Introdução: O tecido muscular esquelético é tido como órgão endócrino, pois com exercício físico intenso, ocorrem contrações musculares e, assim libera substâncias que promovem efeitos hormonais, sendo uma delas conhecida como irisina, podendo modular tecido adiposo branco em tecido adiposo marrom, que passa a aumentar termogênese. O ômega 3 vem sendo estudado como estratégia para maior liberação de irisina para promover aumento na termogênese, principalmente em pessoas obesas. Materiais e Métodos: Foi realizada uma revisão narrativa em que se buscou artigos em quatro bases bibliográficas de pesquisa, sendo elas PubMed, Scielo, Lilacs e dissertações de mestrados e teses de doutorados em repertórios de universidades federais. Foram selecionados artigos e trabalhos publicados entre os anos de 2010 e 2020, escritos nas línguas em inglês, português e espanhol. Conclusão: Foi possível concluir que administração do óleo essencial ômega 3, traz diversos benefícios para a saúde da população, principalmente em tratamento para população com obesidade. No que diz respeito à irisina, estudos com camundongos mostraram efeitos benéficos na suplementação de ômega 3, elevando a irisina sérica. No entanto, são necessários estudos controlados em humanos para melhor análise.

This article provides an overview of count data and count models, explores zero inflation, introduces likelihood ratio tests, and explains how the Vuong test can be used as a model selection criterion for assessing overdispersion. The motivation of this work was to create a Vuong test implementation from scratch using the Python programming language. This implementation supports our objective of enhancing the accessibility and applicability of the Vuong test in real-world scenarios, providing a valuable contribution to the academic community, since Python did not have an implementation of this statistical test.

TikTok is consolidating its place in the social media landscape. During the first three months of the COVID-19, it was the most downloaded app worldwide, and it gained 500,000 new users in Portugal. Our study sets out to map the practices of Portuguese teenagers (10–16) on TikTok. Using a Uses and Gratifications approach (U&G), we conducted an online survey with a non-probabilistic sample of 347 TikTok users. Our findings show relevant differences between younger (10–12) and older (13–16) teenagers. The youngest are more careful about privacy and enjoy more experimentation as content creators, while the oldest are more focused on building an audience. Entertainment and self-expression are the main motivations for using the platform. About 50% of our sample admits at least one behavior that is indicative of addiction.

The aim of the present cross-sectional exploratory pilot study was to analyze the ability of the Phase Angle (PhA) to predict physical function, muscle strength and bone indicators, upon adjusting for potential confounders [age, sex, lean mass, and body mass index (BMI)]. This study included 56 physically independent older adults (age, 68.29 ± 3.01 years; BMI, 28.09 ± 4.37 kg/m2). A multi-frequency segmental bioelectrical impedance analysis was used to measure PhA at 50 KHz. Additionally, physical function was assessed through four functional capacity tests [30-sec chair‐stand; seated medicine ball throw (SMBT); timed up & go; and 6-min walking test (6 MWT)], muscle strength through the handgrip test (dominant side) and maximal isokinetic strength of the dominant knee flexor and extensor. Moreover, bone indicators and body composition were assessed through the dual energy X-ray absorptiometry.PhA was significantly associated with SMBT (r = 0.375, effect size (ES) = moderate); 6 MWT (r = 0.396, ES = moderate); 30-sec chair‐stand (rho = 0.314, ES = moderate); knee extension (rho = 0.566, ES = large) and flexion (r = 0.459, ES = moderate); handgrip (rho = 0.432, ES = moderate); whole-body bone mineral content (BMC) (r = 0.316, ES = moderate); femoral neck BMC (r = 0.469, ES = moderate); and femoral neck bone mineral density (BMD) (rho = 0.433, ES = moderate). Abstract The purposes of this study were (a) to determine the variations in internal and external measures of training monotony (TM) and strain (TS) in professional soccer players according to periods of the season and playing positions, and (b) to analyze the relationships between internal and external measures of TM and TS. Twenty male professional players (age = 29.4 ± 4.4 years) were followed for 20 weeks through session rating of perceived exertion (s-RPE), total distance (TD), high-speed running distance (HSRD) and sprint distance (SpD). Regardless of measure, highest mean TM and TS scores were observed in mid-season and end-season. In general, wingers and strikers tended to have greater values in TM. Midfielders exhibited greater TS of TD and SpD. Correlation results for TM revealed that s-RPE was positively associated with SpD in early-season (r = 0.608) and negatively associated in mid-season (r = − 0.506). Regarding the TS, result demonstrated that s-RPE is negatively associated with HSRD in early-season (r = − 0.464) and positively associated in mid-season (r = 0.476). In general, there different meanings in correlations between internal and external measures across the season. On the one hand, our findings highlighted that TM and TS of professional soccer players is sensitive to period of the season and player’s position, but on other hand, correlation analyses proved that changes in one external/internal measure does not cause changes in another external/internal measure which support the constant monitoring of these values across the season.

Abstract Background The aim of this study was to describe and compare the in-season variations of acute: chronic workload ratio (ACWR) coupled, uncoupled, and exponentially weighted moving average (EWMA) through session rating of perceived exertion (s-RPE), total distance (TD), high-speed running distance (HSRD) and sprint distance (SPRINT) in three different periods of an elite soccer season according to player positions. Methods Twenty male elite players (age: 29.4 ± 4.4) from an Asian First League team were daily monitored for twenty consecutive weeks during the 2017–2018 in-season. Forty-seven trainings and twenty matches were monitored using global positioning system units (GPS) to collect TD, HSRD and SPRINT. Through the collection of s-RPE, TD, HSRD, and SPRINT by ACWR and EWMA were calculated for each training session. Results The results revealed that according to different periods of the season, workload measures observed in mid-season were meaningfully higher compared with early-season (g = ranging from 0.53 to 4.98) except for EWMASPRINT. In general, wingers and strikers tended to have greater scores in workload measures compared to the defenders and midfielders (g = ranging from 0.41 to 5.42). Conclusions These findings may provide detailed information for coaches and sports scientists regarding the variations of acute and chronic workload ratio and external loading in-season and between player positions in an elite soccer team.

Los youtubers se han convertido en un fenómeno mundial; debido al hecho de pasar más tiempo en casa se amplifica su estatus y relevancia, especialmente entre los niños. El creciente acceso a Internet, la forma fácil e intuitiva de utilizarlo, el control sobre lo que quieren ver, la cercanía al público y la capacidad de sorprender e innovar son algunos de los motivos que hacen a los youtubers tan atractivos. Con una metodología cualitativa, llevada a cabo en dos fases secuenciales de recogida de datos, primero con niños y después con youtubers, se quiere responder a la siguiente pregunta: ¿Qué influencia tienen los youtubers en la formación de la opinión de niños de 8 a 12 años sobre temas de actualidad? Se concluyó que los niños ven a los youtubers como modelos a seguir, y sus contenidos, una fuente de información fiable; admiten haber cambiado su forma de pensar gracias a ellos. Aunque su influencia disminuye a medida que crecen, se demuestra que tienden a adoptar los puntos de vista y las perspectivas compartidas por los youtubers. Es, además, una oportunidad para que los niños aprendan y conozcan temas importantes desde una edad temprana de forma más accesible e interesante.

Vasta literatura tem vindo a demonstrar a importância que os micro influenciadores digitais têm sobre as escolhas e intenções de compra dos consumidores Millennials, bem como, por outro lado, a crescente preocupação com a sustentabilidade e com o consumo de marcas sustentáveis. Este artigo analisa este fenómeno, através de um estudo de caso, procurando compreender a ligação entre a geração Millennial, os micro influenciadores e as marcas sustentáveis. Para tal, optou-se por uma metodologia mista, com entrevistas a consumidores e micro influenciadores, além de inquérito por questionário, onde se analisou a marca Mustique, cujo alvo é precisamente esta geração e que, além da preocupação com a sustentabilidade, utiliza micro influenciadores na sua comunicação. Os resultados demonstraram o impacto positivo dos micro influenciadores num maior conhecimento e consumo de produtos sustentáveis por parte dos consumidores Millennials, mas apontou a existência ainda de outros fatores que acabam por impactar as decisões dos consumidores no seu processo de decisão de compra.

Fibromyalgia is a rheumatic disease characterised by chronic widespread muscular pain and its treatment is carried out by pharmacological interventions. Physical exercise and a healthy lifestyle act as an important mechanism in reducing the symptoms of the disease. The aims of this study were to analyse and systematise the characteristics of combined training programs (i.e., type and duration of interventions, weekly frequency, duration and structure of training sessions and prescribed intensities) and to analyse their effects on people diagnosed with fibromyalgia. A systematic literature search was performed using the PRISMA method and then randomised controlled trial articles that met the eligibility criteria were selected. The Physiotherapy Evidence Database scale was used to assess the quality and risk of the studies. A total of 230 articles were selected, and in the end, 13 articles met the defined criteria. The results showed different exercise interventions such as: combined training, high-intensity interval training, Tai Chi, aerobic exercise, body balance and strength training. In general, the different interventions were beneficial for decreasing physical symptoms and improving physical fitness and functional capacity. In conclusion, a minimum duration of 14 weeks is recommended for better benefits. Moreover, combined training programs were the most effective for this population, in order to reduce the symptoms of the disease with a duration between 60 and 90 min, three times a week with a light to moderate intensity.

Durante os primeiros meses de confinamento devido à pandemia Covid-19, o TikTok foi a aplicação mais descarregada a nível mundial, tendo conquistado, só em Portugal, meio milhão de novos utilizadores, o que requer um olhar mais aprofundado por parte das Ciências de Comunicação. Usando como base a teoria dos Usos e Gratificações (U&G), este estudo pretende mapear as práticas de adolescentes portugueses (13-16) nesta plataforma, explorando as diferenças entre os utilizadores e os criadores de conteúdos. Para tal, foi realizada um inquérito online a uma amostra não probabilística de 263 utilizadores do TikTok. Os resultados mostram que 44,5% produzem conteúdos e que estes têm uma atuação mais estratégica, focada na autopromoção, na expansão e dinamização da sua comunidade online.

The study aim was 2-fold (i) to describe and compare the in-season variations of acute: chronic workload ratio (ACWR) coupled, ACWR uncoupled, and exponentially weighted moving average (EWMA) through session-rated perceived exertion (s-RPE), total distance (TD), high-speed running distance (HSRD), and sprint distance across different periods of a professional soccer season (early, mid, and end-season) between starters and non-starters; (ii) to analyze the relationship the aforementioned measures across different periods of the season for starters and non-starters. ACWR had general changes throughout the season. At the beginning and end of the mid-season, the highest ACWR was observed in three parameters: s-RPE, TD, and HSRD. Objetivo: correlacionar a gordura corporal de cada indivíduo com o risco de desenvolvimento de doenças cardiovasculares, a partir de medição, análise e avaliação de dados coletados, para, assim, intervir com ações preventivas. Metodologia: estudo de coorte realizado por meio de uma pesquisa de campo que foi feita com cinco indivíduos frequentadores da Academia da Saúde da cidade de Jundiaí. Foi feita coleta de dados, os quais foram analisados por índices que permitiram fazer a avaliação. Foram administrados palestras e dinâmicas de grupo educativas como forma de intervenções nutricionais. Ao final da pesquisa foi realizada outra coleta de dados para comparação com a primeira e para avaliação dos resultados das intervenções. Resultados: antes das intervenções nutricionais, 40% dos participantes foram classificados com obesidade, 20% com sobrepeso e apenas 40% com eutrofia e todos apresentaram risco muito alto para doenças cardíacas. Após as intervenções nutricionais 80% reduziram tanto a circunferência da cintura quanto a circunferência do quadril, alterando assim as classificações nos indicadores CC, RCEst e Índice C. Conclusão: com os resultados positivos apresentados neste estudo, se mostra necessária a realização de ações de educação nutricional locais e regionais, para o controle do peso e redução da obesidade abdominal, objetivando diminuição de riscos cardíacos.

As the world becomes increasingly more turbulent, complex and competitive, there has been an increased interest in creativity as the major force to prepare students for these demands. At the same time, digital native students today are used to working in an environment rich with instantly accessible information and knowledge, yet paradoxically students are less satisfied with their courses in the online environment. Educators are thus challenged to use innovative methods to nurture creativity online as they would do in the face-to-face classroom. In 2010, six European universities created an international project, named Cross Border Brand Communication (CBBC) that has taken place every year since but in 2020 took place online due to the Covid-19 pandemic. This article describes and analyzes the best practices resulting from this case and addresses the research questions as to whether the creative learning outcomes and teaching practices online are the same as face-to-face and to what extent are students satisfied with this learning environment. Reflection on the project and case indicates that although learning outcomes online are “virtually” the same, the student experience is inferior to such face-to-face projects.

O objetivo do estudo foi verificar a influência do exercício resistido (ER) na pressão intraocular (PIO) em diferentes fases do ciclo menstrual. Foram estudadas nove mulheres (27,4+7,5 anos) nas fases ovulatória (14º ao 16º dia do ciclo menstrual) e lútea (25º ao 28º dia do ciclo menstrual), submetidas ao exercício resistido. A PIO foi mensurada com tonômetro de Perkins, antes (M1), durante (M2), imediatamente após (M3) e cinco minutos após o término da sessão de ER (M4). Como procedimento estatístico foi aplicado o teste de Kolmogorov–Smirnov, ANOVA, com verificação de Bonferroni. Background: This study’s aim was twofold: (i) to compare starters and non-starters on a professional soccer team in terms of variations in training intensity indexes across a season, calculated through total distance, sprint distance, accelerations (Acc), and decelerations (Dec) and (ii) to analyse the relationship between the intensity indexes for each playing status. Methods: Nineteen players (age, 29.4 ± 4.4 years; height, 1.8 ± 0.1 m; body mass, 74.8 ± 2.3 kg) were divided into starters and non-starters and followed for 43 weeks using global positioning systems. Results: Training intensity measures (acute:chronic workload ratio [ACWR], coupled and uncoupled) were higher during the latter stage of the season. Total distance peaked during the mid-season, whereas the highest value for exponentially weighted moving average (EWMA) was recorded later in the season. Interestingly, the EMWA of total distance showed little variation during the season for players of both playing statuses. The EWMA of total distance showed a significant higher value for starters than non-starters (p = 0.036; g = 1.27 [0.31, 2.32]). The interruption in games between week 34 and week 35 due to COVID-19 moved some measures into the injury risk zone — namely, the ACWR coupled of sprint distance and Dec; the ACWR uncoupled of total distance, sprint distance, Acc, Dec; and the EWMA of sprint distance, Acc and Dec. Conclusions: The highest training intensity measures were reported late in the season and were similar between starters and non-starters. Across the season, only one difference between starters and non-starters occurred, revealing that training intensity was properly managed throughout the season regardless of the status of the players.

Although data currently exists pertaining to the intensity in the women’s football match, the knowledge about training is still scarce. Therefore, the aim of this study was to quantify external (locomotor activity) and internal (psychophysiological) intensities, as well as the wellness profile of the typical microcycle from professional female soccer players during the 2019/20 in-season. Ten players (24.6 ± 2.3 years) from an elite Portuguese women soccer team participated in this study. All variables were collected in 87 training session and 15 matches for analysis from the 2019–2020 in-season. Global positioning variables such total distance, high-speed running, acceleration, deceleration and player load were recorded as intensity while Rated Perceived Exertion (RPE) and session-RPE were recorded as internal measures. The Hooper Index (HI) was collected as a wellness parameter. The results showed that internal and external intensity measures were greater in matches compared to trainings during the week (match day minus [MD-], MD-5, MD-4, MD-2), p < 0.05 with very large effect size (ES). In the same line, higher internal and external intensity values were found in the beginning of the week while the lowest values were found in MD-2 (p < 0.05, with very large ES). Regarding wellness, there was no significant differences in the HI parameters between the training days and match days (p > 0.05). This study confirmed the highest intensity values during MD and the lowest on the training session before the MD (MD-2). Moreover, higher training intensities were found in the beginning of the training week sessions which were then reduced when the MD came close. Wellness parameters showed no variation when compared to intensity measures. This study confirmed the hypothesis regarding internal and external intensity but not regarding wellness.

The purpose of this study was two-fold: (a) to describe and analyse the relationship of the in-season variations of external and internal intensity metrics as well as well-being measures across different periods of a semi-professional soccer season (early-, mid- and end-season); and (b) to describe training monotony (TM) and training strain (TS) for 20 weeks in a semi-professional soccer season. Eighteen semi-professional players (age: 29 ± 4.1) from the Asian First League team participated in this study. The players were monitored for 20 consecutive weeks during in-season for external training intensity, internal training intensity and well-being parameters. The in-season was organized into three periods: early-season (weeks 1–7); mid-season (weeks 8–13); and end-season (weeks 14–20). Total distance (TD), high-speed running distance (HSRD), sprint distance, rate of perceived exertion (RPE), session-RPE (s-RPE), TM, TS, heart rate average and maximum, as well as sleep quality, stress and muscle soreness were collected. Results revealed that TD, HSRD and sprint distance (total values) were meaningfully greater during end-season than in the early-season. RPE showed a significantly highest value during the end-season (4.27 AU) than in early- (3.68 AU) and mid-season (3.65 AU), p < 0.01. TS showed significant differences between early-season with mid-season (p = 0.011) and end-season (p < 0.01), and the highest value occurred in week 17 during end-season (6656.51 AU), while the lowest value occurred in week 4 during early-season (797.17 AU). The average TD periods showed a moderate to large correlation with RPE, sleep and s-RPE at early-, mid- and end-season. Increasing the training intensity without considering the well-being of the players affects the performance of the team. Examining processes of the relationship between training intensity and other psychological indicators among players will probably be effective in training planning. Sports coaches and fitness professionals should be wary of changes in TM and TS that affect players performance. Therefore, to better control the training, more consideration should be given by the coaches.

Abstract Background Bipolar disorder (BD) patients exhibit cognitive impairments during euthymic states. Studies suggest that manic episodes may be correlated to cognitive impairments. The present study investigated the relationship between predominant polarity and the cognitive deficits frequently detected in bipolar patients. We hypothesize that mania predominant polarity (MPP) patients should exhibit greater cognitive impairments in comparison to depressive (DPP) and indefinite predominant polarity (IPP) patients and healthy control (HC) individuals. Methods The study evaluated 55 euthymic BD patients, type I and II, and 31 HCs. Patients were divided into 3 groups: MPP (n = 17), DPP (n = 22), and IPP (n = 16), and compared regarding demographic and clinical variables, and performance on a 7-test neuropsychological battery. Results MPP patients demonstrated greater cognitive impairments in alternating attention, verbal fluency, and delayed memory in comparison to DPP, IPP, and HC. Compared to HC, IPP patients exhibit cognitive deficits in verbal fluency and alternating attention and DPP patients solely in verbal fluency. Furthermore, DPP patients did not exhibit, in none of the seven neuropsychological tests, significant poorer performances than MPP or IPP patients, although having significant more episodes than MPP patients. Conclusion MPP patients exhibit increased cognitive impairments in comparison to DPP, IPP, and HC subjects. Manic episodes may play an important role in the development of cognitive deficits and thus, in potential neuroprogression. Predominant polarity may be an important specifier for predicting future cognitive impairments.

Background: laparoscopic rectal surgery has not yet achieved a high penetration rate because of its steep learning curve and its relatively high conversion rate. Robotic rectal resection represents the main indication of the use of the robotic platform in colorectal surgery. The aim of this study was to present an early experience with robotic surgery to treat mid and low rectal cancer focusing on the technique and early postoperative outcomes. Methods: from December 2012 to October 2013, a total of 16 patients with colorectal diseases were operated on using a four-arm single docking full robotic procedure (daVinci Si Surgical System). The treatment of six consecutive patients who underwent robotic rectal cancer surgery for mid or low rectal adenocarcinoma was prospectively analyzed regarding technique standardization, pathological findings and postoperative outcomes. Results: there were no conversions and one intraoperative complication. The mean operative time was 245 min (180–360 min). The mean console time was 170 min (110–240 min). All patients underwent a standardized totally robotic rectal dissection. There were no mortality or urinary dysfunction and one complication (postoperative ileo-16%). The median length of hospital stay was 6 (4–11 days). The median number of lymph nodes harvested was 22 (7–38), and distal and circumferential resection margins were negative in all specimen. R0 resection was achieved in all cases and complete total mesorectal excision in five specimen and nearly complete in one. Conclusion: standardized robotic rectal surgery is a promising alternative to treat patients with mid or low rectal cancer and is expected to overcome the low penetration rate of laparoscopic surgery in this field. This technique was successfully performed in six patients with excellent immediate postoperative and pathological results. Additional studies in a large series of patients are necessary to confirm those advantages. Resumo: Introdução: a utilização da cirurgia videolaparoscópica para o tratamento do câncer do reto ainda não apresentou uma alta penetração devido a longa curva de aprendizado e a uma taxa de conversão relativamente alta. A ressecção retal robótica é a principal indicação para o uso da plataforma robótica na cirurgia colorretal. O objetivo desse estudo é apresentar as técnicas e os resultados pós-operatórios imediatos com o uso da cirurgia robótica para o tratamento do câncer do reto distal. Pacientes e métodos: no período de dezembro de 2012 a outubro de 2013 foram operados 16 pacientes com patologias colorretais utilizando o robô daVinci SI Surgical System. O tratamento de 6 consecutivos pacientes portadores de câncer do reto do terço médio e do terço inferior foram prospectivamente avaliados quanto a sistematização técnica, achados patológicos e evolução pós-operatória. Resultados: não houve conversão e ocorreu uma complicação intraoperatória. A duração média das operações foi de 245 minutos (180-360 minutos) e o tempo médio do uso do console foi de 170 minutos (110-240 minutos). Ocorreu uma complicação pós-operatória (Íleo) e não houveram nenhuma disfunção urinária ou mortalidade. A duração média da internação hospitalar foi de 6 dias (4-11 dias). O número médio de linfonodos examinados foi de 22 (7-38) e todas as peças tinham margens distal e circunferencial negativas. Ressecção RO foi observada em todos os casos e o grau de excisão total do mesorreto foi completo em 5 peças e quase completo em uma. Conclusão: cirurgia robótica sistematizada esta tendo uma crescente aceitação e é uma ótima alternativa para o tratamento dos pacientes com câncer do reto distal. Esta tecnologia foi utilizada em 6 pacientes com excelentes resultados não só na recuperação pós-operatória imediata como também nos achados da avaliação patológica. Grandes series randomizadas são importantes para confirmar as possíveis vantagens dessa nova tecnologia. Colonic intussusception is a rare cause of intestinal obstruction in adults and is caused by a malignant lesion in about 70% of cases. Early diagnosis and treatment are essential. We present a 64-year-old male patient with right colonic intussusception caused by a mixed adenoneuroendocrine carcinoma (MANEC), presenting as a giant pedunculated polyp (54 mm of largest diameter). The patient underwent right colectomy with primary anastomosis and adjuvant chemotherapy. The diagnosis of intussusception of the colon in adults is difficult because of its rarity and nonspecific clinical presentation. In this case, the cause was a rare histological type malignant tumor (MANEC).

The aim of this study was to assess the level of agreement between an institutional protocol and the Manchester protocol for the risk assessment of patients attended in an emergency room of a public hospital in Belo Horizonte - MG - Brazil. This is a descriptive and comparative study, in which 382 patients' reports were evaluated and the risk was classified, using the institutional protocol and the Manchester protocol. Rates were calculated through weighted and unweighted kappa, in order to determine the level of agreement between the protocols. The results showed that the correlation between the protocols is average when considering that classification errors occurred between neighboring colors (kappa=0.48), and good when considering that classification errors occurred between extreme colors (kappa=0.61). The Manchester protocol increased the patients' level of priority of patients and has been considered more inclusive.Este estudio tuvo por objetivo verificar el grado de concordancia entre un protocolo institucional y el protocolo de Manchester para la clasificación de riesgo de pacientes atendidos en primeros auxilios de un hospital público de Belo Horizonte - MG - Brasil. Se trata de estudio descriptivo comparativo en el cual 382 fichas fueron evaluadas y, realizada la clasificación de riesgo utilizando los protocolos mencionados encima, a partir del registro realizado por los enfermeros. Índices kappa ponderado y no ponderado fueron calculados para determinar el grado de concordancia entre los protocolos. Los resultados mostraron que la concordancia entre los protocolos es media, cuando considerados los errores de clasificación ocurridos entre colores vecinos (kappa=0,48) y buena, cuando considerados los errores de clasificación ocurridos entre colores extremos (kappa=0,61). Para o enfrentamento do problema do gerenciamento dos resíduos de construção civil foi criada a Resolução Nº 307/2003 do Conselho Nacional do Meio Ambiente (CONAMA), que impõe aos geradores a obrigatoriedade da segregação dos seus resíduos, sua reutilização e sua reciclagem e correta destinação final e em conseqüência disto foi criada a Legislação Municipal (Lei Nº 17.072/ 2005, de 03 de janeiro de 2005) da cidade do Recife, no qual se estabelecem as diretrizes e critérios para o programa de gerenciamento de resíduos da construção civil deste município. Este trabalho mostra os resultados da aplicação de uma metodologia em canteiros de obra de edifícios multipiso na cidade do Recife, que consistiu em uma análise inicial dos canteiros, na elaboração de um projeto adequado a realidade da empresa e do canteiro de obras, na realização de treinamentos com os funcionários, na implantação dos dispositivos e em auditorias mensais. Dentre os resultados encontrados estão a destinação compromissada dos resíduos, diminuição na quantidade de caçambas estacionárias com resíduos Classe A (entulho) retiradas dos canteiros, o encaminhamento dos resíduos Classe B para reciclagem, e a conscientização do setor da construção sobre a responsabilidade ambiental.

Introduçao: A taquicardia por reentrada eletrônica pode ser um efeito adverso em pacientes portadores de marcapassos bicamerais (DDD, DDDR e VDD) na presença de conduçao ventrículo-atrial. Pode ocorrer especialmente em pacientes cujos marcapassos apresentam falhas de comando e sensibilidade atrial ou falhas na programaçao. Material e Método: Foram avaliados 118 portadores de marcapasso bicameral, com implante por doença do nó sinusal (DNS) e bloqueio atrioventricular total (BAVT), por meio de monitoramento eletrocardiográfico computadorizado e programador/interrogador de marcapasso. Resultados: Taquicardias por reentrada eletrônica foram induzidas em 30 pacientes por meio de um protocolo que produziu perda de comando atrial, aumento da sensibilidade atrial, elevaçao da freqüência de estimulaçao e reduçao do PVARP (post-ventricular atrial refractory period). Discussao: O aumento do número de implantes de marcapassos e ressincronizadores e as novas programaçoes dos geradores tornaram a taquicardia por reentrada eletrônica uma forma de taquiarritmia cada vez mais freqüente. Conclusao: O teste de induçao de TRE mostrou-se eficaz e seguro. Recomenda-se a sua integraçao ao conjunto de testes de avaliaçao de portadores de marcapasso bicameral, principalmente aqueles em que a conduçao ventrículo-atrial é evidente ou que apresentam DNS.

O objetivo do presente trabalho foi analisar a influência da adição de resíduo beneficiado de pasta de gesso como agregado no calor de hidratação da argamassa de gesso para uso em revestimentos internos. Na metodologia utilizada foi fixada a relação água/gesso de 0,66, valor obtido por meio de ensaio de consistência normal, e executados ensaios comparativos entre o gesso natural e o gesso aditivado com 5% e 10 % de resíduo. Para as adições de 5% e 10% de resíduo, os resultados mostraram a diminuição dos tempos de pega (inicial e final) diretamente correlacionado ao incremento da adição, claramente observados nas curvas de calor de hidratação, porém sem redução proporcional no tempo útil das argamassas, indicando uma alternativa para a diminuição do tempo improdutivo na mistura da pasta de gesso.

CONTEXT: Despite the recognition of the role that sociocultural factors play in the process of acquiring insight, recent research on this issue is scarce. OBJECTIVES: 1) to translate and adapt the Schedule for Assessment of Insight (SAI) to Portuguese; 2) to use a modified version of it to evaluate family members' insight into schizophrenia; 3) to compare patients' insight with family members' insight. TYPE OF STUDY: Cross-sectional study. SETTING: Schizophrenia Project Outpatient Clinic (Projesq), Institute of Psychiatry, Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade de São Paulo. METHODS: 40 patients with schizophrenia (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual for Mental Disorders - Fourth Edition - DSM-IV) undergoing outpatient treatment and members of their respective families were interviewed using the SAI and a modified version of this instrument, respectively. RESULTS: Family members performed better than patients in the total and partial SAI scores [total: 13.0 to 8.75 (p < 0.001); adherence: 3.9 to 3.4 (p < 0.005); recognition of illness: 5.5 to 3.5 (p < 0.001); relabeling of psychotic phenomena: 3.6 to 1.9 (p < 0.001)]. However, when the scores were correlated for each patient-family member pair, the only partial score that had a negative correlation was the relabeling of psychotic phenomena (r = -0.14), while the others had positive correlations (total r = 0.401; adherence r = 0.410; recognition of illness r = 0.422). DISCUSSION: There was a lack of correlation between the scores of family members and patients regarding the ability to relabel psychotic phenomena as abnormal. This might be understood as a smaller influence of sociocultural factors in this dimension than in other dimensions. The fact that family members were not assessed for the presence of psychopathology is a limitation of this study. CONCLUSIONS: Different dimensions of insight are not equally influenced by disease and sociocultural factors. The recognition of illness is more strongly influenced by sociocultural factors than the ability to relabel psychotic phenomena as abnormal.

Diverse computational approaches have been widely used to assist in designing antimicrobial peptides with enhanced activities. This tactic has also been used to address the need for new treatment alternatives to combat resistant bacterial infections. Herein, we have designed eight variants from a natural peptide, pro‐adrenomedullin N‐terminal 20 peptide (PAMP), using an in silico pattern insertion approach, the Joker algorithm. All the variants show an α‐helical conformation, but with differences in the helix percentages according to circular dichroism (CD) results. We found that the C‐terminal portion of PAMP may be relevant for its antimicrobial activities, as revealed by the molecular dynamics, CD, and antibacterial results. The analogs showed variable antibacterial potential, but most were not cytotoxic. Nevertheless, PAMP2 exhibited the most potent activities against human and animal‐isolated bacteria, showing cytotoxicity only at a substantially higher concentration than its minimal inhibitory concentration (MIC). Our results suggest that the enhanced activity in the profile of PAMP2 may be related to their particular physicochemical properties, along with the adoption of an amphipathic α‐helical arrangement with the conserved C‐terminus portion. Finally, the peptides designed in this study can constitute scaffolds for the design of improved sequences. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
