Photocatalysis is a multifaceted phenomenon that can be employed for diverse applications, such as waste management and the treatment of water resources. Through a hydrothermal process, a magnetic nanocomposite comprising MoS2 and NiFe2O4 with optical activity was effectively synthesized. The produced photocatalysts were subjected to different methods to investigate the physiochemical properties of the materials. The optical band-gap values of the fabricated nanocomposite were measured to be 1.75 and 1.57 eV accordingly for NiFe2O4 and MoS2/NiFe2O4 which were established by UV–Visible absorption spectrum via Tauc's relation. From the BET study, the surface area of prepared MoS2/NiFe2O4 NCs was achieved to be 71.05 m2 g−1. The photocatalytic efficacy was assessed by observing malachite green degradation in the existence of visible light conditions. The MoS2/NiFe2O4 nanocomposite contains degradation efficiency of 98.28% in 140 min under visible source toward malachite green and demonstrated favorable reusability potential through magnetic separation. This finding indicates that the activity of synthesized nanocomposite is superior to that of isolated MoS2 and NiFe2O4 NPs. A plausible mechanism for photocatalysis was explicated with charge carriers and scavengers of free radicals. Water pollution has recently come to the forefront of people’s minds because of the widespread textile dye contamination. It suffers from a wide variety of harmful chemicals in the textile, cosmetics, food, and paint industries and these are removed by photocatalysis. Photocatalytic degradation is considered an efficient approach for the elimination of toxic pollutants from industrial effluents. In this work, MnO2/g-C3N4 nanocomposite was developed hydrothermally for photocatalytic mineralization of methylene blue (MB) dye. The surface study revealed that MnO2/g-C3N4 shows a greater surface area (97 m2 g−1) attributed to the g-CN nanosheet. The photocatalytic efficiency of MnO2, g-C3N4 & MnO2/g-C3N4 materials was additionally ascertained via the degradation of MB, which was considered to be a model dye. The MnO2, g-C3N4 & MnO2/g-C3N4 display the photocatalytic efficiency of 72.34, 85.81, and 94.32%, respectively. According to the TOC study, the MnO2/g-C3N4 nanocomposite showed a degradation rate of 71.23% over a period of 150 min. The scavenger analysis revealed that charge species (hydroxyl, hole and superoxide anion) play a substantial part in the photodegradation of dyes. The results show that the fabricated nanocomposite shows maximum photocatalytic efficacy compared to pristine material due to the appropriate bandgap along with unique structural features. The metal organic frameworks (MOF) derived spinel materials have attracted much interest owing to better structural behavior. In this study, we synthesized the spinel material via MOF assisted method with hydrothermal strategies to explore the photocatalytic efficiency toward photomineralization of noxious organic pollutant like rhodamine B (RhB) and crystal violet (CV). The morphological and structural characteristics of the photocatalyst were investigated with scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD), indicating the nanorod morphology and tetragonal crystal system, respectively. The Brunauer Emmett Teller (BET) methodology measured the surface area of ZMO (56.45 m3 g−1) that indirectly controls the photocatalytic behavior of the photocatalyst. Moreover, the photocatalytic efficacy of the fabricated photocatalyst is measured with ultra-visible spectroscopy (UV–Vis.) for rhodamine B (RhB) and crystal violet. The prepared spinel shows a 94.25% photocatalytic efficiency toward the mineralization of rhodamine B than crystal violet (CV, 90.52%). The obtained rate constant (k) for RhB and CV are 0.029 and 0.01 min−1, respectively. The scavenger analysis also revealed that photoinduced reactive species such as electrons (e−) and holes (h+) play a substantial role in the degradation of model pollutant. The stability analysis suggests that the ZMO nanorods exhibited excellent stable structural and morphological behavior. Thus, the current studies provide a path toward developing a metal oxide produced from MOFs for the use of photocatalytic removal of a wide range of organic pollutants. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The development of an efficient, cost-effective, and stable visible-light-driven photocatalyst for the photodegradation of organic pollutants is a challenging task. Herein, the synthesis and characterization of a Ag2O–Co3O4 Z-scheme photocatalyst and evaluation of its photocatalytic performance are reported. An aqueous solution of a reactive yellow dye was used as a model organic pollutant. Co3O4 and Ag2O–Co3O4 were synthesized by precipitation and impregnation methods, respectively. Advanced techniques including XRD, DRS-UV-Vis, SEM, TEM, TGA, and XPS were employed for the characterization of the synthesized Ag2O–Co3O4. The prepared materials were tested as a catalyst for the degradation of the reactive yellow dye. It was found that coupling of Ag2O with Co3O4 enhanced the photocatalytic performance from 55 to 100% towards a 50 mL dye solution containing 100 mg L−1 of dye. The rate constant for Ag2O–Co3O4 catalyzed photodegradation of the reactive yellow dye was 2.8 times higher than the rate constant with Co3O4. The dependence of photocatalytic performance on experimental parameters like catalyst dosage, Ag2O content, recycling of the catalyst, and concentration of the dye was also investigated. The as-prepared Ag2O–Co3O4 was found to be an efficient, cost-effective, and stable Z-scheme photocatalyst for the photodegradation of the reactive yellow dye under visible light irradiation. The use of topological descriptors remains a significant approach due to numerous advances in the field of drug design. Descriptors provide numerical representations of a molecule's chemical characteristics when used with QSPR models. The QSPR analysis for bladder medications is the main focus of this study.
