Abstract

Giant cell arteritis (GCA) is the most frequent large vessel primary vasculitis in the elderly. Correct diagnosis and fast assessment are necessary to prevent complications as well as unnecessary treatments. Giant cell arteritis can present as classical cranial symptoms or as extracranial disease. Although temporal artery biopsy is still the gold standard, ultrasound (US) is gaining ground on evidence with good diagnostic performance as a first approach to support the clinical criteria. The "halo" sign is the most characteristic finding and should be a requisite for reporting an US assessment for GCA with a 43%-77% sensitivity and 89%-100% specificity, when compared to American College of Rheumatology 1990 criteria. Ultrasound is a cost-effective, noninvasive test that offers bed-side results. The need for an experienced sonographer and consensus on the methodology and interpretation of US is fundamental to reduce operator-dependent errors. The diagnostic US algorithm for GCA depends on the clinical scenarios, and in some cases it may be enough to confirm or discard the GCA diagnosis. 18. Tracking Federated Queries in the Linked Data

Abstract

Federated query engines allow data consumers to execute queries over the federation of Linked Data (LD). However, as federated queries are decomposed into potentially thousands of subqueries distributed among SPARQL endpoints, data providers do not know federated queries, they only know subqueries they process. Consequently, unlike warehousing approaches, LD data providers have no access to secondary data. In this paper, we propose FETA (FEderated query TrAcking), a query tracking algorithm that infers Basic Graph Patterns (BGPs) processed by a federation from a shared log maintained by data providers. Concurrent execution of thousand subqueries generated by multiple federated query engines makes the query tracking process challenging and uncertain. Experiments with Anapsid show that FETA is able to extract BGPs which, even in a worst case scenario, contain BGPs of original queries.

Abstract

Background: Hip fractures are prevalent among older people, often leading to reduced mobility, muscle loss, and bone density decline. Malnutrition exacerbates the prognosis post surgery. This study aimed to evaluate the impact of a 12-week regimen of a high-calorie, high-protein oral supplement with β-hydroxy-β-methylbutyrate (HC-HP-HMB-ONS) on nutritional status, daily activities, and compliance in malnourished or at-risk older patients with hip fractures receiving standard care. Subjects and Methods: A total of 270 subjects ≥75 years of age, residing at home or in nursing homes, malnourished or at risk of malnutrition, and post hip fracture surgery, received HC-HP-HMB-ONS for 12 weeks. Various scales and questionnaires assessed outcomes. Results: During the 12 weeks of follow-up, 82.8% consumed ≥75% of HC-HP-HMB-ONS. By week 12, 62.4% gained or maintained weight (+0.3 kg), 29.2% achieved normal nutritional status (mean MNA score +2.8), and 46.8% improved nutritional status. Biochemical parameters improved significantly. Subjects reported good tolerability (mean score 8.5/10), with 87.1% of healthcare providers concurring. Conclusions: The administration of HC-HP-HMB-ONS markedly enhanced nutritional status and biochemical parameters in older hip-fracture patients, with high compliance and tolerability. Abstract

International audience; This paper presents the construction of a Knowledge Graph (KG) of Educational Resources (ER), where RDF reification is essential. The ERs are described based on the subjects they cover considering their relevance. RDF reification is used to incorporate this subject’s relevance. Multiple reification models with distinct syntax and performance implications for storage and query processing exist. This study aims to experimentally compare four statement-based reification models with four triplestores to determine the most pertinent choice for our KG. We built four versions of the KG. Each version has a distinct reification model, namely standard reification, singleton properties, named graphs, and RDF-star, which were obtained using RML mappings. Each of the four triplestores (Virtuoso, Jena, Oxigraph, and GraphDB) was setup four times (except for Virtuoso, which does not support RDF-star), and seven different SPARQL queries were experimentally evaluated. This study shows that standard reification and named graphs lead to good performance. It also shows that, in the particular context of the used KG, Virtuoso outperforms Jena, GraphDB, and Oxigraph in most queries. The recent specification of RDF-star and SPARQL-star sheds light on statement-level annotations. The empirical study reported in this paper contributes to the efforts towards the efficient usage of RDF reification. In addition, this paper shares the pipeline of the KG con- struction using standard semantic web technologies.

49. A survey on SPARQL query relaxation under the lens of RDF reification

Abstract

Query relaxation has been proposed to cope with the problem of queries that produce none or insufficient answers. The goal is to modify these queries to be able to produce alternative results close to those expected in the original query. Existing approaches querying RDF datasets generally relax the SPARQL query constraints based on logical relaxations through RDFS entailment and RDFS ontologies. Techniques also exist that use the similarity of instances based on resource descriptions. These relaxation approaches defined for SPARQL queries over RDF triples have proved their efficiency. Nevertheless, significant challenges arise for query relaxation techniques in the presence of statement-level annotations, i.e., RDF reification. In this survey, we overview SPARQL query relaxation works with a particular focus on issues and challenges posed by representative RDF reification models, namely, standard reification, named graphs, n-ary relations, singleton properties, and RDF-Star.
