We aimed to evaluate the effects of hydroxyethyl starch (Voluven) on the kidney tissue of rats with late renal failure due to ureteral obstruction. Materials and methods: Rats were divided into four groups: Group C, control; Group HES, hydroxyethyl starch solution (HES) 130/0.4 (Voluven®); Group UUO, unilateral ureteral obstruction (UUO); and Group UUO-HES, UUO-HES 130/0.4 (Voluven®). In the groups with ureteral obstruction, the distal part of the right ureter was accessed and sutured through a lower abdominal incision under ketamine anesthesia. Any signs of late-stage renal failure were evaluated after three weeks. Rats in the HES group and the renal failure-HES group were administered with HES 130/0.4 as a single intravenous dose of 20 mL/kg. After a follow-up of 24 hours, intra-abdominal blood sample was collected, and the rats were sacrificed. Biochemical and histopathological parameters were then evaluated. Results: Ureteral obstruction significantly increased urea and creatinine levels. In addition, when the UUO-HES and HES groups were compared, the administration of HES increased urea and creatinine levels in the UUO-HES group. Nitric oxide enzyme activity and malondialdehyde levels have significantly increased in the UUO groups. In addition, HES significantly increased nitric oxide activity and malondialdehyde levels in the UUO-HES group, in comparison with the HES group. The activity of caspases 3 and 8 was significantly increased in the UUO groups. In addition, HES significantly increased the activity of caspases 3 and 8 in the UUO-HES group, in comparison with the HES group. Light microscopy revealed significant changes in the UUO groups, especially in the obstructed kidneys. Conclusion: If indicated, HES should be used with caution in cases of UUO, but not in the cases of bilateral ureteral obstruction. Other aspects of these findings, including the clinical significance and practical applications, merit further experimental and clinical investigation. Materials and methods: Twenty-four Wistar albino rats were included in the study. The animals were randomly assigned to 1 of 4 experimental groups. In Group C (control group), left anterior descending artery was not occluded or reperfused. Myocardial I/R was induced by ligation of the left anterior descending artery for 30 min, followed by 2 h of reperfusion in the I/R, I/R-levosimendan (24 μg/kg) (IRL) group, and I/R-thymoquinone (0.2 mL/kg) (IRTQ) group. Tissue samples taken from the lungs of rats were histochemically stained with H&E and immunohistochemically stained with p53, Bcl 2, Bax, and caspase 3 primer antibodies. Results: Increased expression of p53 and Bax was observed (4+), especially in the I/R group. In IRTQ and IRL groups, expression was also observed at various locations (2+, 3+). H&E staining revealed that that the lungs were severely damaged and the walls of the alveoli were too thick, the number of areas examined was increased during the evaluation. Caspase 3 expression was observed to be at an (1+, 2+) intensity that was usually weak and diffuse in multiple areas. Bcl 2 was not found to be expressed in any of the tissues. H&E staining revealed that that the lungs were severely damaged in the I/R group, with the walls of the channels and alveoli thickened and edematous, and also an intense inflammatory cell migration was observed. Immunohistochemical staining was more prominent in inflammatory areas and structures around the terminal bronchioles. Conclusion: The findings in our study have shown that administration of levosimendan and TQ during I/R increases expression of caspase 3, p53, and Bax in lung tissue and has a protective effect on lung as distant organ. Abstract

With the rapid urbanization and the dynamics in land transactions, Turkish cadastre, as in many other countries, is facing challenges in the daily recording of sales, donations, taxations, and mortgages on land. Especially with the modern constructions and complex interrelationships of rights, restrictions, and responsibilities (RRR), the third dimension should not be forgotten. In this context, the design of a new cadastre data model for Turkey is essential. Inspired by this need, with this study, we aim in proposing a new cadastre model based on international standards such as Land Administration Data Model (LADM) and CityGML. LADM represents the legal and administrative aspects of the cadastral objects but does not show the semantic and 3D geometrical representation of physical cadastral objects which are required for the process of 3D cadastre. Therefore, in the paper, we propose an Application Domain Extension (ADE) for the cadastral objects that expands the integration of LADM and CityGML data model with the legal and administrative concepts defined in the Turkish Law. The study presents a detailed overview of the Turkish legal cadastre system and a proposal for its physical realization based on international standards. In addition, the developed ADE is also valuable for cadastral services undertaken by the General Directorate of Land Registry and Cadastre (GDLRC). It could also be used as a basis of a 3D national data standard for cadastral information systems.

Abstract

In modern times, spatial planning activities have been the process of determining projections for future land use. Spatial plans produce decisions about space in many different fields, from construction to transportation and environmental, natural, and cultural protection. The right, restrictions, and responsibilities (RRRs) to use the land pieces whose physical borders and legal status are registered with the cadastral process are determined by the spatial plans in line with the national purposes, public welfare, and healthy urbanization objectives.Land Administration Domain Model (LADM) is a general-purpose data model introduced in 2012 with International Organization for Standardization (ISO) standards. LADM proposes standards for many data infrastructures and land administration systems. In this context, although it does not have complete recommendations within the scope of spatial planning. It is essential to make additions to version II. As a result of gradual studies, spatial planning processes and decisions can be presented in a data model and the model can be associated with the LADM standard structure and integrated into land registration systems. Since LADM offers a conceptual model, newly created packages must be designed in a conceptual data model. The conceptual model is a product of several stages. This study focuses on how can produce a conceptual model in which countries can share spatial planning data. The requirements of the model that achieves this aim are revealed by considering the conceptual model production stages. By evaluating the findings, how can obtained data which helping to design the classes, class relations, and attributes of the data model were searched. With the conceptual data model to be prepared in line with the requirements, it is thought that land management processes can be strengthened by providing integration with spatial plans in LADM-based land administration systems. Abstract

WOS:000469124600042 Cockroaches, Blatta lateralis Walker (Orthoptera: Blattidae) have been one of the important groups of insect pests in urban environments. In this study, it was investigated that the effects of different native diatomaceous earths samples against Turkestan cockroach, Blatta lateralis Walker (Blattodea: Blattidae) nymph in the laboratory conditions. For this purpose, three different diatomaceous earths (Turco000, Turca004 and Turco020), obtained from domestic sources, were tested in seven different doses (0.50 g/m(2), 0.75 g/m(2), 1 g/m(2), 1.25 g/m(2), 1.50 g/m(2), 1.75 g/m(2) and 2.00 g/m(2)). It was concluded that the increase in the application dose increased the mortality. Turco020 caused 100% mortality rate at the end of the 28th hour at the application dose of 1.25 g/m(2). Similarly, the dose of 1.25 g/m(2) of Turco004 and the dose of 0.75 g/m(2) of Turco000 at the same treatment period produced 100% mortality. Based on the statistical analysis, a positive interaction between particle size and biological activity was detected. These results showed that the diatomite obtained from local sources have an important role in the control of this household pest.

Abstract

This paper summarises the comparison of Turkish and Malaysian cadastral registration systems based on the Land Administration Domain Model (LADM, ISO 2012) associated with 2D and 3D cadastral situations. Literature review shows that many countries propose their profile based on the LADM, such as The Netherlands, Australia/ Queensland, China, Greece and others. Turkey and Malaysia are some of the potential candidates for the LADM based country profile, as described in this paper. The study presents a detailed overview of the Turkish and Malaysian cadastral system, and LADM-based country profiles developed by the two countries are compared thanks to the common ontology offered by LADM. Abstract

Discovery of new eco-friendly methods for insect pest management is very important in integrated pest management program. Contact toxicity of six plant extracts i.e. Acanthus dioscoridis L. (Acanthaceae), Achillea millefolium L. (Asteraceae), Bifora radians Bieb. (Apiaceae), Heracleum platytaenium Boiss (Apiaceae), Humulus lupulus L. (Cannabaceae) and Phlomoides tuberosa (L.) Moench (Lamiaceae), were tested on the 1st to 4th instar larvae of Colorado potato beetle (Leptinotarsa decemlineata Say. (Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae)). The H. platytaenium and H. lupulus extracts were the most effective among the tested extracts, so dose-response bioassay was carried out only with H. lupulus and H. platytaenium against larval stages of Colorado potato beetle. The H. platytaenium extract was the most effective extract with calculated LD50 values 0.126, 0.204, 0.206 and 0.458 µL insect-1, LD90 values were calculated as 0.345, 0.342, 0.402, 0.566 µL insect-1 for 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th instars larvae respectively. These results indicate that H. platytaenium and H. lupulus extracts have great potentials as insecticides in the management of larvae of L. decemlineata. © 2017, Ankara University. Abstract

Objective: Ischaemia-reperfusion (IR) injury is a chain of events put in place by tissue ischaemia. Reperfusion following the cellular damage causes an active inflammatory response. Erythrocyte deformability and plasma viscosity play a critical role in tissue and organ perfusion. In this study we aimed to evaluate the effect of levosimendan and nigella sativa on erythrocyte deformability during myocardial IR injury in rats. Methods: Twenty-four Wistar albino rats were included in the study. The animals were randomly divided into four experimental groups. The coronary arteries of rats in Group C (control group) were not occluded or reperfused. Myocardial IR was performed by ligating the left anterior descending coronary artery for 30 min, followed by 2 h of reperfusion in the IR (IR), IR-levosimendan (24µg/kg) (IRL) group and IR-nigella sativa (0.2 mL/kg) (IRNS) group. Abstract

In recent years, life quality of the urban areas is a growing interest of civil engineering. Environmental quality is essential to display the position of sustainable development and asserts the corresponding countermeasures to the protection of environment. Urban environmental quality involves multidisciplinary parameters and difficulties to be analyzed. The problem is not only complex but also involves many uncertainties, and decision-making on these issues is a challenging problem which contains many parameters and alternatives inherently. Multicriteria decision analysis (MCDA) is a very prepotent technique to solve that sort of problems, and it guides the users confidence by synthesizing that information. Environmental concerns frequently contain spatial information. Spatial multicriteria decision analysis (SMCDA) that includes Geographic Information System (GIS) is efficient to tackle that type of problems. This study has employed some geographic and urbanization parameters to assess the environmental urbanization quality used by those methods. The study area has been described in five categories: very favorable, favorable, moderate, unfavorable, and very unfavorable. The results are momentous to see the current situation, and they could help to mitigate the related concerns. The study proves that the SMCDA descriptions match the environmental quality perception in the city.
