Objective: To determine the frequency of NSTEMI (non- st elevation myocardial infarction) in acute coronary syndrome patients presenting with the chest pain in emergency department of tertiary care hospital. Study Design: Cross Sectional study. Setting: Jinnah Post graduate Medical College Hospital Karachi. Period: June 20, 2023. Methods: Enrolling 112 consecutive volunteers was carried out Interview questions focused on the participants’ smoking, blood pressure, diabetes, and type of chest pain. Whether or not the participants had ACS, their diagnosis was documented. NSTEMI frequency was computed. Results: We have 112 patients enrolled with mean age was 52.73±14.24 years. Sixty five (58%) were male while forty seven (41.9 %) were females. out of 112 patients 45 (40.1%) were hypertensive, 32(28.5%) were diabetes and 29 (25.8%) were smoker. Among the participants 21 (18.7%) had NSTEMI and showed positive correlation with age, gender, nature of chest pain, hypertension and smoking. Conclusion: Among the individuals, one of the most frequent causes of chest pain was acute coronary syndrome. High suspicion and additional testing are they key tools for early diagnosis and management. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This study conducted a comprehensive statistical analysis of the symptoms and impact of dengue fever, incorporating additional factors such as prevention awareness, disease control, aftereffects, disease stages, serotypes, recovery, and treatment. Data were gathered through questionnaires from 400 students across various departments at Peshawar University, representing both urban and rural areas. The data were processed using SPSS (Version 20) and analyzed using methods like odds ratio, chisquare, pie charts, and bar charts to examine the different symptoms and impacts of dengue fever in this study the findings revealed that approximately one-third of the respondents aged 18-30 had been affected by dengue fever. The results indicate a significant association between these two variables. Furthermore, the odds ratio of 0.5 suggests that respondents aged 18 to 25 are half as likely to isolate during dengue compared to those aged 26 to 35. The study identified common symptoms such as headache, flu-like symptoms, rash, joint and muscle pain, loss of appetite, abdominal pain, and bleeding from the gums. A majority (68.25%) considered dengue a serious illness, and 63.3% perceived it as more prevalent in urban areas. Additionally, the research indicated that a significant number of respondents were skeptical about the long-term effects of dengue, such as hair loss and alopecia, despite existing evidence suggesting these outcomes this study underscores the importance of understanding the prevalence and implications of dengue fever and emphasizes the need for heightened awareness and effective preventive measures. Cricket is the sports of the day. Almost all age groups have their association with cricket. Nowadays time is a constraint and people have thrust to earn more money in less time. To attract more people, ICC decided in 2005 to reduce number of overs and time with new exciting rules for cricket matches. To model players' performance with multidimensional factors statistical techniques are found to be so useful and predictable. Present study aims to quantify the worth of bowler, batter and fielder in T-20. Study develops a performance index for performance measurement. The tuned index will help the team selectors to compare performance of players. The technique will help in identifying the best performance and player's induction for coming events. From seven cricket squads a sample of 12 players satisfying the set criteria, is taken from Bangladesh premier league(BPL) 2013-16 and T-20 world cup (WC) 2014-16. Data regarding selected variables are obtained from entertainment and sports programming network (ESPN), the single sport world's leading cricket website. For measurement, each player was observed for a certain skill and the level of skill it has, derived index is ranged from zero to one. High index score reveals a high performance. A study of the recovery of the hydrophobicity of high temperature vulcanized (HTV) silicone rubber (SIR) after immersion for 3000 h in saline solutions of different conductivities (0.005-100 mS/cm) and at different temperatures (0-98 [degrees]C) as a function of time (0 to 3000 h) is reported. The hydrophobicity characterized as the ability of the material to bead water is determined by measuring the static contact angle 0 between the tangent to the droplet of distilled water and the horizontal surface of the HTV SIR. After removal from the saline solution the recovery of the contact angle was determined at 22[+ or -]3 [degrees]C in air. The contact angle recovered from its lowest value of 15[degrees] after immersion in distilled water at 98 [degrees]C for 3000 h to 100[degrees] after 3000 h of recovery. The percentage reduction in weight during recovery due to drying of the specimens at 22 [degrees]C was determined. The surface roughness which affects the hydrophobicity was monitored during the recovery period. The changes in the weight and surface roughness of the specimens are correlated with the contact angle and hence with the recovery of the hydrophobicity of HTV SIR. The surface properties during recovery were examined using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive X-ray (EDS) spectroscopy and Attenuated total reflection Fourier transform infrared (ATR-FTIR) spectroscopy. A study of the loss of hydrophobicity of high temperature vulcanized (HTV) silicone rubber (SIR) after immersion in saline solutions as a function of time (0 to 3000 h) at different temperatures is reported. The hydrophobicity is determined by measuring the static contact [theta] between the tangent to the droplet of distilled water and the horizontal surface of the HTV SIR. The conductivity of the saline solution was varied from 0.005 to 100 mS/cm and the temperature from 0 to 98[degrees]C. The contact angle which gives a measure of the hydrophobicity of the surface decreased sharply during immersion. The contact angle decreased from the original value of 100 [+ or -] 4.6[degrees] to low value of 15[degrees] after 3000 h of immersion at 98[degrees]C in a solution of 0.005 mS/cm. The lower the conductivity, the larger was the decrease in the contact angle. The changes in the weight of the HTV SIR due to the uptake of water and the average surface roughness (ASR) are determined during the immersion. The increase/decrease in the weight and surface roughness of the HTV SIR are correlated with the contact angle and hence with the loss of hydrophobicity. The surface free energies [[gamma].sub.sd], [[gamma].sub.sh] and [[gamma].sub.s], the interfacial energy of HTV SIR and water [[gamma].sub.sl], and the energy of adhesion [W.sub.sl] of water on HTV SIR are determined as a function of time during the immersion and related to the loss of hydrophobicity. Background: Conventional axillary lymph node dissection (ALND) is associated with significant post-operative morbidity in patients undergoing breast surgery due to increased lymphatic leakage. LigaSure, an electrothermal bipolar vessel sealing system, provides better closure of the leakage. This study aims to compare the efficacy and safety of LigaSure against conventional techniques in patients with breast cancer underwent ALND and breast surgery., Methods: We conducted a comprehensive search across the databases to identify relevant studies. The search results were imported into Covidence for article eligibility screening, and all relevant outcomes data were synthesized using odd ratios (ORs) or standardized mean differences (SMDs) with 95% confidence intervals (CIs) in meta-analysis models using RevMan 5.4., Results: Twelve studies with the total of 895 patients (LigaSure = 441; Conventional technique = 454) with breast cancer underwent breast surgery with ALND were included. LigaSure was associated with significantly lower post-operative drain volume (SMD: -0.39, 95% CI [-0.53, -0.24], P < 0.00001), shortened duration of drain (SMD: -0.51, 95% CI [-0.67, -0.34], P < 0.00001), and reduced hospital stay length (SMD: -0.57, 95% CI [-0.96, -0.18], P = 0.004) compared to conventional techniques. Background: Emergency inguinal hernia repair remains the commonest operation performed by general surgeons all over the world. The aim of this study was to compare the mean operative time, post-operative pain, wound infection and early recurrence between Desarda's and Darning emergency inguinal hernia repair., Methods: This is a randomized controlled trial conducted at Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, Karachi. A total of 186 patients of male gender between ages 20-60 years with incarcerated, obstructed and strangulated inguinal hernia were enrolled in the study. Patients with primary and recurrent inguinal hernias were excluded. All patients were randomized to Desarda group (n=93) and Darning group (n=93)., Results: Mean operative time in Desarda group was 55.53±6.81 minutes and mean operative time in darning group was 53.06±5.51 minutes (p-value 0.007). Mild to moderate pain was found insignificantly higher in Desarda group 75 (80.6%) as compared to Darning group 66 (71%) (p-value 0.170). Wound infection was found higher in Desarda group 18 (19.4%) as compared to darning group 9 (9.7%) (p-value 0.061). Recurrence was found significantly higher 15 (55.5%) in Darning group as compared to Desarda group 2 (7.4%) (p-value <0.001)., Conclusions: No significant difference was observed in the postoperative pain, wound infection however, significant differences were observed in the mean operative time and recurrence rates.
