Many strategic efforts were made to address nurses’ shortage in controlling Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), including recruiting student health volunteers. This review aimed to explore the contribution and involvement of nursing student volunteers during COVID-19.

Since the emergence of the COVID-19 outbreak in Wuhan, China, the world has undergone drastic changes. The Delta variant has high transmissibility and evades human cellular defenses. Data from the World Health Organization (WHO) recorded over 31.654 million cases and 4 million COVID-19 deaths as of December 2022. Hospitals have faced challenges in patient management and healthcare worker protection. This study discusses the relationship between nurses' knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors regarding the use of personal protective equipment in Indonesian COVID-19 referral hospitals. This study utilized a quantitative analytical observational method with a cross-sectional approach. The research was conducted in four COVID-19 referral hospitals in the Yogyakarta Special Region in Indonesia. This study shows that there is no significant relationship between attitudes and behaviors in the use of PPE; however, a positive correlation exists. Most nurses in COVID-19 isolation wards demonstrate good knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors toward the use of PPE. There is a positive correlation between knowledge and attitudes, as well as nurses' behaviors in using PPE. • Enhancing PPE Compliance: This study suggests that improving knowledge and attitudes among healthcare workers can enhance compliance with proper PPE usage. • Future Research Directions: Future research could explore additional factors influencing PPE compliance and identify specific interventions to promote safe practices during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. • Room for Improvement: Despite generally positive findings, some nurses still exhibit inadequate knowledge and negative attitudes toward PPE usage, indicating the need for ongoing education and support. Introduction: Nurses play critical roles in disaster management and are required to demonstrate leadership by dealing with disaster events effectively. This study aimed to identify the nurse leadership indicators at each phase of disaster management. Methods: A qualitative descriptive study was conducted in two phases between November 2017 -January 2018 at two regional hospitals and one central hospital in Yogyakarta. The first phase involved semi-structured in-depth interviews with seven emergency nurses, and the second was a focus group discussions with five nurses' managers or lecturers. Participants were selected using a purposive sampling technique. Data Analyze used a modified version framework method. Results: We found 49 indicators of nurse leadership in disaster management. We grouped indicators into two major groups: common indicators (27 indicators) and specific indicators (22 indicators). Four themes were obtained according to the disaster management phases: nurse leadership in the mitigation phase, the preparedness phase, the response phase, and the recovery/rehabilitation phase. Each theme contains three main sub-themes (3Cs): character, competence, and the central role of the leader. Conclusion: Using the International Council of Nurses (ICN) framework's disaster phase as a conceptual basis, 49 nurse leadership indicators were identified as potential information for future items candidates of the instrument for measuring nurse leadership in disaster management. During the COVID-19 pandemic, health workers' workload is increasing, with the risk of burnout. Several instruments for assessing burnout have been developed since the concept was coined in the 1970s. It is important to map and describe the application of burnout instruments for health workers in the current COVID-19 pandemic situation. This article aimed to map and describe what instruments are used and variations of their application to research burnout in health workers during the COVID-19 pandemic. This scoping review searched articles systematically through 7 databases (PubMed, Clinical Key, Scopus, EBSCOhost, APA PsycINFO, Science Direct, and Wiley Online Library). Articles were screened and analyzed following the Arksey and O'Malley framework. From 507 results, 31 peer-reviewed articles were selected. These studies involved 33,879 participants from various health professions. Generally, the research instrument is still dominated by Maslach Burnout Inventory. Applications of burnout measurements vary widely because there is no consensus on the concept of burnout assessment. Inconsistency in burnout-measuring tools can be seen as providing flexibility and alternatives, but at the same time, it is a gap that challenges researchers to develop more comprehensive instruments, especially for the burnout phenomenon in health workers during the COVID-19 pandemic.
