The present paper aims to examine the instructors' perceptions of learner-centered instruction and possible barriers to implementing this instructional method in teaching English as a Foreign Language (EFL) at the university level in the Saudi Arabian context. To do this, four questions were posed. The first question investigates instructors' perceptions of learner-centered instruction, and the second question examines the barriers that would face EFL instructors while implementing learner-centered instruction when teaching preparatory year students. The third and fourth questions are an attempt to investigate if there are any significant differences in instructors' perceptions at (a = 0.05) due to instructors' qualifications and years of experience. The researchers developed a 4-Likert scale questionnaire of two main parts: personal and professional-perceptions and barriers. The qualitative part includes an open-ended question for instructors to elaborate on possible barriers that would hinder implementing learner-centered instruction. The results of the first question indicated that instructors have a positive attitude toward learner-centered instruction. They believe that it is an effective way to enhance students' learning. The second question reveals that instructors agree with all the barriers that hinder the implementation of this instructional method except one item related to their attitudes which have been demonstrated as positive in their responses to the first question. The third and fourth questions revealed no significant differences in instructors' perceptions due to qualifications and years of experience which could be due to the institutional and educational context that haven't supported instructors' qualifications and years of experience.

High temperatures in late spring, summer, and autumn are one of the main elements limiting cucumber production. Heat stress in cucumber plants leads to significant changes in sex expression and negative effects at the physiological stage, including decreased absorption of water and nutrients, decreased photosynthetic functions, and increased respiration, which in turn affects growth and production. Therefore, it is very difficult for cucumber plants exposed to heat stress to improve their productivity, especially in arid and semi-arid regions. Cucumber plants bear a variety of flower forms, including staminate, pistillate, and hermaphrodites that occur in different arrangements. In addition, maleness is considered the main problem in cucumber production, as it significantly reduces fruit yield. Recently, the growth, flowering, and productivity of plants have been controlled with the help of growth-regulating substances, and one of these substances is naphthalene acetic acid (NAA), which is of great importance in modifying sex in cucumber and various cucurbit crops. Two experiments were conducted during 2022 and 2023 during the summer season to study the effect of foliar spraying of two levels of potassium nitrate, 500 mg/L and 1000 mg/L, and two levels of NAA, 50 mg/L and 100 mg/L, individually and together, and the comparison treatment in nine treatments on growth traits, sex ratio, fruit traits and yield of cucumber (Cucumis sativas L.) plants in three replicates in a completely randomized block design. The results indicated that applying the treatment containing 1000 mg/L KNO3 + 100 mg/L NAA led to obtaining the highest value in most vegetable growth, flowering, and production parameters, with a significant increase compared to the control and all other treatments. Followed by treatments consisting of potassium nitrate and NAA, which gave high values in the traits of sex ratio %, fruit setting %, fruit yield, and most other traits. Achillea fragrantissima is a shrub plant that belongs to the Asteraceae family in Arabia and Egypt. It is used as folk medicine and is a good source of phenolic acids, flavonoids, and some active compounds. To investigate the anti-cancer effect of A.fragrantissima on breast cancer MCF-7 cells and find the critical mechanism involved in apoptosis. The toxicity and pharmacokinetic studies of ethanolic extract of A.fragrantissima was examined for anti-breast cancer properties. In turn, cytotoxicity and cell viability were achieved by the MTT method. Furthermore, the trypan blue exclusion and microscopy examination proved the presence of apoptotic cells. Again, fluorescent staining such as AO/EtBr, DCFH-DA, Rho-123, and Hoechst-33342 reveals the cellular cytoplasmic disciplines upon A. fragrantissima effect. Moreover, cellular functioning tests like wound healing, colony formation, and Transwell invasion assay were demonstrated. In addition, the qRT-PCR technique authenticates the A. fragrantissima -induced apoptotic network genes (Caspase-3, Caspase-8, Caspase-9, Cytochrome c, BCL-2, BID, BAX, PARP, PTEN, PI3K, and Akt) expression were evaluated. Mainly, the Immunoblot technique proved the expressed level of apoptotic proteins such as cleaved PARP, CYCS, and FADD. This study confirmed that the A. fragrantissima exerts cytotoxicity at 20 μg/mL for 24 hrs in MCF-7 cells. Also, decreases cellular viability, producing apoptotic cells and damaged cellular surfaces with dead matter. Consequently, it creates ROS species accumulation, loss of mitochondrial membrane potential, and fragmentation of DNA in MCF-7 cells. Furthermore, it arrests cell migration, induces colony-forming ability loss, and suppresses cell invasion. In addition, A. fragrantissima significantly upregulates genes such as caspase-3, 9, cytochrome c, BID, BAX, and PTEN while downregulating the Pi3K/ Akt signaling. The exponential growth of obesity rates is a pressing issue, as it is now firmly established as a primary driver behind the development of metabolic disorders. Natural products are crucial in drug discovery, prompting an increasing need for further research on bioactive compounds to understand molecular and pharmacological mechanisms and expand available clinical treatments for various diseases. We set out to investigate the therapeutic potential of Retama raetam (RR) extract, a natural compound, in alleviating testicular degeneration and improving sperm quality and quantity in high-fat diet (HFD)-induced type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and streptozotocin (STZ)-induced type 2 diabetes mellitus. An eight-week high-fat diet (HFD) was administered to type 2 diabetic rats, and then a modest dose of 35 mg/kg of STZ was injected intraperitoneally. The experiment planned to assess the influence of RR extract on the steroidogenesis pathway. For twelve weeks, the rats were given medications orally. The testicular degeneration caused by HFD/STZ is shown by decreasing the accessory sexual glands while reducing the quality of sperm characters and testosterone levels with significantly increased pad fat and leptin levels. Furthermore, administration of RR extract effectively counteracted HFD/STZ-induced oxidation through enhancing the antioxidant status of the testicular tissue through significantly increased SOD and GSH accompanied by decreasing MDA. HFD/STZ rats showed decreased expression of CYP17, STAR, 3βHSD, and BCL2 genes, along with increased BAX gene expression. However, treatment with RR in HFD/STZ rats led to decreased BAX expression and increased expression of CYP17, STAR, 3βHSD, and BCL2 genes, indicating a restoration of gene expression values similar to the control group. The binding site of Bax showed a strong affinity for several bioactive compounds found in R. raetam. The findings from this study suggest that Retama raetam (RR) has the potential as a therapeutic adjunct for managing complications related to type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). The present study was designed to green synthesize titanium dioxide nanoparticles (G-TiO2 NPs) using Salacia reticulata leaf extract as a reducing and capping agent to assess antidiabetic, anti-inflammatory, and antibacterial effects as well as toxicity evaluation in zebrafish. Besides, zebrafish embryos were employed to study the effect of G-TiO2 NPs on embryonic development. Zebrafish embryos were treated with TiO2 as well as G-TiO2 NPs at four different concentrations, i.e., 25, 50, 100, and 200 µg/ml for 24–96-hour post-fertilization (hpf). The SEM analysis of G-TiO2 NPs confirmed that the size was in the range of 32–46 nm and characterized by EDX, X-ray diffraction (XRD), FTIR, UV–vis spectra. During 24–96-hour post-fertilization (hpf), the results showed that 25–100 µg/ml of TiO2 and G-TiO2 NP instigated developmental acute toxicity in these embryos, causing mortality, hatching delay, and malformation. TiO2 and G-TiO2 NPs exposure induced axis bent, tail bent, spinal cord curvature, yolk-sac, and pericardial edema. Exposure of larvae to the highest concentrations of 200 μg/ml TiO2 and G-TiO2 NPs caused maximum mortality at all time points and reached 70% and 50%, respectively, at 96 hpf. Besides, both TiO2 and G-TiO2 NP revealed antidiabetic and anti-inflammatory effects in vitro. In addition, G-TiO2 NPs exhibited antibacterial effects. Taken together, this study provided a valuable insight into the synthesis of TiO2 NPs using green methods and the synthesized G-TiO2 NPs possess moderate toxicity and potent antidiabetic, anti-inflammatory and antibacterial activities. The biogenic manufacture of nanoparticles utilising endophytic fungus is an eco-friendly, cost-effective, and secure alternative to constructing chemical methods. The prime focus of the study was to fabricate ZnONPs using the biomass filtrate of endophytic Xylaria arbuscula isolated from Blumea axillaris Linn. and to evaluate their biological properties. The characterisation of the biosynthesized ZnO-NPs was done utilising both spectroscopic and microscopic methods. The bioinspired NPs showed a surface plasmon peak at 370nm; SEM and TEM micrographs illustrated the hexagonal organisation; XRD spectra proved the crystalline phase as hexagonal wurtzite; EDX analysis confirmed the presence of zinc and oxygen atoms; and the zeta potential analysis proved the stability of ZnONPs. In addition, they also demonstrated significant concentration-dependent inhibition of antimicrobial, antioxidant, antiinflammatory, and antidiabetic potential in comparison with the reference drugs. In vitro cytotoxicity and wound healing potential of ZnONPs were examined in L929 cell lines, illustrating that they accelerated the wound healing process by roughly 95.37 ± 1.12% after a 24-h exposure to ZnONPs. The photocatalytic activity of the ZnONPs was examined by degrading the methylene blue dye under solar irradiation.
