Spatially resolved photoluminescence at the sub-micro scale was used to study the optical non-uniformity of the micro-LED under varied power density excitation levels. The trend of the efficiency along injection levels were found to be highly dependent on the location of the chip mesa. The sidewall was 80% lower than the center under low-power density excitation, but was 50% higher under high-power density excitation. The external quantum efficiency droop at the center and the sidewall was 86% and 52%, respectively. A 2 µm band area near the sidewall was characterized where the efficiency and its trends changed rapidly. Beyond such band, the full width at half maximum and peak wavelength variation across the chip varied less than 1 nm, indicating high uniformity of the material composition. The sudden change = in the band, especially under high level excitation indicates the indium composition change formed by ion residues on the sidewall affect the distribution of charge carriers. These findings contribute to the understanding of cause of efficiency disadvantage and non-uniformity problems in small-size micro-LEDs.

The differences in spatially optical properties between blue and green quantum wells (QWs) in a monolithic dual-wavelength semipolar (20-21) structure were investigated by scanning near-field optical microscopy (SNOM). The shortest wavelength for green QWs and the longest wavelength for blue QWs were both discovered in the region with the largest stress. It demonstrated that In composition, compared to stress, plays a negligible role in defining the peak wavelength for blue QWs, while for green QWs, In composition strongly affects the peak wavelength. For green QWs, significant photoluminescence enhancement was observed in the defect-free region, which was not found for blue QWs. Furthermore, the efficiency droop was aggravated in the defect-free region for green QWs but reduced for blue QWs. It indicates that carrier delocalization plays a more important role in the efficiency droop for QWs of good crystalline quality, which is experimentally pointed out for the first time.

The identification and analysis of the spatiotemporal dynamic traffic patterns in citywide road networks constitute a crucial process for complex traffic management and control. However, city-scale and synchronal traffic data pose challenges for such kind of quantification, especially during peak hours. Traditional studies rely on data from road-based detectors or multiple communication systems, which are limited in not only access but also coverage. To avoid these limitations, we introduce real-time, traffic condition digital maps as our input. The digital maps keep spatiotemporal urban traffic information in nature and are open to access. Their pixel colors represent traffic conditions on corresponding road segments. We propose a stacked convolutional autoencoder-based method to extract a low-dimension feature vector for each input. We compute and analyze the distances between vectors. The statistical results show different traffic patterns during given periods. With the actual data of Chongqing city, we compare the feature extraction performance between our proposed method and histogram. The result shows our proposed method can extract spatiotemporal features better. For the same data set, there is little difference in the number distribution of red pixels found in the statistics result of the histogram, while differences do exist in the results of our proposed method. We find the most fluctuated morning is on Friday; the most fluctuated evening is on Tuesday; and the most stable evening is on Wednesday. The distance captured by our method can represent the evolution of different traffic conditions during the morning and evening peak hours. Our proposed method provides managers with assistance to sense the dynamics of citywide traffic conditions in quantity.

A GaN ultraviolet photodetector with a petal-like β-Ga2O3 microcrystalline layer was prepared on the GaN template using electrochemical anodizing and annealing processes. The petal-like β-Ga2O3 microcrystalline layer was found to enhance the absorption of ultraviolet light and suppress the dark current, and a high responsivity from 230 nm (responsivity 8.5 A/W) to 400 nm (responsivity 0.1 A/W) was achieved by the photodetector. The rejection ratio of ultraviolet–visible light is greater than three orders of magnitude representing a high selectivity of ultraviolet light detection. The responsivity slopes of the photodetector under different biases were found to be strongly correlated with the wavelength of light, and the responsivity is much higher than that of conventional metal/insulator/metal wavelength identification photodetectors. This effective method of synthesizing β-Ga2O3 crystallites on GaN can be used to enhance the ultraviolet absorption of GaN photodetectors and improve the detection performance.

The microcave array with extreme large aspect ratio was fabricated on the p-GaN capping layer followed by Ag nanoparticles preparation. The coupling distance between the dual-wavelength InGaN/GaN multiple quantum wells and the localized surface plasmon resonance was carefully characterized in nanometer scale by scanning near-field optical microscopy. The effects of coupling distance and excitation power on the enhancement of photoluminescence were investigated. The penetration depth was measured in the range of 39–55 nm depending on the excitation density. At low excitation power density, the maximum enhancement of 103 was achieved at the optimum coupling distance of 25 nm. Time-resolved photoluminescence shows that the recombination life time was shortened from 5.86 to 1.47 ns by the introduction of Ag nanoparticle plasmon resonance.

Defogging algorithms based on dark channel prior have color shift in light color areas because of inaccurate estimation of transmittance. To resolve this problem, a novel improved image clearness method is proposed. Based on the dark channel prior, the essential causes of color shift are analyzed, with two important factors summarized. Then, transmission map is calculated by using 3⁎3 fixed region, and the restoration module based on self-adaptive threshold mechanism for transmission map is provided. Some experiments are carried out to determine parameters in restoration module to correct the transmission map. According to the corrected transmission map, a transmission restoration algorithm is constructed based on the self-adaptive threshold mechanism to improve the performance of the fog-free image. The experiment results show that this method can resolve the color shift in light color areas effectively and guarantee the overall framework of defogging method based on dark color theory unchanged.

The size of the V-defects in the GaN/InGaN-based quantum wells blue light-emitting diode (LED) was intentionally modified from 50 nm to 300 nm. High resolution photoluminescence and electroluminescence of a single large V-defect were investigated by near-field scanning optical microscopy. The current distribution along the {10-11} facets of the large defect was measured by conductive atomic force microscopy. Nearly 20 times the current injection and dominant emission from bottom quantum wells were found in the V-defect compared to its vicinity. Such enhanced current injection into the bottom part of quantum wells through V-defect results in higher light output power. Reduced external quantum efficiency droops were achieved due to more uniform carrier distribution. The un-encapsulated fabricated chip shows light output power of 172.5 mW and 201.7 mW at 400 mA, and external quantum efficiency drop of 22.3% and 15.4% for the sample without and with large V-defects, respectively. Modified V-defects provide a simple and effective approach to suppress the efficiency droop problem that occurs at high current injection, while improving overall quantum efficiency.

The asymmetric unit of the title compound, C12H9F2N3O, contains two independent molecules (A and B) in which the benzene and cyclopropane rings form dihedral angles of 33.0 (1) and 29.7 (1)°, respectively. In the crystal, weak intermolecular C—H...O hydrogen bonds link alternating A and B molecules into chains along [010].

Inhibin is a molecule that belongs to peptide hormones and is excreted through pituitary gonadotropins stimulation action on the granulosa cells of the ovaries. However, the differential regulation of inhibin and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) on granulosa cell tumor growth in mice inhibin-deficient females is not yet well understood. The objective of this study was to evaluate the role of inhibin and FSH on the granulosa cells of ovarian follicles at the premature antral stage. This study stimulated immature wild-type (WT) and Inhibin-α knockout (Inha−/−) female mice with human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) and examined hCG-induced gene expression changes in granulosa cells. Also, screening of differentially expressed genes (DEGs) was performed in the two groups under study. In addition, related modules to external traits and key gene drivers were determined through Weighted Gene Co-Expression Network Analysis (WGCNA) algorithm. The results identified a number of 1074 and 931 DEGs and 343 overlapping DEGs (ODEGs) were shared in the two groups. Some 341 ODEGs had high relevance and consistent expression direction, with a significant correlation coefficient (r2 = 0.9145). Additionally, the gene co-expression network of selected 153 genes showed 122 nodes enriched to 21 GO biological processes (BP) and reproduction and 3 genes related to genomic pathways. By using principal component analysis (PCA), the 14 genes in the regulatory network were fixed and the cumulative proportion of fitted top three principal components was 94.64%. In conclusion, this study revealed the novelty of using ODEGs for investigating the inhibin and FSH hormone pathways that might open the way toward gene therapy for granulosa cell tumors. Also, these genes could be used as biomarkers for tracking the changes in inhibin and FSH hormone from the changes in the nutrition pattern.
