The process of selecting new uses for heritage buildings needs to consider a number of crucial criteria in order to determine and select the optimum option. The inappropriate selected use of a heritage building can lead to lose its value. This paper aims to introduce an appropriate evaluation tool to support the efficiency in selecting the optimum solution. The integrated multi criteria decision-making tools are used to support decision making in such cases (problems involving multiple criteria). Several MCDM tools have been developed for choosing the optimal probable options. Each tool has its own characteristics in finding the best alternatives. The Analytic Hierarchy Process, (AHP) that was developed by Professor Thomas Saaty in the late 1970s, was the most suitable tool for this study. The software selected and used in this work was Microsoft Excel. Aziza Fahmy Palace was selected as the case study in this paper. There are four suggested alternatives; which are: hotel, museum, office building and mixed uses. Using the application of AHP, the result showed that the best use is mixed uses with the highest value, which is 0.30 (30%), followed in sequential order by museum, office building and hotel. It is an undeniable fact that heritage buildings are a valuable asset for society, it reveals their achievements over the years. Therefore, the need to conserve built heritage has become an increasingly urgent case to experts and the community, they exploit any possible tool to achieve this aim. However, the concept of heritage conservation has completely changed due to the new technologies and inventions which opened up new opportunities to the conservation process of built heritage. This paper focuses on the theoretical parametric approach in generating digital heritage models which will help in the restoration and reconstruction process. A library of parametric heritage models will be designed from architectural books and historic scripts which will then be embedded in a new plug-in for BIM software. This new plug-in will provide multiple solutions for historical buildings which facing certain problems while using manual modelling methods in restoration and reconstruction processes, it will also automate the modelling process by using parametric modelling techniques. This paper addresses solving sustainable construction economic benefits enigma as ‘high capital costs’ and ‘low market value’, comparing with conventional building, creates a dilemma for developers and stakeholders. Many developers and stakeholders do not give much attention to Post Construction stages. The lack of accurate information related to ‘Sustainable construction industry cost’ and ‘value’ means that clients and developers are unable to take the right decisions concerning sustainability. It should be taken in consideration that meeting ‘Sustainability goals’ does not end after the building design is completed.The paper aim is proving that profitable residential buildings are approached by applying project management concepts on sustainable construction projects using ‘Life Cycle Method Approach’ in the ‘Post Construction’ stages, The paper aim would be accomplished through some objectives as: Motivating decision makers to use ‘Sustainable Approach’ in residential buildings industry and Convincing developers and stakeholders to start using a ‘Sustainable Construction’ method. The research concluded that applying project management concepts on sustainable construction projects, specially housing sector, and capital could be the same as, or lower than, that of a traditional building, in addition to that it could be profitable on the long run by considering ‘Life Cycle Method’. According to estimates from the Center for Disease Control (CDC's) in 2008 and the Autism and Developmental Disabilities Monitoring (ADDM) Network in 2010, about 1 in 88 children had Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in 2008 and about 1 in 68 children had Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in (2010). The eighth Scientific Conference for Autism held by the College of Education in conjunction with the Egyptian Society for Hydration Capacities of Children with Special Needs revealed that 1 out of every 80 children in Egypt are suffering from autism and this number in Egypt was expected to rise from 2.3 million in 2001 to 2.9 million in 2017. The reason for many of autistic children’s symptoms is sensory integration; it is the power to understand, organize, and feel sensory data from the environment and body. The issues surrounding sensory integration are presented in hyposensitive and hypersensitive reactions by children with autism to the vestibular, proprioception, tactile, audio, visual, and olfactory senses. A great deal of research has been conducted on gardens and their effect on health outcomes and how a garden may provide benefit: 1. Relief from physical symptoms or awareness of those symptoms. 2. Stress reduction. 3. Improvement in overall sense of well-being. The aim of this paper is to establish a group of guidelines for designing a therapeutic garden for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder to treat the sensory integration problems of children with ASD by designing a sensory garden which should focus on therapeutic interference. By using the elements and principles of design, the guidelines for this garden are focused on producing calming effects for hyper reactive children with ASD and stimulating effects for hypo reactions.

The developed nation's faces the demographic challenges, rapid urbanization, and rapid growth of their cities. The research attempts to create new indicators with several goals to evaluate the city to help developed nation decision makers and planners to do their role in enhancing the quality of life in their cities. First, review of urban challenges and urban development with the increasing of populations. Second, review the conventional urban indicators. Third, formulate of urban planning goals. Finally, it will calculate the comprehensive Planning Capa2 Energy (PC2E) by creating new urban indicators on an agricultural road (Abies) in the middle of Alexandria, Egypt as a case study.

Due to the accelerated pace of urbanization, the study of the local urban microclimate has acquired significance. A detailed and accurate prediction of outdoor ventilation and thermal comfort is required for a healthy environment, particularly in densely built areas, due to the complex interaction of physical phenomena across different length and time scales. Engineering approaches are critical for solving the issues of wind discomfort. These approaches can however not be applied independently of the architectural context. An interdisciplinary approach can bridge the gap between architectural design and engineering wind-comfort solutions in a coastal city of developing countries with a temperate climate. The current study aims to evaluate the effect of urbanization on an asymmetrical historical canyon in the city center of Alexandria, Egypt. Challenges and limitations are imposed regarding applying retrofitting techniques to improve pedestrian comfort without changing the historical features of these areas. This paper provides a Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulation of a residential district in the modern city of Alexandria which contains the library of Alexandria and the two oldest paved roads in the world which still in use until today. The 3D steady Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS) equations and the standard k-e model are used to calculate the aerodynamic flow field. These computational settings were validated with previously published wind-tunnel results. The indices of thermal comfort were calculated using a Predicted Mean Vote (PMV) model utilizing Custom Field Functions (CFF). On-site measurements of air velocity, temperature, and humidity were conducted to validate the thermo-flow characteristics with the numerical simulation and they were in a good agreement. To reach the comfort level which contributes to a pedestrian-friendly environment, it brings a range of measures that covers qualitative design guidelines on street and building level to mitigate wind discomfort and excessive solar access in urban canyons. One of these measures presents (CFD) simulations for comparing the model of the modern city with a visualized model of the ancient city of Alexandria at the end of Cleopatra's reign. This comparison aims to give a close vision on how urbanization has influenced the aerodynamics and thermal comfort in this region. The current study helps urban planners and architects to enhance the current situation for better urban microclimate at the pedestrian level, without setting up new developments during hot summer days.

Freehand sketching – as one of the methods to discover cities – plays main role to understand the image of the heritage city. It is considered as an important tool to analyze and document heritage buildings. The image produced by freehand sketching heightens awareness of these buildings. Previous studies conducted on the methods of architectural heritage documentation revealed that very little researches have been undertaken to use freehand sketching in the process of data survey and documentation. These researches break the deadlock in the textual documents and express the human experience clearly unlike other methods of documentation. Therefore, this article intends to document ten heritage buildings in the study area, Gamal Abdel Nasser street, Alexandria city, Egypt. – One of the most ancient streets in Alexandria that still maintain its old character and identity – using analytical freehand sketches, the sketches and analysis was created by the researcher. The results showed that these buildings seem homogeneous and have a common character despite their different architectural styles which means it respects each other within building regulations. Briefly, the results help to find out how freehand sketching successfully analyzes these buildings that assist the architects and planners to understand the design principles used in ancient times.
