This research includes the preparation of Schiff bases from heterocyclic compounds using furfural by the traditional method (sublimation), where mono- and diamine compounds were used. The compounds were diagnosed using FT-IR, 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR, UV-Vis Mass, and SEM to determine the shape of the molecule and whether it is nanoscale. The biological activity that showed moderate to high inhibitory ratios were also evaluated, and measured the molar electrical conductivity of some of them was.

The thermophysical properties of small Solar System bodies are essential to be determined, on which the thermal evolution of small bodies largely depends. The carbonaceous asteroid Ryugu is one of the small undifferentiated bodies formed in the early Solar System. Hayabusa2 explored the asteroid Ryugu and returned the surface samples in 2020 for detailed on-ground investigation, including measurements of thermal properties. Because the available sample amount was limited, this study developed a novel method to measure the thermal diffusivity of small and irregularly shaped samples of about 1 mm in diameter by combining lock-in thermography and periodic heating methods on the microscale. This method enables us to measure the thermal diffusivity of both flat-plate and granular shape samples by selecting the suitable detecting direction of the temperature response. Especially, when the sample has a flat-plate shape, the anisotropic distribution of the in-plane thermal diffusivity can be evaluated. This method was applied to six Ryugu samples, and the detailed anisotropic distribution of the thermal diffusivity was obtained. The measurement results showed that the samples show local thermal anisotropy caused by cracks and voids. The average thermal diffusivity among all samples was (2.8 − 5.8) × 10− 7 m2/s. Based on the density and specific heat of the samples obtained independently, the thermal effusivity was estimated to be 791 − 1253 J/(s1/2m2K), which is defined as the resistance of surface temperature to the change of thermal input. The determined thermal effusivity, often called thermal inertia in planetary science, is larger than the observed value of 225 ± 45 J/(s1/2m2K) of the asteroid Ryugu's surface, obtained from the diurnal temperature change of the rotating asteroid by a thermal infrared camera onboard Hayabuas2. This difference is likely to be attributed to the difference in the analytical scale between the sample and the surface boulders compared with the thermal diffusion length. Consequently, it was found that the present result is more representative of the thermal diffusivity and thermal inertia of individual Ryugu particles.

Hungarian, or "Magyar", is a Finno-Ugric language that is different from the other European languages. Despite existing within an Indo-European environment and experiencing some Latinization (Indo-Europeanization), it has retained its distinct characteristics. Nevertheless, it also has some linguistic features, such as a phonetic structure that carries no specific sounds that cannot be easily uttered by a French, Italian, German, or English speaker, rendering it relatively easier for speakers of some Indo-European languages. On the other hand, Morocco has a multilingual environment, with Standard Arabic and Berber (Amazigh) as official languages, along with French and dialectal Arabic. Thus, the coexistence of these languages allowed for a bilingual representation of place names; an Arabic endonym and a French exonym. Both variants hold an official status and are used in maps and road signs. Therefore, the goal of this study is to record Moroccans' pronunciation of Hungarian place names. It is worth investigating whether such Arabic speakers with French knowledge will have difficulty reading the Hungarian toponyms and what is the reasoning behind such difficulty.

The primary aim of place names is to provide clear direction and reference in order to distinguish geographical entities. The Moroccan linguistic situation allows for a bilingual presentation of place names, with an Arabized version and a French counterpart that differs phonetically. On the other hand, Casablanca has dual naming, a colonial name, and an Arabic variant, which is not simply a translation that happened as a result of Arabization policies introduced after the country's independence. This study relies mainly on questionnaires, in addition to interviews, in an attempt to address the following aspects: The attitude towards the standardization of only one variant, variants and the city's cultural heritage and significance, standardization of only one variant and the accurate representation of the place, dual naming as a reminder of the multiple place histories vs. dual naming as a mere case of the language difference, and Moroccans and the etymology of the variants. The findings indicate that Casablanca shifts from a mere marker of the colonial period to an active maker of the city's heritage. Its meaning is disconnected from its historical anchorage and converted into an instrument of identity and means of historical memory. Moreover, the choice of one variant is perceived as a loss of toponymic identity, which will serve as a hindrance against the population and their relation to their past.

We propose a versatile method for measuring the thermophysical properties of composites by means of lock-in thermography (LIT) technique. The method is based on analyzing the thermal response distribution induced by periodic laser heating, which enables simultaneous high-spatial-resolution mapping of the effective out-of-plane thermal diffusivity, thermal conductivity, and volumetric heat capacity over the surface of the material. We validate the method using a reference material and demonstrate its capability in visualizing the effective properties of laminated carbon fiber reinforced plastic and carbon fiber reinforced thermoplastic with discontinuous fibers. The results showed that the LIT-based approach has high reproducibility and sensitivity, which allows observing the effect of fiber orientations on the effective properties. The proposed method will be useful for thermal research in composites, defect detection, and for investigating component geometric arrangement effects on the thermophysical properties.

Samples of the carbonaceous asteroid Ryugu were brought to Earth by the Hayabusa2 spacecraft. We analyzed 17 Ryugu samples measuring 1 to 8 millimeters. Carbon dioxide–bearing water inclusions are present within a pyrrhotite crystal, indicating that Ryugu’s parent asteroid formed in the outer Solar System. The samples contain low abundances of materials that formed at high temperatures, such as chondrules and calcium- and aluminum-rich inclusions. This study includes preparing one ligand and then complicating them with some metals. The ligand (L3) was prepared by mixing the ligand (L1) with 3-aminophenol, grinding them, and then performing the melting process. Preparation of complexes of cobalt Co(II), nickel Ni(II), copper Cu(II), zinc Zn(II), cadmium Cd(II) with ligand (L3) and 3-aminophenol through reacting metal salts with ligand (L3) and 3-aminophenol and using ethanol as a solvent. The validity of the structures was confirmed by physical and spectroscopic methods of the prepared ligands and complexes, such as electrical conductivity, magnetic sensitivity, melting points, UV-Vis spectrum, infrared (FT-IR), nuclear magnetic resonance spectra of the proton and carbon (1H-NMR), (13C-NMR).

Background: Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a global pandemic caused by a highly infectious respiratory virus (SARS-CoV-2). With all the consequences that threaten the health of the individual and society due to this infection, it has become necessary to have a vaccination that limits the spread of this virus. Objectives: To assess the acceptance of COVID-19 vaccines in Saudi Arabians and to uncover the barriers associated with vaccination. Method: This was a cross-sectional study of 518 subjects, who gave their responses through an online Google form. Data were analyzed using SPSS software version 23. The level of significance was 0.05%. Results: The vaccine acceptance rate was 68.7%; it was significantly more common among people in Makkah city, among those with high income, and those with relatives who had the COVID-19 infection. The majority of those who accepted the vaccine were advised by health care workers (p < 0.05). Sound knowledge, attitude and practice were significantly behind increased acceptance of the vaccination against COVID-19 infection. Health care workers have a significant role in convincing people to accept the vaccine. Web sites and smartphones are important channels to increase the acceptance of the population. Conclusions: About one-third of the population did not accept the vaccine, particularly, those with low income. Increasing the knowledge of the people about the clinical aspects, and health impact of the virus of COVID-19 on the community are important intervention tools to increase the acceptance rate of COVID-19 vaccination among the population.
