Abstract Introduction The global shortage of healthcare professionals is a critical concern, with an estimated deficit of 18 million workers by 2030, particularly in low- and middle-income countries. Oman faces challenges with its doctor-to-population ratio falling below the global average. This study examines the factors influencing residency program choices among Omani medical students and interns, with a specific focus on internal medicine. Methods A cross-sectional survey using a validated, context-specific questionnaire was distributed to medical interns and clinical clerkship students at Sultan Qaboos University and the National University.Descriptive statistics and univariate analyses were used to explore demographic patterns and factors influencing specialty choices, including internal medicine. Results Out of 803 distributed surveys, 459 responses were collected, yielding a response rate of 58.8%. The study comprised 459 participants, with 26.1% males and 73.9% females, and an average age of 23.85 years (SD = 1.70). Internal medicine was selected by 19.9% of participants. Key factors influencing the choice of internal medicine included societal respect and a comfortable specialty department atmosphere. Gender differences showed that men prioritized factors such as aptitude for the specialty, attainable lifestyle, and risk of malpractice lawsuits, while women focused on the workplace environment. Role models played an important role in career decisions, with 25.7% of participants identifying a physician role model. Conclusion Internal medicine emerged as a popular specialty among Omani medical students and interns, driven by intellectual stimulation, job security, and work-life balance. Addressing gender-specific influences and expanding mentorship opportunities are essential to optimizing career guidance. The findings also emphasize the need for targeted strategies to address rural healthcare professional shortages. Clinical trial number Not applicable.

Study Design: This was a single-institution, retrospective cohort study. Objective: The objective of this study was to assess a surgical technique for spinal reconstruction after corpectomy, integrating an allograft/autograft within a vertebral body replacement cage linked to spinal rods via pedicle screws. This method aims to enhance biomechanical stability and promote long-term fusion without cage endcaps. Summary of Background data: Recent advancements in spinal surgery feature innovative constructs that improve healing and fusion rates. FDA-approved mesh cages provide enhanced stability and superior fusion with fewer complications. Our approach combines allografts/autografts with vertebral replacements, using a pedicle screw through the cage for significant biomechanical enhancement. Methods: Two patients undergoing cervical and lumbar spinal reconstructions due to different pathologies were selected. The surgical technique involved shaping the allograft/autograft to fit precisely within the cage, extending beyond its ends to facilitate fusion at both ends, and securing the construct to the spinal rods with pedicle screws for added stability. Patient outcomes were assessed based on post-operative stability, fusion rates, and the presence of any complications. Results: Both cases successfully utilized the technique, achieving stabilization and fusion. Improvements were noted in post-operative recovery. There were no instances of cage subsidence, or any significant complications directly related to the novel construct. Conclusions: Our case series highlights a post-corpectomy reconstruction technique involving a mesh cage construct integrated with an autograft/allograft and connected to posterior instrumentation for enhanced stability. This technique was applied successfully in two cases, demonstrating its feasibility, durability, and potential to promote biological integration. Further studies with larger cohorts and extended follow-up periods are necessary to refine the approach for wider clinical use.

Background: Fetal dural venous sinus thrombosis is an uncommon disorder in which a blood clot forms in the developing fetus’s dural venous sinuses. A detailed ultrasound examination, including neurosonography, and color Doppler are usually used to identify it, and fetal brain magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is used to confirm the diagnosis. Although few case reports exist, the incidence of fetal occurrence remains unknown. Case Description: A 25-year-old woman, primigravida, with no comorbidities at 20 weeks and 1 day, underwent a detailed ultrasound followed by MRI. The imaging revealed a triangular extra-axial expansile lesion measuring 1.6cm AP × 3 craniocauded × 2.6cm transverse diameter. - The lesion was located at the torcula, at the confluence of the transverse sinuses, extending towards the posterior aspect of the left transverse sinus. This extension caused flattening of the posterior portion of the cisterna magna and the left posterior aspect of the cerebellum. The size of the intracranial mass increased. Fetal and parental investigations failed to find any underlying cause. The patient had a spontaneous vaginal birth at 38 weeks. A postnatal diagnosis of thrombosis in the sinus was confirmed by MRI and venography. No brain damage or hydrocephalus was noted, and the neurological outcome was normal at 9 months of age. Conclusion: Fetal intracranial thrombosis can result from dural sinus abnormalities. When dural sinus malformation (DSM) is detected in prenatal imaging, timely fetal MRI is recommended to help diagnose dural sinus abnormalities, identify intracranial complications, and determine perinatal plan and management options.

Effective flow line and piping network design depends on the accurate prediction of pressure drop in multiphase flow for horizontal and near horizontal pipes. Since early 1950, several empirical correlations and mechanistic models have been developed to predict pressure drop. All correlations used by the industry, in addition to their applicability limitations, fall short of providing the necessary precision of pressure drop predictions. However, compared to empirical correlations, the recently developed mechanistic models improved pressure drop prediction. To design and construct more dependable and economical surface piping networks and wells, it is still necessary to improve prediction accuracy. This study uses the Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS) to create a model that predicts pressure drop in horizontal and near-horizontal pipelines with greater accuracy and simplicity. Using the ANFIS method, the fuzzy modelling procedure can gather knowledge about a set of data to determine the membership function parameters that will enable the associated fuzzy inference system to track input/output data most effectively. The model was created and tested using field data encompassing various variables. The model was developed using 450 different data sets that were collected from the Asian continent. 113 data sets were used for testing, and a total of 337 data sets were used for training. Trend analysis was carried out during the model development phase prior to the model’s completion. This is performed to make sure the model is stable and to make sure the created model is physically sound and accurately simulates the real physical process. To determine the percentage of error between the predicted value and the actual measured data, statistical analysis was carried out. To compare the performance of the new ANFIS model to earlier empirical correlations and mechanistic models, graphical and statistical techniques were also used. The new model outperformed known correlations and the most recent mechanistic models by a significant margin in producing incredibly accurate pressure drop predictions. The Dukler et al. empirical correlation, Beggs and Brill empirical correlation, Xiao mechanistic model, and Gomez mechanistic model had values of 25.284, 20.940, 30.122, and 20.817, respectively, while the ANFIS model had a value of 13.256 for the lowest average absolute percentage error. Additionally, the Duckler and Beggs & Brill models came in second and third, with values of 0.908 and 0.906, respectively, and the ANFIS model had the highest coefficient of determination at 0.955.

The present study conducted a successful green synthesis of zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO NPs) from the aqueous solution of Salvadora persica leaf extract as capping agent and used for methyl orange dye removal. The morphology, chemical composition, crystallinity, optical property and isothermal behavior of synthesized nanoparticles were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDX), Fourier transform infra-red (FTIR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and UV-visible spectroscopy (UV-Vis). The influencing factors on MO removal such as preparation method, dose, pH, contact time, and dye concentration were examined. The UV-Vis absorption band was found at 365 nm and the XRD analysis confirmed the crystallinity of the ZnO NP and the particle sizes were in the range of 32-68 nm. The FTIR bands confirm the presence of bioactive compounds. SEM images showed the formation of hexagonal and rod-shaped nanoparticles. The results revealed that a maximum methyl orange removal of 68% was obtained with an amount of 0.05 g of ZnO NPs at pH 5. The adsorption process can be well explained by the Langmuir isotherm model. This research demonstrates a green method of preparing various ZnO nanoparticle with a remarkable efficiency towards the removal of methyl orange dye. HIGHLIGHT This study describes, for the first time, a facile green approach for the synthesis of ZnO nanoparticles using an aqueous leaf extract of Salvadora persica for methyl orange removal.;

Mucormycosis is a rare, severe fungal infection mainly affecting immunocompromised individuals. Because of limited data on its epidemiology in Oman, we present this national, multicentric, retrospective review that includes all cases of proven mucormycosis between 2006 and 2022 in Oman. There were 51 cases of mucormycosis reported in Oman. The annual incidence of mucormycosis was 0.38–0.69 cases per million population before COVID-19. During the pandemic, the incidence rose significantly to 1.76 in 2020, 5.31 in 2021, then decreased to 0.87 per million population in 2022. Diabetes was observed in 82.4% (n = 42) of the cases, COVID-19 in 47.1% (n = 24), and other chronic diseases in 72.6%. The use of steroids was reported in 33.3% (n = 17) and many patients (64.7%, n = 33) had multiple risk factors. The overall mortality rate was 41.2% (n = 21) and most deaths occurred within a month of diagnosis. Mortality rate among patients diagnosed with COVID-19 was 58.3% (14/24). Survival analysis showed a statistically significant association between COVID-19 status and patient survival (p = 0.024). Annual incidence of mucormycosis in Oman rose during the pandemic. This study highlights the epidemiological features of mucormycosis and emphasizes the importance of its inclusion in the national notifiable communicable diseases priority list as well as the importance of enhancing diagnostic capacities to detect and improve patient outcomes.

The aim of this study is to explore Omani and Kuwaiti physical education teachers' teaching efficacy level and to determine differences in terms of gender variables. The sample consisted of 164 physical education teachers from Oman and 187 from the State of Kuwait. There were 49.9% male physical education teachers and 59.1% female physical education teachers from both countries. Data were collected through a developed teaching efficacy scale, which was borrowed from the literature, consisting of 5 main categories: content knowledge, pedagogical special knowledge, general teaching, classroom management, and assessment in physical education. Generally, the results revealed that physical education teachers hold a positive and medium level of teaching efficacy. In addition, physical education teachers in the State of Kuwait possessed higher levels than Omani physical education teacher in all dimensions except in the general teaching and classroom management dimensions. Furthermore, the level of teaching efficacy was higher for female physical education teachers compared to their counterparts. Further recommendations for future studies are also suggested.

Background Cardiac amyloidosis, characterized by the deposition of amyloid proteins in the heart tissue, presents in two main types: transthyretin (ATTR) and light-chain (AL) amyloidosis. The hemodynamic response to exercise and the relationship with pulmonary hypertension (PH) in these patients is not well understood. Methods This retrospective study analyzed 100 patients diagnosed with either ATTR or AL amyloidosis. We assessed the prevalence of PH at rest and its induction during exercise stress tests. Hemodynamic parameters were measured to identify differences in the cardiac response to exercise between the two subtypes. Results A higher prevalence of PH was noted in the ATTR group compared to the AL group. Exercise stress tests induced significant PH, particularly in the ATTR subgroup. Subtle yet clinically relevant hemodynamic differences were observed between the amyloidosis subtypes. Conclusions Our findings suggest that the amyloidosis subtype is an important factor in the management of PH. There is a need for tailored clinical approaches to address the distinct pathophysiological mechanisms in ATTR and AL amyloidosis. This study contributes to a better understanding of the hemodynamic changes during exercise in cardiac amyloidosis and underscores the importance of subtype-specific management strategies.

The paper presents a case study focusing on the assessment of the aerothermodynamic and rotordynamic performance to diagnose deposit accumulation on the internals of a centrifugal compressor. The case involves a four-stage gas lift centrifugal compressor powered by a 5.9 MW induction motor and utilizing a fluid coupling to regulate the compressor's rotational speed. The Huntington 4-point method was employed to evaluate the polytropic head and efficiency of the four compressor sections over a 20-month period, with pressure and temperature data sampled every 6 hours. The efficiency model was supported by the GERG-2008 equation of state, used to calculate the necessary thermodynamic properties at intermediate and endpoint states. The aerothermodynamic analysis identified a deterioration in polytropic efficiency in compressor section 3, accompanied by a pressure drop and an increase in discharge temperature. Simultaneously, the rotordynamic response was examined through various vibration plots. Although the increase in the vibration amplitudes was not significant, a notable phase shift was observed. This decline in polytropic efficiency and change in vibration patterns were attributed to severe fouling, which was confirmed during the overhaul of the HP compressor. Root cause investigations revealed the deposit as reactive, leading to the installation of an online washing system. Over a nine-month observation period post-maintenance, the compressor operation was stable with no degradation in its polytropic efficiency.

OverviewTo combat the overwhelming demand for medical services and care during the COVID-19 Pandemic, the Sultanate of Oman launched the COVID-19 Field Hospital in 2020, designed to respond and alleviate the burden on the medical infrastructure. Several studies globally and from the Middle East suggested that frontline healthcare workers (HCW) were at risk of developing markers of psychological distress. It was further understood through research findings that HCW were resilient during times of crisis. However, there is a dearth in studies evaluating the emotional status of frontline HCW posted in the COVID-19 field hospitals in Gulf Countries, including Oman. This study attempts to shed light on the emotional status of HCW that were on the frontlines in the field hospital in the Sultanate of Oman.AimThis study aims to quantify and evaluate the emotional status of HCW in the frontline field hospital by screening for symptoms of depression, anxiety, and sleep quality.MethodThe data was collected by a local private mental healthcare facility as part of digital feedback to design and implement supportive strategies. Data was collected between September 2021 and October 2021 from 121 HCW in the COVID-19 Field hospital in Oman via ‘WhatsApp’.ResultsChi square and binary logistic regression tests were administered to evaluate the data. The participants comprised of 63.6% females and 79.3% were between 30 and 39 years of age. Majority of the participants (65.2%) described themselves as ‘financially unstable’ and possess an average of 7.5 years of work experience. Of the participants 73.6% of the HCW were based solely in the field hospital for 6–9 months at the time of the survey. Majority of the participants denied the presence of emotional distress expressed through depression (92.6%), anxiety (92.6%) and poor quality of sleep (59.5%).ConclusionThe findings of the present study reflect the HCW ability to cope during challenging situations likely owing to a variety of environmental, social and personal protective factors. The findings of this study can translate into further research on identifying and addressing stressors and targeting the enhancement of protective factors to safeguard the well-being of HCW.

Abstract Background The main aim of this study was to assess the validity of the Warwick-Edinburgh Mental Well-being Scale (WEMWBS) and the short version of the Warwick-Edinburgh Mental Well-being Scale (SWEMWBS) and to evaluate the metric properties of both versions by using a sample of undergraduate students from three Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries (Oman, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia). Methods Six hundred ninety undergraduate students (340 M and 350 F; mean age = 21.16 ± 2.44) from Oman, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia (N OM = 238, N QA = 215, N SA = 237), voluntarily participated in this cross-section study. All of them responded to the WEMWBS, Basic Psychological Needs Satisfaction Frustration (BPNSFS), and Beck Depression Inventory (BDI-II). The methodology involved utilizing descriptive statistics to understand the data’s characteristics, internal consistency analysis for reliability, correlation analysis for convergent validity, confirmatory factor analysis to validate the scales, and measurement invariance testing to ensure cross-group comparability. Model fit indices were employed to gauge the goodness of fit. Results The translated Arabic versions of the WEMWBS and SWEMWBS showed good reliability, with Cronbach’s alpha values of 0.867 and 0.772, respectively. The findings of confirmatory factor analysis asserted the one-factor solution to interpret the item variances of the 14-item WEMWBS and 7-item SWEMWBS. The WEMWBS and SWEMWBS also showed significant positive relationships with need satisfaction and negative relationship with need frustration, and depression. Moreover, the SWEMWBS showed partial scalar invariance across genders and countries, while the WEMWBS showed only partial metric invariance across the three countries and partial scalar invariance across genders. Conclusions Our study highlights the appropriateness of both versions of the Warwick-Edinburgh Mental Well-being Scale (WEMWBS) in assessing the psychological well-being of Arab undergraduate students. The employment of these tools is strongly encouraged for the assessment of mental well-being within a comparable adult population.

Background: In this study, we investigate indocyanine green (ICG) dye visualization of the thoracic duct (TD) and conduit perfusion during esophagectomy to reduce anastomotic leak (AL) and chylothorax adverse events (AEs). Methods: Retrospective data of adult patients who underwent esophagectomy for esophageal carcinoma between July 2019 and 2022 were included (n = 105). ICG was delivered intravenously (2 mL, 2.5 mg/mL) to assess conduit perfusion into the small bowel mesentery, inguinal lymph nodes, or foot web spaces for TD visualization using fluorescence imaging. Incidence of TD injury, chylothorax, AL, and AEs were collected. Results: A total of 23 patients received ICG (ICG for TD and perfusion (n = 12) and perfusion only (n = 11)), while 82 patients were controls. TD was visualized in 6 of 12 patients who received ICG for TD. No intraoperative TD injuries or postoperative chylothoraces occurred in these patients. Non-ICG patients had 1 (1.22%) intraoperative TD injury and 10 (12.2%) postoperative chylothoraces (grade I–IIIb). While 10 non-ICG patients (12.2%) developed AL (grade I–IVb), only 2 (8.7%) ICG patients developed AL (grade IIIa). Conclusions: This study demonstrates the utility of ICG fluorescence in intraoperative TD and conduit perfusion assessment for limiting AEs. Standard incorporation of ICG in esophagectomy may help surgeons improve the quality of care in this patient population.

The study presents an experimental analysis of a novel mini channels-based Photovoltaic/Thermal (PV/T) panel with nanofluid flow. The design consists of a PV plate attached to an aluminum substrate absorber plate having minichannels grooved on it to act as a solar collector and cooling mechanism for PV. The proposed design was tested for thermal and electrical efficiencies under the working fluids of water, Al2O3, and SiO2 nanofluids at 0.1% and 0.2% concentrations in water and at a flow rate of 0.005 l/s to 0.045 l/s. The experiments were carried out outdoors in a real environment and the measurements were taken for PV surface and fluid temperatures, incidence solar flux, electrical voltage, and current produced. The PV and PV/T performance was compared, and a noticeable enhancement in electrical efficiency was observed with the proposed design as compared to the bare PV module, and an appreciable augmentation in thermal efficiency was noticed when nanofluids were applied. The maximum electrical and thermal efficiencies of PV/T with 0.2% Al2O3 nanofluid were 19.1% and 73.4%, respectively; whereas for bare PV panels, the electrical efficiency was 18.7%. The Al2O3 nanofluid at 0.2% exhibited more than a 10% increase in thermal efficiency compared to water as a working fluid in PV/T.

Objectives: To evaluate the prevalence of risk for venous thromboembolism (VTE) and the proportion of at-risk patients who receive appropriate thromboprophylaxis among inpatients in acute hospital care settings in Oman. A related objective was to evaluate the type and time of initiation of VTE prophylaxis. Methods: This multicenter, cross-sectional study was conducted in three tertiary hospitals in Oman. The study included acutely ill medical and surgical inpatients admitted from August to September 2022. VTE risk assessment and prophylaxis were assessed based on the 2012 recommendations of the American College of Chest Physicians (ACCP). Results: A total of 384 patients were enrolled, 240 were medical patients and 144 were surgical patients. As per the ACCP criteria, 179 (74.6%) of medical and 92 (63.9%) of surgical patients were at risk for VTE and required prophylaxis. Appropriate prophylaxis was received by 142 (79.3%) at-risk medical and 70 (76.1%) at-risk surgical patients. In cases where pharmacological prophylaxis was contraindicated, mechanical prophylaxis was markedly underused. For medical patients, the median day of initiating VTE prophylaxis was day one of admission. For surgical patients, the median day of initiating VTE prophylaxis was postoperative day one. Conclusions: The majority of hospitalized patients in Oman are at risk of VTE. However, a significant minority of patients do not receive the required pharmacological or mechanical prophylaxis. We recommend the development of a national VTE risk assessment and guiding tool with a facility for monitoring compliance.

Objectives: We sought to define the prevalence of isocitrate dehydrogenase (IDH) mutations, evaluate the clinicopathologic impact of IDH mutations, assess the effect of IDH mutations on the response to the currently offered treatment for acute myeloid leukemia (AML) cases, and determine the impact of other common concurrent mutations with IDH. Methods: A single-center retrospective cohort study was conducted at Sultan Qaboos University Hospital (SQUH) from October 2009 to October 2019. We included all Omani patients (pediatric and adult) treated at SQUH with the standard therapy, for whom DNA extraction was performed at diagnosis. The target mutations in both IDH1 and IDH2 genes were screened using the direct polymerase chain reaction product sequencing method. Statistical analysis was conducted using SPSS software. Survival differences were estimated using the log-rank test. Continuous variables were presented as median (IQRs), while categorical variables were presented as frequency. Results: A total of 61 patients treated, for whom DNA extraction was performed at diagnosis were evaluated. The median age was 40 (range = 25.5–65.5). The prevalence of IDH1 R132, IDH2 R140, and IDH2 R172 mutations among the study group was 6.6%, 3.3%, and 1.6%, respectively. Clinicopathologic characteristics associated with IDH mutations at diagnosis included older age, lower white blood cell count, higher median platelet counts, normal karyotype AML, and cytogenetics intermediate-risk group. The overall survival (OS) in patients harboring IDH mutations was poor, with a median OS of nine months. This analysis confirms that the response rate and OS for both IDH-mutated and IDH wild-type AML patients were comparable. This will provide contemporary data to be used for comparison with the results of novel investigational (e.g., selective IDH inhibitor) strategies. Conclusions: The current study results were consistent with the other international studies of IDH mutations in AML and demonstrate the poor prognosis associated with IDH mutations. Clinicopathologic features associated with IDH mutations included older age, lower white blood cell count, higher median platelet counts, normal karyotype AML, and cytogenetics intermediate-risk group.

Objectives To externally validate a recently developed cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk model for Omanis with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM).Design Retrospective cohort study.Setting Nine primary care centres in Muscat Governorate, Oman.Participants A total of 809 male and female adult Omani patients with T2DM free of CVD at baseline were selected using a systematic random sampling strategy.Outcome measures Data regarding CVD risk factors and outcomes were collected from the patients’ electronic medical records between 29 August 2020 and 2 May 2021. The ability of the model to discriminate CVD risk was assessed by calculating the area under the curve (AUC) of the receiver-operating characteristic curve. Calibration of the model was evaluated using a Hosmer-Lemeshow χ2 test and the Brier score.Results The incidence of CVD events over the 5-year follow-up period was 4.6%, with myocardial infarction being most frequent (48.6%), followed by peripheral arterial disease (27%) and non-fatal stroke (21.6%). A cut-off risk value of 11.8% demonstrated good sensitivity (67.6%) and specificity (66.5%). The area under the curve (AUC) was 0.7 (95% CI 0.60 to 0.78) and the Brier score was 0.01. However, the overall mean predicted risk was greater than the overall observed risk (11.8% vs 4.6%) and the calibration graph showed a relatively significant difference between predicted and observed risk levels in different subgroups.Conclusions Although the model slightly overestimated the CVD risk, it demonstrated good discrimination. Recalibration of the model is required, after which it has the potential to be applied to patients presenting to diabetic care centres elsewhere in Oman.

Introduction: Diabetes mellitus is a chronic disease with an increasing global prevalence. The condition has several oral health implications, with oral health in turn affecting diabetes control. People with diabetes are at higher risk of oral health problems, including periodontal disease, dental caries, and candidiasis; in particular, there appears to be a two-way relationship between periodontitis and blood glucose control. While previous research has indicated that diabetics have poor awareness of oral health, there is a gap in the literature from the Sultanate of Oman. This study aimed to determine oral health knowledge, attitudes, and practices among Omani diabetics. Materials and Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted using a convenience sample of 400 adult Omani diabetics who attended the outpatient clinic of the National Diabetes and Endocrine Center, Oman, in the period between May 2019 and May 2020. A self-administered, Arabic language questionnaire to assess oral health knowledge, attitudes, and practices was developed and validated. Mean scores were calculated to determine overall levels of oral health knowledge, attitudes, and practice. Ethical approval was obtained from the Center of Studies and Research of the national Ministry of Health. Results: A total of 136 (34.0%) male and 264 (66.0%) female Omani adult diabetics participated in the study. The majority of participants (76.8%) demonstrated poor knowledge of oral health, especially with regards to complications like gingivitis (32.4%), dental caries (27.3%), halitosis (27.1%), and gingival abscesses (21.5%). Moreover, most (76.6%) were unaware that oral diseases affected glycated hemoglobin levels. In terms of practices, more than half (54.74.8%) routinely brushed their teeth twice a day. However, only 14.6% and 12.6% regularly flossed and used mouthwash, respectively. With regards to attitudes, 0.5%, 23.8%, and 75.8% of the participants demonstrated poor, moderate, and good attitudes toward oral health, respectively. Smokers more frequently demonstrated poor attitudes compared to nonsmokers (6.3% vs. 1.6%). Conclusion: Omani adults with diabetes mellitus demonstrated poor to moderate levels of oral health knowledge. Various studies conducted elsewhere around the world have similarly shown that diabetics have limited knowledge and awareness of oral health. Oral self-care behaviors are imperative to minimize the risk of oral health complications associated with diabetes. Previous researchers have shown that education is an effective method of reducing the incidence and burden of diabetes-related oral health complications. Thus, additional multidisciplinary initiatives are needed to raise awareness of good oral hygiene practices among diabetics in Oman.
