Features of variation of peripheral blood leukocyte formula parameters in 86 patients with coronavirus pneumonia with leukocytosis with a background of glucocorticoid treatment were investigated. All patients were divided into 2 groups. Group 1 was 22 individuals who showed clinical signs of the bacterial infection (purulent sputum cough in combination with neutrophilic leukocytosis at hospital the admission). The 2nd group was made up of 64 patients with the glucocorticoids developed against the background of treatment with glucocorticoids (dexamethasone 20 mg/day or prednisolone 150 mg/day, intravenously for 3 days) leukocytosis 10 109/l without signs of a bacterial infection. It was found that in patients of the 1st group compared to the 2nd group, levels of the white blood cells and neutrophils significantly (p 0.001) exceeded the reference values in the absence of a significant change in the number of monocytes. In patients of the 2nd group after a three-day intravenous application of the glucocorticoids on the 4th day of hospitalization, a statistically significant (p 0.001) increase in the number of neutrophils and monocytes was established. When comparing the quantitative parameters of the leukocyte formula between the 2nd group on the 4th day of the hospitalization and the 1st group at admission, there were no differences in the level of leukocytes and neutrophils. Number of monocytes in group 2 (1.11 (0.90; 1.34) 109/l), on the contrary, statistically significantly (p 0.001) exceeded their level in the 1st group (0.59 (0.50; 0.77) 109/l). Thus, an indicator of the number of monocytes in the peripheral blood could be a promising differential diagnostic criterion for the genesis of the leukocytosis in patients with the COVID-19. This parameter may be one of the factors influencing the decision to prescribe the antibacterial therapy.

In situ bioprinting is one of the most clinically relevant techniques in the emerging bioprinting technology because it could be performed directly on the human body in the operating room and it does not require bioreactors for post-printing tissue maturation. However, commercial in situ bioprinters are still not available on the market. In this study, we demonstrated the benefit of the originally developed first commercial articulated collaborative in situ bioprinter for the treatment of full-thickness wounds in rat and porcine models. We used an articulated and collaborative robotic arm from company KUKA and developed original printhead and correspondence software enabling in situ bioprinting on curve and moving surfaces. The results of in vitro and in vivo experiments show that in situ bioprinting of bioink induces a strong hydrogel adhesion and enables printing on curved surfaces of wet tissues with a high level of fidelity. The in situ bioprinter was convenient to use in the operating room. Additional in vitro experiments (in vitro collagen contraction assay and in vitro 3D angiogenesis assay) and histological analyses demonstrated that in situ bioprinting improves the quality of wound healing in rat and porcine skin wounds. The absence of interference with the normal process of wound healing and even certain improvement in the dynamics of this process strongly suggests that in situ bioprinting could be used as a novel therapeutic modality in wound healing.

For the first time, the data have been obtained on the effects of high-intensity terahertz (THz) radiation (with the intensity of 30 GW/cm2, electric field strength of 3.5 MV/cm) on human skin fibroblasts. A quantitative estimation of the number of histone Н2АХ foci of phosphorylation was performed. The number of foci per cell was studied depending on the irradiation time, as well as on the THz pulse energy. The performed studies have shown that the appearance of the foci is not related to either the oxidative stress (the cells preserve their morphology, cytoskeleton structure, and the reactive oxygen species content does not exceed the control values), or the thermal effect of THz radiation. The prolonged irradiation of fibroblasts also did not result in a decrease of their proliferative index.

International audience; The new oldest representative of the subfamily Passandrinae (Passandridae) was found in materials from Menat (Puy-de-Dôme, France). It was preliminarily assigned to the genus Passandra Dalman in Schönherr, 1817, although the new species (?) Passandra plenaria sp. n., in contrast to other congeners, demonstrates an exposed labrum and an absence of preapical groove or impression on the hypopygidum. Some notes on fossil records and classification of the family Passandridae are made. The distinctiveness of the families Passandridae and Laemophloeidae in light of the new data on fossils is considered, and the attribution of Mesopassandra Jin, Ślipiński, Zhou and Pang, 2019 (type genus of Mesopassandrinae) to the family Passandridae is regarded as problematic.; Le nouveau représentant le plus ancien de la sous-famille Passandrinae (Passandridae) est décrit du Paléocène de Menat (Puy-de-Dôme, France). Our goal is to analyze the known geographical ranges and diagnostic features of two potentially invasive Asian buprestid species: the quarantine apple tree pest, Agrilus mali Matsumura, and the poplar pest A. fleischeri Obenberger. Based on the examination of museum collections and literature sources, we compiled comprehensive databases of records of the exact collecting sites for both species and generated detailed maps of their ranges. There are 51 documented localities for A. mali in the Russian Far East and East Siberia, Mongolia, China, and the Korean peninsula, and there are 53 documented localities for A. fleischeri in the Far East and Siberia, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, China, and Japan. No evidence of the presence of A. mali in Japan was found. Outbreak sites of A. mali in Xinjiang in the 2000s most likely represent the newly forming invasion areas, their proximity to the wild apple stands in the Kazakh part of the Tien Shan is a direct threat to Kazakhstan and adjacent countries. Sites damaged by A. fleischeri in Liaoning are situated within its native range, the outbreaks were likely triggered by the switch from indigenous to introduced poplars. This situation is similar to the early stages of emerald ash borer (Agrilus planipennis Fairmaire) invasion.

Cytoskeleton systems, actin microfilaments, microtubules (MTs) and intermediate filaments (IFs) provide the biomechanical stability and spatial organization in cells. To understand the specific contributions of each cytoskeleton systems to intrinsic properties of spheroids, we've scrutinized the effects of the cytoskeleton perturbants, cytochalasin D (Cyto D), nocodazole (Noc) and withaferin A (WFA) on fusion, spreading on adhesive surface, morphology and biomechanics of chondrospheres (CSs). We confirmed that treatment with Cyto D but not with Noc or WFA severely affected CSs fusion and spreading dynamics and significantly reduced biomechanical properties of cell aggregates. Noc treatment affected spheroids spreading but not the fusion and surprisingly enhanced their stiffness. Vimentin intermediate filaments (VIFs) reorganization affected CSs spreading only. The analysis of all three cytoskeleton systems contribution to spheroids intrinsic properties was performed for the first time.

The genus Anelastes Kirby, 1819 of the Palaearctic fauna is revised. An amended diagnosis of the genus is elaborated. Two new species from North Africa, Anelastes abbreviatus sp. nov. and A. alius sp. nov. are described. Anelastes barbarus P.H. Lucas, 1846 and A. crenulatus (Bonvouloir, 1875) are redescribed and the lectotypes of both species are designated. A key to the Palaearctic species is provided. Anelastes barbarus is newly recorded from Uzbekistan.

A new genus of the family Drilidae, Drilorhinus gen. nov. with one new species D. klimenkoi sp. nov. from the South-West Iran (Lorestan) is described, illustrated and compared with all known genera of this group. The new genus differs from all members of the family in the strong projection of the anterior part of the frons between antennal insertions. Some problems of taxonomic rank and classification of Drilidae are considered.

Blood cell analysis is one of the standard clinical tests. Despite the widespread use of exogenous markers for blood cell quantification, label-free optical methods are still of high demand due to their possibility for in vivo application and signal specific to the biochemical state of the cell provided by native fluorophores. Here we report the results of blood cell characterization using label-free fluorescence imaging techniques and flow-cytometry. Autofluorescence parameters of different cell types – white blood cells, red blood cells, erythrophagocytic cells – are assessed and analyzed in terms of molecular heterogeneity and possibilities of differentiation between different cell types in vitro and in vivo.

Two new genera and two new species of fossil Throscidae: Potergosoma gratiosa gen. et sp. nov. and Rhomboaspis laticollis gen. et sp. nov. are described from the Lower Cretaceous Lebanese amber and are compared with extant and extinct genera. The described amber inclusions are the oldest known representatives of the family Throscidae. Some hypotheses on the phylogeny of the family Throscidae and the position of it in the superfamily Elateroidea are discussed.

A new genus of the family Brachypsectridae with two new species, Asiopsectra luculenta gen. et sp. n. (type species) from the Middle East (Iran) and A. mirifica sp. n. from Middle Asia (Tajikistan) are described. The genus Asiopsectra gen. n., in contrast to the genus Brachypsectra, is characterized by the 12-segmented bilamellate antennae, the very large and subcontiguous antennal fossae, the strongly raised supra-antennal keels, the very narrow mandibles, the presence of small “window” punctures on the elytra, the lack of keels along the posterior pronotal angles, and only a small patch of excretory hairs at the posterior edge of abdominal ventrite 5. A revised diagnosis for the family Brachypsectridae is given.

Allenipeplus gen. nov. represented by A. philippinensis sp. nov., type species (Philippines, Luzon), A. alius sp. nov. (Philippines, Mindoro), A. harmonicus sp. nov. (Philippines, Mindanao) and A. vitellinus sp. nov. (Indonesian New Guinea), is described. This new genus combines characters with a mosaic spread among other cillaeine genera. We present a wide comparison of genera among the subfamily Cillaeinae, making it possible to elaborate a detailed diagnosis of the new genus and trace some order in character patterns and propose a hypothesis on the relationship of this genus to other groups known from the Indo-Malayan and Australian Regions. A detailed diagnosis of the new genus and key to the new species are given. The Adocimus-complex of the related genera including Allenipeplus gen. nov., Adocimus Murray, 1864, Ithyphenes Murray, 1864, Platynema Ritsema, 1885 and probably Brittonema Kirejtshuk, 2011 is defined. Some notes on the taxonomy of the genera Liparopeplus Murray, 1864 and Xanthopeplus Fairmaire, 1880, stat. nov. are given. Additionally, designation of a lectotype for Liparopeplus colastoides Murray, 1864 is made.

The distribution of the genus Stenelmis (Elmidae) of the Caucasus is reviewed based on materials collected by the authors and examined specimens stored in accessible collections. One of the two species present in this region, represented by the subspecies Stenelmis consobrina consobrina Dufour, 1835, is recorded for the first time in Krasnodar Krai and possibly in Armenia; Stenelmis puberula Reitter, 1887 is recorded for the first time in Russia (Krasnodar Krai and the Republic of Adygea) and Abkhazia.

Caledomus extraordinarius gen. et sp. nov. of the subfamily Cillaeinae is described from New Caledonia (Tinchialit). This new genus is a member of the Adocimus-complex of genera. The new name Brittonoma nom. nov. is proposed for the junior homonym Brittonema Kirejtshuk, 2011, non Thorne, 1967.

The genus Calycina Blair, 1922 (Mordellinae, Mordellini) is one of the most fascinating and enigmatic genera of Mordellidae. The genus exhibits a pantropical distribution: one species with two subspecies in South America (Horak 1999; Leblanc 2013), one species in Africa (Horak 1999), three species in Southeast Asia (Horak 1999) and two species in the Papuan Region (Horak 1999; Ruzzier 2013). All species are known from only a few specimens, almost exclusively females, and appear to be generally very rare. Only Calycina major Nomura, 1967 and Calycina nigroapicalis Nomura, 1967 reach the Palearctic Region (Horak 2008; Ruzzier 2013) and no other species have been recorded from higher latitudes. The opportunity to study specimens from the Primorye region (Russian Far East) allowed the authors to identify a new species that is described below.

Although ICD implantation has become a cornerstone in primary and secondary prevention of sudden cardiac death, many problems are still encountered due to tachycardia cycle length, morphology and frequency, as well as different organic heart pathology. Therefore it is necessary to prevent different conditions which may promote high defibrillation thresholds. In this article, the authors tried to determine these specific conditions [1]. Similar studies have also been reported by Lin et al. [2] and Vischer et al. [3]. All of these studies place patients with low left ventricular ejection fraction and young age in the high risk group. The major risks of DFT testing are related to DFT test-induced ventricular fibrillation and the electric shock itself. Ventricular fibrillation may stop blood flow and cause associated complications, including hypoperfusion of the central nervous system, myocardial ischaemia and electro-mechanical dissociation following defibrillation. Electric shock may cause myocardial damage and dislodgement of thrombi. In addition, a large number of patients undergo the implantation procedure under regional anaesthesia. Patients requiring ICD implantation can be divided into three groups according to indications: 1) chamber devices for primary and secondary prevention without other conduction diseases, 2) chamber devices for patients with conduction system disturbances, and 3) chamber devices for resynchronization. DFT test performance in patients from the first and second groups may be unnecessary: in view of the high risk of sudden cardiac death, shock energy in these patients should be more than 25 J. The DFT test can be performed in patients with structural pathology, especially with dilated and ischaemic cardiomyopathy causing giant chamber size and non-compact myocardium, to avoid high defibrillation threshold by means of changing polarity and defibrillation vector. The treatment of persistent and long-standing persistent atrial fibrillation (AF) has unsatisfactory results using both medical therapy and/or catheter ablation, where incomplete ablation lines remain a significant problem. This study evaluates the feasibility, efficacy and safety of the sequential, two-staged hybrid treatment combining thoracoscopic surgical and transvenous catheter AF ablation.Thirty patients with persistent and long-standing persistent AF underwent surgical thoracoscopic radiofrequency (RF) ablation procedure using a predefined protocol (pulmonary veins isolation, box lesion, isthmus line lesion, dissection of the ligament of Marshall, left atrial appendage exclusion with an epicardial clip and ganglionated plexi ablation) followed by diagnostic catheterization and RF ablation 3 months later. In this session, electrical mapping of the left atrium was performed and any incomplete isolation lines were completed. Mitral and cavotricuspid isthmus ablation lines were performed during this session as well.The preoperative mean duration time of AF was 33 ± 27 months with 17% patients with persistent and 83% patients with long-standing persistent AF. The mean size of the left atrium was 48 ± 5 mm. The complete surgical ablation protocol was achieved in 97% of patients, with no death, and no early stroke or pacemaker implantation in the early postoperative period. In 63% of patients, the left atrial appendage was excluded with an epicardial clip. An endocardial touch-up for achievement of bidirectional block of pulmonary veins was necessary in 10 patients (33%) and on the box, (roof and floor) lesions in 20 patients (67%). Freedom from atrial fibrillation was 77% after surgical ablation and 93% after the completed hybrid procedure.The sequential, two-staged hybrid strategy (surgical thoracoscopic followed by catheter ablation) is feasible and safe with a high post-procedural success and seems to represent the optimal treatment with low risk load and potentially long-term benefit for patients with a persistent and long-standing persistent form atrial fibrillation.

Pacemaker implantation due to sick sinus node syndrome is a routine procedure nowadays. Despite the rather small number of complications, the most challenging cases are associated with pneumothorax and infection. Air embolism is a rare complication of insertion or removal of central venous catheters, but can lead to cardiac arrhythmias, obstruction of the pulmonary outflow tract, acute cor pulmonale and asystole, depending on its volume. Furthermore, when moving to arterial circulation via patent foramen ovale, it can lead to ischaemic events. The reasons of such a paradoxical complication could be an inadequate examination of respiratory function during preoperative survey, catheters without haemostatic valve or central venous catheter procedures include large-calibre catheters, iatrogenic factors, low central venous pressure, negative intrathoracic pressure and inability for the patient to lie in a supine or Trendelenberg position. Because of the lack of specific signs and symptoms of venous air embolism, a high index of suspicion is necessary to establish the diagnosis. The primary physiological effects of air embolism are elevated pulmonary artery pressures, increased ventilation-perfusion inhomogeneity, and right ventricular failure. The degree of physiological impairment depends on the volume of gas entrained, the rate of entrainment, the type of gas entrained, and the position of the patient when the embolism occurs. This case report of repeated massive pulmonary air embolism during pacemaker implantation by Wu and Chen is very important for clinicians [1]. The reasons are that there are not so many similar cases, and that the procedure is carried out under the local anaesthesia with no need for sedation and invasive lung ventilation. Some specific causes and symptoms were observed by Ninio and Hii [2] and Turgeman et al. [3], but general principles of early diagnostic or even prevention have not yet been identified. Treatment stategies vary from putting the patient in the Trendelenburg position, 100% oxygen flow or hyperbaric oxygen treatment, in order to reduce the volume of the embolus by diffusion of oxygen to the plasma, haemodynamic support, adequate supplementation of inspired oxygen and prevention of further air entry into the circulation [4].
