Femtocells are designed to co-exist alongside macrocells providing higher spectrum efficiency, spatial frequency reuse, to name a few. However, when deployed in the two-tier architecture with macrocells, interference is imminent thereby it is necessary to mitigate the inherent co-tier and cross-tier interference. The integration of cognitive radio (CR) in femtocells introduces the ability of femtocells to dynamically adapt to varying network conditions through learning, adapting, and reasoning leading to informed decisions. This paper proposes a joint threshold power based admittance and contention free resource allocation scheme (known as Proposed SA) for interference mitigation in HetNet cognitive femtocells (CF). In the proposed SA, a CF sets a threshold value on the mutual interference between itself and a close-by mobile user equipment (MUE). To mitigate cross-tier interference, a CF classifies MUEs which fall above this threshold value (high interference value) as Undesired MUEs (UMUEs), whereas MUEs which fall below this threshold are classified as Desired MUEs (DMUEs). To mitigate co-tier interference, proposed SA introduces a scheduling engine which employs matching policy attributes and assigns resource blocks (RBs) of unique DMUEs to CFs to avoid any possible contention problems, thus providing improved co-tier interference. System level simulations have been performed to demonstrate working and effectiveness of proposed SA. Key performance indicators including choice of maximum transmit power for MUE, co and cross tier interference mitigation, as well impact of MUE mobility has been investigated. Performance analysis of the Proposed SA has also found that the scheme performs much better in relation to a random spectrum assignment (Random SA) scheme. The proposed SA caters the mobility of the MUEs very well allowing more and more admittance thereby providing improved interference results and making it a viable candidate for Femtocell Access points (FAPs) implementation.

Abstract In this study, optical Bloch equations with and without neighboring hyperfine states near the degenerate two-level system (DTLS) in the challenging case of $$^{85}$$ 85 Rb D2 transition, which involves the Doppler broadening effect, are solved. The calculated spectra agree well with the experimental results obtained based on the coupling-probe scheme with orthogonal linear polarizations of the coupling and probe fields. The mechanisms of electromagnetically induced absorption (electromagnetically induced transparency) for the open $$F_g=3 \rightarrow F_e=2$$ F g = 3 → F e = 2 and 3 transitions (open $$F_g=2 \rightarrow F_e=2$$ F g = 2 → F e = 2 and 3 transitions) are determined to be the effect of the strong closed $$F_g=3 \rightarrow F_e=4$$ F g = 3 → F e = 4 transition line (strong closed $$F_g=2 \rightarrow F_e=1$$ F g = 2 → F e = 1 transition line); this finding is based on a comparison between the calculated absorption profiles of the DTLS without neighboring states and those of all levels with neighboring states, depending on the coupling and probe power ratios. Furthermore, based on the aforementioned comparison, the crucial factors that enhance or reduce the coherence effects and lead to the transformation between electromagnetically induced absorption and electromagnetically induced transparency, are (1) the power ratios between the coupling and probe beams, (2) the openness of the excited state, and (3) effects of the neighboring states due to Doppler broadening in a real atomic system.

Without a well-defined energy management plan, achieving meaningful improvements in human lifestyle becomes challenging. Adequate energy resources are essential for development, but they are both limited and costly. In the literature, several solutions have been proposed for energy management but they either minimize energy consumption or improve the occupant's comfort index. The energy management problem is a multi-objective problem where the user wants to reduce energy consumption while keeping the occupant's comfort index intact. To address the multi-objective problem this paper proposed an energy control system for a green environment called PMC (Power Management and Control). The system is based on hybrid energy optimization, energy prediction, and multi-preprocessing. The combination of GA (Genetic Algorithm) and PSO (Particle Swarm Optimization) is performed to make a fusion methodology to improve the occupant comfort index (OCI) and decrease energy utilization. The proposed framework gives a better OCI when compared with its counterparts, the Ant Bee Colony Knowledge Base framework (ABCKB), GA-based prediction framework (GAP), Hybrid Prediction with Single Optimization framework (SOHP), and PSO-based power consumption framework. Compared with the existing AEO framework, the PMC gives practically the same OCI but consumes less energy. The PMC framework additionally accomplished the ideal OCI (i-e 1) when compared with the existing model, FA–GA (i-e 0.98). The PMC model consumed less energy as compared to existing models such as the ABCKB, GAP, PSO, and AEO. The PMC model consumed a little bit more energy than the SOHP but provided a better OCI. The comparative outcomes show the capability of the PMC framework to reduce energy utilization and improve the OCI. Unlike other existing methodologies except for the AEO framework, the PMC technique is additionally confirmed through a simulation by controlling the indoor environment using actuators, such as fan, light, AC, and boiler. We have studied the effects of neighboring transitions on electromagnetically induced absorption (EIA) and electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) in the D2 transition line in Rb atoms with respect to the same circular polarization configurations (σ+−σ+) of coupling and probe lasers. Spectra for the open Fg=2→Fe=2 transition of 87Rb and the Fg=3→Fe=2 and 3 transitions of 85Rb exhibit EIA, resulting from the neighboring effect of Fg=2→Fe=3 and Fg=3→Fe=4 transitions, respectively. In contrast, EIT is observed for the open Fg=2→Fe=1 transition of 87Rb, which indicates greater hyperfine energy splittings of 87Rb and weaker neighboring effects than those of 85Rb. Based on the theoretical results, we can confirm that EIT in the case of Fg>Fe for 87Rb for the same circular polarization configuration transforms into EIA due to the magnitude of the neighboring effects with a decrease in the hyperfine energy splittings.

Vehicle to everything (V2X) faces several challenges including high data rate, low latency and stable connectivity requirements. Due to increased number of connected vehicles, Interference too appears to be a serious issue in V2X systems. Consequently, careful selection of multiple access techniques can lead to improved interference mitigation together with higher spectral efficiency and data rate. Vehicle mobility with growing traffic density is a demanding task that affects probability of vehicle connectivity, thereby resulting into requirement of sustained vehicle linkage for ongoing traffic safety. In this regard, our paper employs Rate Splitting Multiple Access (RSMA) technique, which considers change of both channel strength and direction for improved interference mitigation leading towards enhanced spectral efficiency. RSMA is optimized for weighted sum rate, further; it is integrated with mobility management to demonstrate sustained connectivity in the presence of increased traffic density. Presented results have been found promising, both in terms of spectral efficiency and stable connectivity. RSMA 5G V2X outperformed at higher Signal to noise ratio (SNR) values and on average achieved 25% better spectral efficiency compared to Non Orthogonal Multiple Access (NOMA) technique.
