Objective: The aim of the study is to investigate the wound healing and antibacterial activity of terebinth extract and the mixture of terebinth+3% oxytetracycline in experimental back skin wounds. Materials-Methods: The animal material of the study consisted of 18 mice. The animals were divided into 3 groups as control group (group I, n:6), terebinth group (group II, n:6), terebinth+oxytetracycline group (group III, n:6). Wounds with a 1 cm2 diameter were induced on the back of the mice and infected with Staphylococcus aureus ATCC® 25923 reference strain. Treatment protocols for the groups were applied daily, once a day. Total aerobic mesophilic bacteria and S. aureus count was performed in the swab samples taken on days 3, 7, and 14 of the healing process. Results: In the study, it was found that wound healing process was completed the earliest in Group III (mean duration of 15.67±0.609 days), which was followed by Group II (18±0.73) and Group I (24.67±0.919), respectively. The healing period was statistically significantly shorter in Group II and Group III than in Group I (p<0.001). In the evaluation of aerobic mesophilic bacteria and S. aureus load, much less live bacteria were found in Group III compared to the other groups. In addition, the number of bacteria measured in group II, in which terebinth extract was used, was found to be significantly lower than the number of bacteria measured in the control group. Conclusion: Consequently, it was concluded that the extract of terebinth plant grown in Siirt region reduced the bacterial load in the wound area and accelerated the healing process. OBJECTIVE: The aim of this study was to investigate central smell centers with cranial magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) in COVID-19. PATIENTS AND METHODS: This retrospective study evaluated cranial MRI images of 54 adults. The experimental group (Group 1), consisting of 27 patients with positive COVID-19 real-time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RTPCR) assays, was compared to the control group (Group 2), comprising 27 healthy controls without COVID-19. The apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) values were measured in the corpus amygdala, thalamus, and insular gyrus in both groups. RESULTS: Thalamus ADC values of the COVID-19 group were significantly lower compared to the control group bilaterally. However, no differences were found in the insular gyrus and corpus amygdala ADC values between the two groups. Positive correlations were observed between the insular gyrus and corpus amygdala ADC values and the thalamus ADC values. Insular gyrus ADC values (right) were higher in females. Left insular gyrus and corpus amygdala ADC values were higher in COVID-19 patients with smell loss. Right insular gyrus and left corpus amygdala ADC values were lower in COVID-19 patients with lymphopenia. CONCLUSIONS: Diffusion restriction in olfactory areas can be considered an obvious indicator that the COVID-19 virus affects and damages the immune system at the neuronal level. Given the urgency and lethality of the current pandemic, acute onset odor loss should be considered a high suspicion-adhesive index for patients with SARS-CoV-2 infection. Therefore, the sense of smell should be considered and evaluated simultaneously with other neurological symptoms. OBJECTIVE: The aim of this study was to compare preoperative and postoperative findings of the sciatic nerve by using B-mode ultrasound, strain elastography (SE), and shear wave elastography (SWE) in patients with unilateral lumbar foraminal disc herniation. PATIENTS AND METHODS: In this prospective study group, patients with complaints of foraminal disc herniation due to one level (L4-5 or L5-S1) were included. Preoperative and postoperative (one month after surgery) B-mode ultrasound, SE, and SWE findings of the affected sciatic nerve in patients who underwent unilateral spinal decompression surgery were compared. Evaluations were performed on the axial plane from the gluteal region using a convex probe of 5-9L MHz. The reference method used to assess nerve root compression was 1.5-T Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI). RESULTS: A total of 20 patients (9 males, 11 females) with a mean age of 46.2±13.1 years were included. The cross-sectional area (CSA), diameter, SWE values of the sciatic nerve were significantly higher in the affected side compared to those of the non-affected side (all for p<0.05). Blue and blue-green were the most common color codes in the affected side while green and green-yellow-red were the most common color codes in the non-affected side. The CSA, diameter, and SWE values of the sciatic nerve decreased after the surgery in the affected side (all for p<0.05), nonetheless. those did not differ in the non-affected side (all for p>0.05). CONCLUSIONS: Lumbar decompression surgery decreases the sciatic nerve diameter, CSA, and stiffness of the sciatic nerve. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In this case report, the clinical and radiographic results of the treatment of Salter Harris Type II fracture in the left humerus of a 10-month-old female and crossbred dog with parallel pin technique was evaluated. The dog with complaining of lameness was brought to Siirt University, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Clinic of Surgery Department and local fracture findings were found in the distal 1/3 of the left humerus. On radiological examination, it was found that the distal physeal line of the left humerus was detached. Also, it was seen that the integrity of the bone cortex was disrupted through in a line that included the metaphysis at the medial angle. In the operation, following the reduction of the fracture fragments, 2 krischner pins with 2 mm in diameter parallel to each other were applied from the medial cortex of the humerus to the lateral side of the distal condule and fixation was achieved. After the operation, the limb was taken to a backed bandage. In the radiological examination of the case on post-op 3rd week, it was found that the formation of the collus began. On the post-op 21st day, the bandage was removed and physical therapy applications were started to apply. On the post-op 4th week, it was seen that the dog used the extremity functionally and it was discharged. As a result, it was concluded that parallel double pin applications can be used successfully in the treatment of Salter Harris Type II fractures that are formed in the distal of dog's humerus. This study attempts to measure the deliberation quality of the Democratic Opening Debates in the Turkish Parliament through the Discourse Quality Index (DQI). The majority of studies have been conducted on the deliberation quality of relatively homogenised and developed Western societies and on less conflictual or contentious topics. In these countries, democratic culture has been institutionalised. On the contrary, Turkey is a developing country and has been going through an ethnic conflict involving violence for many decades. Thus, this case study aims to make an original contribution to empirical deliberation studies. Researchers have examined the 88-page stenographic records of the Democratic Opening Debates and put forward a DQI score. According to the findings, the controversial debates fulfill only 40% of high-level deliberative discourse ethics. This result demonstrates that the ideal deliberation process does not exist in Turkey even though a convenient atmosphere is created for deliberations by means of official procedures. Ethnic division in the society has a profoundly negative impact on the quality of deliberations.

Renal infiltration in children with acute leukemia has been reported previously; however, it has rarely been described in association with atypical hemolytic uremic syndrome (aHUS). We present a case of 9-year-old boy who developed life-threatening aHUS in the 1st week of Burkitt leukemia/lymphoma diagnosis with renal infiltration. Complete resolution of aHUS was achieved after therapeutic plasma exchange. This is an uncommon complication of Burkitt leukemia/lymphoma in a pediatric case. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The aim of this case report is to discribe domestic dog with purulent panartritis after bitten wound in right carpal joint. Treatment was continued until the infection is taken under control. Artrodesis was performed 20 days after medical treatment. Carpal bones were necrosis and granulation tissue formed. Rush pin method was applied II., III. and V. metacarpal bones, plate technique was performed IV. metacarpus. Treatment was continued in the postoperative period. One day year old, male, Holstein breed calf was presented to our clinics with the complaint of the bitten tongue by a dog just after his birth. In inspection, superficial skin injuries were found around the nose and the lips. In oral examination, the tongue was found to be ruptured from the torus part of the lingua. There was no foreign body in the mouth, and the patient did not have any active bleeding. Objective: The aim of the study was to measure the constraints to leisure activities participation. Method: 270 (53.9 %) male and 231 (46.1 %) female, a total of 501 individuals aged between 18-54 ≥ voluntarily participated to this study. "Leisure Constraints Questionaire" (LCQ) consists of 29 items as limiting factors in recreational activities as reasons for nonparticipants (Alexandris K., Carroll B., 1997). The Turkish form of the LCQ (T-LCQ) (Karak0ü0ç0ük S., G0ürb0üz B., 2006) includes 27 statements and 6 subscales: (a) facilities/services and accessibility, (b) social environment and lack of knowledge, (c) individual psychological, (d) lack of partners, (e) time and (f) lack of interests. The internal consistency for 501 adults were ranged from .73 (time) to .88 (individual psychological). Independent samples t-test and one way analysis of variance (ANOVA) were used to test the mean differences with respect to some demographic variables. Results and Conclusion: Independent samples t-test were revealed that there was a significant difference in individual psychological [t(498) = 2.97; p<0.05], facilities/services and accessibility [t(497) = -3.16; p<.05], and time subscale [t(494) = -2.35; p<.05] according to gender. There was also statistically mean differences according to the marital status in facilities/services and accessibility [t(498) = 4.58; p<.05] and time subscale [t(494) = 4.32; p<.05]. ANOVA analysis specified a significant mean differences in the individual psychological [F(3-496) = 8.62 ; p< .05], social environment [F(3-495) = 8.50; p< .05], facilities/services and accessibility [F(3-481) = 6.46; p< .05] and time subscale [F(3-492) = 4.15; p< .05], with regard to educational level. However no significant differences was found in the two other subscales (p>.05). Objective: To evaluate and compare the quality and comprehensibility of answers produced by five distinct artificial intelligence (AI) chatbots-GPT-4, Claude, Mistral, Google PaLM, and Grok-in response to the most frequently searched questions about kidney stones (KS). Materials and Methods: Google Trends facilitated the identification of pertinent terms related to KS. Each AI chatbot was provided with a unique sequence of 25 commonly searched phrases as input. The responses were assessed using DISCERN, the Patient Education Materials Assessment Tool for Printable Materials (PEMAT-P), the Flesch-Kincaid Grade Level (FKGL), and the Flesch-Kincaid Reading Ease (FKRE) criteria. Results: The three most frequently searched terms were "stone in kidney," "kidney stone pain," and "kidney pain." Nepal, India, and Trinidad and Tobago were the countries that performed the most searches in KS. None of the AI chatbots attained the requisite level of comprehensibility. Grok demonstrated the highest FKRE (55.6 ± 7.1) and lowest FKGL (10.0 ± 1.1) ratings ( p = 0.001), whereas Claude outperformed the other chatbots in its DISCERN scores (47.6 ± 1.2) ( p = 0.001). PEMAT-P understandability was the lowest in GPT-4 (53.2 ± 2.0), and actionability was the highest in Claude (61.8 ± 3.5) ( p = 0.001). Conclusion: GPT-4 had the most complex language structure of the five chatbots, making it the most difficult to read and comprehend, whereas Grok was the simplest. Claude had the best KS text quality. Chatbot technology can improve healthcare material and make it easier to grasp.

Introduction: There are conflicting results in the literature regarding the efficacy of Retrograde intrarenal surgery (RIRS) in lower pole stones. This study aimed to evaluate RIRS outcomes in lower pole stones by forming matched case-control groups., Methods: The data of 491 patients who were diagnosed with kidney stones and underwent RIRS were retrospectively included in the study. A total of 209 patients with lower pole stones (Group 1) and 282 patients with pelvic stones (Group 2) were matched at a 1:1 ratio in terms of stone burden, stone density, preoperative double-J stenting status, and a previous history of shock wave lithotripsy, yielding 159 patients in each group. A computed tomography scan was performed to evaluate the stone-free status. The primary outcome was stone-free status one month after RIRS., Results: After case-control matching, the median age was 49 years (interquartile range [IQR]: 40-58) in Group 1 and 50 years (IQR: 35-60) in Group 2 (p=0.388). The median stone burden values of Group 1 and Group 2 were 415.3 mm3 (IQR: 176.1-858.2) and 503.3 mm3 (IQR: 282.5-864), respectively (p=0.100). After RIRS, stone-free status was achieved by 126 of the 159 (79.2 %) in Group 1 and 133 of the 159 (83.6%) patients in Group 2 (p=0.387). The groups were similar in terms of perioperative complications (4.4% in Group 1 and 3.8% in Group 2, p=0.777), postoperative complications (13.8% in Group 1 and 10.3% in Group 2, p=0.393), and median operation time (60 min in both, p=0.230). A longer median fluoroscopy time was noted in Group 1 compared to Group 2 (26 sec and 3 sec, respectively, p=0.013)., Conclusions: Stone-free rates and complications were comparable between the patients with lower pole and pelvic stones after RIRS. A JJ stent placed before retrograde intrarenal surgery (RIRS) may ease the procedure. However, it is important to note that a prolonged duration of double J stent (DJS) placement before RIRS may increase the risk of postoperative urinary tract infection (UTI). Various publications have established this association, although the duration of the DJS before surgery is scarce. Our study investigates the relationship between the pre-stenting period and postoperative UTI and establishes a cut-off period to minimize this risk. We included a total of 500 cases with preoperative DJS prior to RIRS. The patients were divided into five groups according to their preoperative stenting duration (Group 1: 0-15 days; Group 2: 16-30 days; Group 3: 31-45 days; Group 4: 46-60 days; Group 5: >60 days). Demographic and clinical data of the patients, stone properties, operation data, perioperative and postoperative complications (including fever and UTI), hospitalization time, and stone-free rates (SFR) were compared. The groups contained 53, 124, 102, 63, and 158 patients. The demographics of the patients in each group were similar. There was no statistically significant difference between DJS duration, perioperative/postoperative complications, and SFR, except for the ureteral access sheath (UAS) insertion rate. (p = 0.001). The postoperative fever/UTI rate was the lowest in Group 1 (p = 0.046) compared to other durations. Stent duration does not impact SFR. Longer stents enhance UAS insertion success but increase postoperative infection risk. Concrete and mortar wastes, which have a large volume and economic value among construction demolition wastes, are the most targeted demolition waste group to be recycled. An important area where construction demolition waste can be utilized is self-compacting mortar (SCM) systems. SCMs are innovative and economical systems designed to minimize the labor requirements that are difficult to meet in the production process. In this study, mortar waste aggregate (MWA) obtained by mechanical crushing and grinding was used in SCM elements by substituting different ratios (5-10-20-30-40 %) by mass to aggregate. In this way, it was aimed to evaluate both the sustainability of MWAs and the usability of MWAs in SCMs, which are considered as a new production technology. The fresh and hardened mortar tests performed in the study are presented comparatively. The physical (dry unit volume weight, porosity), durability (capillary water absorption) and mechanical properties (flexural tensile, compressive strength) of the hardened SCM elements are based on the determinations made at 3, 7 and 28 test days and according to different curing conditions (water curing, air curing and heat curing). In addition, X-ray Diffractometer (XRD) analysis was performed on specimens obtained from 0 %, 10 %, 20 % and 40 % MWA substituted specimens after heat curing (after 7 days water curing) and 28 days water curing. Introduction: The aim of the study was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of retrograde intrarenal surgery (RIRS) in elderly patients by comparing them with propensity score-matched age-groups., Methods: Patients who underwent RIRS to treat upper urinary tract stone disease at seven centers were included in the study and were divided into four groups. The age intervals of the patients in group 1, group 2, group 3, and group 4 were 18-29 years old, 30-49 years old, 50-64 years old, and over 65 years old, respectively. Propensity score matching analysis was used to homogenize the groups in terms of demographic and clinical properties. Operative results, preoperative complications, perioperative complications, postoperative complications, duration of hospitalization time, and stone-free status were compared between groups., Results: A total of 1,017 patients were included in the study. There were 69 (9.9%) patients in group 1, 324 (46.5%) in group 2, 217 (31.1%) in group 3, and 87 (12.5%) in group 4 after propensity score matching. The operation time and postoperative complication rates were significantly different among groups, whereas the hospitalization time, perioperative complication rates, and stone-free status were similar. The operation time was significantly higher in patients over 65 years old (p = 0.001). Background: Premature ejaculation (PE) is the most prevalent sexual dysfunction in men, and like many diseases and conditions, patients use Internet sources like ChatGPT, which is a popular artificial intelligence-based language model, for queries about this andrological disorder., Aim: The objective of this research was to evaluate the quality, readability, and understanding of texts produced by ChatGPT in response to frequently requested inquiries on PE., Methods: In this study we used Google Trends to identify the most frequently searched phrases related to PE. Subsequently, the discovered keywords were methodically entered into ChatGPT, and the resulting replies were assessed for quality using the Ensuring Quality Information for Patients (EQIP) program. The produced texts were assessed for readability using the Flesch-Kincaid Grade Level (FKGL), Flesch Reading Ease Score (FRES), and DISCERN metrics., Outcomes: This investigation has identified substantial concerns about the quality of texts produced by ChatGPT, highlighting severe problems with reading and understanding., Results: The mean EQIP score for the texts was determined to be 45.93 ± 4.34, while the FRES was 15.8 ± 8.73. Additionally, the FKGL score was computed to be 15.68 ± 1.67 and the DISCERN score was 38.1 ± 3.78. The comparatively low average EQIP and DISCERN scores suggest that improvements are required to increase the quality and dependability of the presented information. In addition, the FKGL scores indicate a significant degree of linguistic intricacy, requiring a level of knowledge comparable to about 14 to 15 years of formal schooling in order to understand. The texts about treatment, which are the most frequently searched items, are more difficult to understand compared to other texts about other categories., Clinical Implications: The results of this research suggest that compared to texts on other topics the PE texts produced by ChatGPT exhibit a higher degree of complexity, which exceeds the recommended reading threshold for effective health communication. Currently, ChatGPT is cannot be considered a substitute for comprehensive medical consultations., Strengths and Limitations: This study is to our knowledge the first reported research investigating the quality and comprehensibility of information generated by ChatGPT in relation to frequently requested queries about PE. The current study was aimed at presenting a bibliometric analysis of PD, which is one of the important and trending subjects of andrology., Methods: On January 5, 2023, Web of Science scanned documents with the terms Peyronie's disease" "Peyronie's disease treatment", "Peyronie's disease management", "Peyronie's disease surgery" and "Peyronie's disease injection" from 1975 through 2023. Titles, years, authors, citations, citation indices, journal names, authors' countries of origin, article categories, and funding sources were recorded., Results: "Clinical Efficacy, Safety and Tolerability of Collagenase Clostridium Histolyticum for the Treatment of Peyronie Disease in 2 Large Double-Blind, Randomized, Placebo Controlled Phase 3 Studies" has the most citations and citation index. Most of the T100 articles were published in 2020, primarily in the Journal of Urology. These articles mainly focused on treatment, especially surgeries. All of these articles were in English, and the vast majority of them were by authors from the US who were most frequently collaborated with by other authors., Conclusion: This research analyzed the top 100 PD studies. This research focused on pathophysiology, innovative surgical procedures, and new approaches of PD. The aim of the study is to evaluate and compare the quality and readability of responses generated by five different artificial intelligence (AI) chatbots-ChatGPT, Bard, Bing, Ernie, and Copilot-to the top searched queries of erectile dysfunction (ED). Google Trends was used to identify ED-related relevant phrases. Each AI chatbot received a specific sequence of 25 frequently searched terms as input. Responses were evaluated using DISCERN, Ensuring Quality Information for Patients (EQIP), and Flesch-Kincaid Grade Level (FKGL) and Reading Ease (FKRE) metrics. The top three most frequently searched phrases were "erectile dysfunction cause", "how to erectile dysfunction," and "erectile dysfunction treatment." Zimbabwe, Zambia, and Ghana exhibited the highest level of interest in ED. None of the AI chatbots achieved the necessary degree of readability. However, Bard exhibited significantly higher FKRE and FKGL ratings (p = 0.001), and Copilot achieved better EQIP and DISCERN ratings than the other chatbots (p = 0.001). Bard exhibited the simplest linguistic framework and posed the least challenge in terms of readability and comprehension, and Copilot's text quality on ED was superior to the other chatbots.
