The aim of this study is to identify customer delight by developing a research model and measurement scale in the hospitality industry that includes cognitive and emotional factors. The main analysis to support the research uses a confirmatory factor analysis, while collected data represent 186 tourism experiences in hotels and restaurants. The model describes a way to appraise memorable experiences by customers and the positive significance of emotions based on their needs. The authors argue that managing designed experiences and considering a customer's service ideal from the factors in the proposed model could be the basis for achieving customer delight in the hospitality industry.

The purpose of this paper is to analyse if and to what extent the relation between implementing new technologies and organizational practices has a direct moderating effect on operational performance. Regression analysis technique was performed using data corresponding to the Spanish sub-sample of the European Manufacturing Survey (EMS) 2015 edition containing the responses of 101 manufacturing firms. The results present a positive relation between implementing organizational practices and operational performance. Implementing technologies individually has a negative effect on firm performance, but when this is mediated with organizational practices the effect becomes positive. The present study also brings implications in the direction of separate and joint effect of the impact of digitalisation and organisational practices on operational performance. The value of this research lies in its contributing novel, original data about the importance of applying flexibility enhancing technologies and organizational concepts.

We describe the first reported intergeneric, which naturally occurs between two subspecies belonging to different genera, Dactylorhiza fuchsii subsp. sooana (genus Dactylorhiza) and Pseudorchis albida subsp. tricuspis (genus Pseudorchis), as × Pseudorhiza nieschalkii (Senghas) P.F.Hunt nothosubsp. siculorum H.Kertész & N.Anghelescu, 2020. The hybrid was found and digitally photographed for the first time by Hajnalka Kertész in June, 2020, within Terra Siculorum, in one of the Natura 2000 protected areas, known as Harghita Mădăraș, ROSCI00090. Following detailed morphometric analysis using 67 characters and molecular karyological analyses, we identified this unique specimen as an intergeneric hybrid, new to science. The hybrid, an F1 generation plant, most likely representing a single intergeneric pollination event, is phenotypically intermediate between its parental species in most of the characters scored, but it significantly closely resembles Pseudorchis albida subsp. tricuspis parent. Since several individuals of the parental species occurred in near proximity, within 1–10 meters distance, we suggest that the production of this hybrid required a minimum travel distance of ca 1–10 meters, by the pollinators and frequent exchange of pollen between the parental species was very likely. The parental species and the hybrid, which display a considerable synchronicity in their flowering time, overlap in the pollinator community, sharing various species of Hymenopterans and Dipterans, very abundant in the heathland. This Terra Siculorum hybrid is thus best described as a rarely occurring intergeneric hybrid that shows strong Pseudorchis albida subsp. tricuspis parental dominance in inheritance patterns.

Purpose Over recent years, firms have been implementing novel human resource practices. The purpose of this paper is to analyse four specific training practices to determine if and up to what extent the adoption of such practices affects innovation and financial performance. Design/methodology/approach A Spanish sub-sample of the European Manufacturing Survey is used to contain the responses of 162 manufacturing firms. Findings The positive relation between T&D practices and innovative performance was partially accepted, as new-to-the-firm products and new services had a significant relation with these practices. Conversely, the hypothesis stating that there is a positive relation between a new-to-the-market product and the aforementioned T&D practices was rejected. Furthermore, the positive relation between these and financial performance was partially accepted. Research limitations/implications This research presents the following limitation: the small number of responses restricts the general reliability of the findings. The inclusion of other countries’ data using the same questionnaire would further enrich the analysis. Practical implications First, general training and development is not enough; thus, the present study evidences the positive results of specific training practices such as training and development for creativity and innovation (TD4CI) on firm performances. Second, it also reveals a relation between training practices and innovation by differentiating among the three dimensions of innovation (new product to the firm, new product to the market and new services). Moreover, the present research highlights the benefits of implementing these types of practices, not only for innovation performance but also for financial performance. This paper also suggests that not all the training practices have the same impact on firm performance. Consequently, the company should be clear about their main aim to obtain the highest performance. The third contribution is based on the Spanish context wherein training is not considered as an important organisational function. Thus, this study provides positive results showing that TD4CI might enhance firm performance. Last, the degree of detail of the different training practices analysed, the recent nature of the data related to their implementation and the link between implementation and organisation performance are also part of the contribution of the present analyses. Originality/value This research offers recent and relevant data about implementing novel T&D practices and their relation with firm performance.

Informatik soll in den kommenden Jahren starker in die fruhe Bildung integriert werden und somit den Weg in Grundschulen oder gar in Kindergarten finden. Obwohl Deutschland noch keine verbindlichen Richtlinien fur den Umgang mit diesen neuen Themen entwickelt hat, erwagt das Bundesland Bayern bereits den Ausbau der Didaktik der Informatik zur Lehrerausbildung im Bereich der Grundschule. Das Erforschen von Unterrichtsmethoden und -inhalten, die sich fur diesen Bereich eignen, wird somit immer notwendiger. Um die Eigenschaften praktikabler und effektiver Informatikkurse fur die Primarstufe zu untersuchen, nutzen wir den Ansatz der Design-Based Research, um einen dreitagigen Programmierkurs fur Dritt- und Viertklassler zu entwickeln. Dieser Beitrag beschaftigt sich vorrangig mit der theoretischen Grundlage fur die Kursentwicklung, die aus dem Forschungsansatz entwickelt wurde. Ausserdem wird die konkrete didaktische Umsetzung der theoretischen Vorarbeiten in Form des Kurskonzepts ausfuhrlich beschrieben.

The purpose of the article is to analyze through a service-experience framework the consequences and contingency factors of Service Delivery (SD) in Remarkable Tourism Experiences (RTE) and explore to what extent these factors interact to evoke delight behaviors in customers. The proposal was validated with empirical data from 284 tourists collected through survey method on remarkable experiences in hotels and restaurants. Both an exploratory and a confirmatory analysis were developed using structural equation modeling (SEM). The result highlights to what extent SD components identified (service staff, service availability, and customer service interaction) affect RTE and aid to evoke CD in tourists with high-quality memories. The service-experience model goes beyond the frontline employees with a service-oriented perspective to better understand the emerging factors that provide happiness in customers. The organizational staff is the most important component influencing a customer’s happiness and love feelings. The empirical findings support a model and measurement scale that allows analysis of the impact of SD component statements about customer delight (CD). The study shows the antecedents and interactions among SD emergent factors in RTE, specifically regarding CD behavior. Companies aiming to increase their firm performance implement specific practices known as High Performance Work Systems (HPWS). Uncertainty remains, however, about the structures included in them. The main purpose of this paper is to analysis the difference between implementing specific HPWP separately or as a HPWS, and their effect on performance aspects, using the Spanish subsample of the European Manufacturing Survey. PurposeExtending existing research in a football context, this study explores how image and service quality influence spectator tribe satisfaction and loyalty and variations in behaviors depending on age, gender and emotional involvement.Design/methodology/approachSpectators aged 18 years and older who attended Barcelona Football Club home La Liga matches were sampled. Partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) was used to analyze the model, and hybrid multigroup PLS-SEM was used to explore observed heterogeneity.FindingsImage and service quality both influence spectator satisfaction and loyalty. Satisfaction and loyalty are associated differently with three tribes: a nonpassionate tribe characterized by low emotional involvement and younger and older passionate tribes composed of emotionally involved spectators aged 30 years old, respectively.Research limitations/implicationsThis study’s results contribute to strengthening the suitability of PLS-SEM and multigroup in sport management, in particular for analyzing the behavior of specific groups of football spectators.Originality/valueThe findings of this study underline image and service quality as crucial to football spectator satisfaction and loyalty, with emotional involvement and age defining different consumer tribes as potential targets for marketing purposes.

Objective To identify risk factors strongly associated with failed mid-cavity vacuum-assisted delivery (VAD) and construct a risk model that can be used to guide obstetricians in choosing between the standard delivery room or the operating theatre. Design Observational analytical predictive prospective monocentric study. Setting University Hospital of Besancon, France, 2010-2018. Population All successful (n=903) and failed (n=194) attempts at mid-cavity VAD among term singleton deliveries. Methods Bivariate and multivariate analyses with logistic regression were used to determine the effects of 15 potential factors on the risk of VAD failure. Main outcome measures Mode of delivery following an attempt at mid-cavity VAD. Results The score comprised seven variables significantly associated with failed mid-cavity VAD: head-perineum distance ≥51 mm (p 30 minutes (p=0.0013), duration from five centimetres to complete cervical dilation ≥3 hours (p=0.0091), term ≥42 weeks of gestation (p=0.032), and occiput-posterior or occiput-transverse fetal head position (p=0.041). The model was reliable (Hosmer-Lemeshow test =8.5; p=0.39) and accurate (concordance index =0.74). The threshold for a transfer to the operating theatre was set at 16.3 %. This paper analyzes group of customers as part of a study to measure delight in restoration experiences to find differences among satisfied customers, very satisfied customers, and delighted customers. The study has an exploratory character using the two-step cluster analysis, mean differences, and other descriptive statistical analysis. The study finds three groups of customers with different satisfaction states influenced mainly by affective variables.

In our work, we sought to answer whether we find differences among the various zones of an oxbow lake with different land uses based on physico-chemical variables and dominant algal plankton species. The two ends of the oxbow lake are bordered by settlements, and near them there are open water areas where fishing is the major utilization form. Between the two open water areas we find a protected area with a large aquatic plant coverage and two transition zones towards the open water areas. The oxbow lake receives periodic water replenishment only at one end from one of the open water areas. During summer—due to the lack of rain—the water of the oxbow lake is used for irrigation in the surrounding arable land, so the water level fluctuation can be significant in the riverbed. Our study was performed within a vegetation period of spring, early summer, mid-summer, and fall. In connection with the ecological classification of a smaller water body, studies on the physical and chemical properties of the water and the composition of the algal plankton are usually carried out in few places and relatively infrequently. The characteristics of a water body are also influenced by seasonal changes, which can be the changes in the extent of vegetation coverage, the way land is used and the possibility of water replenishment, to which the algal community usually responds with changes. Based on our study, it can be said that even in a relatively small water body, we found a large differences based on the chemical and physical properties of the water and the characteristic algal species. Open water zones, areas with large macrovegetation coverage, and the transition zones were separated from each other.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to fill a gap in the management systems (MSs) field by addressing whether the implementation of an integrated management system (IMS) and the integration level of its elements bring benefits and/or challenges to companies and whether these are related to corporate financial performance (CFP). Design/methodology/approach Drawing on a Spanish sample of 76 organizations with at least an environmental and a quality MS, the authors perform a partial least squares (PLS) analysis. Findings The results showed evidence of a positive relationship of the integration benefits with respect to the integration level of MS documentation and the integration level of MS procedures that overweights the negative significant effect of difficulties of integration in relation to the integration level of MS documentation and the integration level of MS procedures. The authors also found new evidence on this topic, related to a positive significant relationship between the integration level of MS procedures and CFP that overweights the negative significant effect of integration level of MS documentation on CFP. Research limitations/implications This study used cross-sectional data from interviewees who are Catalan managers. Furthermore, the mail survey was answered in 2010 at the beginning of the economic crisis from which results should be taken with caution given that the situation might have changed due to the continuation of the Spanish economic crisis. Practical implications The findings could allow companies’ managers to understand the extent to which the integration of quality management practices and environmental management practices influences some of the most relevant firms’ financial performance dimensions. Originality/value As far as the authors know, there are not empirical studies that address the relationship of IMS with a measure of performance such as CFP.

It is generally accepted that children have their own understanding of how the world works. Teachers need to take their ideas and knowledge into account in the learning process. While there exists a lot of research on children's perceptions of science concepts, little is known about their perceptions of programming. Since the topic is now becoming more and more relevant in the primary school context, our study aims to provide insights into children's ideas and knowledge about programming. For this purpose, we conducted and filmed seven group discussions with a total of 61 third- and fourth-grade students (age 8-11). The videos were transcribed and analyzed using qualitative content analysis. The findings show that the students associate actions as well as programmable devices with the term programming. Furthermore, we have found out that boys and girls have very similar ideas about it.

Ginger, the rhizome of Zingiber officinale Roscoe is of great importance in the traditional medicine for the treatment of various diseases. More than 400 constituents have been reported in the plant, the most important ones being the gingerol and shogaol derivatives. Positive effects of ginger extracts and isolated [6]-gingerol have been proved in animal models of anxiety, Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease and epilepsy. Taken in consideration these promising positive effects of ginger and its constituents in the central nervous system, the isolation of gingerol and shogaol derivatives ([6]-gingerol (1), [8]-gingerol (2), [10]-gingerol (3), [6]-shogaol (4), [10]-shogaol (5), 1-dehydro-[6]-gingerdione (6), 1-dehydro-[10]-gingerdione (7)) and investigation of their transcellular passive diffusion across the blood-brain barrier (BBB) were carried out. For this purpose, a Parallel Artificial Membrane Permeability Assay for the Blood-Brain Barrier (PAMPA-BBB) was chosen that had previously been validated for natural compounds. Based on our results, [6]-gingerol, [8]-gingerol and [6]-shogaol were found to be able to penetrate the BBB via passive diffusion, suggesting them to contribute to the positive effects of ginger extracts in the central nervous system.

Purpose Using a theoretical and empirical focus on the power stakeholders exert, the purpose of this paper is to provide a better understanding of the factors that influence the subsidiaries of multinationals’ participation in corporate social responsibility (CSR) under the pressures (expectations and demands) their complex system of internal and external stakeholders’ places upon them. Design/methodology/approach Using an in-depth case study, the relationship a local subsidiary in the food and beverage industry has with its stakeholders as regards CSR is analyzed. Findings The findings illustrate three main aspects: how the local company is affected by and how it affects its stakeholders (an example of the multidirectionality of power and influence); the direct and indirect practices that are adopted to address challenges; and the importance of the role the local subsidiary plays as an implementer and diffuser of its parent organization’s responsible practices across the industry value chain. Originality/value To the best of authors’ knowledge, the focus is on analyzing the power stakeholders have in the context of multinational companies that has not been applied before, and the outcome of using this approach is that the authors have uncovered gaps in the literature for future research.

Celtis occidentalis L. (common Hackberry, Cannabaceae) has been applied in the traditional medicine for a long time as a remedy for sore throat, aid during menstruation and for treating jaundice. Nevertheless, the phytochemical exploration of the plant is still incomplete, literature data is limited to flavonoid derivatives isolated from the leaves. The present study reports screening approaches for bioactive compounds in C. occidentalis by fast and simple UHPLC-coupled assays. The UHPLC-DPPH method revealed six constituents in the methanolic extract of the twigs that had not been reported in C. occidentalis before. The antioxidant compounds were isolated by the means of flash chromatography and semi-preparative HPLC and identified by Orbitrap® MS and NMR spectroscopy as N-trans-p-coumaroyloctopamine (1), N-trans-feruloyloctopamine (2), N-trans-caffeoyltyramine (3), 2-trans-3-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-N-[2-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-2-oxoethyl] prop-2-enamide (4), N-trans-p-coumaroyltryramine (5) and N-trans-feruloyltyramine (6). Despite the high antioxidant activity measured in the present study and literature data suggesting potential positive effects of the compounds in the central nervous system, the PAMPA-BBB assay performed with the Celtis extract revealed that none of the aforementioned compounds are able to penetrate across the blood-brain barrier via transcellular passive diffusion.
