Abstract

Aim: In this study we have tried to show the effects of a singlehigh-dose ınjection of vitamin d on healing of condylar fractures in osteoporotic rats.Materials and method: This study included sixteen femalewistar rats. All rats were overiectomized. Osteoporotic ratswere randomly divided into two groups of eight animals/group. Group D animals received a single high dose of vitamin D (50.000 IU/kg) intraperitoneally and group C (control)animals received saline (0.05 mL) intraperitoneally. All injections were given immediately after condylar fracture. All ratswere euthanized after 28 days, examined histopathologicaland immunohistochemical.Results: Histopathological and immunohistochemical evaluations were done. Histopathological scores between groupD and C were found statistically significant. TGF?1 and osteopentin levels in group D were found higher than group C.Conclusion: We have determined that a single high-dose injection of vitamin D given immediately after surgery increasedTGF? and osteopontin levels and enhanced new bone formation at condylar fractures of osteoporotic rats. Amaç: Bu çalışmada, osteoporotik sıçanlarda kondiler kırıkların iyileşmesinde tek yüksek doz verilen D vitamininin etkilerini göstermeye çalıştık.Gereç ve Yöntem: Bu çalışmada 16 dişi wistar sıçanı kullanıldı. Tüm sıçanlara overiektomi uygulandı. Osteoporotik sıçanlar rastgele her grupta sekiz hayvan olacak şekilde iki grubaayrıldı. Grup D hayvanlarına intraperitoneal olarak tek doz Dvitamini (50,000 IU / kg) verildi ve grup C (kontrol) hayvanlaraintraperitoneal olarak serum fizyolojik (0,05 mL) verildi. Tümenjeksiyonlar, kondiler kırıktan hemen sonra yapıldı. Bütünsıçanlar 28 gün sonra sakrifiye edildi, Histopatolojik ve immünohistokimyasal olarak incelendi.Bulgular: Histopatolojik ve immünohistokimyasal değerlendirmeler yapıldı. D ve C grubu arasındaki histopatolojik verileristatistiksel olarak anlamlı bulundu. Grup D' de TGF?1 ve osteopentin düzeyleri C grubundan daha yüksek bulundu.Sonuç: Cerrahi müdahaleden hemen sonra verilen tek yüksek doz D vitamini enjeksiyonunun, osteoporotik sıçanlarınkondiler kırıklarında TGF? ve osteopontin seviyelerini ve yenikemik oluşumunu arttırdığını tespit ettik.

3. Two Impacted Central Teeth Cases Treated With Two Different Techniques

Abstract

The objective of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of two different techniques for the eruption of impacted central incisors. Two male patients first 11 years old; second 23 years old were treated with fixed orthodontic mechanics to erupt the patient’s central incisors. After leveling and aligning stage, cleat attachments surgically placed over the impacted teeth in two cases. Case 1; after 1 week, Kilroy I spring placed on the upper left central incisor teeth and it was activated. At the end of the 3rd month, teeth were observed in the mouth. After removal of Kilroy I spring, fixed orthodontic treatment was continued. Fixed attachments were removed at the end of treatment which was 16 months. Case 2; was taught taking 1/8 medium elastics from impacted centrals to lower arch. At the end of the 6th month, teeth were observed in the mouth and fixed orthodontic treatment was continued. Fixed orthodontic attachments were removed at the end of the treatment period of 22 months. Eruption of the upper incisors was reached successfully with both techniques using multidiciplinary approach, Bu olgu sunumunda gömülü santral keserlerin sürdürülmesinde iki farklı tekniğin etkinliğinin değerlendirilmiştir. On-bir ve 23 yıl kronolojik yaştaki iki erkek hastanın santral keser dişlerini sürdürmek için sabit ortodontik ataşmanlar uygulandı. Her iki olguda da seviyeleme ve sıralama aşamalarından sonra gömülü dişlerin üzeri cerrahi olarak açılarak cleat ataşmanlar yerleştirildi. Olgu 1; 1 hafta sonra 11 yaşındaki hastanın üst sol santral kesici dişine Kilroy I spring yerleştirilerek aktive edildi, 3. ayın sonunda diş ağızda gözlendi ve diş tamamen sürdükten sonra Kilroy I spring çıkartılarak sabit ortodontik mekaniklerle tedaviye devam edildi. On-altı ay süren tedavinin ardından sabit ataşmanlar çıkartıldı. Olgu 2; 23 yaşındaki hastanın her iki gömülü santralinden alt arkına 1/8 medium lastik kullanımı öğretildi. Altı ay sonunda diş ağızda gözlendi ve tamamen sürdükten sonra sabit ortodontik mekanikler ile tedaviye devam edildi. Yirmiiki ay süren tedavinin ardından sabit ortodontik ataşmanlar çıkartıldı. Bu iki olgu ile gömülü üst keser dişlerin sürdürülmesinde kullanılan her iki tekniğin de multidisipliner yaklaşım ile başarılı olduğu vurgulanmak istenmiştir

5. Non-Syndromic Familial Unerupted Teeth: A Rare Contidion

Abstract

A tooth that remains unerupted beyond the normal time of eruption and fails to erupt is called an impacted tooth. Maxillofacial surgeons encounter the problem of impacted teeth very often. Usually, impacted teeth involve the permanent dentition and they are rare in the primary dentition. Impaction of a primary tooth is a very rare entity. These rare cases are seen more frequently in primary second molars, followed by the order of the lower and upper centralincisor, lateral incisor and the canine teeth. Evolutionary and hereditary factors may cause uneruption. In this report, three cases of impacted primary teeth that belong to same familial members are presented. Father and sons. We extracted boy’s teeth but father refused treatment.

Abstract

Lipomlar, çoğunlukla ince bir fibröz kapsül ile çevrili olgunlaşmış adipositlerden oluşan benign mezenşimal neoplazmlardır. Lipomlar en yoğun olarak 40 yaş ve üzerinde görülür. Maksilofasiyal bölgede en sık yerleştiği kısım bukkal mukoza olarak bildirilmiştir. Bunu sırasıyla dil, ağız tabanı, dudaklar izler. Oral kavitede lipomların en sık görüldüğü bölgeler yanak, dil, damak, mandibulave dudaktır ve genellikle sapsız ya da kapsüllü bir kitle olarak gözlenirler. Bu olgu raporunda 6 aydır sağ alt vestibülde ağrısız şişliği bulunan, 58 yaşında erkek hasta sunulmuştur. Lezyon normal mukoza ile çevrili ve sınırlanmış olarak görülmekteydi. Hasta lokal anestezi altında opere edildi. Histopatolojik inceleme sonucunda lipom tanısı doğrulandı.

7. The effect of infliximab on bone healing in osteoporotic rats

Abstract

Purpose: The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of the infliximab on autogenous-mediated bone regeneration and resorption of autogenous graft in the ovariectomised rat model. Materials and methods: Forty rats underwent ovariectomy and 6 weeks later the animals were randomly assigned to four groups. Critical size defects were created in each rat calvarium. In the control group (C), the flap was closed without any further action. In the only infliximab group (In), the flap was closed without any further action. After the operation, intravenous infliximab was injected. In the autogenous graft group (Ag), autogenous bone was applied in to the defect. In autogenous graft + infliximab group (Ag+In), autogenous graft was placed on the defect. After the operation, intravenous infliximab was injected. The animals were sacrificed at 4 weeks. Bone formation was assessed by micro-computed tomography (micro-CT) scans and stereological analysis. Results: The mean new bone volume was the greatest in Ag+In group (1.76 ± 0.20), followed by the Ag group (1.51 ± 0.05) (statistically significant difference at P 0.05). Besides there was a statistically significant difference between the Ag+In group (1.00 ± 0.05) and Ag group (0.74 ± 0.04) in terms of the graft volume ( P

Abstract

Lipomas are benign mesenchymal neoplasms composed of mature adipocytes, usually surrounded by a thin fibrous capsule. The most common location for lipomas in the maxillofacial region has been reported as the buccal mucosa and the peak incidence age for lipoma is 40 years and above. In the oral cavity, the most common sites are the cheek, tongue, palate, mandible and lip where lipomas occur as sessile or encapsulated masses. The present study reports a case of a 58-year-old man presented with a painless mass in the right vestibule that had been present for 6 months. The lesion was covered by normal mucosa, seemed to be circumscribed. Under local anesthesia, excision was performed. Histopathological examination was consistence with the diagnosis of a lipoma.
