A 46‐year‐old woman underwent pericardiocentesis and pericardial window for recurrent pericardial effusion. She presented 17 months later with signs and symptoms consistent with constrictive pericarditis. Cardiac magnetic resonance imaging revealed an infiltrative mass surrounding the pericardium. Women have been oppressed, subjugated and degraded in the history of the world. However, During the last century, they started to establish their rights and made attempts to end discrimination and injustice against them in the form of women’s movement called Feminism. Feminism is a multidisciplinary conceptual framework to combat global challenges faced by women. This movement tended to concentrate on problems of women in their reproductive and social roles .It emerges from different geographical locations within their local socio- cultural environment. In the Western social contexts, the feminist movement had an enormous impact on women’s struggle for their social and legal rights, over the last two centuries. World wars of twentieth century,anti-colonial movements, developments of social welfare systems and women’s economic autonomy has enabled this half of mankind to speak up for itself. And In most places, their voices have led to changes in the social fabric. Feminist ideology is highly queried and contested. This movement as like other social movements had drawn controversies too. However, at the same time, it has achieved significant success in the political, social, and legal fields for women. Whether it was winning the place in universal suffrage or having the civil rights. Feminism as a socio-political movement has created quite a stir in the male-streamed world, especially in the western countries .Moreover,It was initiated with indigenous instruments in different societies and cultures .One such instance is Islamic feminism where Muslim women are reclaiming their rights through Islam and Quran and in its effect liberating Muslim women from patriarchy .This paper mainly discusses the evolution of feminism in different eras and cultures of the world. Objectives: To find out the frequency of Gestational Diabetes Mellitus (GDM) in the female population of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Material and Methods: Two hundred pregnant women with impaired blood glucose level were included in this cross sectional study conducted in Department of Gynaecology and Pathology Khyber Teaching Hospital and Nasir Teaching Hospital, Peshawar, Pakistan from January 2016 to December 2016. Participants included were women with gestational age up till 28 weeks, with positive family history for diabetes mellitus, signs and symptoms of Diabetes, obesity and bad obstetrical history. Women above the age of 40 years and known diabetics were not included in this study. In accordance to inclusion criteria fasting, random blood sugar levels and OGTT was done. Results: Minimum age was 16 years and maximum age was 40 years with mean age of 28 years (SD ±6.1). The number of female with positive family history for diabetes mellitus was 136 and mostly women of gravida 1 and gravida 2 were affected. Out of total 200 patients, 10% of the participants showed raised sugar level on OGTT. Conclusion: The frequency of Gestational Diabetes Mellitus (GDM) is high amongst the women of KPK in gravida 1 and 2. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Community violence among the youth can lead to a number of adverse psychiatric outcomes including post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). However, little research has been conducted in non-Western countries to assess this problem. This study aims to fill the void by assessing the lifetime exposure to traumatic events and burden of probable PTSD among university students in Karachi, Pakistan. A cross-sectional study was conducted at four private institutions in Karachi. Self-administered questionnaires were filled out by 320 students. Lifetime exposure and symptoms of PTSD were assessed using modified Composite International Diagnostic Interview (CIDI) and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder Checklist–Civilian Version (PCL-C) questionnaires, respectively. A PCL-C score of 44 or above was used as cutoff for probable PTSD. Pearson chi-square test was used to assess the association between PTSD and different variables at a level of significance of 5%. Ninety-three percent of the respondents reported having lifetime exposure to at least one traumatic event with sudden unexpected death of a loved one (n = 187) and assaultive violence (n = 169) being the commonest reported traumatic events. Positive association for PTSD was seen with enduring physical attacks and motor vehicle accidents. Over a quarter of the students screened positive for probable PTSD, among them almost one third were male and 17% were female. Our results indicate a high exposure to violent events and elevated rates of lifetime PTSD among urban youth. Reduction in violence and better access to mental health facilities is warranted to decrease the health burden of PTSD in Pakistan. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
