Abstract Shigellosis, caused by the Gram-negative bacterium Shigella, is a major global health challenge. Despite extensive research over the past two decades, no commercial vaccine is available to prevent Shigella infection. Developing multi-epitope vaccines offers a promising and innovative approach to tackling infectious diseases. In this study, we produced a multi-epitope vaccine candidate using E. coli BL21 (DE3) plysS bacteria and purified the vaccine protein with Ni-NTA affinity chromatography. We then prepared alginate nanoparticles containing the vaccine protein, with a particle size of 122 ± 6 nm, PDI 0.17, SPAN 0.83, and zeta potential of -27 ± 2 mV. Successful protein loading was confirmed through nanodrop and ATR-FTIR analyses. To evaluate the immunogenicity of the encapsulated vaccine, mice were orally vaccinated, and their serum was analyzed for IgG, IL-4, and IFN-γ levels cytokines. The results showed a significant increase in IgG level in the vaccinated group compared to controls. Additionally, the vaccinated group exhibited a notable increase in IL-4 and IFN-γ cytokines, indicating a robust Th-cell-mediated immune response essential for combating Shigella. Our nano-vaccine demonstrated high efficacy in activating both humoral and cellular immunity, effectively protecting against the bacteria. The alginate-based oral vaccine candidate thus emerges as a promising strategy for developing a multi-epitope vaccine candidate against Shigella.

IntroductionPulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) is a severe cardiovascular condition characterized by pulmonary vascular remodeling, increased resistance to blood flow, and eventual right heart failure. Right heart catheterization (RHC) is the gold standard diagnostic technique, but due to its invasiveness, it poses risks such as vessel and valve injury. In recent years, machine learning (ML) technologies have offered non-invasive alternatives combined with ML for improving the diagnosis of PAH.ObjectivesThe study aimed to evaluate the diagnostic performance of various methods, such as electrocardiography (ECG), echocardiography, blood biomarkers, microRNA, chest x-ray, clinical codes, computed tomography (CT) scan, and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), combined with ML in diagnosing PAH.MethodsThe outcomes of interest included sensitivity, specificity, area under the curve (AUC), positive likelihood ratio (PLR), negative likelihood ratio (NLR), and diagnostic odds ratio (DOR). This study employed the Quality Assessment of Diagnostic Accuracy Studies-2 (QUADAS-2) tool for quality appraisal and STATA V.12.0 for the meta-analysis.ResultsA comprehensive search across six databases resulted in 26 articles for examination. The complexity of procedures, concentration dependency, and time consumption associated with traditional microRNA analysis platforms render them unsuitable for point-of-care (POC) diagnostics. In order to address the challenges posed by reduced electro activity resulting from the use of surfactants or stabilizers in the fabrication of nanostructures for biosensors, we have developed a customized method for gold nanofabrication. This technique involves the deposition of gold nanostructures (Au-NS) onto FTO electrodes without the use of surfactants or stabilizers, followed by the immobilization of thiolated ssDNA onto the substrate surface. To assess the performance of the resulting biosensor, we hybridized miR-9 with the ssDNA and determined the linear detection range to be from 10 zM to 100 nM. Our approach provides a unique solution to the limitations associated with electrochemical and/or SERS biosensors and demonstrates the potential for improved biosensing applications. The acquired data demonstrate the superior ability of nanostructured biosensors for label-free detection of miR-9 at attomolar limit of detection (LOD = 0.012 aM). The HRSEM data also revealed a unique nanostructure; the AFM topology confirmed an increase in the surface area aspect ratio features; and the GIXRD analysis approved the fabricated AuNSs on FTO electrodes. Furthermore, electrochemical analysis of AuNS’ platforms showed considerable electroactivity compared to bare FTO. In addition to its previously demonstrated performance, our biosensor exhibited outstanding selectivity in the detection of miR-486. The use of AuNSs in our biosensor fabrication results in excellent selectivity, high electroactivity, and ease of fabrication, rendering it an ideal option for both biosensing and cancer screening applications.

Background: Type 2 diabetes is a major public health challenge. Indian Diabetes Risk Score (IDRS), a simple and cost-effective tool consisting of two modifiable (waist circumference, physical activity) and two non-modifiable risk factors (age, parental history) for diabetes, can be easily applied in mass screening programmes. Opportunistic screening for diabetes among individuals aged = 30 years is being done under the programme for Prevention and Control of Non-communicable Diseases. Objective: To assess the risk of type 2 diabetes mellitus using IDRS, coverage of screening services for diabetes through the primary health care delivery system and to identify their correlates. Methodology: : A descriptive, cross-sectional study was conducted in a block of Murshidabad district, West Bengal during September to November 2023 among permanent residents aged = 30 years on a calculated sample of 300 selected through multi-stage sampling. Required data were collected by interviewing the study subjects using pre-designed, pre-tested schedule including IDRS, reviewing medical records and measuring waist circumference. Analysis was done using SPSS-20. Results: Among 300 participants, 40.7% had high risk; 54% and 5.3% had moderate and low risk of diabetes respectively according to IDRS. In multivariable analysis, age =35 years (AOR 18.10, 95% CI 5.07-64.66), female gender (AOR 2.36, 95% CI 1.40-4.00) and being in joint family (AOR 3.53, 95% CI 1.77-7.04) were significant correlates for high-risk category according to IDRS. Only 67% were screened for diabetes within last six months, of which 89% were through primary health care delivery system. Screening status varied significantly by age group (OR 3.81, 95% CI 1.98-7.35) and IDRS risk categories (OR 1.72, 95% CI 1.06-2.80). Conclusion: Alarmingly substantial proportion of people in the area are at high/moderate risk of diabetes coupled with low opportunistic screening coverage, which highlights the need for intensive behaviour change communication and stronger service delivery.

Abstract Background The induction of oxidative stress is one of the most important cancer etiologies. Plant essential oils contain many effective antioxidant compounds in improving oxidative stress. In the present study, the pharmacological potential of Trachyspermum ammi essential oil (TAEO) and Ferula assafoetida essential oil (FAEO) was compared in oxidative stress improvement and cytotoxic effect. TAEO and FAEO were prepared by Clevenger apparatus, and the medicinal compounds in the essential oils were evaluated by GC–MS assay. The TAEO and FAEO were also evaluated as to their phenolic and flavonoid content, monovalent reducing power, and total radical scavenging activity, respectively, by Folin–Ciocalteu, aluminum chloride, FRAP, and DPPH methods. The cytotoxic effect of the TAEO and FAEO was evaluated by MTT assay on MCF-7 (ER+) and MDA-MB-468 (ER−) breast cancer cell lines. Abstract Introduction: Rainfall and runoff process is one of the main phases of the hydrological cycle and is simulated using hydrological models to examine the relationship between rainfall and runoff. The accuracy of the runoff estimation depends on the input parameters of the hydrological model including the sub-basins Curve Number (CN), Initial abstraction (Ia) and Lag time (Lt). Methods: In this study, to more accurately estimate the simulated discharges computing through the hydrological model HEC-HMS in Mahabadchay watershed, the input parameters were calibrated. For this purpose, two evolutionary algorithms including Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) and Simulated Annealing (SA) were used. In each iteration, the basin hydrological parameters are estimated using optimizer and given to the simulator. Afterwards, simulations are made. The Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) was used as objective function. The AutoIt software was used to automatically couple the optimization algorithms with HEC-HMS model. The rainfall-runoff data related to the 5 events of year 1387 were used to calibrate and validate the optimal parameters. Findings: The results showed PSO convergence speed is more than SA algorithm in finding optimal objective function value and calibrating the hydrological parameters including CN, Ia, and Lt. Also, the optimal computed hydrograph found by SA algorithm had good agreement with that of by PSO one. Considering the results, it is concluded that the hydrologic parameters of watersheds without data can accurately be estimated by linking optimization and hydrologic models.

This study aims to look at the roots of conflict in the Pindul Cave tourist area and see what potentials are likely to be intervened using conflict management governance practices. This study also recommends the concept of Community-Based Tourism that can be applied to Pindul Cave tourism as an effort to resolve conflicts. This study uses a qualitative method. Based on the research results, there is a land conflict between Atik Damayanti as the owner of part of the land in Pindul Cave Tourism and Pokdarwis in Bejiharjo Village, Gunungkidul Regency and BUMDes, Bejiharjo Village, Gunungkidul Regency. Second, is the conflict in the management of Pindul Cave tourism which has 11 Pokdarwis competing with each other, resulting in several jockeys and marketing playing the price of tourism in Pindul Cave. Other results include examples of the implementation of Community-Based Tourism that can be realized in the Pindul Cave Tourism Village, Bejiharjo Village, and Gunungkidul Regency as an effort to practice governance in conflict resolution.

Japanese threadfin bream (Nemipterus japonicus) contains highmyofibril protein which can be used as raw material in processing of surimi and kamaboko, however both of those products are able to cause allergies in people who have hypersensitivity to allergenic proteins. Parvalbumin is a sarcoplasmic protein which is the main source of allergies in fish. The washing process in surimi processing can remove sarcoplasmic proteins. Therefore, this research was conducted to determine the allergenic protein content in each processing process of surimi and kamaboko Japanese threadfin bream fish. The protein profiles of surimi and washingwater were visualized using sodium dodecyl sulphate polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE) and total parvalbumin protein was calculated using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). The SDS-PAGE results showed that the washing process removed several allergens as indicated by a decrease in the protein band at a molecular weight of 10-13 kDa and for ELISA the absorbance value decreased with the number of washing processes in surimi processing. The content of parvalbumin and other allergycausing proteins such as aldolase A and β-enolase decreased after the meat underwent the washing process.

Evaluation of student learning in Islamic boarding schools is still limited to the results of exams conducted in writing which can lead to the determination of student achievement using simple criteria, resulting in less than optimal results. In addition, the importance of selecting criteria to suit the learning characteristics of the Islamic boarding school students. The purpose of this study is to assist the process of evaluating student learning based on the value of the criteria, sub-criteria, and priorities. The method used is Rank Order Centroid in assigning weight values ​​to the criteria applied to the Simple Multi-Attribute Rating Technique Exploiting Ranks (SMARTER) and Multi-Objective Optimization By Ratio Analysis (MOORA) methods. This study produces the same alternative value in the first rank. To calculate the accuracy is done by using sensitivity analysis according to the results of preference values ​​in each method. Based on the sensitivity analysis shows that in the first sensitivity calculation the lowest value is obtained. The sensitivity value of the SMARTER method on the first sensitivity is 0.0714. While the first sensitivity value of the MOORA method is 0.0076. So the best method is owned by the MOORA method because it has the lowest sensitivity value.

Abstract Background and objectives Flavonoids are the most important group of polyphenols with well-known beneficial effects on health. However; the association of intake of total flavonoid or their subclasses with all-cause or cause-specific mortality is not fully understood. The present study aims to evaluate the association between intake of total flavonoid, flavonoid subclasses, and total and cause-specific mortality in a developing country. Methods A total number of 49,173 participants from the Golestan cohort study, who completed a validated food frequency questionnaire at recruitment, were followed from 2004 till 2018. Phenol-Explorer database was applied to estimate dietary intakes of total flavonoid and different flavonoid subclasses. Associations were examined using adjusted Cox proportional hazards models. Results During a mean follow-up of 10.63 years, 5104 deaths were reported. After adjusting for several potential confounders, the hazard ratios (HRs) of all-cause mortality for the highest versus the lowest quintile of dietary flavanones, flavones, isoflavonoids, and dihydrochalcones were 0.81 (95% confidence interval = 0.73–0.89), 0.83(0.76–0.92), 0.88(0.80–0.96) and 0.83(0.77–0.90), respectively. However, there was no association between total flavonoid intake or other flavonoid subclasses with all-cause mortality. In cause-specific mortality analyses, flavanones and flavones intakes were inversely associated with CVD mortality [HRs: 0.86(0.73–1.00) and 0.85(0.72–1.00)] and isoflavonoids and dihydrochalcones were the only flavonoid subclasses that showed a protective association against cancer mortality [HR: 0.82(0.68–0.98)]. Conclusion The results of our study suggest that certain subclasses of flavonoids can reduce all-cause mortality and mortality rate from CVD and cancer.

Background & Objectives: One of the most important elements in SPICES model is student-centered education. Taking notes is one of the simplest ways to increase student interaction and participation in learning. The purpose of this project was to design, implement, and evaluate an active-interactive education model in teaching the bacteriology course. Materials & Methods: This project was carried out in three stages including design, implementation and evaluation. At the design stage, the outline of the program was determined through meetings with faculty members from Microbiology and Infectious Diseases departments; the curriculum-based workbook was designed based on a mind map form; then, teaching was based on the workbook and student participation in the classes. Finally, project evaluation was done by completing the evaluation form by students and then statistical analysis was performed. Results: Statistical results comparing the students of Medicine and Laboratory Science showed the highest student satisfaction with using book and suggestion of using book for other courses, and least satisfaction with graphical suitability and structural design in both groups. Significant differences between the two groups were found to be statistically significant for the students of Medicine compared to the students of the Laboratory Science (p = 0.049). Conclusion: The use of filling-out form textbooks has an important role in enhancing students' interaction and participation in Medical Bacteriology education. It is suggested that a similar structure to this book be explored to teach other Microbiology courses.

Hepatitis C virus (HCV) infects the liver and causes chronic infection. Several mutations in the viral genome have been associated with drug resistance development. Currently, there is no approved vaccine against the HCV. The employment of computational biology is the primary and crucial step for vaccine design or antiviral therapy which can substantially reduce the duration and cost of studies. Therefore, in this study, we designed a multi-epitope vaccine using various immunoinformatics tools to elicit the efficient human immune responses against the HCV. Initially, various potential (antigenic, immunogenic, non-toxic and non-allergenic) epitope segments were extracted from viral structural and non-structural protein sequences using multiple screening methods. The selected epitopes were linked to each other properly. Then, toll-like receptors (TLRs) 3 and 4 agonists (50S ribosomal protein L7/L12 and human β-defensin 2, respectively) were added to the N-terminus of the final vaccine sequence to increase its immunogenicity. The 3D structure of the vaccine was modeled. Molecular dynamics simulations studies verified the high stability of final free vaccines and in complex with TLR3 and TLR4. These constructs were also antigenic, non-allergenic, nontoxic and immunogenic. Although the designed vaccine traits were promising as a potential candidate against the HCV infection, experimental studies and clinical trials are required to verify the protective traits and safety of the designed vaccine.

Objective: the purpose of this study is to identify affecting factors on cloud computing adoption of the librarians of UTMS based on Rogers DOI.Methodology: This study carried out using descriptive survey method. all 55 librarians in UTMS were mentioned as participations. Data collection tool was a questionnaire which its validity was confirmed by professionals and scholars. Cronbach's alpha was used to determine the reliability. Multiple regression, Pearson correlation and Exploratory Factor Analysis were used for the data analysis.Findings: Exploratory factor analysis showed 7 important properties of cloud computing: Relative Advantage, Trialability, Complexity, Compatibility, and Observability. Also, two other factors were identified entitled “Opportunity of evaluation” and “Lack of need for cloud computing”. There was significant correlation between the rate of adoption and all factors except Observability. Further, the findings of correlation analysis showed that there is a significant relationship between the above mentioned 6 properties of cloud computing and adoption rate. The result of multiple regression analysis showed that the properties of “Trialability”, “Compatibility”, “Lack of need for cloud computing”, “Complexity”, “Relative Advantage” and “opportunity of evaluate”, are significant predictors for the adoption of cloud computing, which in total explain 31 percent variance of the dependent variable. The finding of this study confirmed The Rogers’ DOI (2003) in the context of perceived properties of cloud computing, from the librarians of UTMS.Originality: According to the novelty of cloud computing and its benefits for libraries, this study can be open new horizons for libraries and librarians.

Udang galah (Macrobrachium rosenbergii) yaitu salah satu komoditas perikanan air tawar yang memiliki nilai ekonomis. Permasalahan yang saat ini dihadapi dalam budidaya udang galah adalah jangka waktu budidaya yang relatif lebih lama dibandingkan dengan budidaya udang konsumsi lainnya. Upaya yang dapat dilakukan adalah dengan meningkatkan kualitas pakan, salah satunya melalui pemberian feed additive berupa lisin kedalam pakan udang galah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penambahan lisin pada pakan komersial terhadap retensi protein dan retensi energi udang galah (Macrobrachium rosenbergii). Penelitian yang dilakukan menggunakan metode eksperimental dengan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL). Analisa data untuk menguji beda nyata menggunakan Analysis of Variant berfungsi untuk mengetahui pengaruh perlakuan. Hasil penelitian menyebutkan bahwa penambahan lisin pada pakan komersial tidak berbeda nyata (p>0,05) terhadap retensi protein dan retensi energi udang galah (Macrobrachium rosenbergii). Kualitas air media pemeliharaan udang galah adalah suhu 29-30 °C, Oksigen terlarut 6,9-7,3 mg/l, pH 7-8, Amonia 0-0,25 mg/l.

The main purpose of this study is to identify the obstacles for commercializing the innovations and inventions of engineers and trainees in technical and vocational training organization of Iran. In this research by using experts opinions, the organizational, financial and human obstacles have been examined which are needed for technological commercialization in this organizations. The statistical populations of this research include vocational experts and innovators and inventors in this organization. Among eight identified components, administrative rules and regulations known as the most important obstacle and lake of knowledge of elites known as the least important items in commercialization process. The average value showed all of the eight components have a significant impact as an obstacle for commercialization the innovations of students and trainees of technical & vocational training organization of Iran.

Objective: In recent years, there has been a great attention concerning red blood cell distribution width (RDW) in clinical decisions as well as determining the severity of diseases. This study was conducted to evaluate the primary level of RDW to predict hospital mortality in pancreatitis. Methods: This was a descriptive analytical study performed on 100 patients with acute pancreatitis in the emergency department of Imam Reza hospital of Tabriz University of Medical Sciences. In this study, the primary level of RDW in patients with acute pancreatitis presenting to the emergency ward was collected and after patients’ admission we followed them. Also, the admission outcome (mortality or discharge) of patients was registered, and finally we evaluated the predictive value of RDW in determining the patient’s outcome in hospital. Results: In our study, 47 patients were male, and 53 patients were female. Mean RDW in patients was 13.82 ± 1.69. Five patients died during the study. Mean RDW in dead patients and other patients was 16.44 ± 4.22 and 13.68 ± 1.37, respectively (P < 0.001). The cut-off point of 14.55 for RDW with 80% sensitivity and 85% specificity was determined for predicting mortality in patients. Conclusion: Based on our study results, the initial RDW level is an independent factor for predicting in-hospital mortality in pancreatitis but not for determining the need for surgery or admission to the intensive care unit (ICU).

OBJECTIVE: To study the influence of local guidelines on the behaviour of nursing and medical staff to optimize the oxygen use in patients admitted to hospital. METHODS: Study was performed in a district teaching hospital. Guidelines produced suggested indications, monitoring, use of arterial blood gases (ABGs) and advice on when to stop oxygen therapy. The guidelines were implemented both verbally and in writing to all the nursing and medical staff before and after an audit studying the oxygen use by patients on medical and surgical wards. RESULTS: Ninety patients were included in pre-intervention audit and 59 in post-intervention study. Oxygen prescription did not change with guidelines 30% (27/90) vs. 32% (19/59). Nurses administered oxygen better 95% (18/19) vs. 70% (19/27) (P = 0.043) and monitored more frequently using oximetry 91% (54/59) vs. 69% (62/90) (P = 0.001) after the guidelines. Patients with airway disease had their ABGs checked more frequently 87% (14/16) vs. 65% (15/23) on admission and after they started oxygen inhalation 68% (11/16) vs. 34% (8/23). CONCLUSION: The guidelines disseminated verbally and in writing had no influence on oxygen prescription but improved the practice of close monitoring of patients with airway disease. Objective: Immunotherapy and gene therapy play important roles in modern medicine. The aim of this study is to evaluate the overexpression of interleukin-4 (IL-4), IL-10 and leukemia inhibitory factor (LIF) in Wharton’s jelly stem cells (WJSCs) in the experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE) mice model. Materials and Methods: In this experimental study, a DNA construction containing IL- 4, IL-10 and LIF was assembled to make a polycistronic vector (as the transfer vector). Transfer and control vectors were co-transfected into Human Embryonic Kidney 293 (HEK-293T) cells with helper plasmids which produced recombinant lentiviral viruses (rLV). WJSCs were transduced with rLV to make recombinant WJSC (rWJSC). In vitro protein and mRNA overexpression of IL-4, LIF, and IL-10 were evaluated using quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR), enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) and western blot (WB) analysis. EAE was induced in mice by MOG-CFA and pertussis toxin. EAE mice were injected twice with 2×105 rWJSCs. The in vivo level of IL-4, LIF, IL-10 cytokines and IL-17 were measured by ELISA. Brain tissues were analyzed histologically for evaluation of EAE lesions. Results: Isolated WJSCs were performed to characterize by in vitro differentiation and surface markers were analyzed by flow cytometry method. Cloning of a single lentiviral vector with five genes was done successfully. Transfection of transfer and control vectors were processed based on CaPO4 method with >90% efficiency. Recombinant viruses were produced and results of titration showed 2-3×107 infection-unit/ml. WJSCs were transduced using recombinant viruses. IL-4, IL-10 and LIF overexpression were confirmed by ELISA, WB and qPCR. The EAE mice treated with rWJSC showed reduction of Il-17, and brain lesions as well as brain cellular infiltration, in vivo. Weights and physical activity were improved in gene-treated group. Conclusion: These results showed that gene therapy using anti-inflammatory cytokines can be a promising approach against multiple sclerosis (MS). In addition, considering the immunomodulatory potential of WJSCs, an approach using a combination of WJSCs and gene therapy will enhance the treatment efficacy.

Abstract Background Refined grains and white rice have been associated with elevated risk of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). In this study, we sought to quantify the effect of white rice intake on incident T2DM in two prospective population-based cohort studies from Iran, where white rice is one of the main staple. Methods We used follow-up data from 9,182 participants from Golestan Cohort Study (GCS, 2004–2007, conducted mainly in rural areas) and 2,173 from Tehran Lipid and Glucose Study (TLGS, 2004–2006) who did not have T2DM and other chronic diseases at baseline. Diet was assessed using validated food frequency questionnaires. Multivariable logistic regression models were used to estimate adjusted odds ratios (ORs) for incident T2DM. Results We documented 902 new cases of T2DM in GCS and 81 in TLGS. Age-standardized cumulative incidence of T2DM was 9.9% in Golestan and 8.0% in Tehran. Objectives: The aim of this study was to evaluate the retention strength of zirconia crowns luted with two types of resin cement under environmental pressure changes. Materials and Methods: Thirty zirconia crowns were fabricated by using computer-aided design/computer-aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM) system and were cemented by Panavia F2.0 (PAN), hand-mixed RelyX Unicem (UNH), or auto-mix RelyX Unicem Aplicap (UNA) cements on the corresponding extracted human molars. The samples were randomly divided into three groups according to the cement type. After 3000 thermal cycles, the cemented crowns were subjected to 24 pressure cycles (0 to 5 atmospheres). The retention force (N) of the specimens was measured in a universal testing machine. To normalize the retentive force, the recorded force was divided by the surface area of each tooth for measuring the retentive strength (MPa). The mean retention strengths (and forces) of the groups were compared by using one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) and Tukey’s honest significant difference (HSD) test (α=0.05). The failure modes were also examined by using a stereomicroscope. Nowadays, desertification is one of the important ecological crises affecting the world. We require a proper understanding of causes and processes of desertification to control the serious phenomenon in the global and regional scales. In comprehensive management, the monitoring content is systematic collection and storage of data from activities and strategies that provide assessment and report about the overall condition of the study area. In this study, using AHP and GIS techniques, the desertification process was assessed by IMDPA model in 7864.5 ha of Zarabad region in the southeastern Iran. The results of analysis showed that desertification benchmarks and indicators in the three periods had a nonlinear trend of desertification process in the region so that the numerical value is equal to 2.73 in the period 2001-2004 but In the period 2004-2007 the figure has decreased that is show decreasing trend of desertification in recent years and the main reason for the improvement was climatic parameters such as rainfall. The numerical value in the period 2007-2010 is 2.55 shows an increasing trend of desertification. As the result show that climate benchmark is dominant over three periods and classified in high grade. Among the indicators studied, Transou aridity index and annual precipitation index had the maximum effect with the values of 3.81 and 3.4 while sodium absorption ratio value ​​was 1.17 with the least impact on desertification. Among two water quality indices in the area, the electrical conductivity has greater influence than sodium absorption ratio that it directly related to the increased exploitation of groundwater and increased salinity in the studied region.

Nowadays, higher education institutes and engineering organizations have achieved this important matter that they can maintain their initiative and advantages in long term competition by innovation and its development and extension. Both factors including rapid changing technology and intense competition have the key role in considering the increasingly innovation in industries. In this research, we tried to identify some essential barriers of development and exploitation of innovation by referring to the Iran managers and inventors community. This is an applied research and an objectively survey. To analyze the data, we used Friedman Test. The results showed that instability of supportive rules and regulations, and insufficient funds are the most important barriers of development and exploitation of innovation from managers and inventors point of view so that the inventors and managers respectively mentioned financial resources and matters relating to training as the most important barrier.

Background and Aims: The aim of this study was to measure the degree of conversion (DC) of three types of composite resins (micro-hybrid, nano-hybrid and Ormocer) with different light curing units (LED LCU and QTH LCU) in two depths.Materials and Methods: Three commercially available dental resin composites were used in this study: (Tetric Ceram, Ivoclar Vivadent, Liechtenstein-A2 shade), (Tetric Evoceram, Ivoclar Vivadent, Liechtenstein-A2 shade), (Ceram X, Dentsply, Germany-M2 shade). Specimens were divided into two groups, 5 specimens were photo-activated by QTH unit (Coltolux 75-Colten) and the other five specimens were cured by LED (Demi-Kerr). Then each specimen was sectioned at the top surface and at 2-mm depth. The DC was measured by FT-IR(Bruker-tensor 27). We report a 54-year-old woman with the history of end-stage renal disease (ESRD) who was admitted to our hospital because of volume overload. Due to long-term use of peripheral veins and arteriovenous fistula (AVF) failure, central venous catheterization was the only choice for hemodialysis. She developed right upper extremiti’s pain and paresis during hemodialysis. A posteroanterior chest x-ray showed the catheter tip was accidently pushed from right internal jugular vein into right subclavian vein during hemodialysis by the dialysis center nurse. Therefore, we believe that the physician should be aware of any changes in the catheter size after insertion. And a chest x-ray should ensure the catheter’s correct position in any patient who develops complications.

The value of nations mostly depends on their easily accessibility to the management and government rather than material resources. Effective education causes the improvement of scientific foundation; therefore, it plays a significant role in the future development. The strategic thought makes the organizations ready to confront and conform to future conditions successfully. The strategic programs would give a clear picture of moving from the status quo to more favorable situation and provide a better understanding of the environment. So it helps the organization perform more effectively. Thus, it is important to evaluate the organization competitive environment and its strategic position in the strategic planning. The university inputs are finance, building, equipment, program, facilities and human resources and its process includes education, research and providing services, keeping and transferring cultural heritage and technology; its outputs are experts and specialists in innovation, invention, scientific discoveries, production and expansion of knowledge boundaries. However, it does not prepare the effective research conditions because of the inefficiency of academic systems for better output. The old tradition of writing pamphlets is governing the educational system and because of the lack of a well-organized system and wrong policies, university environment is changing into a traditional educational one without productivity. This qualitative research was conducted through structured interviews with experts. Its aim was to identify barriers of effective academic planning and quality and productivity.

This research was conducted on July to October 2010 to evaluate the effect of porang cultivation on the abundance, diversity and composition of soil Arthropods. Change in the abundance, diversity and composition of soil Arthropods was observed using pitfall traps in two study sites (Jember and Madiun). In each study site, samplings were performed in porang cultivation land and non-porang area. A total of 15 traps were put in three lines at each location. The differences in the abundance and diversity were analyzed by using multivariate analyze tests. The soil Arthropod compositions in all locations were compared with Bray-Curtis similarity index. The effect of environmental factors on the arthropod compositions was analyzed using multiple regression. The result showed that the effect of porang-cultivation was not consistent in two study sites. In Madiun, the abundance of soil Arthropods in porang cultivation land was slightly higher than that in non-porang, while the diversity was significantly higer in the former location. In contrast the those in Jember was found in vice versa situation. This study indicate that the effect of porang-cultivation was not subtantial to the composition of soil Arthropods. Therefore practice non harmful porang cultivation should be promoted as a part of agroforestry sistem in both study sites.

Cement powder size classification efficiency significantly affects quality of final product and extent of energy consumption in clinker grinding circuits. Static and dynamic or high efficiency air separators are being used widely in closed circuit with multi-compartment tube ball mills, High Pressure Grinding Rolls (HPGR) and more recently Vertical Roller Mills (VRM) units in cement plants to classify comminuted clinker particles at finish grinding stage. Therefore, simulation of air separators is of critical importance in order to provide tools that can assist cement plants engineers in their routine clinker grinding circuit optimization efforts. In this paper, Air Separator Simulator (ASSIM), a newly developed simulator implemented in VB™ which provides a user-friendly process analysis and optimization environment will be introduced. First, a review of mathematical modeling of cyclone separators is presented. Then, the details of ASSIM and the results of its testing using industrial data from J. K. White Cement Works plant will be discussed. The simulator is mainly based on the Whiten function to model air separators and predicts fine and coarse output streams particle size distributions and flow rates. ASSIM performance was verified and validated by comparing its outputs with measured data collected around an operating air separator. Preliminary software tests indicate the accuracy and precision of the developed code in predicting various properties of output streams as sum of least squares between predicted results and actual data is less than 0.01.

Abstract Background Whitefly-transmitted geminiviruses (family Geminiviridae, genus Begomovirus) are major limiting factors for the production of numerous dicotyledonous crops throughout the warmer regions of the world. In the Old World a small number of begomoviruses have genomes consisting of two components whereas the majority have single-component genomes. Most of the monopartite begomoviruses associate with satellite DNA molecules, the most important of which are the betasatellites. Cotton leaf curl disease (CLCuD) is one of the major problems for cotton production on the Indian sub-continent. Across Pakistan, CLCuD is currently associated with a single begomovirus (Cotton leaf curl Burewala virus [CLCuBuV]) and the cotton-specific betasatellite Cotton leaf curl Multan betasatellite (CLCuMuB), both of which have recombinant origins. Surprisingly, CLCuBuV lacks C2, one of the genes present in all previously characterized begomoviruses. Virus-specific transcripts have only been mapped for few begomoviruses, including one monopartite begomovirus that does not associate with betasatellites. Similarly, the transcripts of only two betasatellites have been mapped so far. The study described has investigated whether the recombination/mutation events involved in the evolution of CLCuBuV and its associated CLCuMuB have affected their transcription strategies. Results The major transcripts of CLCuBuV and its associated betasatellite (CLCuMuB) from infected Nicotiana benthamiana plants have been determined. Two complementary-sense transcripts of ~1.7 and ~0.7 kb were identified for CLCuBuV. The ~1.7 kb transcript appears similar in position and size to that of several begomoviruses and likely directs the translation of C1 and C4 proteins. Both complementary-sense transcripts can potentially direct the translation of C2 and C3 proteins. A single virion-sense transcript of ~1 kb, suitable for translation of the V1 and V2 genes was identified. A predominant complementary-sense transcript was also confirmed for the betasatellite. Conclusions Overall, the transcription of CLCuBuV and the recombinant CLCuMuB is equivalent to earlier mapped begomoviruses/betasatellites. The recombination events that featured in the origins of these components had no detectable effects on transcription. The transcripts spanning the mutated C2 gene showed no evidence for involvement of splicing in restoring the ability to express intact C2 protein.

Introduction: The importance of quality assurance makes the standard compilation in educational systems as a high priority subject in medical education. The purpose of this study was to study the compilation of quality improvement standards in general dentistry program in Islamic Republic of Iran.Materials & Methods: This descriptive study was performed during the years of 2011 & 2012 in three phases. In the first phase, previous literature and similar standards were included in a comparative study and screened based on national health policies in Health map. Results were evaluated by 16 dental school representatives using modified Delphi methodology and open-closed questionnaires were filled by their faculty members and were reported back to the dental secretariat of ministry of health in the second phase. In the final phase, results were evaluated in the secretariat by a focus group and the final criteria were introduced based on the secretariat politics. Results: Fifty-eight criteria were created in the first phase. Data were collected from 13 faculties in the second phase (response rate=81%). Eighteen criteria had less than 90% agreement of the participants; however, all of the criteria were agreed by more than 70% of the participants. In the final phase, 48 quality improvement standards in seven areas were accepted and introduced in dental secretariat of the ministry of health.Conclusion: The final standard documents could be used as a national covenant of quality improvement based on their high agreement rate and dependence by national politics in the health map.

Potato starch is a natural carbohydrate binder. Starch has hydroxyl groups that can promote interaction with silicon particles using multifaceted hydrogen bonds. Maleic anhydride esterified potato starch can produce a binder that maintains the cycle stability of lithium-ion batteries. Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy spectra show wavelengths of 1776 cm -1 and 1855 cm -1 . Thermal gravimetric analysis curves decreased in weight percent by 80 % at 286 °C. Carbon-13 nuclear magnetic resonance spectra show high peaks at 3.37 ppm, 3.65 ppm, 4.56 ppm, 5.09 ppm, and 6.22 ppm. Scanning electron microscope images show that the morphological change in esterified starch was due to the increased length of starch and the maleic anhydride grafted onto the starch granules. The cyclic voltammetry curve shows that the reduction peak is around 0.16 V, and the oxidation peak is around 0.38 V and 0.56 V. Nyquist plots show a small half circle, indicating that the electrode's solid-electrolyte interphase layer is low. The seeds of Flax (Linum usitatissimum) extrude mucilage (FSM) that has a diverse and wide range of applications, especially in the food industry and as a pharmaceutical ingredient. FSM has been blended with several food and dairy products to improve gelling ability, optical properties, taste, and user compliance. The FSM is recognized as a foaming, encapsulating, emulsifying, suspending, film-forming, and gelling agent for several pharmaceutical preparations and healthcare materials. Owing to stimuli (pH) -responsive swelling-deswelling characteristics, high swelling indices at different physiological pHs of the human body, and biocompatibility, FSM is considered a smart material for intelligent, targeted, and controlled drug delivery applications through conventional and advanced drug delivery systems. FSM has been modified through carboxymethylation, acetylation, copolymerization, and electrostatic complexation to get the desired properties for pharma, food, and healthcare products. Background: The site of death is a crucial factor associated with the tumor's progression and complications arising from it; therefore, analyzing nationwide patterns in place of death is essential. The present paper aims to evaluate the disparities in place of death for malignant neoplasm of the meninges using the CDC-WONDER (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Wide-ranging ONline Data for Epidemiologic Research) database over 22 years (1999-2020)., Methods: CDC-WONDER data from 1999 to 2020 were analyzed to investigate mortality trends related to malignant neoplasm of the meninges. Data selection ensured inclusivity of all races, with confidentiality and death count thresholds considered. Demographics encompassed Census Regions, all genders, races, and 10-year age groups, along with a five-year forecast. Microsoft Excel (Microsoft Corporation, Redmond, Washington) and R Software (R Foundation, Boston, Massachusetts) were used for data processing and statistical analysis, with visualization through ARIMA modeling., Results: Cumulative home and hospice deaths were analyzed based on overall age, gender, race, and region, demonstrating that home and hospice deaths increased overall, particularly in the 65-74 and 75-84 age groups, and more so in females. White individuals showed increasing trends, while Black or African American individuals remained stable. Regionally, the South had the highest increase, while the Northeast remained stagnant., Conclusion: There is a concerning upward trend in home or hospice deaths among individuals with malignant neoplasm of the meninges, particularly within the 65-84 age group, in females, among White individuals, and in the Southern region. Objective: This research was conducted to assess access to assisted reproductive technologies (ART) and the current status of the in vitro fertilization (IVF) program that have been implemented in Indonesia over the last 10 years., Methods: We established a retrospective cohort study and descriptive analysis of the current state of access to infertility care in Indonesia. The data were collected from all IVF centers, clinics, and hospitals in Indonesia from 2011 to 2020, including the number of IVF clinics, total ART cycles, retrieved fresh and frozen embryos, average age of IVF patients, IVF pregnancy rate, and causes of infertility., Results: The number of reported fertility clinics in Indonesia has increased from 14 clinics in 2011 to 41 clinics by 2020. As many as 69 569 ART cycles were conducted over the past 10 years, of which 51 892 cycles used fresh embryos and 17 677 cycles used frozen embryos. The leading cause of consecutive infertility diagnosis was male infertility. Nearly half of the women who underwent IVF procedures (48.9%) were under 35 years old. The pregnancy rate outcome of women who underwent IVF ranged from 24.6% to 37.3%., Conclusion: Developments in ART in Indonesia have led to improvements in the ART cycles performed throughout the 10 year period. The amounts of parasite DNA in soil samples from different playgrounds and other public areas can help identify areas of possible microbe transmission and give indications of the possible occurrence of parasite infection in nearby communities. We collected 207 soil samples from parks in Paiute indigenous tribal areas in southwestern Utah and from the higher income city of St. George, Utah, and tested them for 11 parasites that can cause human disease. Molecular tests revealed an elevated odds ratio (OR) of 3.072 (range, 1.114-8.065) for detecting the helminth Trichuris trichiura and an elevated OR of 3.036 (range, 1.101-7.966) for any protozoa (not including Acanthamoeba) in the tribal land playgrounds compared with St. George parks. These findings support previous studies showing that areas in lower socioeconomic communities, especially marginalized communities, tend to have more parasites in the soil, which may lead to higher disease prevalence rates.

Itraconazole (ITZ) is a broad-spectrum antifungal for superficial subcutaneous and systemic fungal infections. This study aimed to enhance the antifungal activity of ITZ using surfactin A (SA), a cyclic lipopeptide produced by the SA-producing Bacillus strain NH-100, possessing strong antifungal activity. SA was extracted, and ITZ-loaded SA micelles formulations were prepared via a single-pot rinsing method and characterized by particle size, zeta potential, and infrared spectroscopy. In vitro dissolution at pH 1.2, as well as hemolysis studies, was also carried out. The fabricated formulations were stable and non-spherical in shape, with an average size of about 179 nm, and FTIR spectra depicted no chemical interaction among formulation components. ITZ-loaded micelles showed decreased hemolysis activity in comparison to pure ITZ. The drug released followed the Korsmeyer-Peppas model, having R 2 0.98 with the diffusion release mechanism. In an acidic buffer, drug release of all prepared formulations was in the range of 73-89% in 2 h. The molecular simulation showed the outstanding binding and stability profile of the ITZ-SA complex. The aromatic ring of the ITZ mediates a π-alkyl contact with a side chain in the SA. It can be concluded that ITZ-loaded micelles, owing to significant enhanced antifungal activity up to 6-fold due to the synergistic effect of SA, can be a promising drug delivery platform for delivery of poorly soluble ITZ.

Hematological disorders are common medical ailments constituting an important cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide, which may be managed efficiently using different prophetic medicine remedies as adjuvants to current therapeutics. Prophetic medicine includes the body of knowledge about medicine that has been derived from the deeds, customs (sunnah), ahadith (sayings), actions, and agreements of Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him. This review article aims at exploring the magnitude of therapeutic benefits of prophetic medicine remedies as adjuvant treatments to many different types of hematological disorders. Herein, we reviewed many published research studies throughout the literature to delineate the potential therapeutic benefits of prophetic remedies on hematological disorders. Several types of hematological disorders may benefit from prophetic medicine remedies that are rich in natural antioxidants that combat oxidative stress-induced harm e.g. nigella sativa, oral honey, camel milk and urine, Ajwa date fruits, olive oil, Zamzam water and figs. Many prophetic medicine remedies were reported to decrease the hematological cytotoxicity effects induced by different chemicals and are beneficial in treating anemias e.g. iron deficiency anemia, sickle cell anemia, thalassemia, coagulopathies and hematological malignancies as leukemia and myeloma. These remedies treat or alleviate the different hematological disorders using different mechanisms e.g. modulating the immune function, treating deficiencies of different substances, protecting against toxins-induced cytotoxicity, decreasing platelets aggregation, suppressing clotting factors activation, exerting antineoplastic effects (enhancing cancer cells cytotoxicity) and inhibiting angiogenesis. Background: The use of synthetic and semi-synthetic materials in drug delivery systems has associated drawbacks like costly synthesis, toxicity, and biocompatibility issues. Therefore, there is a need to introduce novel materials to overcome such issues. Naturally occurring and water-swellable polysaccharides are advantageous in overcoming the above-mentioned issues. Therefore, we are reporting a novel hydrogel (SSH) isolated from the seeds of Salvia spinosa as a sustained release material., Methods: SSH was explored for its pH-dependent and salt-responsive swelling before and after compression in a tablet form. Stimuli-responsive swelling and deswelling were also monitored at pH 7.4 and pH 1.2 in deionized water (DW) and normal saline and DW and ethanol. The sustained-release potential of SSH-based tablets was monitored at gastrointestinal tract (GIT) pH. The transit of SSH tablets was ascertained through an X-ray study., Results: The swelling of SSH in powder and tablet form was found in the order of DW > pH 7.4 > pH 6.8 > pH 1.2. An inverse relation was found between the swelling of SSH and the concentration of the salt solution. The SSH showed stimuli-responsive swelling and de-swelling before and after compression, indicating the unaltered nature of SSH even in a closely packed form, i.e., tablets. Background: Chalcones are precursors of flavonoids and exhibit a broad spectrum of pharmacological activity., Objective: As anti-inflammatory agents, two series of chalcone derivatives and chalcone-based oximes were synthesized and characterized. To integrate the tetramethylpyrazine moiety into these novel molecules, the multifunctional natural chemical ligustrazine was employed., Methods: A variety of newly synthesized ligustrazine-based chalcones were utilized as precursors for the synthesis of new oximes and their inhibitory activity against COX-1, COX-2, and LOX-5 enzymes were compared., Results: The conversion of ketones to their oxime derivatives increased the effectiveness of COX-1 and COX-2 inhibition. Due to the substituted ether groups, oxime derivative 5d had the lowest IC 50 values of 0.027 ± 0.004 μM and 0.150 ± 0.027 μM for COX-1 and COX-2 isoenzymes, respectively. Notably, the oxime derivative's highest effectiveness is conferred by the presence of methoxymethoxy or hydroxy groups at the C-3 and C-4 positions on the phenyl ring. The 6b derivative with a long alkyl chain ether group was shown to be the most powerful 5-LOX inhibitor. All compounds were also assessed for their ability to inhibit nitric oxide generation and LPS-induced IL-6, IL-1β, and TNF-α production in RAW 264.7 macrophages. The current study reports the fabrication of co-combination gel using Pregabalin and Withania coagulans fruit extract to validate its effectiveness for neuropathic pain in chronic constriction injury (CCI) rat models. Three topical gels were prepared using Carbopol 934 through a pseudo-ternary phase diagram incorporating the Pregabalin (2.5%), Withania coagulans extract (2%), and co-combination of both Pregabalin (2.5%) and Withania coagulans extract (2%). Gels were characterized. FTIR showed a successful polymeric network of the gel without any interaction. The drug distribution at the molecular level was confirmed by XRD. The AFM images topographically indicated the rough surface of gels with a size range from 0.25 to 330 nm. DSC showed the disappearance of sharp peaks of the drug and extract, showing successful incorporation into the polymeric network of gels. The in vitro drug release of co-combination gel was 73% over 48 h. The mechanism of drug release by combination gel was Higuchi+ fickian with values of n (0.282) and R2 (0.947). An in vivo study for pain assessment via four methods: (i) heat hyperalgesia, (ii) cold allodynia, (iii) mechano-hyperalgesia, and (iv) dynamic mechano-allodynia, confirmed that topical treatment with co-combination gel reduced the pain significantly as indicated by the p value: R1 (p < 0.001), R2 (p < 0.001), R3 (p < 0.015), and R4 (p < 0.0344). The significance order was R2 (****) > R1 (***) > R3 (**) > R4 (*) > R5 (ns).

The current study depicts the comparative effects of nanogel using Withania coagulans extract, pregabalin alone, and a co-combination gel. The gels prepared were then analyzed for conductivity, viscosity, spread ability, globule size, zeta potential, polydispersity index, and TEM. The globule size of the co-combination gel, determined by zeta sizer, was found to be (329 ± 0.573 nm). FTIR analysis confirms the successful development of gel, without any interaction. Drug distribution at the molecular level was confirmed by XRD. DSC revealed no bigger thermal changes. TEM images revealed spherical molecules with sizes of 200 nm for the co-combination gel. In vivo studies were carried out by infliction of third degree burn wounds on rat skin, and they confirmed that pregabalin and Withania coagulans heals the wound more effectively, with a wound contraction rate of 89.95%, compared to remaining groups. Anti-inflammatory activity (IL-6 and TNF-α), determined by the ELISA technique, shows that the co-combination gel group reduces the maximum inflammation with TNF-α value (132.2 pg/mL), compared to the control (140.22 pg/mL). Similarly, the IL-6 value was found to be (78 pg/mL) for the co-combination gel and (81 pg/mL) in the case of the control. Histopathologically, the co-combination gel heals wounds more quickly, compared to individual gel. These outcomes depict that a co-combination gel using plant extracts and drugs can be successfully used to treat burn injury.
