With the rapid growth of the aging world population, proper health care has become a prior issue in all countries; especially during the life altering COVID – 19 pandemics. While everything is getting digitized, the ease in providing medicinal services in an online basis is still a factor in today’s era. Current medical system is expanding by leaps and bounds in the last couple of decades for their considerable aim towards wireless and e-health monitoring systems providing remote monitoring of patients. But the tools used to deal with health conditions are tedious to maintain and limited to specific number of parameters. Incorporating patient’s data into a database and accessing the system in the form of a mobile application with proper medical assurance and diagnosis will demonstrate that this proposed system will be efficient to provide the patient a proper consultation from anywhere. It reduces the number of hospitals visits, saves time, and is convenient for both physician and patient.

Background: Outbreak of novel corona virus has led World Health Organization (WHO) to come up with healthcare guidelines which includes wearing of N95 mask. The aim of this study was to evaluate whether blood oxygen saturation level is affected by wearing of N95 mask for the duration of 4 hours. Materials and Methods: A total of 90 exam going students were included in this study, who were instructed to wear N95 mask. Blood oxygen saturation level (SpO2) was checked both before and after wearing of N95 mask for a period of 4 hours. Results: It was observed that, before wearing N95 mask at 9 am, SpO2 values were 96.64±0.196 while at 1 pm after removing N95 mask, the saturation values were 95.68±0.235 (p=0.000) among all the students. Background-This study was aimed to compare and evaluate the benefits of adjunctive use of lycopene and vitamin E in the non-surgical treatment of periodontal diseases and effect of this treatment on the periodontal microflora. Methodology-Systemically healthy 30 chronic periodontitis patients were included in the study. periodontal examination was performed and BANA test score were obtained. patients were randomly divided into group-I, group-II and group-III. scaling and root planing was performed for all three groups. group-II and group-III were supplimented with lycopene (Lycostar) and Vit E(Evion 400mg)respectively for 1 month. PI, BOP, PPD, CAL and BANA test score were re-evaluated after 1 month. Result-Periodontal parameters and BANA test score were significantly reduced in both group-II and group-III as compared to group-I. Conclusion-Systemic administration of antioxidants improved periodontal healing and significantly reduced microbial load and can be used as an adjunct to non-surgical periodontal therapy.

Periodontal surgical procedures like excision of overgrowth and harvesting graft from palate in free gingival graft procedures can cause excessive intraoperative bleeding. Uncontrolled bleeding obscures the visibility of the site for optimal debridement thus increasing the risk for recurrence. It also affects healing of the site, extends the duration of surgery and increases stress for the patient. Aim: To evaluate efficacy of a chitosan based hemostatic agent in achieving hemostasis in various periodontal surgeries. Material and Method: 13 patients indicated for periodontal surgery were selected. Intraoperative bleeding was controlled with chitosan sponge. Duration of hemostasis was recorded. Each patient was evaluated for all the parameters at 24 hrs. and on 7th day post-surgery. Results: The surgical sites treated with chitosan sponge showed mean hemostasis time of 3min 04 +/-15 seconds. Soft tissue healing showed a mean score of 3.61 +/-3 with no patient discomfort. Conclusions: Chitosan sponge reduces intra-operative bleeding time, thus emerging as a novel hemostat.

Image Classification is the task of assigning an input image to a label from a set of fixed labels. This is one of the main problems in computer vision that have many practical applications. For any classification problem, the main aim is to achieve better classification accuracy. If the classification accuracy is less, then misclassification happens and this will leads to different kinds of problems. Many of the classification models only consider the existing class instances. When a new class instance arrives the classification model not detect it properly. They actually misclassified the new class instance into an existing class instance. The proposed method therefore shows a better accurate classification and new class detection model for images. Also if needed, then the new class can be added with the model to classify correctly in the future. Recent studies show that Convolutional Neural Network(CNN) can be effectively used for image classification tasks. So here creating this better accurate classification and new class detection model based on CNN. The detection of a new class is done by looking into the trend of the softmax prediction score of class labels. In this work, the model is built for CIFAR10 image dataset. This dataset is actually a complex dataset, so creating a model for this dataset can consider as a base and extended for the classification and new class detection in other images in different applications.

The peripheral giant cell granuloma (PGCG) is a benign oral lesion occurring on the gingiva and alveolar ridge. It is the most common oral lesion and occurs at an average age of 30 years. The upsurge in the levels of estrogen and progesterone in pregnancy leads to a plethora of changes in various parts of human body, including the oral cavity. In the oral cavity, changes are commonly seen on the gingiva. These include pyogenic granuloma, PGCG and also peripheral ossifying fibroma, etc., The etiology of PGCG in our case might be related to hormonal alterations during the gestation period.

In the current scenario where the world is moving towards modernization and automation, personal cars have become an integral part of people’s lives. This project focuses on improving a car from ordinary to smart by constantly monitoring parameters such as pressure of the car tyre and fuel level. The prototype also communicates to the owner of the car through SMS alerts and audio output to intimate reduced fuel levels, nearby gas stations and low car tyre pressure. This project is also incorporated with features like rain sensing wipers and theft alert at reduced costs. In addition to these, in situations where the owner loses his car keys or the keys are accidentally locked inside the car, the owner can unlock the car using his smart phone through a Bluetooth module and the output is shown using a gear motor. Raspberry Pi controller coordinates with different sensors like rain drop sensor, water level sensor, pressure sensor and vibration sensor to facilitate the features included in this project. To enhance the security of the car, a vibration sensor is included in the prototype and abnormal vibrations from the car door will be recorded as a robbery or a force open and alert is sent to the owner through a GSM module as SMS alert.

In mobile cloud computing, dividing the computations between the mobile devices and the cloud is very significant and Essential. In the existing work , these divisions of computations exists for a single user only . That is, it focuses on to optimize the time of the applications for that particular user only. Such existing works makes an assumption that there are enough resources always available on the cloud for the user to make the computations of the tasks which are offloaded on to the cloud. But this might not be an ideal approach when we consider several users who are trying to offload their tasks on to the cloud. There may arise situations where the resources on the cloud may not be available for the user’s computation to be executed, and hence the user is forced to wait until the resource gets available and only after that the task gets executed. And this results in scheduling latency of the application. The Scheduling latency which when not considered, results in the Performance deprivation. Hence we propose a method in this paper known as Multiple user Partitioning of computations Problem (MPCP). The MPCP approach emphasizes on the divisions of computations of multiple user’s and scheduling the computations that are offloaded on to the resources that are present in the cloud. Unlike the existing works which focuses to minimize the completion time of application for single user, our work aims to minimize the average completion time for all the users that take the services of the cloud.

Leiomyoma is a smooth muscle tumor which rarely turns into malignancy. This is an unusual case report which presents leiomyoma on gingiva with osseous involvement. This case highlights the importance of histopathological examination for the proper diagnosis of any gingival growth. A 28-year-old female patient reported with localized gingival enlargement. The surgical excision was conducted and excised tissue was sent for histopathological examination. On the basis of clinical and histopathological examination, the diagnosis of leiomyoma was made. Leiomyoma reported low recurrence rate in previous literature. However, this lesion recurred within 15 days. After recurrence, the patient was referred to the oncology center for further evaluation and treatment.

Context: Ultrasonic scaling is a routinely performed procedure in dental practice. During ultrasonic scaling, sensitivity of teeth is a common occurrence. The sensitivity of teeth causes discomfort and pain to many patients. The potassium nitrate is an antihypersensitivity agent used effectively in dentifrices. Aims: The aim of the study is to evaluate the efficacy of 5% potassium nitrate gel application on the reduction of sensitivity during ultrasonic scaling. Settings and Design: This study is a randomized controlled trial with a split-mouth design. A total of 100 patients were recruited in the study after informed consent. Subjects and Methods: Mandibular anterior teeth were selected as the area for study. About 5% potassium nitrate gel was applied to the left or right side of the teeth. After 5 min, ultrasonic scaling was performed for both test and control sides. Visual analog scale (VAS) and patient satisfaction were recorded for both the groups. Statistical Analysis Used: An unpaired t-test was used to analyze the mean VAS scores with the area treated with or without application of 5% potassium gel during ultrasonic scaling. Chi-square test was used to analyze the satisfaction level with the test and control group. Results: The mean VAS scores and patient satisfaction for the test group were (P < 0.001) statistically significant as compared to the control group. Conclusions: Potassium nitrate gel can be effectively used before ultrasonic scaling to reduce sensitivity.

Objective: The purpose of this study was to determine the level of workload among pharmacy academicians working in public and private sector universities in India. The study also aimed to assess the satisfaction of academicians towards their workload. Materials and Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted for a period of 2 months among pharmacy academicians in Karnataka state of Southern India. Convenience sampling was used to select a sample and was contacted via email and/or social networking sites. Questionnaire designed by thorough review literature was used as a tool to collect data on workload (teaching, research, extracurricular services) and satisfaction. Results: Of 214 participants, 95 returned the filled questionnaire giving the response rate of 44.39%. Private sector academicians had more load of teaching (p=0.046) and they appeared to be less involved in research activities (p=0.046) as compared to public sector academicians. More than half of the respondents (57.9%) were satisfied with their workload with Assistant Professors were least satisfied as compared to Professors (p=0.01). Conclusion: Overall, private sector academicians are more burdened by teaching load and also are less satisfied of their workload. Revision of private universities policies may aid in addressing this issue.

Generalized gingival enlargement in children interferes with the eruption of teeth. It may lead to difficulty in mastication and phonetics. Very few cases of generalized gingival enlargement associated with eruption of teeth in as young as 10 year old child had been reported in literature. The pathphysiology for occurrence of gingival enlargement with eruption of teeth is not clearly established. Generalized gingival enlargement was present in a 10 year old girl since the eruption of permanent teeth. The gingival biopsy was done followed by full mouth gingivectomy of maxillary and mandibular arch. The histopathological picture showed hyperplastic tissue. The treatment of gingival enlargement at early stage leads to exposure of teeth. The treatment resulted in improvement in mastication and establishing the aesthetic smile of the 10 year old child. This case represents systematic evaluation of gingival enlargement followed by gingival biopsy and gingivectomy. The management of gingival enlargement in children is challenging and requires systematic follow-up.

Aims: The aim of the present study was to evaluate the accuracy of Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) measurements of alveolar bone defects caused due to periodontal disease, by comparing it with actual surgical measurements which is the gold standard. Materials and Methods: Hundred periodontal bone defects in fifteen patients suffering from periodontitis and scheduled for flap surgery were included in the study. On the day of surgery prior to anesthesia, CBCT of the quadrant to be operated was taken. After reflection of the flap, clinical measurements of periodontal defect were made using a reamer and digital vernier caliper. The measurements taken during surgery were then compared to the measurements done with CBCT and subjected to statistical analysis using the Pearson's correlation test. Results: Overall there was a very high correlation of 0.988 between the surgical and CBCT measurements. In case of type of defects the correlation was higher in horizontal defects as compared to vertical defects. Conclusions: CBCT is highly accurate in measurement of periodontal defects and proves to be a very useful tool in periodontal diagnosis and treatment assessment.

Objective: This study aimed to assess the knowledge, awareness, and perception of contraception among senior pharmacy students of a public sector university in Malaysia. Methods: A cross-sectional, questionnaire-based study was conducted among senior pharmacy students. The pretested questionnaire was used to collect data from the participants over the period of 1-month. The questionnaire was divided into four sections, for gathering the information about students′ demographic data, and their knowledge, attitudes, and perception toward contraception. Data were statistically analyzed using SPSS version 20. Findings: The response rate was 68.6%. The results showed that the contraceptive knowledge was comparatively higher in year four students (P < 0.001), married respondents (P < 0.001) and those taking elective courses (P = 0.022) as compared to their respective counterparts. Majority of the students were well aware and had a positive perception about contraception. Conclusion: Overall findings reflect that the majority of the students had good knowledge, perception, and awareness about contraception. The study recommends future studies to be conducted covering different pharmacy schools across the country to further establish the results.
