Purpose: The purpose of this study is to identify research gaps and provide an integrative and comprehensive review related to implicit leadership theory (ILTs) and implicit followership theory (IFTs) in the last five years. Design/Methodology/Approach: Using a qualitative systematic review and the content analysis method, we analyzed, summarized, and categorized articles’ recommendations to provide a comprehensive perspective of research gaps and directions for future studies. Findings: Through analyzing 45 articles published in 2016-2021, we clarified the distinction between empirical and theoretical articles. In addition, the results of ILTs and IFTs research gaps were reported in four main categories, namely antecedents, consequences, measurement development, and the content and structure of ILTs and IFTs. Finally, we offered suggestions and directions for future research based on the research gaps identified. Originality/Value: The growing interest in ILTs and IFTs as two of the most absorbing topics in leadership literature has led to the accumulation and dispersal of knowledge. This, in turn, prevents scholars from gaining a holistic and clear approach to theory development and related research gaps. To address the lack of coherence and clarity about ILTs and IFTs research gaps, we provide an integrative and comprehensive review of related research breaks in order to create a framework for future studies. Age-related variations in care have been identified for HIV-associated Pneumocystis carinii pneumonia (PCP) in both the 1980s and 1990s. We evaluated if age-related variations affected all aspects of HIV-specific and non-HIV-specific care for HIV-infected individuals with PCP or community-acquired pneumonia (CAP), or whether age-related variations were primarily limited to HIV-specific aspects of care. Subjects were HIV-infected persons with PCP (n = 1855) or CAP (n = 1415) hospitalized in 8 cities from 1995 to 1997. Nine percent of our study patients had received protease inhibitors and 39% had received any type of antiretroviral therapy prior to hospitalization. Data were abstracted from medical records and included severity of illness, HIV-specific aspects of care (initiation of PCP medications), general measures of care [initiation of CAP medications, intubation, and intensive care units (ICU)], and inpatient mortality. Compared to younger patients, pneumonia patients 50 years of age or older were significantly more likely to: be severely ill (PCP, 20.4% vs. 10.4%; CAP, 27.5% vs. 14.9%; each p = 0.001), receive ICU care (PCP, 22.0% vs. 12.8%, p = 0.002; CAP: 15.1% vs. 9.4%; p = 0.02), and be intubated (PCP, 14.6% vs. 8.4%, p = 0.01; CAP, 9.9% vs. 5.6%, p = 0.03). Compared to younger patients, older patients ([greater than or equal to] 50 years) had similar rates of timely medications for CAP (48.5% vs. 50.8%) but had lower rates of receiving anti-PCP medications (85.8% vs. 92.9%, p = 0.002). Differences by age in timely initiation of PCP medications, ICU use, and intubation were limited to the nonseverely ill patients. Introduction: Adolescence is a crucial period with impressive emotional changes. Emotional disorders such as depression, anxiety and stress are high among adolescents worldwide; however the psychosocial changes are often neglected. The aim of the current study was to determine the depression, anxiety and stress symptoms and their associated factors among adolescents. Methods: A cross-sectional study using cluster sampling was carried out among school-going adolescents in 10 secondary schools in Pasir Gudang, Johor, Malaysia. Respondents answered a self-administered questionnaire including socio-demographic, Inventory of Parent and Peer Attachment (IPPA), Depression Anxiety Stress Scale-21 (DASS-21) and Strength and Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ). Using SPSS-21, chi-square test and binomial logistic regression were conducted to examine the associations between dependent and independent variables. Results: Respondents (52.6% female and 53.9% Malay) had 46.0% prevalence of depression symptoms, 59.1% anxiety, 38.1% stress and 45.6% psychosocial status (internalizing and externalizing problems). Age, father occupation and parental bonding were significantly predicted having moderate to extremely severe depression symptom (p<0.05). Younger adolescents (13-14 years old) were 1.42 times more likely to have anxiety symptom. In addition, respondents with insecure father attachment were 1.5 times more likely to have stress symptom (p<0.05). Respondents with insecure parental attachment were more likely to have psychosocial problem (p<0.05). Conclusions: Depression, anxiety and stress of adolescents were influenced by the sociodemographic of adoleascents and their parents. Age, gender and parental attachment were the significant predictors in the current study which should be the center of attention for the future studies to reduce the psychological disorders among adolescents. Research in the field of factors associated with depression among adolescents is lacking in Malaysia. The aims of the present study were to assess the current prevalence of depression and its related factors among secondary school students in Pasir Gudang, South Malaysia. In this cross sectional study, 2,927 secondary school students (13-17 years old) from urban areas were screened for symptoms of mental disorder as well as demographic and risk behaviors using a validated Depression, Anxiety and Stress Scale (DASS) 12 questionnaire. The majority of the respondents (53.8%) were Malay, of which 53.1% were female. Symptoms of mild depression were found in 33.2% of the respondents, while the prevalence of the symptoms of moderate, severe, and extremely severe depression was 21.5%, 18.1%, and 3.0%, respectively. Logistic regression suggested that participants who were Chinese or had a lower average grade were three times more likely to have depression, while those who came from a single-parent family were twice as likely to have this condition. This study indicated that academic performance and risk behaviors along with the demographic characteristics are important contributors to adolescent depression.
