Whether the angular momentum of protoplanetary discs is redistributed by viscosity or extracted by magnetised winds is a long-standing question. Demographic indicators, such as gas disc sizes and stellar accretion rates, have been proposed as ways of distinguishing between these two mechanisms. In this paper, we implement one-dimensional gas simulations to study the evolution of "hybrid" protoplanetary discs simultaneously driven by viscosity and magnetised winds, with dead zones present. We explore how the variations of disc properties, including initial disc sizes, dead zone sizes and angular momentum transport efficiency, affect stellar accretion rates, disc surface density profiles, disc sizes, disc lifetimes, and cumulative mass loss by different processes. Our models show that the expansion of the gas disc size can be sustained when the majority of angular momentum is removed by the magnetised wind for individual protoplanetary discs. However, when we can only observe discs via demographic screenshots, the variation of disc sizes with time is possibly diminished by the disc "personalities", by which we mean the variations of initial disc properties among different discs. Our "hybrid" models re-assess association of the two demographic indicators with mechanisms responsible for angular momentum transport and suggest additional diagnostics are required to assist the differentiation., Comment: 23 pages, 17 figures. PLATO (PLAnetary Transits and Oscillations of stars) is ESA's M3 mission designed to detect and characterise extrasolar planets and perform asteroseismic monitoring of a large number of stars. PLATO will detect small planets (down to <2 R_(Earth)) around bright stars (<11 mag), including terrestrial planets in the habitable zone of solar-like stars. With the complement of radial velocity observations from the ground, planets will be characterised for their radius, mass, and age with high accuracy (5 %, 10 %, 10 % for an Earth-Sun combination respectively). PLATO will provide us with a large-scale catalogue of well-characterised small planets up to intermediate orbital periods, relevant for a meaningful comparison to planet formation theories and to better understand planet evolution. It will make possible comparative exoplanetology to place our Solar System planets in a broader context. In parallel, PLATO will study (host) stars using asteroseismology, allowing us to determine the stellar properties with high accuracy, substantially enhancing our knowledge of stellar structure and evolution. The payload instrument consists of 26 cameras with 12cm aperture each. For at least four years, the mission will perform high-precision photometric measurements. Here we review the science objectives, present PLATO's target samples and fields, provide an overview of expected core science performance as well as a description of the instrument and the mission profile at the beginning of the serial production of the flight cameras. PLATO is scheduled for a launch date end 2026. This overview therefore provides a summary of the mission to the community in preparation of the upcoming operational phases.

Planet formation takes place in protoplanetary discs around young T-Tauri stars. PDS 70 is one of the first confirmed examples of a system where the planets are currently forming in gaps in the disc, and can be directly imaged. One of the main early influences on planet formation is the lifetime of the protoplanetary disk, which is limited by the intense stellar X-ray and UV radiation. Stellar coronal activity and accretion of material onto the star are both potential sources of XUV radiation. Previous \textit{Swift} observations detected UV emission, which were consistent with a low rate of accretion. We present follow up observations with the XMM-Newton observatory, which observed PDS 70 simultaneously in X-ray and UV in order to determine intensity of XUV radiation in the system, and identify if the source is coronal, accretion, or both. We detect a strong source in both X-ray and UV, with an average X-ray 0.2-12 keV luminosity of $1.37\times10^{30}\ \mathrm{erg\ s}^{-1}$, and a possible flare which increased the luminosity to $2.8\times10^{30}\ \mathrm{erg\ s}^{-1}$. The UV flux density is in excess of what would be expected from chromospheric emission, and supports the interpretation that PDS 70 has continuing weak accretion less than $\sim10^{-10}\ \mathrm{M_{\odot}\ yr^{-1}}$. The implications of the detected X-ray and UV radiation are that the disc is likely to be in the final stages of dispersal, and will be completely evaporated in the next million years, bringing an end to the primary planet formation process., Comment: 17 pages, Published in MNRAS

[Ne II] 12.81 $\mu\mathrm{m}$ emission is a well-used tracer of protoplanetary disk winds due to its blueshifted line profile. MIRI-MRS recently observed T Cha, detecting this line along with lines of [Ne III], [Ar II] and [Ar III], with the [Ne II] and [Ne III] lines found to be extended while the [Ar II] was not. In this complementary work, we use these lines to address long-debated questions about protoplanetary disk winds regarding their mass-loss rate, the origin of their ionization, and the role of magnetically-driven winds as opposed to photoevaporation. To this end, we perform photoionization radiative transfer on simple hydrodynamic wind models to map the line emission. We compare the integrated model luminosities to those observed with MIRI-MRS to identify which models most closely reproduce the data and produce synthetic images from these to understand what information is captured by measurements of the line extents. Along with the low degree of ionization implied by the line ratios, the relative compactness of [Ar II] compared to [Ne II] is particularly constraining. This requires Ne II production by hard X-rays and Ar II production by soft X-rays (and/or EUV) in an extended ($\gtrsim 10$ au) wind that is shielded from soft X-rays - necessitating a dense wind with material launched on scales down to ~1 au. Such conditions could be produced by photoevaporation, whereas an extended MHD wind producing equal shielding would likely underpredict the line fluxes. However, a tenuous inner MHD wind may still contribute to shielding the extended wind. Understanding when and how circumstellar disks disperse is crucial to constrain planet formation and migration. Thermal winds powered by high-energy stellar photons have long been theorized to drive disk dispersal. However, evidence for these winds is currently based only on small (~3-6 km/s) blue-shifts in [Ne II] 12.81 um lines, which does not exclude MHD winds. We report JWST MIRI MRS spectro-imaging of T Cha, a disk with a large dust gap (~30 au in radius) and blue-shifted [Ne II] emission. We detect four forbidden noble gas lines, [Ar II], [Ar III], [Ne II], and [Ne III], of which [Ar III] is the first detection in any protoplanetary disk. We use line flux ratios to constrain the energy of the ionizing photons and find that Argon is ionized by EUV whereas Neon is most likely ionized by X-rays. After performing continuum and Point Spread Function (PSF) subtraction on the IFU cube, we discover a spatial extension in the [Ne II] emission off the disk continuum emission. This is the first spatially resolved [Ne II] disk wind emission. The mostly ionic spectrum of T Cha, in combination with the extended [Ne II] emission, points to an evolved stage for any inner MHD wind and is consistent with the existence of an outer thermal wind ionized and driven by high-energy stellar photons. Artificial Intelligence (AI) has witnessed remarkable growth, particularly through the proliferation of Deep Neural Networks (DNNs). These powerful models drive technological advancements across various domains. However, to harness their potential in real-world applications, specialized hardware accelerators are essential. This demand has sparked a market for parameterizable AI hardware accelerators offered by different vendors. Manufacturers of AI-integrated products face a critical challenge: selecting an accelerator that aligns with their product's performance requirements. The decision involves choosing the right hardware and configuring a suitable set of parameters. However, comparing different accelerator design alternatives remains a complex task. Often, engineers rely on data sheets, spreadsheet calculations, or slow black-box simulators, which only offer a coarse understanding of the performance characteristics. The Abstract Computer Architecture Description Language (ACADL) is a concise formalization of computer architecture block diagrams, which helps to communicate computer architecture on different abstraction levels and allows for inferring performance characteristics. We carry out three dimensional smoothed particle hydrodynamics simulations to study the role of gravitational and drag forces on the concentration of large dust grains (St > 1) in the spiral arms of gravitationally unstable protoplanetary discs, and the resulting implications for planet formation. We find that both drag and gravity play an important role in the evolution of large dust grains. If we include both, grains that would otherwise be partially decoupled will become well coupled and trace the spirals. For the dust grains most influenced by drag (with Stokes numbers near unity), the dust disc quickly becomes gravitationally unstable and rapidly forms clumps with masses between 0.15 - 6 Earth masses. A large fraction of clumps are below the threshold where runaway gas accretion can occur. However, if dust self-gravity is neglected, the dust is unable to form clumps, despite still becoming trapped in the gas spirals. When large dust grains are unable to feel either gas gravity or drag, the dust is unable to trace the gas spirals. Hence, full physics is needed to properly simulate dust in gravitationally unstable discs. Dust trapping of large grains in spiral arms of discs stable to gas fragmentation could explain planet formation in very young discs by a population of planetesimals formed due to the combined roles of drag and gravity in the earliest stages of a disc's evolution. Furthermore, it highlights that gravitationally unstable discs are not just important for forming gas giants quickly, it can also rapidly form Earth mass bodies., Comment: Accepted for publication in MNRAS. T Tauri stars produce broad Lyman-alpha emission lines that contribute $\sim$88% of the total UV flux incident on the inner circumstellar disks. Lyman-alpha photons are generated at the accretion shocks and in the protostellar chromospheres and must travel through accretion flows, winds and jets, the protoplanetary disks, and the interstellar medium before reaching the observer. This trajectory produces asymmetric, double-peaked features that carry kinematic and opacity signatures of the disk environments. To understand the link between the evolution of Lyman-alpha emission lines and the disks themselves, we model HST-COS spectra from targets included in Data Release 3 of the Hubble UV Legacy Library of Young Stars as Essential Standards (ULLYSES) program. We find that resonant scattering in a simple spherical expanding shell is able to reproduce the high velocity emission line wings, providing estimates of the average velocities within the bulk intervening H I. The model velocities are significantly correlated with the K band veiling, indicating a turnover from Lyman-alpha profiles absorbed by outflowing winds to emission lines suppressed by accretion flows as the hot inner disk is depleted. Just 30% of targets in our sample have profiles with red-shifted absorption from accretion flows, many of which have resolved dust gaps. At this stage, Lyman-alpha photons may no longer intersect with disk winds along the path to the observer. Our results point to a significant evolution of Lyman-alpha irradiation within the gas disks over time, which may lead to chemical differences that are observable with ALMA and JWST., Comment: accepted to ApJ

In multiple stellar systems interactions among the companion stars and their discs affect planet formation. In the circumstellar case tidal truncation makes protoplanetary discs smaller, fainter and less long-lived than those evolving in isolation, thereby reducing the amount of material (gas and dust) available to assemble planetary embryos. On the contrary, in the circumbinary case the reduced accretion can increase the disc lifetime, with beneficial effects on planet formation. In this chapter we review the main observational results on discs in multiple stellar systems and discuss their possible explanations, focusing on recent numerical simulations, mainly dealing with dust dynamics and disc evolution. We present an analysis of an unusual pattern of water vapor emission from the $\sim$2 Myr-old low-mass binary system VV CrA, as observed in infrared spectra obtained with VLT-CRIRES, VLT-VISIR, and Spitzer-IRS. Each component of the binary shows emission from water vapor in both the L ($\sim3\,\mu$m) and N ($\sim 12\,\mu$m) bands. The N-band and Spitzer spectra are similar to those previously observed from young stars with disks, and are consistent with emission from an extended protoplanetary disk. Conversely, the CRIRES L-band data of VV CrA A show an unusual spectrum, which requires the presence of a water reservoir with high temperature ($T\gtrsim1500$ K), column density ($N_\mathrm{H2O}\sim 3\times10^{20}\ \mathrm{cm}^{-2}$), and turbulent broadening ($v\sim 10$ km s$^{-1}$), but very small emitting area ($A\lesssim0.005$ AU$^2$). Similarity with previously observed water emission from V1331 Cyg (Doppmann et al. 2011) and SVS 13 (Carr et al. 2004) suggests that the presence of such a reservoir may be linked to evolutionary state, perhaps related to the presence of high accretion rates or winds. While the inner disk may harbor such a reservoir, simple Keplerian models do not match well with emitting line shapes, and alternative velocity fields must be considered. We also present a new idea, that the unusual emission could arise in a circumplanetary disk, embedded within the larger VV CrA A protoplanetary disk. Many circumstellar discs appear to have misaligned central regions that give rise to shadows seen in scattered light observations. Small warps ($<20^\circ$ misalignment) are probably more common but are also more difficult to detect than the large misalignments studied previously. We present the characteristics of CO emission that may be used to identify a small disc warp, found from synthetic $^{13}$CO maps of a model misaligned circumbinary disc. The spectra are not symmetrical, so fitting a Keplerian model is not appropriate and can hide a warp or lead to spurious features such as spirals appearing in the residuals. We quantify the observed warp structure by fitting sinusoids to concentric annuli of the disc. From this we can trace the radial variation of the peak velocity and of the azimuth of the peak velocity, i.e., the twist. At near face-on inclinations, these radial profiles reveal the warp structure. The twist remains detectable at moderate inclinations (${i_{\rm outer~disc}\lesssim 35^{\circ}}$) in the absence of radial flows but the measured inclination must be accurate to $\lesssim 5^{\circ}$ to allow detection of the radial variation. The observed twist does not provide a direct measure of the warp structure because of its dependence on optical depth. The warp causes broad asymmetries in the channel maps that span several channels and that are distinct from localised features caused by embedded planets and gravitational instability. We suspect that kinematic evidence of warps may have been missed and we suggest a few examples where the data may be revisited., Comment: 16 pages. Accepted to MNRAS

Circumstellar discs may become warped or broken into distinct planes if there is a stellar or planetary companion with an orbit that is misaligned with respect to the disc. There is mounting observational evidence for protoplanetary discs with misaligned inner discs and warps that may be caused by such interactions with a previously undetected companion, giving us a tantalising indication of possible planets forming there. Hydrodynamical and radiative transfer models indicate that the temperature varies azimuthally in warped discs due to the variable angle at which the disc surface faces the star and this impacts the disc chemistry. We perform chemical modelling based on a hydrodynamical model of a protoplanetary disc with an embedded planet orbiting at a 12$^{\circ}$ inclination to the disc. Even for this small misalignment, abundances of species including CO and HCO$^+$ vary azimuthally and this results in detectable azimuthal variations in submillimetre line emission. Azimuthal variations in line emission may therefore indicate the presence of an unseen embedded companion. The exotic range of known planetary systems has provoked an equally exotic range of physical explanations for their diverse architectures. However, constraining formation processes requires mapping the observed exoplanet population to that which initially formed in the protoplanetary disc. Numerous results suggest that (internal or external) dynamical perturbation alters the architectures of some exoplanetary systems. Isolating planets that have evolved without any perturbation can help constrain formation processes. We consider the Kepler multiples, which have low mutual inclinations and are unlikely to have been dynamically perturbed. We apply a modelling approach similar to that of Mulders et al. (2018), additionally accounting for the two-dimensionality of the radius ($R =0.3-20\,R_\oplus$) and period ($P= 0.5-730$ days) distribution. We find that an upper limit in planet mass of the form $M_{\rm{lim}} \propto a^\beta \exp(-a_{\rm{in}}/a)$, for semi-major axis $a$ and a broad range of $a_{\rm{in}}$ and $\beta$, can reproduce a distribution of $P$, $R$ that is indistinguishable from the observed distribution by our comparison metric. The index is consistent with $\beta= 1.5$, expected if growth is limited by accretion within the Hill radius. This model is favoured over models assuming a separable PDF in $P$, $R$. The limit, extrapolated to longer periods, is coincident with the orbits of RV-discovered planets ($a>0.2$ au, $M>1\,M_{\rm{J}}$) around recently identified low density host stars, hinting at isolation mass limited growth. We discuss the necessary circumstances for a coincidental age-related bias as the origin of this result, concluding that such a bias is possible but unlikely. The protoplanetary disc HD 100453 exhibits a curious combination of spirals, shadows and a relative misalignment between the observed outer disc and inferred inner disc. This disc is accompanied by a secondary star on a bound orbit exterior to the disc. Recent observations have suggested there may be an additional low-mass companion residing within the disc inner cavity. In our companion paper the orbit of the secondary was shown to be misaligned by 61 degrees to the plane of the outer disc. Here we investigate the properties of the inner companion and the origin of the misalignment between the inner and outer disc. Using numerical simulations and synthetic observations, we show that the disc structure and kinematics are consistent with a $\lesssim$ 5 Jupiter mass planet located at 15-20au. We find that the disc evolution over around 50 binary orbits (about 10$^5$ yrs) is governed by differential precession and to a lesser extent, the Kozai-Lidov effect. In our proposed model the misalignment observed between the outer and inner disc arises naturally as a result of the misaligned outer companion driving the outer disc to precess more rapidly than the inner disc., Comment: Accepted for publication in MNRAS, 12 pages, 6 figures. We study the mutual evolution of the orbital properties of high mass ratio, circular, co-planar binaries and their surrounding discs, using 3D Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics simulations. We investigate the evolution of binary and disc eccentricity, cavity structure and the formation of orbiting azimuthal over-dense features in the disc. Even with circular initial conditions, all discs with mass ratios $q>0.05$ develop eccentricity. We find that disc eccentricity grows abruptly after a relatively long time-scale ($\sim 400\textrm{--}700$ binary orbits), and is associated with a very small increase in the binary eccentricity. When disc eccentricity grows, the cavity semi-major axis reaches values $a_{\rm cav}\approx 3.5\, a_{\rm bin}$. We also find that the disc eccentricity correlates linearly with the cavity size. Viscosity and orbit crossing, appear to be responsible for halting the disc eccentricity growth -- eccentricity at the cavity edge in the range $e_{\rm cav}\sim 0.05\textrm{--} 0.35$. Our analysis shows that the current theoretical framework cannot fully explain the origin of these evolutionary features when the binary is almost circular ($e_{\rm bin}\lesssim 0.01$); we speculate about alternative explanations. As previously observed, we find that the disc develops an azimuthal over-dense feature in Keplerian motion at the edge of the cavity. A low contrast over-density still co-moves with the flow after 2000 binary orbits; such an over-density can in principle cause significant dust trapping, with important consequences for protoplanetary disc observations., Comment: 20 pages, 17 figures, 1 table, accepted for publication in MNRAS

We present the discovery of NGTS J214358.5-380102, an eccentric M-dwarf binary discovered by the Next Generation Transit Survey. The system period of 7.618 days is greater than many known eclipsing M-dwarf binary systems. Its orbital eccentricity of $0.323^{+0.0014}_{-0.0037}$, is large relative to the period and semi-major axis of the binary. Global modelling of photometry and radial velocities indicate stellar masses of $M_A$=$0.426 ^{+0.0056}_{-0.0049}$, $M_B$=$0.455 ^{+0.0058}_{-0.0052}$ and stellar radii $R_A$=$0.461 ^{+0.038}_{-0.025}$ $R_B$=$0.411 ^{+0.027}_{-0.039}$, respectively. Comparisons with stellar models for low mass stars show that one star is consistent with model predictions whereas the other is substantially oversized. Spectral analysis of the system suggests a primary of spectral type M3V, consistent with both modelled masses and radii, and with SED fitting of NGTS photometry. As the most eccentric eclipsing M-dwarf binary known, NGTS J214358.5-380102 provides an interesting insight into the strength of tidal effects in the circularisation of stellar orbits., Comment: Accepted for Publication in MNRAS

We now have several observational examples of misaligned broken protoplanetary discs, where the disc inner regions are strongly misaligned with respect to the outer disc. Current models suggest that this disc structure can be generated with an internal misaligned companion (stellar or planetary), but the occurrence rate of these currently unobserved companions remains unknown. Here we explore whether a strong misalignment between the inner and outer disc can be formed without such a companion. We consider a disc that has an existing gap --- essentially separating the disc into two regions --- and use a flyby to disturb the discs, leading to a misalignment. Despite considering the most optimistic parameters for this scenario, we find maximum misalignments between the inner and outer disc of $\sim$45$^{\circ}$ and that these misalignments are short-lived. We thus conclude that the currently observed misaligned discs must harbour internal, misaligned companions., Comment: Accepted for publication in MNRAS. 9 pages with 6 figures

PDS 70 is a $\sim$5 Myr old star with a gas and dust disc in which several proto-planets have been discovered. We present the first UV detection of the system along with X-ray observations taken with the \textit{Neil Gehrels Swift Observatory} satellite. PDS 70 has an X-ray flux of 3.4$\times 10^{-13}$ erg cm$^{-2}$ s$^{-1}$ in the 0.3-10.0 keV range, and UV flux (U band) of 3.5$\times 10^{-13}$ erg cm$^{-2}$ s$^{-1}$ . At the distance of 113.4 pc determined from Gaia DR2 this gives luminosities of 5.2$\times 10^{29}$ erg s$^{-1}$ and 5.4$\times 10^{29}$ erg s$^{-1}$ respectively. The X-ray luminosity is consistent with coronal emission from a rapidly rotating star close to the log $\frac{L_{\mathrm{X}}}{L_{\mathrm{bol}}} \sim -3$ saturation limit. We find the UV luminosity is much lower than would be expected if the star were still accreting disc material and suggest that the observed UV emission is coronal in origin., Comment: 5 pages, 3 figures, accepted for publication in MNRAS Letters

Tidal encounters in star clusters perturb discs around young protostars. In Cuello et al. (2019a, Paper I) we detailed the dynamical signatures of a stellar flyby in both gas and dust. Flybys produce warped discs, spirals with evolving pitch angles, increasing accretion rates, and disc truncation. Here we present the corresponding observational signatures of these features in optical/near-infrared scattered light and (sub-) millimeter continuum and CO line emission. Using representative prograde and retrograde encounters for direct comparison, we post-process hydrodynamical simulations with radiative transfer methods to generate a catalogue of multi-wavelength observations. This provides a reference to identify flybys in recent near-infrared and sub-millimetre observations (e.g., RW Aur, AS 205, HV Tau & DO Tau, FU Ori, V2775 Ori, and Z CMa)., Comment: 11 pages, 5 figures, accepted for publication in MNRAS

Protoplanetary discs (PPDs) in the Orion Nebula Cluster (ONC) are irradiated by UV fields from the massive star $\theta^1$C. This drives thermal winds, inducing mass loss rates of up to $\dot{M}_\mathrm{wind}\sim 10^{-7}\,M_\odot$/yr in the `proplyds' (ionised PPDs) close to the centre. For the mean age of the ONC and reasonable initial PPD masses, such mass loss rates imply that discs should have been dispersed. However, ~80% of stars still exhibit a NIR excess, suggesting that significant circumstellar mass remains. This `proplyd lifetime problem' has persisted since the discovery of photoevaporating discs in the core of the ONC by O'Dell & Wen (1994). In this work, we demonstrate how an extended period of star formation can solve this problem. Coupling N-body calculations and a viscous disc evolution model, we obtain high disc fractions at the present day. This is partly due to the migration of older stars outwards, and younger stars inwards such that the most strongly irradiated PPDs are also the youngest. We show how the disc mass distribution can be used to test the recent claims in the literature for multiple stellar populations in the ONC. Our model also explains the recent finding that host mass and PPD mass are only weakly correlated, in contrast with other regions of similar age. We conclude that the status of the ONC as the archetype for understanding the influence of environment on planet formation is undeserved; the complex star formation history (involving star formation episodes within ~0.8 Myr of the present day) results in confusing signatures in the PPD population., Comment: 16 pages, 11 figures, accepted for publication in MNRAS

Three-dimensional hydrodynamic numerical simulations have demonstrated that the structure of a protoplanetary disc may be strongly affected by a planet orbiting in a plane that is misaligned to the disc. When the planet is able to open a gap, the disc is separated into an inner, precessing disc and an outer disc with a warp. In this work, we compute infrared scattered light images to investigate the observational consequences of such an arrangement. We find that an inner disc misaligned by a less than a degree to the outer disc is indeed able to cast a shadow at larger radii. In our simulations a planet of around 6 Jupiter masses inclined by around 2 degrees is enough to warp the disc and cast a shadow with a depth of more than 10% of the average flux at that radius. We also demonstrate that warp in the outer disc can cause a variation in the azimuthal brightness profile at large radii. Importantly, this latter effect is a function of the distance from the star and is most prominent in the outer disc. We apply our model to the TW Hya system, where a misaligned, precessing inner disc has been invoked to explain an recently observed shadow in the outer disc. Consideration of the observational constraints suggest that an inner disc precessing due to a misaligned planet is an unlikely explanation for the features found in TW Hya., Comment: Accepted for publication in MNRAS, 13 pages and 9 figures. We investigate how the detectability of signatures of self-gravity in a protoplanetary disc depends on its temporal evolution. We run a one-dimensional model for secular timescales to follow the disc mass as a function of time. We then combine this with three-dimensional global hydrodynamics simulations that employ a hybrid radiative transfer method to approximate realistic heating and cooling. We simulate ALMA continuum observations of these systems, and find that structures induced by the gravitational instability (GI) are readily detectable when $q=M_\mathrm{disc}/M_*\gtrsim 0.25$ and $R_\mathrm{outer}\lesssim 100$ au. The high accretion rate generated by gravito-turbulence in such a massive disc drains its mass to below the detection threshold in $\sim10^4$ years, or approximately 1 % of the typical disc lifetime. Therefore, discs with spiral arms detected in ALMA dust observations, if generated by self-gravity, must either be still receiving infall to maintain a high $q$ value, or have just emerged from their natal envelope. Detection of substructure in systems with lower $q$ is possible, but would require a specialist integration with the most extended configuration over several days. This disfavours the possibility of GI-caused spiral structure in systems with $q<0.25$ being detected in relatively short integration times, such as those found in the DSHARP ALMA survey (Andrews et al. 2018; Huang et al. 2018). We find no temporal dependence of detectability on dynamical timescales, Comment: 13 pages, 6 figures
