Yet there has been little sustained normative analysis that has diagnosed the new forms of domination introduced by surveillance capitalism or considered the remedies needed to remove them. We draw on the latest republican literature to argue that surveillance capitalism introduces new forms of domination that compel ordinary citizens to subject themselves to surveillance and allow corporations uncontrolled power to determine the terms of surveillance, while also subjecting corporations to new incentives of extraction. Traditional republican remedies for domination were not designed to address these new challenges. We therefore outline a vision of an Information Republic that can do so.

This paper demonstrates how qualitative analysis can be a novel means of investigating theories of error and causation in natural gas pipeline incidents. Qualitative analysis offers unique opportunities to understand process, interactions, and the role of context in identifying active error and latent conditions in incident causation. Through the coding of text from 24 onshore natural gas pipeline incident reports on leaks and explosions in the United States and Canada, our findings reveal a proportion of active and latent errors consistent with other hazardous infrastructure contexts (roughly 3:1 latent-active ratio across 817 coded errors). These findings underscore the robustness of extant error theory and support the argument for documenting multiple, connected causes of disaster in aggregate. Conclusions highlight the utility of in-depth case analyses and critique present pipeline incident database aggregation. Our interpretation provides a means to convey complex causation in aggregate form thus enabling more nuanced future qualitative and qualitative analyses.

The purpose of this research is to identify the influence of Third-Party Funds, Non-Performing Loans (NPL), and Return on Assets on Credit Distribution. This research is a quantitative research using SEM PLS techniques through the help of smart pls 3.0 software. The results of the study found that DPK significantly affects PK, with a statistical T value of 6,556 > 1.96 and the original sample of -0.773. The absence of influence of NPL on PK due to its statistical T value of 0.868 < 1.96 and the original sample of -0.146 has a negative relationship to credit distribution. ROA has no direct influence on PK with a statistical T value of 0.006 < 1.96 and the original sample of -0.002 has a negative relationship meaning to PK. DPK had a significant negative influence on ROA with a statistical T value of 2,966 > 1.96 and the original sample of -0.657 having a negative relationship direction. There is no effect of NPL on ROA with a Statistical T value of 0.205 < 1.96 and the original sample of 0.056 has a positive relationship to ROA. NPL has no influence over PK through ROA mediation with its Statistical T value of 0.001

Finally, we present an algorithm encapsulating this learning and re-weighting process, and we provide strong PAC-style guarantees that, with high probability, our estimate of the risk of the hypothesis over the true distribution will be arbitrarily close to the true risk.

The Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015−2030’s (SFDRR) framing moved away from disaster risk as a natural phenomenon to the examination of the inequality and injustice at the root of human vulnerability to hazards and disasters. Yet, its achievements have not seriously challenged the long-established capitalist systems of oppression that hinder the development leading to disaster risk creation. This article is an exploratory mapping exercise of and a collective reflection on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and SFDRR indicators—and their use in measuring progress towards disaster risk reduction (DRR). We highlight that despite the rhetoric of vulnerability, the measurement of progress towards DRR remains event/hazard-centric. We argue that the measurement of disaster risk could be greatly enhanced by the integration of development data in future iterations of global DRR frameworks for action.
