Amaç: Stent içi restenoz (SR), perkütan koroner girişimin (PKG) önemli komplikasyonlarından biridir. Eozinofil ile SR arasındaki ilişkiyi ortaya çıkaran çok sayıda çalışma olmasına rağmen, literatürde eozinofil-lenfosit oranı (ELO)’nın SR gelişimi ile ilişkisi hakkında veri bulunmamaktadır. Bu çalışmada, hastaların başvuru ELO değerlerinin SR ile ilişkisini araştırmayı amaçladık. Yöntemler: Çalışmaya, daha önce koroner stent takılmış olup hastanemize stabil angina nedeniyle başvuran ve tekrar koroner anjiyografisi yapılan 314 hasta dahil edildi. Hastaların verileri retrospektif olarak incelendi. Anjiyografik olarak SR tespit edilen 197 kişi hasta grubuna alındı, stentleri açık olan 117 hasta ise kontrol grubuna dahil edildi. Bulgular: Yaş, cinsiyet, hipertansiyon, diabetes mellitus, LDL-kolesterol, HDL-kolesterol, platelet sayısı, platelet-lenfosit oranı (PLO), hemoglobin düzeyleri ve sol ventrikül ejeksiyon fraksiyonu (LVEF) ölçümleri bakımından gruplar arasında anlamlı bir fark yoktu. Başvuruda bakılmış olan kan beyaz küre sayısı (WBC), nötrofil, eozinofil, C-reaktif protein (CRP), ELO ve nötrofil-lenfosit oranı (NLO) değerleri SR grubunda kontrol grubuna göre istatistiksel olarak anlamlı şekilde daha yüksek lenfosit değerleri daha düşüktü. Tüm hastalar ELO düzeylerine göre iki gruba ayrıldığında, yüksek-ELO grubunda düşük-ELO grubuna kıyasla daha sık SR görüldü. Başvuru ELO değerinin ≥0,745 olması durumunda, SR’u %64 sensitivite ve %61 spesifite ile öngördürebildiği saptandı. Sonuç: Bu çalışmada ELO değerleri kontrol grubuna kıyasla SR grubunda anlamlı olarak daha yüksek bulundu. Çalışmadan elde ettiğimiz bulgular ışığında kolay ve ucuz bir yöntem olan ELO, SR açısından yüksek riskli hastaların belirlenmesine yardımcı olabilir ve yüksek ELO, SR için bir öngördürücü olarak kullanılabilir., Objective: Stent restenosis (SR) is an important compli­cation of percutaneous coronary intervention. There are many studies explored the relation of eosinophils with SR, however, there is no data about relationship between eo­sinophil-lymphocyte ratio (ELR) and SR. In this study we aimed to investigate the relationship between the value of ELR on admission and SR. Methods: The study was included 314 patients who had been applied a coronary stent implantation and they were admitted to cardiology clinic with stabile angina and un­derwent repeat coronary angiography. The data obtained from patients were analyzed retrospectively. The patient group was consisted of 197 patients who were diagnosed as SR, and the control group was consisted of 117 pa­tients whose stents were patent angiographically. Results: The groups were similar in terms of age, gender, hypertension, diabetes mellitus, LDL-C, HDL-C, platelet count, platelet-lymphocyte ratio (PLR), hemoglobin and left ventricle ejection fraction (LVEF). White blood cell (WBC), neutrophil, eosinophil, C-reactive protein (CRP), ELR and neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) on admission were higher in the SR group compared to the controls. All patients were categorized into two groups according to ELR values and SR was more frequent in the high ELR group compared to low ELR group. An ELR value of ≥0.745 predicted SR with 64% sensitivity and 61% specif­ity. Conclusion: In this study ELR was found statistically higher in SR patients compared to the controls. Accord­ing to our data ELR as an inexpensive and easy method, may contribute to determination of high risk patients and increased ELR can be used as a predictor of SR.

Introduction: Stent thrombosis, an iatrogenic disease, is an important complication of percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). The platelet to lymphocyte ratio (PLR) has been recently proposed to be a marker of thrombosis and inflammation, mainly in cancer patients. The aim of this study was to determine whether PLR in patients presenting with acute ST elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) is predictive of the development of stent thrombosis.Patients and Methods: We retrospectively analyzed the clinical, hematologic, and angiographic data of total 201 patients (mean age 59.8±13.1 years, 3 out of 4 were males) who had undergone PCI for acute STEMI and a further control coronary angiography. 54 of them were diagnosed as stent thrombosis and formed the patient group and 147 patients matched with patient group in terms of age, gender, traditional coronary risk factors, stent implantation procedure, and stent type and length formed the control group in whom the stent implanted during primary PCI was found patent in the repeat coronary angiography.Results: The pre-procedural PLR was significantly higher in patients with stent thrombosis compared to patients without stent thrombosis (176±68 vs. 135±62; p, Giriş: İyatrojenik bir hastalık olan stent trombozu, perkutan koroner girişimin (PCI) önemli bir komplikasyonudur. BSTRACT Objective: the neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio (NLR), the platelet/lymphocyte ratio (PLR), and uric acid (UA) are inflammatory markers in cardiovascular disease. However, there are not enough data on infarct-related artery (IRA) patency in ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI). We aimed to investigate the association of NLR, PLR, and UA with IRA patency before percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) in STEMI. Methods: the study was designed as a retrospective study. Three hundred and twenty-four consecutive patients with STEMI were divided into two groups according to pre-PCI Thrombolysis in Myocardial Infarction flow grade (TIMI). Patients with a TIMI flow grade of into the spontaneous reperfusion (SR) group, while patients with TIMI flow grade of 0, 1 and 2 were placed into the non-SR group. the χ2 and independentsamples t-test, Mann-Whitney U test, multivariate logistic regression analysis, and receiver-operator characteristic (ROC) curve analysis were used for the statistical analysis. Results: PLR, NLR, and UA values in the SR group were lower than in the non-SR group (p190, UA>5.75 mg/dL, and NLR>4.2 predicted non-SR. the sensitivity and specificity of the association between low IRA TIMI flow grade and PLR were 88% and 84%, 72% and 66% for UA, and 74% and 44% for NLR, respectively. Conclusion: We determined that PLR and UA are novel predictors of IRA patency before PCI. We suggest that PLR and UA may be used in riskstratifying STEMI. (

Yuksel, Murat/0000-0003-2636-5211 WOS: 000364114800011 Aim: To investigate the predisposing factors, demographic and clinical characteristics, echocardiographic and prognostic features, and Outcomes of patients with native valve infective endocarditis (IE) in Turkey in a multicenter based study. Materials and methods: The study population consisted Of 15,8 consecutive patients with native valve IE (NVE). Data on demographics, medical history, medications, clinical procedures, predisposing factors, clinical examination, microbiology, antibiotic therapy, echocardiography, surgery, complications, and outcome were collected and compared. Results: The mean age of the patients was 47 19 (range 13-87). Seventy seven patients (49%) Were female. Of the 158. NVE patients, 49 died during hospitalization. Mortality rate was 31%. Twenty eight patients experienced a stroke. The patients who died during hospitalization were significantly older than the survivors and had higher mean heart rate, white blood cell, C reactive protein, creatinine, poor NYHA functional etas's, multiple vegetations and large vegetations. Culture negative endocarditis was seen in 54 eases (34%). Staphylococci were the most common causative organisms (28%). Eighty patients had undergone surgical treatment (51%). Hemoglobin, presence of multiple vegetation, vegetation size. (>10 mm), septic shock and poor NYHA Class on admission were independent risks for in hospital mortality and stroke Beside these variables C. reactive Protein was also an independent risk for in hospital mortality Conclusion: Native valve IE in Turkey was associated with high in hospital mortality. Rheumatic heart disease continues to be the most common underlying heart condition and echocardiographie findings on admission were the most important independent predictors of mortality or stroke.

Amaç: Bu çalışmada kliniğimize başvuran, karotis arter hastalığı tanısı almış ve karotis arter stentleme (KAS) ile revaskülarize edilen hastaların özelliklerini ve orta vadeli klinik sonuçlarını sunmayı amaçladık. Yöntemler: Tek merkezli, geriye dönük Mayıs 2012- Mayıs 2014 tarihleri arasında karotis artere müdahale gerekliliği olan ve KAS işlemini kabul eden hastalar çalışmaya dahil edildi. Hastanın klinik özellikleri ve işlem ile ilgili verileri hasta dosyaları taranarak elde edildi. Daha sonra taburculuk sonrası hastanın yaşayıp yaşamadığı ve işlem sonrası yeni inme geçirip geçirmediği hastane kayıtlarından ve/veya telefon ile öğrenildi. Bulgular: Dahil edilme kriterlerini sağlayan 26 hasta çalışmaya alındı. Hastaların %69’u bayan olup, yaş ortalaması 66±9 yıl saptandı. Hastaların %73’ü semptomatik olup, %73’ünde hipertansiyon, %27’sinde diabetes mellitus, %39’unda hiperlipidemi, % 69’unda koroner arter hastalığı ve %31’inde aktif sigara içiciliği mevcuttu. Bütün hastalarda self ekspandable stent ve distal emboli koruyucu cihaz kullanıldı. İşlem ile ilişkili olarak 18 hastaya sol, 6 hastaya sağ ve 2 hastaya ayrı seanslarda iki taraflı olmak üzere 26 hastaya toplamda 28 başarılı KAS işlemi yapıldı. Sadece 1 hastaya rezidü darlık nedeniyle ikinci stent yerleştirme ihtiyacı oldu. İşlemle ilişkili sadece 1 hastada 24 saate tamamen düzelen hava embolisine bağlı güç kaybı oldu. Hastalar tekrarlayan inme ve ölüm açısından 11,5±8 (en az 2-en çok 27, median 10) ay takip edildi. Takip süresince hiçbir hastada tekrarlayan inme ve trans iskemik atak saptanmadı. Sadece 1 hastada 8 ay sonra ölüm gözlendi. Sonuç: Deneyimli merkezlerde KAS başarılı bir şekilde uygulanmakta olup komplikasyon riski oldukça düşüktür. KAS’ın orta vadeli klinik sonuçları oldukça yüz güldürücüdür. Objective: In this study, we aimed to present the characteristics and short-term clinical outcomes of the patients admitted to our clinic with a diagnosis of carotid artery disease and revascularized by carotid artery stenting (CAS). Methods: The study was retrospective and a singlecentered study. Between May 2012 and May 2014 the patients with an indication for carotid artery intervention and accepted CAS procedure were included in the study. Clinical characteristics and procedural data of the patients were obtained by scanning patient files. After discharge, hospital records were scanned and patients were called to learn whether or not patients were alive and that they have suffered a recent stroke. Results: We included 26 patients that meet the inclusion criteria in the study. 69% of patients were female with a mean age of 66 ± 9 years. 73% of patients were symptomatic, 73% had hypertension, 27% had diabetes mellitus, 39% had hyperlipidemia, 69% had coronary artery disease and 31% were active smoker. In all patients, selfexpandable stents and distal embolic protection devices were used. 18 left, six right, and two bilateral (in separate sessions) carotid arteries were stented with a total of 26 patients and 28 successful CAS. Due to residual stenosis a second stent was implanted only in one patient. One patient experienced a partial muscle weakening in upper extremity due to an air embolism, which recovered spontaneously in 24 hours. Patients were followed for 11.5 ± 8 (minimum 2-maximum 27, median 10) months. During follow-up, no patients had recurrent stroke and transischemic attack. One patient died after eight months of CAS. Conclusion: CAS is being successfully applied with a very low risk of complications in experienced centers. Short-term clinical results of CAS are quite satisfactory.

Sağ ventrikül (RV) karmaşık anatomik yapısı nedeniyle ekokardiyografi ile değerlendirmek zordur. Akut miyokard infarktüsünde (AMİ) sağ ventrikül fonksiyonları genelde standart ekokardiyografi parametreleri kullanılarak incelenmiştir. Biz bu çalışmada AMİ'li hastalarda yeni ekokardiyografi metodlarını da kullanarak infarktüs lokalizasyonunun sağ ventrikül fonksiyonları üzerindeki etkilerini [sağ ventrikül EF, triküspid anüler hareket (TAPSE), triküspid anüler pik sistolik akım(Sm) hızı, sağ ventrikül MPİ ve diastolik fonksiyonları (konvansiyonel ve doku doppler ile)] karşılaştırmayı amaçladık.Çalışmaya toplam 89 AMİ'li hasta alındı. Bu hastaların 39 tanesi anteriyor , 25 tanesi inferior, 25 tanesi inferior+sağ ventrikül Mİ idi.Tüm hastalara ilk 24-72 saat içinde rutin ekokardiografik ölçümlere ek olarak sağ ventrikül doku dopler, RVEF, myokard performans indeksi (MPİ) ve TAPSE ölçümleri alındı.Anteriyor ve inferiyor miyokard infarktüsü ile karşılaştırıldığında sağ ventrikül tutulumu olan inferior Mİ'de sağ ventrikül fonksiyonlarının bozulmuş olduğu görüldü. Objective: We sought to evaluate our clinical experience and short-term results of percutaneous closure of patent ductus arteriosus (PDA). Methods: We studied 20 patients (17 female, mean age 24±8 years) undergoing percutaneous closure of PDA between March 2010-March 2013 in our clinic. Amplatzer duct occluder (ADO) I was used in 13 patients and ADO II was used in 7 patients for PDA closure. Clinical characteristics of patients, properties of percutaneous closure intervention, complications and short-term results are evaluated. Results: The mean ductus waist diameter measured by angiographic examination was 5±2 mm (2-9 mm). Procedure was successfully performed in all patients. Occluder device embolization was occurred in one patient in whom device was retrieved by snare catheter and PDA was successfully closed with same device. The early total occlusion rate was 85%. Occlusion rate as determined by echocardiographic control performed the day after was 95% whereas 100% at first month. In the follow-up of 19±9 months, no complications were observed. Conclusion: Percutaneous closure of PDA using ADO I and II devices are safe and effective., Amaç: Bu çalışmada erişkinlerde patent ductus arteriosusların (PDA) perkütan yolla kapatılması işlemindeki klinik deneyimlerimiz ve erken dönem sonuçlarımızı değerlendirmeyi amaçladık. Yöntemler: Kliniğimizde Mart 2010-Mart 2013 tarihleri arasında PDA tanısı ile perkütan kapatma işlemi uygulanan 20 hasta (ortalama yaşı 24±8 yıl, 17 kadın) çalışmaya dahil edildi. PDA kapatma işleminde 13 hastada Amplatzer duct ocluder (ADO) I cihazı, 7 hastada ise ADO II cihazı kullanıldı. Hastaların klinik özellikleri, yapılan perkütan kapatma girişimlerinin özellikleri, gelişen komplikasyonlar ve erken dönem sonuçları değerlendirildi. Bulgular: Anjiografik ölüçümde duktus en dar yeri ortalaması 5±2 mm (2-9 mm) ölçüldü. İşlem tüm hastalarda başarılı sonuçlandı. Yalnızca bir hastada ADO I cihazı bırakıldıktan hemen sonra embolize oldu. Embolize olan cihaz yakalayıcı kateter kullanılarak başarılı bir şekilde geri alındı ve aynı cihaz ile başarılı bir şekilde PDA kapatıldı. İşlem sonrası erken kapanma oranı %85, birinci gün ekokardiyografi kontrolünde tam kapanma oranı %95, 1. ay kontrolde kapanma oranı %100 izlendi. Ortalama 19±9 ay (2-37 ay) boyunca izlenen hastalarda herhangi bir komplikasyon izlenmedi. Sonuç: ADO I ve ADO II cihazlarıyla perkütan PDA kapatma işlemi başarılı ve güvenilir bir yöntemdir.

PATIENTS AND METHODS: 2242 consecutive patients admitted to the Cardiology Outpatient Clinics of 17 different tertiary Health Care Centers with at least one AF attack determined on electrocardiographic examination, were included in the study. Among the patients included in the study, 631 individuals aged 75 years and older were analyzed. RESULTS: The mean age of the patients was determined as 80.3 +/- 4.2 years. The most frequent type of AF in geriatric population was the persistent-permanent type with a percentage of 88%. 60% of the patients with AF were female. Hypertension was the most common co-morbidity in patients with AF (76%). While in 16% of patients a history of stroke, transient ischemic attack or systemic thromboembolism was present, a history of bleeding was present in 14% of the patients. 37% of the patients were on warfarin treatment and 60% of the patients were on aspirin treatment. In 38% of the patients who were on oral anticoagulant treatment, INR level was in the effective range. CONCLUSIONS: The rate of anticoagulant use in the elderly with AF was 37% and considering the reason of this situation was the medication not being prescribed by the physician, one should pay more attention particularly in the field of treatment.

Objective: heart failure (HF) is a progressive clinical syndrome. SELFIE-TR is a registry illustrating the overall HF patient profile of Turkey. Herein, all-cause mortality (ACM) data during follow-up were provided. Methods: this is a prospective outcome analysis of SELFIE-TR. Patients were classified as acute HF (AHF) versus chronic HF (CHF) and HF with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF), HF with mid-range ejection fraction, and HF with preserved ejection fraction and were followed up for ACM. Results: there were 1054 patients with a mean age of 63.3±13.3 years and with a median follow-up period of 16 (7-17) months. Survival data within 1 year were available in 1022 patients. PMID:31674928 Objective: Normal reference values for the cardiac chambers are widely based on cohorts from European or American populations. In this study, we aimed to obtain normal echocardiographic measurements of healthy Turkish volunteers to reveal the age, gender, and geographical region dependent differences between Turkish populations and other populations. Methods: Among 31 collaborating institutions from all regions of Turkey, 1154 healthy volunteers were enrolled in this study. Predefined protocols were used for all participants during echocardiographic examination. Blood biochemical parameters were also obtained for all patients on admission. The American Society of Echocardiography and European Association of Cardiovascular Imaging recommendations were used to assess the echocardiographic cardiac chamber quantification. Results: The study included 1154 volunteers (men: 609; women: 545), with a mean age of 33.5±11 years. Compared to men, women had a smaller body surface area, lower blood pressure and heart rate, lower hemoglobin, total cholesterol, lower low-density lipoprotein (LDL) levels, and higher high density lipoprotein (HDL) levels. Cardiac chambers were also smaller in women and their size varied with age. When we compared the regions in Turkey, the lowest values of left cardiac chamber indices were seen in the Marmara region and the highest values were observed in the Mediterranean region. Regarding the right cardiac indices, the Mediterranean region reported the lowest values, while the Black Sea region and the Eastern Anatolia region reported the highest values. Conclusion: This is the first study that evaluates the normal echocardiographic reference values for a healthy Turkish population. These results may provide important reference values that could be useful in routine clinical practice as well as in further clinical trials.

Multiple skleroz (MS), merkezi sinir sisteminde (MSS) beyaz madde ön planda olmak üzere fokal demiyelinize plaklarla karakterize kronik inflamatuar bir hastalıktır. Bu açıdan MS; kronik, otoimmün, inflamatuar, demiyelinizan ve nörodejeneratif bir hastalık olarak tanımlanır. Multiple sklerozun akciğer, üriner sistem ve gastrointestinal sistem benzeri farklı organlarda oluşturduğu anormallikler bilinmesine rağmen kardiyovasküler sistem üzerindeki etkileri iyi bilinmemektedir. Literatürde sağ ventrikül (SğV) ve sol ventrikül (SV) fonksiyonlarını inceleyen az sayıda çalışma vardır ve bu çalışmaların sonuçları çelişkili olarak görülmüştür. MS’de kardiyovasküler sistem disfonksiyonu sık rastlanan bir bulgudur. MS hastalarındaki kardiyovasküler sistem bozuklukları otonom sinir sistemi disfonksiyonu sebebiyle olabilir. Kardiyovasküler sempatik ve parasempatik testlerdeki anormallikler birçok yazar tarafından rapor edilmiştir. MS’deki kardiyak etkilenmenin, yeni ekokardiyografik yöntemler ile daha fazla araştırılmasına ihtiyaç vardır. Strain (S) ve strain rate (SR) ekokardiyografinin, MS’deki subklinik miyokardiyal fonksiyon bozukluğunu göstermede yararlı olabileceğinden hareketle böyle bir çalışma planladık. Çalışmamız, 2016 yılında, Nöroloji Anabilim Dalı polikliniğine başvuran ve MS tanısı alan 44 hastadan oluşan hasta ve 40 sağlıklı bireyi içeren kontrol grupları üzerinde yapıldı. Bireylerin ekokardiyografi ile kardiyak fonksiyonları incelendi. Doppler kayıtlarından S ve SR verileri elde edildi. Hasta ve kontrol gruplarının yaş ve cinsiyet gibi değişkenleri her iki grupta benzerdi. Grupları karşılaştırdığımızda, hasta grubunda diyastolik fonksiyon bozukluğunun daha fazla olduğunu bulduk. MS hastalarındaki mitral anüler hızları sağlıklı gruba göre anlamlı olarak daha düşük ölçtük. MS hastalarında kontrol grubuyla karşılaştırıldığında, bazal lateral, bazal anterior, mid inferior segmentlerdeki strain değerleri anlamlı olarak daha düşüktü. MS hastalarında SV ortalama S değerini anlamlı olarak daha düşük ölçtük (%-18,26±1,22 ve %-19,02±1,07, p=0,003). SR değerleri karşılaştırıldığında kontrol grubuna göre MS hastalarında apikal lateral, mid septal, apikal septal, apikal anterior, apikal inferior segmentlere ait strain rate değerleri anlamlı olarak daha düşüktü. MS hastalarında SV ortalama SR değerini anlamlı olarak daha düşük ölçtük (-1,32±0,14 s־¹ ve -1,40±0,15 s־¹, p=0,008). Sonuç olarak, MS’de S görüntüleme tekniği ile sol ventrikül fonksiyonlarının, subklinik düzeyde bozulduğunu saptadık. MS’deki subklinik miyokardiyal fonksiyon bozukluğunun, S görüntüleme tekniği gibi hassas ve yeni yöntemlerle araştırılmasının faydalı olacağını düşünüyoruz. In this aspect MS; chronic, autoimmune, inflammatory, demyelinating and neurodegenerative disorder is defined as. Although MS causes functional abnormalities in different organs of the body including the urinary bladder, lungs and the gastrointestinal tract, the effect of MS on cardiac function is not well known. There are only a few studies in the literature related to function of the left or right ventricles and the findings have been conflicting. Cardiovascular system dysfunction is a frequent symptom observed in MS patients. It is thought to be an effect of autonomic nervous system dysfunction. Abnormalities of cardiovascular sympathetic and parasympathetic tests have been reported by several authors. Cardiac affected in MS, there needs to be investigated further with a new echocardiographic methods. Strain(S) and Strain Rate(SR) echocardiography, may be useful in predicting the subclinical myocardial dysfunction in MS, therefore we have planned such a study. Our study, in 2016, admitted to the Department of Neurology clinic and patients consisting of 44 patients diagnosed with MS and control groups was carried out involving 40 healthy individuals. Individuals were analyzed cardiac function by echocardiography. S and SR data were obtained from the Doppler recordings. Variables such as age and sex of the patient and control groups were similar in both groups. When comparing groups, we found that more of diyastolic dysfunction in patients. The MS patients had a significantly reduced mitral anuler velocity compared with healthy subjects. Left ventricular bazal lateral, bazal anterior, mid inferior strain values were significantly lower in MS group when compared the control group. The patients with MS have also decreased mean left ventricular strain score (%-18.26±1.22 vs %-19.02±1.07, p=0.003). Left ventricular apical lateral, mid septal, apical septal, apical anterior, apical inferior strain rate values were lower in MS group when compared the control group. The patients with MS have also decreased mean left ventricular strain rate score (-1.32±0.14 s־¹ vs -1.40±0.15 s־¹, p=0.008). As a result, we found the impaired left ventricular functions in subclinical level by using the technique of strain imaging in MS group. We are thinking that, subclinical myocardial dysfunction in MS should be investigated by more precise and new techniques such as strain imaging technique. Objective: We aimed to assess relationship between the severity of coronary atherosclerosis assessed by SYNTAX score (SS) and neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio (NLR) in patients with ST elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI. Objective: The neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio (NLR), the platelet/lymphocyte ratio (PLR), and uric acid (UA) are inflammatory markers in cardiovascular disease. However, there are not enough data on infarct-related artery (IRA) patency in ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI). We aimed to investigate the association of NLR, PLR, and UA with IRA patency before percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) in STEMI. Methods: The study was designed as a retrospective study. Three hundred and twenty-four consecutive patients with STEMI were divided into two groups according to pre-PCI Thrombolysis in Myocardial Infarction flow grade (TIMI). Patients with a TIMI flow grade of into the spontaneous reperfusion (SR) group, while patients with TIMI flow grade of 0, 1 and 2 were placed into the non-SR group. The χ2 and independentsamples t-test, Mann-Whitney U test, multivariate logistic regression analysis, and receiver-operator characteristic (ROC) curve analysis were used for the statistical analysis. Results: PLR, NLR, and UA values in the SR group were lower than in the non-SR group (p190, UA>5.75 mg/dL, and NLR>4.2 predicted non-SR. The sensitivity and specificity of the association between low IRA TIMI flow grade and PLR were 88% and 84%, 72% and 66% for UA, and 74% and 44% for NLR, respectively. PMID: 25537998 Abstract: Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate the relationship between atrial electromechanical delay (EMD) measured with tissue Doppler imaging (TDI) and left atrial (LA) mechanical functions in patients with ischemic stroke and compare them with healthy controls. Methods: Thirty patients with ischemic stroke were enrolled into this cross-sectional, observational study. The control group consisted of 35 age- and gender-matched apparently healthy individuals patients. Acute cerebral infarcts of probable embolic origin were diagnosed via imaging and were confirmed by a neurologist. Echocardiographically, time intervals from the beginning of P wave to beginning of A wave from the lateral and septal mitral and right ventricular tricuspid annuli in TDI were recorded. The differences between these intervals gave the mechanical delays (inter- and intra-atrial). Left atrial (LA) volumes were measured using the biplane area-length method, and LA mechanical function parameters were calculated.
