Background/Objectives: COVID-19 has significantly impacted lives, and data show that receiving a booster vaccination has been demonstrated to lower the spread of COVID-19 and reduce the severity of the risk of infection. The Saudi government has actively promoted booster dose vaccines among university students who can spread the virus to older populations, especially in high-density environments, where the risk of virus transmission and spread is elevated. This study focuses on the acceptance of COVID-19 booster shots among students at Imam Abdulrahman bin Faisal University. The study assessed students' willingness to receive a COVID-19 booster dose and the factors influencing their decision. Methods: A descriptive, cross-sectional study design using an online self-administered survey was conducted among medical and non-medical students at Imam Abdulrahman bin Faisal University. A convenience sampling technique was used to recruit participants via email and social media platforms (WhatsApp version 2.3). Quantitative analysis was performed using IBM SPSS version 28.0. using descriptive statistics. Logistic regression analysis was used to predict factors affecting COVID-19 booster dose acceptance and hesitancy. Results: Among 315 respondents, 171 (54.3%) were males, and 144 (45.7%) were females. All the respondents fell in the 18–25 years age group. About 173 (54.9%) respondents were from health-related colleges. Overall, 24.44% (77/315) agreed to get a COVID-19 vaccine booster dose. However, 77.14% (243/315) were confident of getting the vaccine whenever they wanted. About 48.88% (154/315) of respondents considered COVID-19 a serious severe infection, while 14.06% (46/315) of respondents were concerned about the probability of receiving COVID-19 immunization (World Health Organization, 2021). Conclusions: The study revealed that students were not accepting COVID-19 booster doses, highlighting the need for awareness campaigns to dispel myths and improve vaccination rates. This study aimed to evaluate the public's intention to report ADRs to community pharmacists in the Makkah region of Saudi Arabia and to identify the factors influencing this intention, using the TPB as the theoretical framework. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted in the Makkah region of Saudi Arabia via a nonprobability sampling method. Data were gathered through an online self-report survey designed to assess the public's intention to report ADRs to community pharmacists. Multivariate logistic regression analysis was used to examine the influence of three constructs of the TPB on this intention. Results: A total of 452 individuals participated in the study. Approximately 22% of them reported experiencing ADRs in the last six months, but only 21% were aware of the Saudi NPC. Approximately 62% of the participants expressed a strong intention to report ADRs to community pharmacists. The public exhibited a highly positive attitude toward reporting ADRs, alongside high subjective norms and perceived behavioral control. Among the TPB constructs, attitude had the most significant influence on the intention to report ADRs to community pharmacists, followed by subjective norms and perceived behavioral control. Conclusion: This study revealed a strong public intention to report ADRs to community pharmacists in the Makkah region, driven primarily by positive attitudes, supportive subjective norms, and high perceived behavioral control. However, the findings highlight a critical gap in public awareness of the Saudi NPC, with only 21% of participants aware of its existence. These results underscore the importance of targeted initiatives to improve awareness of the Saudi NPC and to leverage positive attitudes and social norms to promote ADR reporting practices effectively. Background: Several techniques had been developed to generate aerosolized medications during noninvasive ventilation (NIV) using variable inhalation methods. This study hypothesized that large spacers were more efficient significantly than small spacers and adapters during NIV. Objective: The main objective of this study was to compare the performance of newly developed spacers with standard T-piece in NIV chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) subjects. Methods: Sixty COPD subjects requiring NIV were included in this study. A dual-limb circuit was used, and the mode of ventilator was set in spontaneous volume-controlled mode. Dual-limb ventilation circuit, consists of inspiratory-limb and expiratory-limb, is pressure and volume controlled in response to subject expiration providing relatively high resistance to expiratory flow. Two experimental sets were evaluated: the first was introducing two preliminary pressurized metered-dose inhalers (pMDI) puffs before the nebulization of 1 ml of a respirable solution of salbutamol by vibrating mesh nebulizer (VMN) using Minimhal and Combihaler. The second was to only nebulize 1 ml of salbutamol respirable solution by VMN using Combihaler, Minimhal, and standard T-piece. Two urine samples were collected after aerosol delivery: urine sample after 30 min. (USAL0.5) as an indicator of lung deposition and all urine pooled 24 h (USAL24) post-inhalation as an indicator of systemic absorption. The amount of salbutamol extracted from urine samples was assayed by high-performance liquid chromatography. Results: Minimhal + pMDI + VMN delivered a higher percentage of salbutamol 30 min post-inhalation than Minimhal + VMN (p < 0.001). Also, Combihaler + pMDI + VMN delivered a higher percentage of salbutamol 30 min post-inhalation than Combihaler + VMN (p < 0.001). Combihaler + VMN delivered a higher percentage of salbutamol 30 min and 24 h post-inhalation than both Minimhal + VMN and T-piece + VMN (p < 0.001). Standard T-piece delivered the lowest aerosol amount delivered to the lung compared to both spacers (p < 0.05). Conclusions: Introducing two pMDI puffs significantly improved aerosol delivery by both spacers. Combihaler significantly improves aerosol delivery more than Minimhal. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background and Objective: Hypertension is a prevalent chronic condition often treated with multiple medications, leading to polypharmacy, which can heighten the risk of adverse drug reactions and contribute to psychological issues like depression. This study aimed to investigate the relationship between polypharmacy and depressive symptoms in hypertensive patients using data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) from 2017 to 2020. Materials and Methods: This study utilized data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) collected between 2017 and March 2020. Results: Among 2543 hypertensive participants, 12.3% met the criteria for depression. The findings revealed that patients using 11 or more medications were ten times more likely to experience depressive symptoms compared to those taking 1 to 2 medications (OR = 10.06, p < 0.001). Additionally, younger age (18 to 45 years), female gender, and lower educational attainment were significantly associated with higher rates of depressive symptoms. Specifically, females were 1.47 times more likely to experience depression compared to males (p = 0.032). Conclusions: This research highlights the substantial impact of medication burden on mental health among hypertensive patients, emphasizing the need for tailored clinical interventions for this vulnerable population. Aims: The study aimed to evaluate the potential benefits of luteolin treatment in Huntington's disease (HD), an inherited progressive neurodegenerative disorder. Methods: HD N171‐82Q transgenic and WT mice received luteolin or vehicle for treatment at 6 weeks of age. The mice's body weight changes and survival rates were monitored throughout the study, and a series of motor functional tests were conducted. Serum level of the marker NfL was also determined. Immunohistochemical staining and western blotting were utilized to assess the expression of huntingtin aggregates. Results: Luteolin treatment enhanced survival and prevented weight loss in HD mice compared to the vehicle‐treated HD group. Furthermore, the luteolin‐treated HD mice exhibited enhanced motor coordination and balance and significantly reduced motor dysfunction. Also, luteolin decreased serum NfL levels in HD mice. Notably, the accumulation of huntingtin aggregates was significantly reduced in the brain's cortex, hippocampus, and striatum of luteolin‐treated HD mice compared to the vehicle‐treated HD group. Conclusion: Luteolin holds promise as a therapeutic agent for improving survival outcomes, managing motor dysfunction, and reducing huntingtin aggregates in HD. The findings are of significance as currently, there are no approved therapeutic interventions that reverse HD pathology or slow down its progression. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objective: To evaluate knowledge about HPV and its vaccine, additionally, to examine the effect of knowledge about HPV and its vaccine on perceived benefits and barriers to HPV vaccination among individuals in the western region of Saudi Arabia. Methods: A cross-sectional design was employed in the western region of Saudi Arabia through a self-administered web-based survey. The survey assessed knowledge, perceived benefits, and perceived barriers to HPV vaccination. Results: A total of 1149 eligible participants completed the survey. Participants exhibited limited knowledge of HPV and its vaccine, with an average total score of 4.76 out of 15. Over 80% of participants were unaware that HPV may not show symptoms, cannot lead to HIV, and is not treatable with antibiotics. Over half were unaware that HPV can cause cervical cancer, oral cancer, or genital warts. Unmarried and graduate-educated participants demonstrated greater knowledge. Perceived benefits were positively associated with knowledge levels, while perceived barriers were negatively associated with knowledge levels after controlling for other variables. Conclusions: This study highlights the need for education and healthcare efforts to raise knowledge about HPV and its vaccine in the western region of Saudi Arabia. Also, this study indicated that enhanced knowledge boosts positive attitudes towards HPV vaccination, while reducing perceived barriers, thereby increasing vaccination rates. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
