As the intangible cultural heritage of Shandong Province, Zibo fish plate is deeply rooted in the rich soil of Chinese traditional culture with rich folk culture connotation and symbolic significance. For thousands of years, the local folk culture and art condensed and expressed in the fish motif pattern decoration of Zibo fish plate, making Zibo fish plate unique in aesthetic performance of a mellow and rough charm. As an artistic work with national characteristics and the spirit of the times gradually formed in the evolution of society and history, this paper will start with the development process and characteristics of Zibo fish plate, in-depth analysis of the symbolic meaning and expression of Zibo fish motif pattern. In view of the current difficulties facing the inheritance of fish mother patterns in Zibo, the corresponding solutions are put forward. Relevant research has deeply revealed the relationship between the Zibo fish motif pattern and Chinese traditional culture and has solid theoretical and historical research value. © 2024 by Author/s and Licensed by Herança.

This comprehensive review, titled "Towards a Brand-free Philosophy: Integrating MUJI's Design Characters into Chinese Packaging," delves into the unique design philosophy of MUJI, a Japanese retail company known for its brand-less, minimalist aesthetic, and explores the potential for integrating these principles into contemporary Chinese packaging design. Initially, the paper outlines MUJI’s historical context and the underlying principles that shape its design strategy, characterized by simplicity, functionality, and a subdued aesthetic that defies the clamor typically associated with branding. This study subsequently contrasts this approach with the current state of packaging design in China, which is marked by a rich history of artistry yet is facing challenges in the modern consumer landscape. Through case studies and theoretical analysis, this paper investigates the avenues and challenges associated with transplanting MUJI’s design characters into China’s packaging sector. It demonstrates that the integration of MUJI’s minimalist, brand-free philosophy can address current issues in Chinese packaging, such as overemphasis on opulence and visual complexity, offering a sustainable and culturally resonant alternative. The review concludes by forecasting potential trends of this integration and offering actionable recommendations for China's packaging industry to evolve towards a more harmonious, user-centered, and ecologically sustainable paradigm.

Previous souvenir research has generally supported the use of heritage arts and crafts as a design inspiration, which both arouses visitors’ interest in the destination and enhances the local cultural identity. The increasing concern about souvenirs and cultural heritage has led to a proliferation of studies on this topic. However, few review articles discuss their inevitable connection and the process of transforming cultural heritage resources into souvenirs. Therefore, this review aims to analyze the literature on souvenirs related to cultural heritage from 2018 to July 2022. A criterion for inclusion and exclusion is presented to search and screen articles from three leading databases (i.e., WOS, Mendeley, and Scopus). Ultimately, 27 articles meeting the eligibility criteria were selected for synthesis analysis. ATLAS.ti 9, as the analysis software, yielded quantitative results showing trends in research on cultural heritage-related souvenirs. At the same time, from the qualitative analysis emerged four main themes about the topic: (1) significance of souvenirs, (2) customer’s purchase intention, (3) transformation, and (4) sustainability. Finally, the findings are expected to be beneficial in addressing the relationship between souvenirs and cultural heritage and provide insights for future research and practice of cultural product sustainability.

The understanding of the benefit that has been provided by urban trees is important to justify the investment and improve stewardship. It has mostly been studied in environmental regulation and property values. However, a smaller number of researchers have taken into consideration on business perspective whereas the urban trees can be transformed as lumber and other solid-sawn wood product. Hence, this study aimed to investigate and develop furniture made from the waste of urban trees. The Raintree or Samanea saman is selected as a case study due to its greatest and fashionable urban tree species. The results recommended beautiful and uniqueness of Raintree wood properties. Besides that, the outcome also suggested as comprehensive management of urban trees resource attempt to increase the lumber value, while considering also other constraints on species selection, including biodiversity and suitability for urban environments.

Most urban trees need a periodic process such as branch pruning to fulfil the requirements of the quintessential characteristics related to its longevity, safety, and removal, based on specific reasons. These processes contribute towards the increment of waste capacity and the cost of maintenance. Therefore, waste should be managed properly since might become a valuable resource for economic benefit. Thus, the study aims to identify the value of urban tree species whereas their waste can be utilised as an alternative for furniture lumber. Seven major roads were selected in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia as the areas for the case study. Methods such as literature review and tree inventory were performed to gather significant data. The results acknowledged four valuable urban tree species that can be utilised as furniture lumber. These trees are under the big tree category within 10 to 45 m in height with more than 1m diameters of bolewood, which is their waste is suitable for lumber production. The finding also provides good practice in managing the waste of urban trees for economic worth.

Sub-analysis of time to resolution according to HIV status was also performed.Patients and Methods: A prospective cohort study of presumed idiopathic uveitis cases > 18 years underwent the tuberculin skin test, QuantiFERON-TB Gold test, and ocular tuberculosis (TB) polymerase chain reaction test. Adult TBU cases were treated with standard anti-tubercular therapy (and corticosteroids) for 9 months. Cases were followed-up for resolution of inflammation at 1.5, 3, 6, 9, 12 and 15 months post-diagnosis. Outcome measure was resolution of inflammation on ≤ 10 mg oral prednisone per day.Results: Seventy-nine presumed idiopathic uveitis cases were enrolled in the study, 49 (62%) were diagnosed with TBU. The mean (SD) age of TBU cases at diagnosis was 41.8 (13.4)

Age is typically affiliated with the decline of cognitive function and the probability to be diagnosed with neurodegenerative disease, namely dementia. Of all dementia-related deficits, the paper highlights on the decline of wayfinding ability, since it is interrelated with mobility, autonomy, caregiving burden and eventually institutionalization. The sense of directions in elderly is also affected by the sensory changes, while the most obvious sensory declines are both vision and hearing. Hence navigation systems that support mainly on visual and auditory may not be the best option for them. A concept of wearable navigational assistance that is non-intrusive and uses haptic stimuli instead of visual and/or audio signals is presented in this paper. A Usability Test (UT) was performed towards the elderly with dementia at a selected nursing home to investigate how they perceive haptic-feedback as a modality of navigation. The assessments involved three phases: (1) orientation or training, (2) navigation test and (3) further navigation test. Results indicate the potential efficacy of haptic modality as a navigation signal. Improvement on subjects’ navigational performance was shown especially during the further navigation test, signifying the familiarization of the intervention. Employing the haptic modality could be a beneficial substitute for navigational purpose when vision and audio are less appropriate. Nevertheless, as much as the encouraging outcomes from the results and analysis of the assessments are valuable, the constructive reviews attained are indeed important for the future development of the device system.

Drowning is one of 10 leading causes of death in every region of the world especially in the picnic and recreation. Statistics from Fire and Rescue Department showed an average of 700 people drown each year in this country. There were also cases where casualty to rescuers during the Save and Rescue Operation (SAR). As the incidents increased, the task of rescuers and equipment used should be reviewed. Issue How to ease rescuer task and safely lift underwater drown body. Problem Statement Difficulties arise during lifting drown body from underwater to the surface due to certain circumstances. This involved safety to rescuers, process of rescuing and time consuming of the operation. Objective The objective of this study is to determine the efficient ways of lifting drown body based on rescuers preferences. From the results, new stretcher design parameters will be established. Method Thirty rescuers from two Water Rescue Teams namely PPDA Putrajaya and PPDA Shah Alam Branches participated in this study. They are 24 male and 6 female aged between 23 to 51 years with mean of age at 29.5 year and experienced in SAR. Instrument Questionnaires were used to identify factors contributed to success or failure of any SAR operation. Likert scale questions were used to measure their preferences. Data then processed using statistical software (SPSS). Results Findings shows that all respondents agreed that lifting method is the most significant factor affecting their task performance, safety and time consumes. Meanwhile 83.3% of them strongly agreed and 16.7% agreed the usage of proposed floatable stretcher to lift drown body in their future SAR Operations.

Most product failure in the market is caused by the incompetence to integrate users’ requirements and preferences in the early stage of a new product development process. User involvement in the early stage of the design process is knowledgeable and opens possibilities for new product ideas, improves product innovation, decreases the product risks and prevents from irrelevant design. It also a pleasurable for the product developer to identify and verify the characteristics of a new product. This paper is evaluated on the decision-making process for the product definition phase of the product design and development stage, in which there is a need to incorporate the element of product design to establish the new product design characteristics. It extends the knowledge from product designers and users as a strategy for improving the efficiency of generating a new product idea and increases product quality and success in the market. Product Design Definition Method (PPDM) is explains the theory and procedure used in the decision making process. A very successful product is selected as a case study for validation in substantiating the significance of the method. The end of paper concluded the significant of method use for product designers in the product definition phase of product design and development stage that contributed to the success of a new product.
