Visually impaired individuals face significant challenges in many areas of their daily lives, such as accessing environmental information, social interaction, and safety. This article aims to enhance the independence of visually impaired individuals and facilitate their daily lives through an artificial intelligence-supported image and sound recognition system. The developed prototype consists of glasses equipped with a Raspberry Pi 4 microprocessor, integrated headphones, touch controls, and a robust battery management system. Its electronic schematic includes the integration of the camera and the microprocessor. The artificial intelligence algorithms developed successfully perform tasks such as object recognition, text reading, and face recognition. A visual question answering (VQA) model was utilized in the glasses to enable visually impaired individuals to communicate more effectively with their surroundings. Following a demonstration conducted with visually impaired individuals, the usability and effectiveness of the prototype were evaluated, and improvements were made based on user feedback. The accuracy of the algorithms was tested, resulting in a prototype with a 78% accuracy score, which was close to the 82% accuracy score of GPT-4. Additionally, tests conducted with 20 users indicated an 85% user satisfaction rate. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Morphea is a rare autoimmune disease that often affects skin and subcutaneous tissues. The aim of this study was to determine the association between patient demographic parameters, lesion site, clinical subtype of morphea, and histological findings. Between 2016 and 2022, we investigated 78 patients with morphea at the Department of Pathology, Prof. Dr. Cemil Taşcıoğlu City Hospital in Turkey. Case-specific hematoxylin and eosin stain slides were obtained from the pathology archive and assessed blindly by two pathologists. Flattening of rete ridges, location of inflammatory infiltrate, grade of inflammatory infiltrate, presence of plasma cells, presence of eosinophils, homogenization of dermal collagen, decrease of skin appendages, basal pigmentation and melanin incontinence were evaluated. Statistical analyses were performed using SPSS Statistics v.20 (IBM, Armonk, NY, USA). The most common clinical presentation was plaque type (87.5%), while histopathological findings included homogenization of dermal collagen (100%) and decrease of skin appendages (98.7%). Flattening of the rete ridges was observed in 46.2% of patients. Severity of the inflammatory infiltrate was found to be higher in these patients (p=0.028). Basal pigmentation was observed in 59% of patients. Line sign was more common in lower extremity lesions among all localizations (p=0.015). The histopathologic features of morphea are variable and confusing. Particularly, in cases with collagen homogenization, morphea should be considered in differential diagnosis with clinical correlation. In addition, the line sign could be helpful for identifying lesions located in the lower extremities. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background. Dermatopathic lymphadenopathy is a well-defined histopathological entity with an underestimated prevalence in the general population. Objective. The present study was conducted to analyze the characteristics of histologically diagnosed cases of dermatopathic lymphadenopathy at our unit. We also aimed to investigate any association between the clinical features of the patients and the histological findings. Methods. A total of 39 lymph node samples from 39 patients diagnosed with dermatopathic lymphadenopathy were included in this prospective cohort study. Results. Thirty-four (87%) patients had a dermatological disorder. The presence of paracortical eosinophils were significantly higher in patients with dermatological disorders (P =.001), while the presence of dilated sinuses was significantly more common in patients without a dermatological disorder (P =.035). The presence of dilated sinuses and medullary histiocytes were significantly more common in patients with lower body surface area involvement of the disease compared to the ones with a higher body surface area (P =.003, P =.034; respectively). Conclusion. Most of the patients included in the study had one of a broad spectrum of undiagnosed dermatological disorders. The clinical significance of the relation between histological and clinical findings in dermatopathic lymphadenopathy remains to be explained. Dermatopathic lymphadenopathy should always be considered in differential diagnoses of patients with persistent lymph node enlargement even when absolute dermatological disorders are not present. Since various skin disorders may be the cause of lymphadenopathy, performing a full-body examination before lymph node excision might prevent unneccessary procedures. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

As a result of the rapidly growing population and the developing industry, energy resources are becoming exhausted and therefore it is becoming increasingly necessary to find alternative energy sources. An alternative fuel must be technically feasible, economical, environmentally friendly. One of the alternative fuels is biodiesel. Biodiesel is an alternative, non-toxic, biodegradable and renewable fuel obtained from renewable energy sources. Vegetable oils from oilseed crops such as biodiesel, rapeseed (canola), sunflower, soybean, safflower, animal fats, short chain alcoholic waste in the presence of catalyst can be obtained from home frying oils. Biodiesel does not contain oil; but it can be used as a fuel by mixing it with pure or any oil based diesel. In other words, biodiesel are mono alkyl esters obtained by reaction of vegetable fatty acid esters under certain conditions with simple alcohols such as methanol or ethanol. The types of vegetable oil used as a source of raw materials in biodiesel production are very important. Because the types and ratios of the fatty acids in the oil used indicate the fuel quality of the produced biodiesel. Biodiesel is produced by dilution, microemulsion, pyrolysis and transesterification. In addition, there are studies to treat the wastewater produced during biodiesel production. In this study, after giving general information about biodiesel and its sources, production methods are discussed in detail. A sample study on the treatment of wastewater generated during the production of biodiesel is also included. Further studies on treatment are needed.

Dermatofibromas (DF) are common benign skin lesions that commonly affect female adults. They can be easily diagnosed in most cases. However, in some cases, their clinical and dermoscopical appearance can resemble other lesions, such as dysplastic nevi, melanomas, and other skin tumors. Here, we report a case of pigmented DF mimicking melanoma on the right arm of an 11-year-old girl. DFs are common lesions in daily dermatology practice, however in this case the young age of the patient, the atypical melanoma-like dermoscopic features, and the rapid growth of the lesion brought on the suspicion of malignant melanoma. The case was presented to emphasize that pigmented DFs must be considered in the differential diagnoses of pigmented lesions in children; which will prevent unnecessary surgical procedures.

This study aims to determine seroprevalence of celiac disease (CD) in patients with presumed diarrhea predominant irritable boweldisease (IBS-D).Methods A total of 100 patients with presumed IBS-D (mean(SD) age: 42.8(16.8) years, 64.0% were females) were included in this crosssectional single-centre study. Data on patient demographics, smoking status, co-morbid psychiatric disorders and blood biochemistrywere recorded. Seroprevalence of CD specific anti-tissue transglutaminase (anti-tTG) antibodies (anti-tTG IgA and anti-tTG IgG) andendomysial (EMA) antibody were determined, while demographic characteristics and laboratory findings were compared between CDseronegative and seropositive patients. Results Anti-tTG IgG antibody was positive in 17.0% of patients, as followed by anti-tTG IgA antibody positivity in 7.0% and anti-EMA antibodypositivity in 12.0% of patients. Positive findings for at least one antibody was noted in 17(17.0%) patients including positivity for singleantibody in 3(3.0%) patients, two antibodies in 9(9.0%) patients and three antibodies in 5 (5.0%) patients. No difference was notedbetween seropositive and seronegative patients in terms of gender, active smoking, co-morbid psychiatric disorder and laboratoryfindings. Conclusion In conclusion, our findings revealed that non-negligible percentage of patients with suspected IBS-D had positive serological findingsfor CD and thereby emphasize that “test and treat” strategy for CD in patients with presumed IBS-D may be worthwhile.

Analizedilen kadına yönelik tüketim markaları Loreal Paris, Maybelline New York, Mavi Jeans,Elidor, Boyner, Nivea, Garnier, Koton, Signal, Colgate, Eyüp Sabri Tuncer, Emotion, Penti,Avon ve Blendax markalarıdır. Analiz yöntemi olarak içerik analizi yöntemi kullanılmış,ölçülen kategorilerin sonucunda elde edilen veriler betimsel istatistik-yüzde/oransal olaraktablolar halinde ifade edilmiştir.ABSTRACTAdvertising due to the nature of that service to commercial interests of capitalismtoday has an important place in consumption. - Abstract
Connective tissue nevi (CTN) are dermal hamartomas characterized by an imbalance in the amount and distribution of the normal components of the extracellular dermal matrix, specifically collagen, elastin, and/or proteoglicans. The term "CTN" was first mentioned by Lewandowsky in 1921 (1), although it was not accepted until the review by Gutmann in 1926 (2). Classification of CTN was established by Uitto et al. (3) in 1980 according to clinical, genetic, and histopathological features. But this classification did not include zosteriform nevi. The more recent Pierard and Lapiere (4) classification seems to be a more suitable method of classification for zosteriform nevi. They classified CTN into two groups: (1) reticular and (2) adventitial. Zosteriform nevus is a rare form of reticular CTN that is diagnosed according to its clinical distribution. Here we report a collagen nevus in an infant that followed a zosteriform pattern. An 8-month-old girl presented with flesh-colored plaques on the right buttock in a zosteriform distribution, which had been present since birth. The plaques appeared to be well-defined cobblestone-like nodules on palpation (Figure 1). Systemic examination, laboratory tests and radiologic examinations did not reveal any abnormalities. The patient had no associated disease and no history of similar skin findings among family members. A skin punch biopsy was performed from one of the nodules. The histopathologic examination showed significantly increased density of thickened collagen fibers in the lower dermis and subcutaneous tissue. Verhoeff-van Gieson and orcein stains demonstrated the presence of dense collagen fibers with diminished elastic fibers (Figure 2). Four subtypes of collagen tissue nevus have been described: (I) familial cutaneous collagenoma, (II) shagreen patches in tuberous sclerosis, (III) eruptive collagenoma, (IV) and isolated collagenoma (5). Isolated collagenoma with lack of family history is fairly rare. It is sporadic, localized to only one body region, and not associated with any disease. In confluent plaques it has the appearance of "peau de chagrin" or a cobblestone-like pattern. The reported presentations include paving stone nevi, plantar fibromatosis, papulolinear lesions, and zosteriform lesions (5). Zosteriform distribution is an extremely rare variety of connective tissue nevus. Steiner (6) was the first to describe the condition in 1944, in a 5-year-old girl who presented with nevi in a zosteriform distribution. The histopathology of the lesion revealed an abnormality in both collagen and elastin fibers. Only 11 other cases have been reported as zosteriform CTN in dermatological literature. To the best of our knowledge, only 3 collagen nevi in a zosteriform distribution have been previously described in the literature. De et al. (7) described the first case in a 25-year-old man presenting a collagen tissue nevus with zosteriform distribution located over the lower back. Subsequently, Kumari et al. (8) described the second case in a 20-year-old man presenting a large, flesh-colored, well-defined plaque in a zosteriform distribution on his right buttock since birth. Topal et al. (9) reported another case of a 10-year-old boy with a zosteriform collagen tissue nevus on his right arm as sclerotic papules and plaques. Clinically, zosteriform CTN has similar morphology and distribution to nevus lipomatosus superficialis (NLS) or segmental neurofibromatosis. The latter differential possibility needs to be excluded due to its association with gliomas. The histopathologic findings of NLS make it easy to differentiate from zosteriform CTN. The peculiar finding of ectopic fat in the dermis is considered to be almost pathognomonic of NLS (10). In conclusion, the zosteriform distribution of CTN is very rare, especially in the variety with collagen predominance. As the lesion remains asymptomatic, with only cosmetic effects, the condition needs no specific treatment. The present case is a rare type of isolated collagenoma with zosteriform distribution presenting over the right buttock with no associated abnormalities and family history.
