Objectives: The aim of this study was to evaluate the level of knowledge of first-aid of healthcare personnel in a training and research hospital and to assess the necessity for refresher training. Methods: The study data were obtained from 2 questionnaires, each consisting of 4 sections, one applied before training and one after training. The first section of the first questionnaire applied pre-training comprised personal information and opinions of the training. The first section of the second questionnaire applied post-training questioned the participant's views on the training. In the second section of both questionnaires, opinions were asked of the benefit and necessity for the training modules, and in the third section, opinions of the duration of the training. The fourth section of both questionnaires was the same with questions to determine the level of knowledge of the participants. Results: The study included a total of 261 healthcare personnel, comprising 102 (39.1%) males and 159 (60.9%) females. While 32.6% of the respondents had previously received first-aid training apart from professional training, 67.4% had not received such training. Compared to their pre-training views, a statistically significant increase was determined in the post-training views of the respondents on the benefit of the modules related to patient approach, basic life support, and managing bleeding and shock, and the necessity of the training module on bleeding and shock. In the evaluation which showed the extent of the development of the knowledge of the participants pre- and post-training, the rate of correct answers was found to be statistically significantly high after training compared to pre-training. Conclusion: First-aid training is a necessity of all sections of society and the results of this study demonstrate quite clearly that even if first-aid training which is professionally required has been taken and there is a need for periodic updates with refresher courses. This study aimed to investigate the relationship between low back pain and performing rhinoplasty and presents the data related to the prevalence of low back pain among the otorhinolaryngologists included in a sample. The questionnaire prepared by the researchers was completed by volunteer otorhinolaryngologists who participated in the 22nd International Rhinocamp Congress. The questionnaire prepared to investigate low back problems contained items to obtain the demographic features of the participants, whether they were performing septorhinoplasty, how many years they had been performing this procedure, whether they had any problem (ache, pain, or discomfort) in the lumbar region, whether they had been hospitalized or had surgery due to this problem, low back pain frequency and intensity, and the presence of low back pathologies (e.g., protrusion, perforated disc, and bulging) detected by magnetic resonance imaging. The research was performed with the participation of 110 otorhinolaryngologists, of whom 37.3% ( n  = 41) were women and 62.7% ( n  = 69) were men, 79.1% ( n  = 87) were performing rhinoplasty surgery, and 69.1% ( n  = 76) had low back pain. Low back pain was reported in 72.4% ( n  = 63) of the doctors performing rhinoplasty and 56.5% ( n  = 13) of those who did not perform this surgery. There was a statistically significant relationship between the presence of low back pain and whether the doctors performed rhinoplasty surgery (χ 2  = 4.151; p  = 0.042 [< 0.05]). In addition, the complaints of low back pain were affected by the number of years the doctors had been performing rhinoplasty ( p  = 0.001 < 0.01). Low back pain was found to be frequent among otorhinolaryngologists performing rhinoplasty. Training, exercises, and performing the operation in a position that will prevent the occurrence of lower back pain can improve quality of life and minimize labor loss caused by pain among rhinoplasty surgeons. Objective: To examine whether graded motor imagery (GMI) was as effective as transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) in improving pain and functionality in patients with knee osteoarthritis (PwKOA)., Design: Forty-six PwKOA were randomized (1:1) into the GMI and the TENS groups. Both groups participated in home-based and functional exercises. A visual analog scale (VAS), the pressure pain threshold, range of motion (ROM), muscle strength, the Timed Up and Go Test, and the Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index (WOMAC) were evaluated at baseline, after 8 weeks of treatment, and after a 6-week follow-up period., Results: The within-group comparisons showed significant improvements in outcomes for both treatments. However, the difference between the groups was significant in favor of the GMI group in knee flexion ROM, knee extensor muscle strength, and WOMAC-pain and WOMAC-function parameters at the end of the treatment, and VAS-activity, knee flexor muscle strength, and WOMAC-stiffness values showed greater improvement in the GMI group compared with the TENS group at the end of the 6-week follow-up (for all, p < 0.05)., Conclusions: GMI seems to be a more effective adjuvant than TENS. Background:  The aim of this study is to comparatively evaluate the effect of early weight bearing on recovery after treatment with the microfracture (MF) method in a rabbit model of osteochondral lesions (OCLs) of the talus., Materials and Methods: The study was carried out on 24 tali of 12 white rabbits. Experimental animals were divided into two groups. Rabbits whose weight-bearing and mobility were not limited after MF surgery were called Group 1, and rabbits with limited mobility were called Group 2. After 28 days of postoperative follow-up, tissue samples obtained from the tali were evaluated macroscopically according to the International Society for Cartilage Research Repair Evaluation scoring system 1 (ICRS-1) and microscopically according to the ICRS-2 scoring system., Results: The mean ICRS-1 score was 87.5 ± 12.5 in Group 1 and 40.2 ± 7.8 in Group 2. The intergroup comparison of ICRS-1 scores showed that the ICRS-1 scores were significantly higher in Group 1 (p = 0.01). The mean ICRS-2 score was 74.3 ± 1.9 in Group 1 and 35.2 ± 1.9 in Group 2. Background: Coronavirus disease-2019 (Covid-19) is transmitted by respiratory droplets and causes upper respiratory tract symptoms. These features of Covid-19 are essential regarding its potential association with allergic rhinitis (AR)., Aim: This study aimed to investigate the relationship between Covid-19 and AR and the effects of Covid-19 in patients with AR., Patients and Methods: Between April 2020 and June 2020, in Sanliurfa Mehmet Akif Inan Training and Research Hospital, 322 patients who were diagnosed with Covid-19 with polymerase chain reaction (PCR) positive oropharyngeal and nasopharyngeal swab samples and with AR in their medical history were detected using the hospital's automation system. Demographic data including age, gender, and additional data such as main complaints, physical examination findings, duration of inpatient floor, and intensive care unit (ICU) stay were recorded. The medical history of the patients was reviewed and patients with previously diagnosed AR were identified. These patients were called by phone and their AR diagnoses were confirmed by performing the Score for Allergic Rhinitis (SFAR) questionnaire., Results: The study population consisted of 322 patients aged between 18 and 85. Among these patients, 186 (57.8%) were male and 136 (42.2%) were female. Nineteen (5.9%) of these patients had a history of AR. There was no difference between the patients with and without a history of AR concerning age, gender distribution, type of presentation, ICU referral rate, duration of inpatient floor, and ICU stay (P > 0.05)., Conclusion: We conclude that the prognosis of Covid-19 was similar between patients with and without AR. Objective  To compare the serum levels of vitamin D and minerals in children with or without isolated distal radius fractures. Methods  The present prospective clinical study included 50 children (aged between 5 and 15 years) with isolated distal radius fractures who were admitted to our emergency unit between February and May 2018 as the study group (group A), and 50 healthy children with no history of fracture as the control group (group B). Peripheral venous blood samples were obtained and analyzed for measurements of 25-hydroxyvitamin D (25(OH)D), calcium (Ca), magnesium (Mg), phosphorus (P), alkaline phosphatase (ALP), and parathyroid hormone (PTH) in both groups. Patient characteristics and peripheral venous blood samples were compared between the groups. Results  The mean age, height, weight, body mass index (BMI) and gender distribution were similar in both groups. There were no statistical differences in the blood analyses, including Ca, Mg, P, ALP, and PTH. However, the serum levels of 25(OH)D were statistically lower in group A when compared to group B ( p  < 0.001), and the number of patients with 25(OH)D insufficiency was statistically higher in group A than in group B (p = 0.012).
