A taxonomic study of two Korean staphylinid species is presented. Baeocera satana Nakane is identified for the first time in the Korean Peninsula and diagnosed with illustrations of its diagnostic characters. Dalotia coriaria (Kraatz) is newly discovered in South Korea and is redescribed with illustrations of its diagnostic characters.

A taxonomic study of the genus Dinaraea Thomson in Korea is presented. Three species are recognized and D. linearis (Gravenhorst) is newly added to the Korean fauna. A key to Korean species, redescriptions, and illustrations of the habitus photographs and diagnostic characters are provided.

Five species of Geostiba Thomson, 1858 from the Kakheti region, Northeast Georgia, are described and illustrated: Geostiba (Tropogastrosipalia) angularis spec. nov. (region to the north of Lechuri); G. (Sibiota) tbatanana spec. nov. (Tbatana Range) and G. (S.) gomborica spec. nov. (Gombori Range) of the G. bituberculata group; G. (Sibiota) bulbosa spec. nov. (Gombori Range) and G. (S.) effeminata spec. nov. (region to the south of Abano pass) of the G. carinicollis group. The distribution of Geostiba (Sipalotricha) cingulata (Eppelsheim, 1878) is revised and illustrated; a previous record from Azerbaijan is regarded as probably incorrect (result of mislabeled material). The distributions of the species of the subgenus Sibiota Casey, 1906 recorded from Georgia east of South Ossetia are mapped. Additional records of nine species are reported. The Geostiba fauna of the Caucasus region sensu lato is now represented by a total of 55 named species, 34 of which belong to the subgenus Sibiota. Twenty-six species have been recorded from Georgia.

Tectusa abanona spec. nov. (Georgia: Kakheti: Abano pass), the first confirmed record of the oxypodine genus Tectusa Bernhauer, 1899 from the Greater Caucasus, is described and illustrated. The distributions of the two Caucasian representatives of the genus are mapped.

The mitochondrial genome (mitogenome) of Aleochara (Aleochara) curtula (Goeze, 1777) (Coleoptera: Staphylinidae) is reported. This mitogenome (GenBank accession no. OL675411) is 16,600 bp in size and consists of 13 protein-coding genes (PCGs), 22 transfer RNA genes (tRNAs), and two ribosomal RNA genes (rRNA). Most PCGs use typical mitochondrial stop codon (TAR) except for cox3, which uses a single T residue. The A, G, T, and C nucleotide base composition of the mitogenome is 40.61%, 7.66%, 40.34%, and 11.39%, respectively. The phylogenetic analyses recovered the monophyly of Aleocharinae.

A review of the genus Mocyta Mulsant & Rey, 1874, which is represented in Ukraine; a description of the main morphological features and diagnostic features is made, data on ecological features, seasonal activity of adults, the distribution of representatives of the genus in Ukraine and the world and the keys to identify the species are presented. The information on the distribution of species of the genus Mocyta in the territory of Ukraine has been clarified and significantly supplemented by new findings. The results can be used to address a number of theoretical issues of faunistics, zoogeography, and ecology, as well as in compiling the inventory of the fauna of the Ukrainian Carpathians, for comparative faunal research, in the analysis of species distribution, in biogeographic constructions, studies of faunogenesis, ecological monitoring and prediction of consequences of the influence of human activities on natural ecosystems of the region. The genus Mocyta is a widespread genus, which in terms of the combination of morphological and biological features belongs to the tribe Athetini Casey, 1910 of the subfamily Aleocharinae Fleming, 1821 of the family Staphylinidae Latreille, 1802. There are 26 known species in the fauna of Palearctic, 5 of which (Mocyta clientula, M. fungi fungi, M. fussi, M. orbata, M. orphana) are represented in the fauna of Ukraine. However, it is likely that there are two more species (M. amplicollis and M. negligens), identified for the surrounding areas, for which characteristics and comparative diagnoses have also been provided. This paper is a continuation of the initiated series of reviews of genera and species of the tribe Athetini of the fauna of Ukraine. Taking into account the wide geographical distribution and significant individual variability in size, colour and shape of the spermatheca of representatives of the genus, the identification of the latter presents some significant difficulties.

Two field trips to Northwest Georgia conducted in 2021 yielded 29 specimens of the Caucasian genus Pseudotyphlopasilia Pace, 1983, most of them collected by soil-washing. The material belongs to five species, two of them described and three of them unnamed. Two of the unnamed species are described and illustrated: P. confusa spec. nov. (Racha: environs of Lailashi) and P. egrisica spec. nov. (Zemo Svaneti: Egrisi Range). One species remains unnamed for want of males. Additional records are provided for two previously described species, including Pseudotyphlopasilia coeca (Eppelsheim, 1878) (type species of the genus) of which only few and mostly old specimens were previously available. New illustrations are provided for P. coeca and P. acris Assing, 2021. The genus currently contains a total of twelve named species, all of them anophthalmous and micropterous, with eleven of them distributed in Georgia and one in the Russian West Caucasus. The distributions of five species are mapped.

There is insufficient information to identify most species of the myrmecophilous rove beetle genus Homoeusa. In this paper, after examining the type material, Homoeusa rufescens (Sharp, 1874) is redescribed in detail and its new allied species Homoeusa ovata sp. nov. is described. We also observed the behavior of these two species in the field; the behavior was similar to that reported for H. acuminata (Märkel, 1842). The Carpathian species of the genus Atheta Thomson, 1858 are reviewed. The list contains 65 species, of which 8 species: Atheta kochi Roubal, 1937, A. intermedia (Thomson, 1852), A. setigera (Sharp, 1869), A. foveicollis (Kraatz, 1856), A. luctuosa (Mulsant & Rey, 1853), A. cribrata (Kraatz, 1856), A. mortuorum Thomson, 1867, A. picipes (Thomson, 1856), are recorded for Ukraine for the first time. A comparative morphology-based study of types and additional material of species previously assigned to Tetralaucopora Bernhauer, 1928, Tectusa Bernhauer, 1899, and various other genera of Oxypodina results in numerous taxonomic changes. Parocyusa Bernhauer, 1902, previously a synonym of Tectusa, is revalidated. The genus has a Holarctic distribution and currently includes 33 described species, 20 species in the West Palaearctic (including Middle Asia), twelve in the East Palaearctic, and two species (one of them probably native in the West Palaearctic) in the Nearctic region. The validity of two species, one from North Europe and one from Japan, requires confirmation and one name is treated as a tentative synonym. Ten of the West Palaearctic species are micropterous or submacropterous and have restricted distributions, whereas the remainder is macropterous and more or less widespread. Tectusa presently includes 41 described species, all of them micropterous and with restricted distributions, with the vast majority confined to mountain ranges in the Balkans. The genus is most likely polyphyletic. However, with the type material of several species (including the type species of available genus-group names) currently inaccessible, this issue will have to be addressed in a future revision. All the newly described Tectusa species are distributed in Greece and, except for T. to Tectusa are moved to the genus Duplocyusa gen.n. (type species Oxypoda uludaghensis Fagel, 1971), with the Carpathian species in the subgenus Carpocyusa subgen.n. (type species Tectusa nigromontis Zerche, 2007): Duplocyusa (Duplocyusa) uludaghensis Fagel, 1971, comb.n.; Duplocyusa (Carpocyusa) nigromontis (Zerche, 2007), comb.n.; D. The Japanese species of the intertidal rove beetle genus Bryothinusa Casey, 1904 are revised. Of 17 recognized species in total, six known species (B. algarum Sawada, 1971, B. gangjinensis Ahn & Jeon, 2004, B. minuta (Sawada, 1955), B. nakanei (Sawada, 1955), B. sakishimana Sawada, 1991, B. tsutsuii (Sawada, 1955)) are redescribed and nine new species (B. aikoae sp. nov. from Honshû, B. constricta sp. nov. from Honshû, B. fulvipennis sp. nov. from Honshû and Shikoku, B. hokkaidensis sp. nov. from Hokkaidô and Kyûshû, B. itsuroi sp. nov. from Honshû, Kyûshû and Nansei-shotô, B. moriguchii sp. nov. from Nansei-shotô, B. nigra sp. nov. from Honshû, Shikoku, Kyûshû and Nansei-shotô, B. okinawana sp. nov. from Nansei-shotô, B. yoshigoui sp. nov. from Honshû) are described. Additional descriptions and records for the two species (B. koreana Ahn & Jeon, 2004 and B. japonica Liu, Ono & Maruyama, 2020) which are currently described/redescribed are given. Mouthparts and sexual organs of both sexes of all species are illustrated. A key to the Japanese species and distribution map of these species are provided. As result of faunistic studies from Afyonkarahisar province in central western Anatolia, three new species of the subgenus Tropogastrosipalia Scheerpeltz belonging to the genus Geostiba Thomson are described and illustrated: Geostiba ahirensis sp. nov. (Ahır Dağları), G. sandiklica sp. nov. (Sandıklı Dağı), and G. karakusensis sp. nov. (Karakuş Dağları). The Formosan subterranean termite, Coptotermes formosanus Shiraki, 1909 (Blattodea: Rhinotermitidae), is a well-known pest of wood structures. Its native range has been widely investigated for potential implications for pest control strategies. Termitophilous staphylinid species of the genera Japanophilus Maruyama & Iwata, 2002 and Sinophilus Kistner, 1985 found in nests of C. formosanus have been used to infer the native range of their host termite. Herein, we extend the range of these two genera to include Taiwan, the type locality of C. formosanus. Taiwanese specimens were identifi ed as J. hojoi Maruyama & Iwata, 2002 and S. yukoae Maruyama & Iwata, 2002 based on morphological and molecular data. The fi rst-instar larva of J. hojoi is described, the fi rst known immature stage of the tribe Termitohospitini (Coleoptera: Staphylinidae: Aleocharinae). [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
