Box 741, Tabuk, 71491, Saudi Arabia, Email pchettiar@ut.edu.saIntroduction: The adoption of automated drug dispensing systems (ADDS) in hospital pharmacies is a global trend, driven by its potential to reduce dispensing errors, minimize prescription filling time, and ultimately, improve patient care services. However, a significant research gap exists in the field, as a comprehensive assessment of patient satisfaction with ADDS is currently lacking. This study, with its comprehensive approach, aims to fill this gap by comparing patient satisfaction between hospital pharmacies implementing ADDS and traditional drug dispensing systems (TDDS).Patients and Methods: The cross-sectional study was conducted in hospitals adopting ADDS and TDDS. All the outpatients aged 18 or above who visited the pharmacy were included, and severely ill patients were excluded from the study. A 17-item, 5-point Likert scale questionnaire assessed the participant’s satisfaction. The questionnaire has four domains: pharmacy administration, dispensing practice, patient education, and dispensing system.Results: The demographics of the study participants were normally distributed between ADDS and TDDS according to chi-square analysis. The mean participant satisfaction was significantly (P< 0.05) higher in ADDS than in TDDS regarding all the items of dispensing practice and dispensing system domains. Three items related to the pharmacy administration domain showed significant participant satisfaction with ADDS. However, the participants’ satisfaction showed no significant difference (p=0.176) between ADDS and TDDS in terms of the cleanliness of the pharmacy. Also, the participant’s satisfaction between ADDS and TDDS was not statistically significant regarding the pharmacist’s explanation of the side effects (p=0.850) and provision of all necessary information to the patient (p=0.061) in the patient education domain.Conclusion: Patient satisfaction was higher in the ADDS participants than in TDDS regarding pharmacy administration, patient education, dispensing practice, and systems. However, pharmacists in ADDS need to be motivated to transfer the advantages of ADDS to patient care, including comprehensive patient education, particularly on side effects.Keywords: automated drug dispensing system, dispensing practice, dispensing system, patient satisfaction, pharmacy administration, traditional drug dispensing system

Stretch marks are not serious health issues, but they may have a major psychological effect on patients. Due to poor skin color improvement or prolonged skin atrophy, there is no standard treatment for SD. Fillers have been studied for their effectiveness in the treatment of SD.Objective: This systematic review aims to determine the efficacy of fillers on SD.Methods: This systematic review is reported following PRISMA guidance. We included all relevant articles published up to November 2022 in the following electronic databases: Science Direct, Midline, the Web of Science, CINAHL, and Google Scholar. The initial search yielded 119, of which seven were included after applying inclusion and exclusion criteria.Results: The systematic review included a total of 184 female participants who were over the age of 18 years old. Three studies used jet volumetric remodeling (JVR) to inject HA pneumatically. One study injected polycaprolactone filler. One study used calcium hydroxylapatite, micro-needling, and ascorbic acid. MFU-V and CaHA were given in one study. One study delivered MFU-V using micro-focused ultrasound. All studies showed that it reduces SD with only mild, temporary side effects. More favor was given to combining CaHA and MFU-V, which had the fewest side effects compared to other dermal fillers.Conclusion: As monotherapy or combination therapy, injectable dermal fillers may treat SD with minimal adverse effects. We suggest that more RCTs look into injectable dermal filler to find out what is best for patients with SD and compare it to other treatment methods in terms of results, costs, and side effects to provide satisfactory practice and basic guideline interventions for these cases.Keywords: striae distensae, Fillers, SD, Efficacy

Language learners have multiple and changing identities associated with unequal power relations; their direct identity and language learning involves imagination-created identities in communities not immediately accessible or tangible. Imagined identities drive learners' investment in meaningful learning practices. This quantitative study addresses a research gap by examining Saudi students' imagined identities and investment in English-as-a-foreign-language (EFL) learning during technical training. Data from an imagined-identity questionnaire completed by 98 participants were analyzed using arithmetic averages and standard deviations to determine how learners' imagined identities serve their language-learning investment. Results show that learners' imagined identities throughout EFL learning during technical training were positive and served their language-learning investment. Learners wanted to extend their identities, assert their right to speak, and practice learner agency, which is significant to their commitment to learning EFL. Further qualitative investigation is required to understand the interrelated nature of EFL learners' imagined identities and language-learning investment.

BACKGROUND: Pericardial effusion requiring percutaneous or surgical-based intervention remains an important complication of a leadless pacemaker implantation. OBJECTIVE: The study sought to determine real-world prevalence, risk factors, and associated outcomes of pericardial effusion requiring intervention in leadless pacemaker implantations. METHODS: The National Inpatient Sample and International Classification of Diseases-Tenth Revision codes were used to identify patients who underwent leadless pacemaker implantations during the years 2016 to 2020. The outcomes assessed in our study included prevalence of pericardial effusion requiring intervention, other procedural complications, and in-hospital outcomes. Predictors of pericardial effusion were also analyzed. RESULTS: Pericardial effusion requiring intervention occurred in a total of 325 (1.1%) leadless pacemaker implantations. Patient-level characteristics that predicted development of a serious pericardial effusion included >75 years of age (odds ratio [OR] 1.38, 95% confidence interval [CI] 1.08-1.75), female sex (OR 2.03, 95% CI 1.62-2.55), coagulopathy (OR 1.50, 95% CI 1.12-1.99), chronic pulmonary disease (OR 1.36, 95% CI 1.07-1.74), chronic kidney disease (OR 1.53, 95% CI 1.22-1.94), and connective tissue disorders (OR 2.98, 95% CI 2.02-4.39). Pericardial effusion requiring intervention was independently associated with mortality (OR 5.66, 95% CI 4.24-7.56), prolonged length of stay (OR 1.36, 95% CI 1.07-1.73), and increased cost of hospitalization (OR 2.49, 95% CI 1.92-3.21) after leadless pacemaker implantation. CONCLUSION: In a large, contemporary, real-world cohort of leadless pacemaker implantations in the United States, the prevalence of pericardial effusion requiring intervention was 1.1%. Certain important patient-level characteristics predicted development of a significant pericardial effusion, and such effusions were associated with adverse outcomes after leadless pacemaker implantations.

English is an international language with diverse varieties around the world that are referred to as Global Englishes (GE). Numerous studies demonstrate the importance and effectiveness of integrating GE-informed materials in English Language Teaching (ELT) practices but in the context of the Gulf countries, particularly in Saudi Arabia, such studies are relatively rare. Furthermore, ELT in the Saudi setting is heavily predicated on native-speakerism, with few courses adopting materials informed by GE, which in any case are also limited. This study addresses this gap by exploring the impact of a course delivered on English as a World Language to Saudi postgraduate students using a critical pedagogical approach. The study assesses how such a course can contribute to students' awareness of their own English as well as GE in general. This qualitative research study investigated the perceptions of Saudi students taking the optional course as part of their Master's English degree at Jouf University in Saudi Arabia. Data collection methods included semi-structured interviews and reflective journals. The findings revealed positive attitudes towards incorporating GE into English learning and teaching and an improved understanding of linguistic diversity after taking the course. The pedagogical implications of the findings are discussed, and recommendations are given for integrating GE into current ELT practices. The study explores whether incorporating a critical pedagogical approach can not only enhance students' awareness of English varieties, but also improve their attitudes towards such diverse forms of English as well as their own English variety.

The COVID-19 pandemic has caused a sudden shift to distance learning. For many nursing students, distance learning is a new experience and an essential requirement if they hope to complete their programs. Two challenges that nursing students could face during e-learning are the lack of social presence and low satisfaction. This study aimed to assess students' sense of community and satisfaction during e-learning and determine their impacts on academic achievement. This cross-sectional descriptive study used convenience sampling to collect data via a student satisfaction survey and a classroom community scale. There was a positive and significant correlation between the sense of community, total satisfaction with elearning (p < 0.001), and academic achievement (p < 0.001). Academic achievement was positively and strongly correlated with satisfaction with teaching (p < 0.001), assessment (p < 0.001), generic skills and learning experiences (p < 0.001), and total satisfaction with e-learning (p < 0.001). Students who worked collaboratively with their classmates and were more engaged in their learning were more satisfied with elearning and had higher academic achievement (p < 0.01). Female participants reported a strong sense of community and satisfaction with e-learning and greater academic achievement than males. Junior students perceived higher satisfaction scores and greater academic achievement (p < 0.01) than senior students. The findings of this study suggest that failing to meet student expectations can lead to low levels of student involvement. Students' engagement and satisfaction are good indicators of the quality and effectiveness of online programs.

This study introduces the Harmonic Mean Optimizer (HMO), a novel meta-heuristic algorithm designed to address complex global optimization problems. The primary objective of this research is to develop an optimization technique that effectively balances exploration and exploitation without requiring extensive parameter tuning, thereby simplifying the optimization process and enhancing its robustness across various problem domains. The HMO employs a unique dual-fitness index that leverages the harmonic mean to assess both the quality and diversity of candidate solutions dynamically. This approach ensures a balanced search process that avoids premature convergence and improves the ability to find global optima. The methodology involves extensive benchmarking of the HMO against a comprehensive set of test functions, including 23 traditional functions from the Congress on Evolutionary Computation (CEC) 2017 test suite. The performance of the HMO is compared with that of established meta-heuristic algorithms, such as Genetic Algorithms (GA) and Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO), to validate its efficacy in terms of convergence speed and solution accuracy. Additionally, the HMO is applied to several real-world engineering problems to demonstrate its practical utility. The results show that the HMO consistently outperforms the benchmark algorithms, achieving faster convergence and higher accuracy in finding optimal solutions across a diverse range of test problems. In practical applications, the HMO effectively optimized complex engineering tasks, achieving significant improvements in both solution quality and computational efficiency. These findings highlight the potential of the HMO as a versatile and powerful tool for global optimization tasks. the HMO offers a significant advancement in optimization methodologies by providing a robust, parameter-free approach that effectively balances exploration and exploitation. This study underscores the HMO’s applicability to a wide range of optimization challenges and sets the foundation for future research and development in enhancing and applying this innovative algorithm to more complex and diverse problem domains.

The present examination focuses on the Falkner-Skan flow of micropolar hybridized nanofluid via a wedge surface. The proposed study examines thermal radiative fluxing and heat dissipation in hybridized nanoparticle aqueous solutions. Simulations of uni-directional radiative transport in optically dense fluids use Rosseland's diffusion model. This study created a Cu-TiO2/water hybrid nanofluid by mixing Cu and TiO2 nanomolecules with H2O. Partial differential equations from Naiver-Stokes theory are used to generate the regulating flow phenomena, then convert them into ordinary differentiation equations using an appropriate similarity approach. Additionally, the three-stage Lobatto IIIA method is used to compute the formulae. Calculations are done using MATLAB's built-in bvp5c function. We found that increasing material characteristics slows fluid flow because micropolar nanofluids minimize drag. These alterations alter fluid flow and boost temperature. However, boosting thermal radiation and Eckert number slows heat movement but improves temperature profiles. Much prior research ignored thermal radiative fluxing and heat dissipation in the aqueous solution of hybrid nanomolecules (Cu and TiO2) in Falkner-Skan micropolar flow via a wedge surface. Tables show wall frictional factor and Nusselt quantity results. Micropolar fluid characteristic decreases velocity but increases micro-rotational velocity. Power-law parameters, volume fractions, radiation, heat source, and Eckert amount affect thermal contours.

The hybrid AC-DC microgrid is a system that links AC and DC microgrids using a bidirectional AC-DC interface converter. The presence of dynamic loads is a major obstacle to the implementation of the microgrid concept, and those 50 % include asynchronous motors. This paper presents a control system for a hybrid microgrid that powers an electrical motor using the field-oriented control (FOC) method. This study investigates the significance of third-harmonic injected PWM (THIPWM) in reducing the necessary voltage across the DC bus while still achieving the required AC voltage at motor terminals. MATLAB/Simulink simulation tool and OPAL-RT for real-time simulations were used for validation of the proposed control. The outcomes show the tracking of the reference currents, achieving accurate torque control, managing various operating modes like grid-connected having SPWM and THIPWM, or operation with PV and battery sources. The research also highlights lower settling time values as well as lower total harmonic distortion (THD) compared to SPWM in different load conditions using THIPWM.

A novel mathematical modeling approach for the Triple-Diode Model (TDM) and its parameter estimation is introduced in this paper. For the first time in the literature, this paper presents two analytical solutions for calculating the current in TDM solar cells using the Lambert W function. Additionally, a new metaheuristic algorithm, the Adaptive Evaporation Rate Water Cycle Algorithm (Adaptive ERWCA), is proposed for estimating TDM solar cell parameters. The proposed algorithm is tested using both the new analytical solutions and a well-known iterative approach for the current-voltage characteristics of the TDM solar cells model. Extensive testing is conducted on three well-known solar cells/modules and a panel under various weather conditions. The results demonstrate that the proposed analytical expressions for the current-voltage characteristics are accurate and highly effective for representing TDM solar cell current. The accuracy of the parameter estimates obtained with the application of the proposed algorithm, considering both analytical solutions and the iterative approach, is compared with existing literature results. It is shown that the proposed algorithm outperforms existing algorithms in solar cell parameter estimation across both the analytical and iterative approaches for current-voltage characteristics. Remarkably, for the RTC France solar cell, the SOLAREX MSX 60 solar module, and the PHOTOWATT-PWP 201 solar module, the obtained Root Mean Square Errors (RMSE) are 0.00075141, 0.01157153, and 0.0010578, respectively. These results are currently the best reported in the literature.

Improving coating technology and thin film formation by optimizing the experimental parameters has become essential for various industrial and technological fields. This work aims to study the influence of the precursor materials on the physical and electro-optical properties of Cr2O3 thin films. The solutions were prepared using the sol–gel route and deposited on glass slides using the spin coating technique. The structure and morphology of the films were studied using XRD, FT-infrared (IR), and field-emission scan-electron microscope. The results indicated the formation of a high-purity Cr2O3 (Eskolaite) phase in the form of spherical nanoparticles with sizes of 17–25 nm. Three bands appear at 490, 765, and 889 cm−1{{\rm{cm}}}^{-1} in the FTIR spectra, which are attributed to Cr–O{\rm{Cr}}{\rm{\mbox{--}}}{\rm{O}}/ Cr═O{\rm{Cr}}{\rm{═}}{\rm{O}} vibrations. The I–V curves showed linear behavior and good ohmic features. Ultraviolet-visible-near infrared spectra showed that the films are highly transparent, with band gaps in the range of 2.60–2.90 eV, and refractive indices in the range of 1.92–2.25. The sheet resistances, the new figure of merit, the real and fictional dielectric constants, and the optical conductivity were discussed. The Cr2O3 thin films are the best candidates for various utilizations, including solar cells, sensors in the IR region, and energy storage.

The human microbiome is a complex ecosystem of bacteria residing in the body. It plays a crucial role in safeguarding the overall well-being of individuals while also making them more vulnerable to various diseases. The human microbiota, genetics, and health have a complex connection, which is significant for maintaining health and preventing infections. The microbiome has a role in several gastrointestinal, skin, dental, and systemic diseases, such as obesity, diabetes, and autoimmune disorders. Genetic variation and lifestyle and dietary choices modify the microbiome composition, thereby influencing the risk of developing severe infections. The microbiome impacts host gene expression and acts as a biomarker for several diseases. The gut microbiome and genes are linked in the pathogenesis of obesity and inflammatory bowel disease. Therefore, this review focuses on the relationship between the microbiome and genetics and elucidation of the complexity of this connection. Future research-based microbiome interventions to prevent diseases could lead to strategies for personalized medicine that enhance treatment efficacy and health outcomes.

This research explores new soliton solutions to the Atangana–Baleanu derivative (ABD) fractional system of equations for ion sound and Langmuir waves (FISLW). We utilize the fractional ABD operator to convert our system into an ordinary differential equations. In recent years, machine learning (ML) evolves significantly in the context of data analysis and computing different solutions, which typically enables systems to operate wisely. Now, we are going to use numerous ML tools including matplotlib. pyplot as plt, scipy.integrate, mpl toolkits.mplot3d, and Axes3D to generate various types of optical solutions by using complete discriminant of the polynomial method. We will also analyze solutions for the hyperbolic function, trigonometric function, Jacobian elliptic function (JEF), and other solitary wave solutions. Solitons have extensive uses in pure and applied mathematics, including nonlinear partial differential equations: the Boussinesq equation, the nonlinear Schrödinger equation, and the sine-Gordon equation, Lie groups, Lie algebras, and differential and algebraic geometry. In addition, we study the chaotic behaviour, i.e., 2D, 3D, time series, Poincarè maps, and sensitivity analysis of our governing model. Sensitivity analysis explores how changes in a system’s variables affects its behaviour.

Background: After pancreatic surgery, the development of postoperative pancreatic fistula (POPF) is a serious concern. POPF involves the leakage of pancreatic fluids from the surgical site, which can lead to complications and even death. Preventing POPF is essential for enhancing patient recovery and lessening the impact on healthcare resources. This systematic review and meta-analysis evaluated medical methods and surgical techniques to prevent POPF. Methods: This study was registered under the International Prospective Register of Systematic Reviews (PROSPERO) with the registration number CRD42024500938. An electronic search was conducted through the PubMed, Google Scholar, Web of Science, and ScienceDirect databases for all relevant articles published in English from 2018 to 2023. The following search terms were used: ((Whipple procedure OR Pancreaticojejunal OR Pancreaticogastrostomy) AND (Prevention of postoperative pancreatic fistula) AND (Prevention OR Octreotide OR Sealant agent OR Stent OR Postoperative drain)). Results: Of 260 papers, 28 articles extracted through the database search were considered suitable for the systematic review. The included studies investigated a variety of surgical approaches for pancreatic resection. Pancreaticoduodenectomy (PD) was the most prevalent intervention. The incidence rates for POPF varied widely across the studies, ranging from as low as 11.6% to as high as 100%. The incidence rate of clinically relevant POPF (CR-POPF) ranged from 11.7% to 33.3%. The length of postoperative hospital stays also varied significantly. Discussion: Postoperative pancreatic fistula (POPF) affects 13–41% of patients post-pancreatic surgery. Despite its high incidence, mortality rates are low. Postoperative hospital stay varies, with higher rates in older patients and overweight individuals. Advancements in surgical techniques and perioperative management have reduced mortality rates to Conclusions: This study provides insights into the outcomes of pancreatectomy, including the incidence of POPF, postoperative hospital stays, and mortality rate. The findings suggest that the incidence of POPF is similar to that suggested in the literature and is influenced by various factors.

Background: First-aid knowledge among the general public is critical for saving lives in medical emergencies before expert care arrives. However, studies show persistent gaps in layperson first-aid capacity worldwide. This study assessed first-aid knowledge and awareness among adults in Al-Ahsa City, Saudi Arabia, to identify strengths and weaknesses to guide tailored interventions. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A cross-sectional survey was conducted among 716 adults recruited through convenience sampling. A structured questionnaire collected sociodemographics and assessed knowledge across 12 first-aid scenarios involving bleeding control, burns, seizures, choking, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). Results: Just 59.2% correctly identified direct pressure to stop bleeding, and 61.2% knew proper burn first aid. Only 52% recognized the pediatric CPR compression-to-ventilation ratio (15:2), and 36.2% identified the chest compression rate of 100/min. For choking, 73.9% endorsed abdominal thrusts for children, but only 60.9% knew backslaps for infants. Females scored higher on bleeding (94.5% vs 92.8% correct) and abdominal thrusts (83.6% vs 66.1%), while males were more knowledgeable on burns (70.4% vs 53.8%) and infant choking (81.1% vs 44.7%). Younger and more educated respondents had higher scores. Conclusions: Major gaps exist in implementing proper first-aid techniques, especially differentiation by age. Deficits in direct bleeding control, high-quality CPR, and tailored pediatric care represent high-risk knowledge weaknesses in this population. Targeted education programs focused on skill-building in these areas, particularly for higher-risk demographics like the elderly and less educated, are critically needed to strengthen public preparedness and save lives. Findings provide key insights to inform evidence-based interventions.

This study proposes five components of corpus literacy skills (CL) based on a survey of previous studies to investigate in-service teachers' perceived CL skills. Subsequently, the relationships among these components will be explored. In addition, this study investigates whether age and teaching experience have an effect on perceived CL skills. Finally, this study reports on the in-service teacher's point of view of having CL skills, as well as their limitations. A total of 105 female teachers self-reported their proficiency levels in CL skills as moderate to satisfactory. They were more confident in the fifth component, which was creating teaching materials using corpora output. We hypothesised that teachers' CL skills were linked to age and experience, in which the fifth component correlated negatively with teachers' ages and teaching experiences. In addition, this study sheds light on the importance of the search component of CL skills, as it is a fundamental skill that influences the acquisition of other skills.

The current study presents the results of a qualitative investigation into the perspectives of mothers who have adopted children who are deaf or hard of hearing. Nine mothers, recruited via convenience and snowball sampling, participated in semi-structured interviews via videoconference technology. The interviews were transcribed and coded for thematic analysis. Parent perspectives on the following topics were analyzed: motivation, reaction to identification, communication and technology decisions, language, services pre- and post-adoption, others' reactions, expectations, race and ethnicity, and attachment and adjustment. Based on thematic analysis of the participants' responses, key themes and implications for professional practice are proposed.

Critical thinking (CT) is an essential life skill that needs to be instilled in young minds during their education years. This study explored pre-service English teachers' perceptions of the barriers to promoting CT skills in Saudi classrooms and investigated potential solutions to these perceived barriers. The study used a qualitative research design. Data were collected by conducting semi-structured interviews with 25 female pre-service English teachers. The issues that emerged as barriers to the promotion and development of CT skills in classrooms related to the personality of students, teaching methods, and the culture of criticism. The study proposes measures to enhance the development of CT skills in the classroom, including modifications to the teaching methods courses that are offered in pre-service English programs and the changing of perceptions toward CT skills.

A substantial source of death and morbidity in chest trauma patients is damage to the chest wall. The radiologists' accurate diagnosis and description of any damage to the chest wall can help direct the right care for the patient. The improvement in patient treatment results from catastrophic intra-thoracic injuries being diagnosed quickly. The imaging method used in an emergency situation must arrive at the right diagnosis as soon as feasible. Imaging is a crucial component of post-chest trauma care for both the initial diagnostic evaluation and the follow-up evaluation of prospective treatments. The anterio-posterior chest radiograph continued to be the first step in the imaging work-up despite its well-known limitations. Computed tomography with adjunctive imaging, which is now more frequently done on multi-detector computed tomography equipment, provides an important information that is not immediately available on the traditional radiograph. This enables a clearer description of thoracic injuries linked to trauma.
