The immobilization of sulfonic acid on the surface of Fe3O4 magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) as a novel acid nanocatalyst has been successfully reported. The morphological features, thermal stability, magnetic properties, and other physicochemical properties of the prepared superparamagnetic core–shell (Fe3O4@PFBA–Metformin@SO3H) were thoroughly characterized using Fourier transform infrared (FTIR), X‐ray diffraction (XRD), energy‐dispersive X‐ray spectroscopy (EDS), field‐emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), thermogravimetric analysis–differential thermal analysis (TGA‐DTA), atomic force microscopy (AFM), dynamic light scattering (DLS), Brunauer–Emmett–Teller (BET), and vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM) techniques. It was applied as an efficient and reusable catalyst for the synthesis of 2‐(piperazin‐1‐yl) quinoxaline and benzimidazole derivatives via a one‐pot multiple‐component cascade reaction under green conditions. The results displayed the excellent catalytic activity of Fe3O4@PFBA–metformin@SO3H as an organic–inorganic hybrid nanocatalyst in condensation and multicomponent Mannich‐type reactions. The easy separation, simple workup, excellent stability, and reusability of the nanocatalyst and quantitative yields of products and short reaction time are some outstanding advantages of this protocol. A new acetylated chalcone glycoside, trans-2′,6′-dihydroxy-4′-O-(4″-acetyl-rhamnoside)-4-methoxychalcone (1) and a new biflavonoid glycosides, 5,3′,5″,4″′-tetrahydroxy-3″′,5″′dimethoxy-biflavone (4′ → 8″)-7-O-((2-rhamnoside) rhamnoside) (2) were isolated from the ethyl acetate soluble fraction of the methanol extract obtained from Trigonosciadium brachytaenium and have been purified by column chromatography and preparative TLC. Those structures were elucidated by UV, 1H NMR and 13C NMR, HMBC, EI-MS and IR spectra. The antioxidant activity of ethyl acetate extract was evaluated by 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl method. The results indicate that ethyl acetate extract from aerial part of T. brachytaenium possesses considerable antioxidant activity. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The study of quinoxalines as nitrogen-rich heterocyclic compounds has garnered substantial interest within scientific research owing to their multidimensional functionalization capabilities and significant biological activities. The scope of study encompasses their application as potent antiviral agents, particularly within the domain of respiratory pathologies-a topic of pivotal concern in this comprehensive review. They have several prominent pharmacological effects, such as potential influenza inhibitors, potential anti-SARS coronavirus inhibitors, potential anti-SARS-CO-2 coronavirus inhibitors, and miscellaneous respiratory antiviral activities. As a result, some of the literature has described many of these quinoxalines using various synthetic methods for their mentioned biological effects. In the present review, we provided insight into quinoxaline synthesis, structure-activity relationship (SAR), and antiviral activities, along with a compilation of recent studies. The article further encapsulates the gamut of past and ongoing research efforts in the design and synthetic exploration of antiviral scaffolds, with a pronounced emphasis on their strategic deployment against viral pandemics, contextualized against the tapestry of the recent COVID-19 outbreak. In this effort, the immobilization of guanidine-sulfonate on the surface of Fe 3 O 4 MNPs (magnetic nanoparticles) as a novel acid nanocatalyst has been successfully reported for the synthesis of N -substituted ( Z )-5-arylidene thiazolidine-2,4-dione and related cyclic derivatives, including rhodanine (RHD) and hydantoin (HYD) via a one-pot multiple-component reaction under green conditions. The products were characterized by SEM, TEM, TGA, EDS, BET techniques, VSM, and FTIR. The novel compounds synthesized using this methodology, designated as series La (1-9), Lb (1-8), and Lc (1-8), were subjected to anticancer screening against A549 and MCF7cell lines via MTT assays. Notably, several compounds (L1a, L2a, L3a, L1b, L2b, L3b, and L4b) exhibited potent antiproliferative activities, with observed IC 50 values as low as 1.23 μM and 1.02 μM against MCF-7 cells, thereby outperforming the established anticancer drugs doxorubicin and cisplatin. Molecular docking and dynamics simulations revealed that ligands L1a, L2a, and L3a strongly interact with the protein target 3CD8, with L1a displaying significant hydrophobic and hydrogen bonding interactions and L2a engaging in unique pi-pi stacking with key residues. For protein 2WGJ, ligand L4b exhibited exceptional binding affinity, characterized by robust hydrogen bonding, hydrophobic interactions, and additional stabilizing mechanisms such as water bridges and pi interactions. Hence, N -substituted ( Z )-5-arylidene thiazolidine-2,4-dione and its cyclic derivatives may serve as promising candidates for further exploration in the development of new multi-target cancer chemotherapy agents.
