An environment of turbulence in the market in recent years and increasing inflation, mainly as a result of the post-COVID period and the ongoing military operation in Ukraine, represents a significant financial risk factor for many companies, which has a negative impact on managerial decisions. A lot of enterprises are forced to look for ways to effectively assess the riskiness of the projects that they would like to implement in the future. The aim of the article is to present a new approach for companies with which to assess the riskiness of projects. The basis of this is the use of the new Crystal Ball software tool and the effective application of the Monte Carlo method. The article deals with the current issues of investment and financial planning, which are the basic pillars for effective management decisions with the goal of sustainability. The article has verified a methodology that allows companies to make effective investment decisions based on assessing the level of risk. For practical application, the Monte Carlo method was chosen, as it uses sensitivity analysis and simulations, which were evaluated for two types of projects. Both simulations were primarily carried out based on a deterministic approach through traditional mathematical models. Subsequently, stochastic modeling was performed using the Crystal Ball software tool. As a result of the sensitivity analysis, two tornado graphs were created, which display risk factors according to the degree of their influence on the criterion value. The output of this article is the presentation of these new approaches for financial decision-making within companies.

In general, it is more expensive and time consuming to acquire a new business instead of building upon an existing relationship. It is absolutely necessary to understand what is passengers´ perception of airport services in case an airport aspires to assess its handling services performance. Customer perspective in the Balanced Scorecard (BSC) method is an ideal tool to gather all data how passengers feel about airport handling and other hospitality processes at airports. This perspective, together with perspective of the internal processes and the perspective of learning and grow, are titled as ´forward-looking indicators´. The customer perspective delivers new, and a very specific view on measuring of airports´ vitality. This paper deals with BSC customer perspective when applied by airport managers as an essential part of their business strategies. Beside customer perspective’s specific features, this study describes effective research methods and results analysis, applicable in airports in line with the basis theoretical aspects of Balanced Scorecard method.

The article is focused on analysis of financial cost effectiveness and the utilization of business premises in the terminal building of Bratislava Airport. Our analysis is based on a comparison of sales, profitability, and number of customers of individual newsagents of the GGT a. s. company, which operates three such newsagent stands at the examined airport. Each of the newsagents are located in a different part of the airport terminal, namely Schengen, non-Schengen and check-in area. The examined shops will serve as a practical example of the usability of these areas, and our goal is to find out which of these parts of the Bratislava Airport terminal building is most used by passengers and airport visitors. The data was collected for the period from 1st January 2018 to 31st December 2018, covering one full calendar year, which is a sufficient period for our analysis.

In this paper, we describe the design of the on-board anti-collision system. We assume that all flying objects work in the aviation communications network and each of the flying objects transmits their location information. The basic condition for the operation of the proposed anti-collision system is asynchronous communication network. Each network user is precisely determined by the time of broadcasting communications messages. This means that every user who works on this network has information about the time of broadcasting signals to other users. Based on this, we have designed an anti-collision system that will work on the principle of relative navigation.

Wizzair was the first low-cost airline to operate at Kosice Airport. From the beginning, it has shown exceptionally good results and the occupancy of its lines has been over 80%. The situation that took place in Vienna forced Wizzair to cancel the base in Kosice and to move the fleet to Vienna. Ryanair takes advantage of this change and enters the market with practically the same line as Wizzair from Kosice to London. The aim of this paper is to describe the situation at Kosice airport. The competitive fight between these two companies is visible from the very first moment when Ryanair introduced its flights at a much better price than Wizzair. The paper also focuses on the comparing these prices and fares as well as the profit over the period under review.

The main aim of the paper is to economically compare UAV and helicopters used for terrain mapping. Terrain mapping is used in many areas and technology is constantly evolving in the industry. Both means are used under different conditions. A UAV is well suited for landscape photography and detailed photography of small areas, and also video recording at low altitudes. A UAV using LiDAR technology can map a relatively small area with great details. A photogrammetry helicopter can map a large area in a short time, but the sharpness and detail of the image is not as high as using LiDAR technology. Differences between both means are great not only on economic side but also speed and size of covered area is different.

Customers and also sellers pay attention to prices. The airline is the seller in this analysis. For the airline, the price is very significant, as it brings to the company the funds that are needed for further activities. The price also brings a profit for the effort that has been expended. In particular, the price of the product is from the customer’s point of view the most important factor that has a great impact on sales. The price is constantly influenced by the company’s goal, competition, marketing mix strategy, demand, inflation, costs and the nature of the market. We can therefore argue that pricing needs to be constantly monitored and adjusted, as it is a dynamic and ever-changing process that helps the airline to survive with the highest possible profit or, conversely, with the least possible losses. For the airline, pricing policy and pricing tactics play a major role, as its success in the aviation market depends on the correct determination and setting of prices. The analysis is focused on monitoring ticket sales during selected days and processing flight data. The aim is to find out the specifics of flying sales based on the evaluation of the results of observation of individual flights from Slovakia to the selected destination..

During their rescue activities, the Fire and Rescue services and the rescuers themselves also use aviation technology, which has become an integral part of rescue activities. Aviation technology is used for rapid transport, the search for people, the rapid overcoming of inaccessible terrain, and finally for the transport of fire extinguishers to the fire site. Such fires, where aircraft are often used for liquidation, include forest fires. The statistics, which are processed annually in Slovakia, tell us that forest fires are constantly there, and, in addition, their number is growing every year and thus causes significant material and environmental damage. In the article, we will also compare the effectiveness of aviation technology in maneuvering and applying an extinguishing agent to a fire site on a selected example.

Accurate navigation systems allow us to optimize the trajectory of flying objects and thus solve environmental problems in aviation and their impact on public health. In this paper, we present one of the methods of assessment of accuracy and resistance to interference of distance-measuring equipment (DME). By using computer technology, the method enables us to determine the potential but also the real error measuring the distance of the flying object from DME. The credibility of the respective results of the solution on the task of DME optimal rangefinder synthesis depends on the accuracy of the previous data used, i.e., mathematical models of the respective flying objects flight dynamics, useful signals, and their parameters and interference. DME systems have an impact on air transport safety, and therefore the impact of interference on their operation must be investigated.

The article deals with the issue of educating managers. The first part of the article discusses the requirements for managers skills, managerial competencies, a successful manager profile, and the importance of manager training. The second part of the article evaluates the questionnaire survey conducted at VSE Holding a.s. Focused on the effectiveness of the education of company managers. Based on the survey, individual areas of company manager education are proposed within the programs.

Education is a lifelong process. Nowadays, it is getting a new form of traction in one of the most dynamic sectors - air transport. We have recently witnessed several serious air accidents that have rocked the airline industry. It is the emergency services that are the bodies that can eliminate the consequences of air accidents or minimize the risks and impacts. Firefighters training is carried out continuously throughout the year with a pre-defined curriculum. However, the issue of aircraft and air accident interventions is devoted only to training fire departments operating at airports. Fire brigade units operating outside airports are not involved nor trained in the field of air accident intervention. This was the reason for the proposal and approval of the project called Simulation of Air Accident Intervention under the auspices of the Ministry of the Interior of the Czech Republic. The outcome of the project was to prepare educational and simulation software, which would serve to increase capabilities, skills and the theoretical knowledge of firefighters on the issue of air crash response. The project outputs are focused on training of fire brigade units.

The aim of the paper is to examine the methods, forms and didactic means of aviation education of military pilots at the selected institutions from 1973 to the present using the analysis for the quality teaching process and the interaction of edutants (human factors) - teachers and students, based on the SWOT analysis of selected historical data. The paper is the second part of the study on the issue of aviation education, which answers the question of strengths and weaknesses, risks and opportunities for the future education quality aspects. The main motive of our pre-research and historical data analysis is to acquire the knowledge applicable to the creation of new study programs of the Faculty of Aeronautics of the Technical University of Kosice (FA) in the study field Transport according to the new descriptions approved by the Accreditation commission.

The aim of paper is to identify the risks of university aviation education of military pilots at the selected institutions from 1973 to the present using the analysis for the quality teaching process and the interaction of edutants (human factors) teachers and students. The paper is the third part of the study on the above issue of aviation education, which answers the question of the research identification of data. The main motive of our pre-research and historical data analysis is to acquire the knowledge applicable to the creation of new study programs of the Faculty of Aeronautics of the Technical University of Kosice (FA) in the study field Transport according to the new descriptions approved by the Accreditation commission. Not everything from the history of aviation education was bad and unusable for the present and the future.

The article is the first part of the study on the issue of aviation education, which answers the question of strengths and weaknesses, risks and opportunities for quality content. The result is knowledge applicable in the creation of content for new study programs of the Faculty of Aeronautics of the Technical University in Kosice.

The article is dedicated to materials compositions of aircraft up to 2000 kg MTOW (maximum take-off weight) in the Czech Republic. The aerospace industry was among the first to realize the benefits of composite materials. The research of the airplane construction materials involved analyzing of 78 airplane types registered in the Aircraft Register by the Civil Aviation Authority in the Czech Republic.

This paper deals with the civil aviation experience focused on the impact of global climate change on the operational and performance parameters of the Cessna Citation XLS+ aircraft and consequently on the whole aviation. The aim of this article is to do a research, study and analyze the influence of the global climate change (especially temperature changing – warming up) on this aircraft type performance and make an evaluation and conclusion for how it can affect the operation, economy and safety of the air traffic flow management. The theoretical and practical part of the article includes a system analysis of temperature changes and operational performances of the selected type of aircraft. The result and benefits of the paper is a response on the current issue: how the global climate change can influence the Civil/ Military aircraft operational parameters. This experience is also a part of the Knowledge Alliance of Aviation Education. The perspective international Expert Database of Civil and Military Aviation Experience is still in progress.

The environment is being polluted by many industrial factors these days. One of the most polluting factors is fires due to their negative impact on the nature, atmosphere and human health. The article is dedicated to civil aircraft fires. The analysis herein focuses on the examination of materials, mostly composites, and their behaviour during fires in confined spaces, i.e. inside civil aircraft. Throughout the above analysis, individual structural materials have been categorised by their physical and chemical properties. In order to test the flammability of individual materials, the standard ISO 5660-1:2002 has been used (ISO – International Organization for Standardization). The tests of composites are a part of the project “Simulation of Intervention in Air Accidents”. The outputs have revealed the processes that significantly influence the environment and the health of passengers that could potentially be inside the plane. Thanks to the analysis of the processes happening during fires and to the interpretation of their impact on the environment and people’s health, it has been possible to define fire brigade reaction times and improve the effectiveness of its operations related to plane fires and, subsequently, minimise the impacts of fires on the environment and, most importantly, on human health. At the same time, the statistical significance of the outputs has been examined.

Aircraft accidents are currently a relatively common phenomenon. They are the most distressed situations in civil aviation, critical not only for the general public, but also for air transport operators and airports. Every crisis situation has different impacts on the airport, whether material or financially. The aim of this contribution is to analyze the course and impact of selected crisis situations, including unlawful interference, deterioration of passenger’s health on an aircraft board and crowd psychosis, and then quantify the minimum amount of financial costs that arise in these crises. The calculation of these costs is particularly important for airports and their effective preparation for the possible occurrence of individual crisis situations. This raises the question of whether airports are prepared for the possible occurrence of crisis situations and whether they create at least a minimum financial margin to eliminate the impact of each crisis situation.

The article presents and clarifies the topic that was focused on the influence of stress factors in the manger’s activity. The subject of the evaluation was the impact of stress on the work and performance of managers. Using the methods we used, we learned about whether stress is a daily part of the managerial position from the point of view of the managers themselves. Furthermore, we are dealing with the issue of the extent to which stressful situations affect the quality and efficiency of the work of managers and we are looking for the main causes of stress in the manager’s work. At the same time, we address the possibilities of managing stress, eliminating stress in the work environment, and streamlining workflows in the form of stress stimuli. Last but not least, we have focused on identifying the level of management stress management to support the management of the stresses in organizations where individual managers operate.

The submitted article deals with the supplier quality management in a selected transport company in the Slovak Republic (SR). It describes evaluation of suppliers based on explicitly defined indicators in relation to the overall economic management in the given company. The evaluation model described in the final part of the article, based on the weighed amount method, is open, i.e. it can be supplemented with additional specifics characteristics depending on the needs of a specific company, and applied at the same time to other production as well as non-production companies.
