Recently, the education sector has received increased interest in terms of the adoption of Internet of things (IoT) services for learning activities. However, despite this interest, empirical studies on the adoption of IoT services in the smart classroom are limited. Thus, the present study examines students' intention to use IoT services in the smart classroom. Towards this end, an integrated model based on the technology acceptance model (TAM), technology readiness index (TRI), and external factors (enjoyment, compatibility, and self-efficacy) is proposed. A quantitative research design was therefore used to determine the factors that affect students' intention to use IoT services in the smart classroom, using a sample of 230 participants. The findings showed that compatibility, discomfort, enjoyment, and self-efficacy had a significant influence on both perceived ease of use (PEoU) and perceived usefulness (PU). Furthermore, innovativeness had a significant effect on PEoU, and insecurity had a significant impact on PU. The results also revealed that PU had a significant influence on the students' behavioural intention to use. These findings extend the understanding of students' intention to use IoT services in the smart classroom. This study could be beneficial to researchers, educators, and IoT developers. However, it also presents a number of limitations, such as a lack of qualitative methods and the small number of theories applied.

Permanent urban forest reserves are aesthetic assets within cities. Consequently, their aesthetic quality must be continuously preserved and visually assessed. Even though numerous studies have utilized multiple variables to characterize visual aesthetics, they have lacked information on the importance and weightage of each variable, making it very challenging to assess this. Therefore, this study aimed to determine the relative weightage of the visual aesthetic variables for permanent urban forest reserves in Malaysia. We used a converging approach assessment method to determine the ranked preferences for the visual aesthetic variables of permanent urban forest reserves by selecting multiple variables based on public preferences and expert survey assessments of these. In addition, we utilized the converging approach results as a guide for the analytic hierarchy process in order to determine the weights of the visual aesthetic variables. We identified 14 variables, derived from six main variables, as multiple visual aesthetic variables for permanent urban forest reserves based on the content of photos taken by 12 public participants. The expert survey confirmed the validity of the classification of the variables and the importance of their linear sequencing. It was revealed that the greatest weight normalization (W = 10) was achieved from the variables "openness with city view", "uniqueness of water with natural elements", and "openness with water view", while the least weight normalization (W = 1) was obtained from the variables "legibility with natural path", "uniqueness with man-made elements", and "uniqueness with natural elements". Neighborhood accessibility affects a wider range of people, especially the vulnerable groups. The disablement of the built environment imposes limitation for the vulnerable groups to reach facilities and services independently. The built environment can only be effective when it is interconnected and seamless. Research in the past focuses on problem base approach which had little success in eliciting responses from stakeholders for sustainable change in their built environment. This research investigates accessibility experience in the built environment through social process of meaning-making based on positive and constructive interactions. This qualitative research using focus group discussion (FGD) employs an appreciative inquiry (AI) to collect and decode data in four stages; discovery, dream, design, and destiny. The FGD involved stakeholders including vulnerable communities; the elderly, pregnant women, mothers with toddlers, persons with disabilities (PwD), academicians and NGOs. Findings revealed collective priorities related to the accessibility improvements in the external and internal living environment, the need to enforce national disability law, the actualisation blueprint of the desired future living environment. To create an accessible and sustainable neighbourhood in Kuala Lumpur, the study demonstrated how the Appreciative Inquiry approach generates real community needs and voices those rights holistically.
