Aim: The purpose of this study is comparison of three type of exercise sequence on maximum strength in untrained young men after 8 weeks of resistance training. Methods : Prior to the training program, participants were randomly assigned to three groups. One group began with upper to lower body (G1) while another performed lower to upper body (G2) or one exercise in upper body and one exercise in lower body order (G3). Training frequency was three sessions per week with at least 48 h of rest between sessions for a total of 24 sessions in the 8-week period. One repetition maximum (1RM) was assessed for all exercises at baseline and after 8 weeks of training. Results : The results indicate that the maximum strength increased after all sessions, but the increase was not significantly difference between groups (p < 0.05). These results indicate that performing exercises first in upper-body/lower-body or alternate in a bout of resistance exercise was not to leads difference in maximum strength. Conclusions : These results indicate that one exercise in upper body and one exercise in lower body order not provided greater strength gains than both muscle group upper and lower body exercises (p < 0.05).

Limitations in liver transplantation and advances in cell therapy methods motivated us to study primary hepatocytes. The main challenge in using primary hepatocytes for liver regeneration is that they lose their functionalities. We aimed to develop a controlled-shape hydrogel and apply the conditioned-media of mesenchymal stromal cells (CM-MSCs) to improve in vitro hepatocyte functions. In this experimental study, following rat hepatocyte isolation by collagenase perfusion and collection of human umbilical cord CM-MSCs, a simple and precise system called electrodeposition was used to produce the patterned alginate hydrogel. To reduce the cytopathic effects, we used an indirect electrodeposition method. For characterizing this structure, mechanical properties, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), water uptake, in-vitro degradation, and hydrogel stability were studied. Urea synthesis as a basic function of hepatocytes was assessed in five different groups. Scanning electron microscope (SEM) was utilized to evaluate the primary hepatocyte morphology and their dispersion in the fabricated structure. We observed a significant increase in urea synthesis in the presence of CM-MSCs in patterned hydrogel alginate compared to 2D culture on day 3 (p <0.05). However, there was no significant difference in simple and patterned hydrogel on day 2. We found that the electrodeposition method is appropriate for the rapid fabricating of hydrogel structures with arbitrary patterns for 3D cell culture. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objective: Thepurpose of this study was to investigate the effect of 6 weeks of HIIT training combining nano-curcumin supplement on antioxidant defense and lipid degradation in overweight girls. Materials and Methods: The research method was semiexperimental study. Accordingly, 48 overweight girl students were randomly divided into four groups: training (n=12), training-supplement (n=12), supplement (n=12) and control group (n=12). Supplement groups consumed 80 mg nano-curcumin capsule daily. Training groups performed an exercise protocol of HIIT training with maximum heart rate for 6 weeks (three sessions per week). The control group did not have any regular exercise. Blood samples were obtained before and after training period for antioxidant indicators and lipid degradation measurement. T-test and one-way analysis of variance were used for the evaluation of within-group and between-group differences, respectively. Results: A significant increase was observed in serum levels of Malondialdehyde (P-value= 0.004) in the training group after 6 weeks. Also, there was a significant increase in serum Glutathione (P-value= 0.001), Superoxide dismutase (P-value= 0.006) and Catalase indexes (Pvalue= 0.01) in the supplement group. Moreover, a significant increase in catalase (P-value= 0.001), glutathione (P-value= 0.006), superoxide dismutase (P-value= 0.015) and glutathione peroxidase indexes (Pvalue= 0.05) and a significant decrease in malondialdehyde (P-value= 0.009) were observed in the training supplement group. Conclusion: A positive antioxidant effect was seen, so taking curcumin supplement along with exercises may have beneficial effects on reinforcement the antioxidant system and prevention of lipid peroxidation in overweight individuals. To address the hypothesis that using a zirconia (ZrO2)/ β-tricalcium phosphate (β-TCP) composite might improve both the mechanical properties and cellular compatibility of the porous material, we fabricated ZrO2/β-TCP composite scaffolds with different ZrO2/β-TCP ratios, and evaluated their physical and mechanical characteristics, also the effect of three-dimensional (3D) culture (ZrO2/β-TCP scaffold) on the behavior of human endometrial stem cells. Results showed the porosity of a ZrO2/β-TCP scaffold can be adjusted from 65% to 84%, and the compressive strength of the scaffold increased from 4.95 to 6.25 MPa when the ZrO2content increased from 30 to 50 wt%. The cell adhesion and proliferation in the ZrO2/β-TCP scaffold was greatly improved when ZrO2decreased. Moreover,in vitrostudy showed that an osteoblasts-loaded ZrO2/β-TCP scaffold provided a suitable 3D environment for osteoblast survival and enhanced bone regeneration. We thus showed that a porous ZrO2/β-TCP composite scaffold has excellent mechanical properties, and cellular/tissue compatibility, and would be a promising substrate to achieve both bone reconstruction and regeneration needed duringin vivostudy for treatment of large bone defects. Objective: In Parkinson's disease (PD), mitochondrial defects and oxidative stress cause an increase in free radicals and the death of dopaminergic neurons in the substantia nigra. By preventing lipid peroxidation and protecting against peroxide radicals, vitamin E is the most important antioxidant of biological membranes that can neutralize free radicals. Also, the improvement of the functional status of mitochondria can be influenced by exercise, which can be partially the result of changes in the mitochondrial mitophagy and dynamics system. This study aimed to investigate the interactive effects of six weeks of vitamin E (VE) consumption and training on the mitochondrial function [Cytochrome C (Cyt-C), Adenosine triphosphate (Atp) synthase, optical atrophy1 mitochondrial dynamics like guanosine triphosphatase (GTPase), 8-Oxodequanosin and Pten induced kinase 1 (Pink1) is a protein coding gene] in the hippocampus tissue of PD rats. Materials and Methods: In this experimental study, 4-6-month-old Sprague-Dawley rats (mean weight 250 ± 30 g) were given parkinsonism with reserpine (2 mg/kg) and were categorized into different groups, including healthy (H), PD, VE solvent+PD (Sham), aerobic exercise+PD (AE+PD), VE+PD, AE+VE+PD. The aerobic training program was carried out for six weeks and 5 sessions per week and each session lasted 15-22 minutes. VE was also taken orally at 30 mg/kg daily. Results: A six-week regimen of VE supplement along with the AE significantly reduced the Cyt-C gene expression level, also we observed a significant increase in gene expression level of the Pink1, Atp synthase and Opa1 (P<0.05). There is no significant difference was found in the level of 8-Oxog detected in hippocampal tissue samples (P>0.05). Background: Meteorin-like hormone (Metrnl) is a myokine with immunoregulatory traits. This study aimed at evaluating the response of the plasma levels of Metrnl to a downhill running exercise (DHRE) in humans., Methods: Twenty active male college students (aged: 22±1.5 years, BMI: 23.50±2.91 kg/m 2 ) completed this study. They performed a skeletal muscle-damaging exercise protocol e.g., downhill running exercise (DHRE) on treadmill. Blood samples were drawn before and after the exercise protocol to measure plasmatic values of Metrnl, eosinophil count, creatine kinase (CK), and lactate dehydrogenase (LDH)., Results: Plasma Metrnl level showed a significantly increased level in response to the DHRE (P=0.007). CK (P=0.004), LDH (P=0.001) and the number of plasma eosinophils (P=0.002) also showed significantly increased values following DHRE. Additionally, we found a significant and positive correlation between changes of plasma Metrnl level with those of the number of eosinophils (P<0.05)., Conclusions: Downhill running exercise associated with noticeable skeletal muscle damage is accompanied by significantly increased plasma Metrnl level as well as eosinophils' number in sedentary humans.
