New results of applying program LESSA for extracting and analyzing linear features are presented. Linear image features provide information about texture orientation. The methods developed for texture orientation can be applied to different types of image data such as grey tone images, binary schemes, and digital terrain maps. Texture orientation properties are characterized by rose diagrams, vector fields, and digital fields. ORNET, a special diagram for the indication of texture orientation, is proposed. Rose normalization stresses local orientation properties. Results of input data scaling are discussed. After processing, the resulting images and data can be used for visual analysis, and for automated statistical and logical analysis.
