Abstract

Blockchain has emerged as a trusted and secure distributed ledger for transactions while also being decentralised, distributed and its legitimacy not guaranteed by a trusted authority. Since the appearance of Bitcoin, Blockchain has known many implementations based on P2P architectures. This paper presents how the blockchain and smart contracts technologies can be integrated into the SwarmESB ecosystem. SwarmESB is a framework that helps building distributed applications, which benefit from privacy and scalability features. Our proposal will present the flexibility in building not only microservices based applications, but also decen-tralised applications employing blockchain and smart-contracts by modeling a sample Dapp.

Abstract

With the everlasting development of technology and society, data privacy has proven to grow into a pressing issue. The bureaucratic state system seems to expand the number of personal documents required for any kind of request. Therefore, it becomes obvious that the number of people having access to information that should be private is on the rise as well. This paper offers an alternative cloud integration solution centered on user data privacy, its main purpose being to help software services providers and public institutions to comply with the General Data Protection Regulation. Throughout this proposal we describe how data confidentiality can be achieved by transitioning complex human procedures into a coordinated and decoupled swarm system, whose core lies within the "Privacy by Design" principles.

Abstract

The objective of this paper is to present the software architecture used for the OPERANDO privacy platform, funded by the European Union in a Horizon 2020 project. For integration, OPERANDO is using SwarmESB, an open source Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) based on executable choreographies. In this paper we are presenting the concept of service transformations, presented as a bridge between the world of REST web services and the world of services implemented with executable choreographies. These transformations are improving the heterogeneity aspects when we are analysing SwarmESB as a distributed system. Five types of transformations that have been analysed and implemented as open source software have been integrated. This proposal is shaped around a common language capable of expressing all these five transformation types we have identified working for OPERANDO. Therefore, the Domain Specific Language proposed, renders the essential elements for transformations among functions, web services and executable choreographies. This unification will trigger a quantitative effect on the productivity of the teams creating or integrating web services in a federated service bus environment which is a key architectural component in the future Internet-of-Things and cloud systems. Abstract

In this paper we present an image retrieval system created within the research project MUCKE (Multimedia and User Credibility Knowledge Extraction), a CHIST-ERA research project where UAIC1 is one of the partners2. Our discussion in this work will focus mainly on components that are part of our image retrieval system proposed in MUCKE, and we present the work done by the UAIC group. MUCKE incorporates modules for processing multimedia content in different modes and languages (like English, French, German and Romanian) and UAIC is responsible with text processing tasks (for Romanian and English). One of the problems addressed by our work is related to search results diversification. In order to solve this problem, we first process the user queries in both languages and secondly, we create clusters of similar images. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
