The pumpkin is scientifically known as Cucurbita pepo and it belongs to the Cucurbitaceae family. Through this research, we took this plant for its nutritional and medicinal importance, so this plant, which is famous for its cultivation in central and southern Iraq, was taken. The research samples were collected from Al-Diwaniyah Governorate, specifically from the Sumer region, which is an agricultural area and also grows wild in the same region. It was studied as a Morphology, classification and chemical components present in its seeds as well as the medicinal importance of the plant and its many medicinal uses. Also, we studied the historical importance of this plant for the Arab and Muslims people. Where we focused in this research on the components of the seeds and the importance of each component, as it was found that the seeds of this plant contain fatty acids (more than five types of fatty acids), as well as contain phenolic compounds.
