired by Ashtekar's work on asymptotically flat space-times, a space of connections is defined. Ground differences emerge due to the space-like character of the conformal boundary, and one has to put into play a fundamental result by Friedrich concerning the initial value problem for space-times with a positive cosmological constant. Based on this, half of the radiative degrees of freedom are identified; remarkably, they utterly determine the gravitational radiation content for space-times with algebraically special rescaled Weyl tensor at infinity. Development of applications related to closed-loop control requires either testing on the field or on a realistic simulator, with the latter being more convenient, inexpensive, safe, and leading to shorter development cycles. To address that need, the present work introduces MVSim, a simulator for multiple vehicles or robots capable of running dozens of agents in simple scenarios, or a handful of them in complex scenarios. MVSim employs realistic physics-grounded friction models for tire-ground interaction, and aims at accurate and GPU-accelerated simulation of most common modern sensors employed in mobile robotics and autonomous vehicle research, such as depth and RGB cameras, or 2D and 3D LiDAR scanners. All depth-related sensors are able to accurately measure distances to 3D models provided by the user to define custom world elements. Efficient simulation is achieved by means of focusing on ground vehicles, which allows the use of a simplified 2D physics engine for body collisions while solving wheel-ground interaction forces separately. The core parts of the system are written in C++ for maximum efficiency, while Python, ROS 1, and ROS 2 wrappers are also offered for easy integration into user systems. A custom publish/subscribe protocol based on ZeroMQ (ZMQ) is defined to allow for multiprocess applications to access or modify a running simulation. A method for deriving the asymptotic behaviour of any physical field is presented. This leads to a geometrically meaningful derivation of the peeling properties for arbitrary values of the cosmological constant. Application to the outstanding case of the physical Weyl tensor provides the explicit form of all terms that determine its asymptotic behaviour along arbitrary lightlike geodesics. The results follow under the assumption of a conformal completion \`a la Penrose. This is the second of two papers that study the asymptotic structure of space-times with a non-negative cosmological constant $\Lambda$. This paper deals with the case $\Lambda >0$. Our approach is founded on the `tidal energies' built with the Weyl curvature and, specifically, we use the asymptotic super-Poynting vector computed from the rescaled Bel-Robinson tensor at infinity to provide a covariant, gauge-invariant, criterion for the existence, or absence, of gravitational radiation at infinity. The fundamental idea we put forward is that the physical asymptotic properties are encoded in $(\scri,h_{ab},D_{ab})$, where the first element of the triplet is a 3-dimensional manifold, the second is a representative of a conformal class of Riemannian metrics on $\scri$, and the third element is a traceless symmetric tensor field on $\scri$. We similarly propose a no-incoming radiation criterion based also on the triplet $(\scri,h_{ab},D_{ab})$ and on radiant supermomenta deduced from the rescaled Bel-Robinson tensor too. We search for news tensors and argue that any news-like object must be associated to, and depends on, 2-dimensional cross-sections of $\scri$. We identify one component of news for every such cross-section and present a general strategy to find the second component. We also introduce the concept of equipped $\scri$, consider the limit $\Lambda\rightarrow 0$ and apply all our results to selected exact solutions of Einstein Field Equations. This is the first of two papers devoted to the asymptotic structure of space-time in the presence of a non-negative cosmological constant $\Lambda$. This first paper is concerned with the case of $\Lambda =0$. Our approach is fully based on the tidal nature of the gravitational field and therefore on the `tidal energies' built with the Weyl curvature. In particular, we use the (radiant) asymptotic supermomenta computed from the rescaled Weyl tensor at infinity to provide a novel characterisation of radiation escaping from, or entering into, the space-time. Our new criterion is easy to implement and shown to be fully equivalent to the classical one based on the news tensor. One of its virtues is that its formulation can be easily adapted to the case with $\Lambda>0$ covered in the second paper. We derive the general energy-momentum-loss formulae including the matter terms and all factors associated to the choices of arbitrary foliation and of super-translation. Processing data streams arriving at high speed requires the development of models that can provide fast and accurate predictions. Although deep neural networks are the state-of-the-art for many machine learning tasks, their performance in real-time data streaming scenarios is a research area that has not yet been fully addressed. Nevertheless, there have been recent efforts to adapt complex deep learning models for streaming tasks by reducing their processing rate. The design of the asynchronous dual-pipeline deep learning framework allows to predict over incoming instances and update the model simultaneously using two separate layers. The aim of this work is to assess the performance of different types of deep architectures for data streaming classification using this framework. During cancer metastases, tumor cells migrate through the extracellular matrix (ECM) of connective tissues and traverse even smaller, sub-micron pores to spread to distant sites. The biophysical properties of cells, such as cellular deformability, are implicated in metastasis. In addition, tumor cells with mesenchymal phenotype tend to be more deformable than those with epithelial phenotype. Our current investigation of cellular mechanical phenotype or mechanotype builds on previously reported differences in acquired cisplatin-resistant ovarian adenocarcinoma cells. Our team screened the library of 1280 pharmacologically active compounds (LOPAC) to identify drugs that could reverse the inherent deformability of cisplatin-resistant cancer cells. We identified top hits that significantly decrease cell deformability of OVCAR5-cisplatin resistant (cisR) cells and analyze novel regulators of cellular deformability using high-throughput parallel microfiltration (PMF). We used Mergeomics, a bioinformatics approach to conduct meta-analysis across the molecular targets of the hits, their associated signaling pathways, and subnetwork neighbors, to predict regulators of cellular deformability, and validated these results experimentally. To assess cell deformability we used cellular filtration, where the percent retention represents the fraction of suspended cells retained over our micro-pore membrane filter following PMF. We confirmed the effects of key drivers in regulating cell deformability using pharmacologic and genetic manipulations. We also observed shared molecular mediators of cellular mechanotype, deformability, and invasion in breast and ovarian cancer cell lines, following treatment with another pharmacologically active agent, 4′-hydroxyacetophenone (4-HAP). 4-HAP is known to inhibit non-muscle myosin II (NM2), increasing cell stiffness and cortical tension. We discussed the functional interpretation of cellular deformability and overall cell mechanotype to obtain a mechanistic understanding of the mechanome and shared regulation of metastatic behaviors in breast and ovarian cancer cell lines. A novel criterion to determine the presence of gravitational radiation arriving to, or departing from, null infinity of any weakly asymptotically-simple space-time with vanishing cosmological constant is given. The quantities involved are geometric, of tidal nature, with good gauge behaviour and univocally defined at null infinity. The relationship with the classical characterisation using the News tensor is analysed in detail.
