14. Quasiperiodic solutions in a resonant electric circuit

Abstract

[ES] En este trabajo se estudia la dinámica de un circuito eléctrico resonante. Se presentan varios diagramas de bifurcaciones que pueden asociarse a la forma normal truncada de la singularidad de Hopf doble. Las curvas de bifurcaciones se obtienen a través de continuaciones numéricas. Se muestra la existencia de soluciones cuasiperiódicas con dos componentes frecuenciales (toros 2D), y tres componentes (toros 3D). Estas últimas, en cierta forma, están próximas en complejidad a soluciones caóticas. El análisis se complementa con simulaciones temporales y una discusión sobre la interacción de los autovalores del sistema linealizado al variar uno de los parámetros . [EN] In this work, the dynamics of a resonant electric circuit is analyzed. Several bifurcation diagrams associated to the truncated normal form of the double Hopf bifurcation are presented. The bifurcation curves are obtained by numerical continuations. The existence of quasiperiodic solutions with two frequency modes (2D tori), and three components (3D tori) is shown. These last are, in certain way, close in complexity to chaotic solutions. The analysis is complemented with time simulations and a discussion on the interactions of the eigenvalues of the linearized system, as one of the parameters is varied. 23. Frequency regulation and inter-area oscillation damping using variable-speed wind generators.

Abstract

This work explores the contribution of variable-speed wind turbines on two typical problems of multimachine power systems: the frequency regulation and the inter-area oscillations. Towards this end, a multimachine test system is augmented with a variable-speed wind farm. Two additional control loops are included in order to modify the active power delivered by the wind farm in response to frequency deviations and inter-area oscillations. Some guidelines are given to achieve a suitable tuning of the loop gains. In case of the inter-area oscillation compensator, the analysis is carried out for different loading conditions, measurement time delays and input signals. [ABSTRACT FROM PUBLISHER]

Abstract

In this paper, modelling and parameter identification of an inertia wheel pendulum benchmark is considered. This is an underactuated mechanical system useful for teaching and research. Attention is focused on deriving a simple but accurate model capable of reproducing large amplitude oscillations. Due to the particular design of the prototype, the friction forces on the actuated joint are noticeable. A simple friction model including dead-zone effects and viscous terms is proposed, and a compensation method for the dead zone is derived. The accuracy of the compensation strategy and the predictive quality of the derived model are analysed by comparing numerical simulations with experimental data. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
