- Abstract
Rhythmic Gymnastics (GR) is a sport that requires athletes to be in good physical condition. However, physical training can promote balance and strength asymmetries among athletes. The objective of this work was to evaluate the balance of the upper and lower limbs and static strength of the lower limbs through the Upper Body Test, Lower Body Test and manual dynamometry in RG athletes during the pre-season. The study is characterized as descriptive with a cross-sectional quantitative approach, composed of 12 female rhythmic gymnastics athletes aged between seven and 17 years. The results of the study demonstrate that for the balance of the upper limbs, there was a significant difference between the left superomedial x right superomedial pattern (G1=101.60 ± 14.20, G2=95.18 ± 13.00; t(11) 2.551; p = 0.027; d =0.47), there was also a significant difference between the left inferolateral x infero- right side (G1= 98.82 ± 9.50, G2= 91.87 ± 8.06; t(11) 3.628; p = 0.004; d =0.79). Regarding the lower limbs, there was significant difference only when comparing the right posterolateral x left posterolateral pattern (G1=80.33 ± 5.06, G2=76.19 ± 8.14; t (11) -3.631; p = 0.004; d = 0.63). Regarding the strength of the lower limbs, there was a difference only between the hip extensors (G1=160.86 ± 42.33, G2=153.44 ± 37.71; t(11) 2.546; p= 0.027; d= 0.19).

- Abstract
Endoplasmic reticulum stress (ER stress) affects many tissues and contributes to the development and severity of chronic diseases. In contrast, regular physical exercise (PE) has been considered a powerful tool to prevent and control several chronic diseases. The present systematic review aimed to evaluate the impact of different PE protocols on ER stress markers in central and peripheral tissues in rodents. The eligibility criteria were based on PICOS (population: rodents; intervention: physical exercise/physical training; control: animals that did not undergo training; outcomes: endoplasmic reticulum stress; studies: experimental). The PubMed/Medline, Science Direct, Scopus, and Scielo databases were analyzed systematically. Quality assessment was performed using SYRCLE’s risk of bias tool for animal studies. The results were qualitatively synthesized. Initially, we obtained a total of 2.490 articles. After excluding duplicates, 30 studies were considered eligible. Sixteen studies were excluded for not meeting the eligibility criteria. Therefore, 14 articles were included. The PE protocol showed decreased levels/expression of markers of ER stress in the central and peripheral tissues of rodents. PE can decrease ER stress by reducing cellular stress in the cardiac, brain, and skeletal muscle tissues in rodents. However, robust PE protocols must be considered, including frequency, duration, and intensity, to optimize the PE benefits of counteracting ER stress and its associated conditions.

Thermal Imaging ,Skin Temperature ,Muscle Damage - Abstract
This research aimed to investigate the association between the skin temperature variation of the skin identified by thermography and serum CK values in healthy subjects based on a systematic review with meta-analysis. A systematic literature search was performed in June 2021 in the SCOPUS, MEDLINE, and Web of Science databases (2000 to 2021). MeSH and DeCS platforms were used to find the descriptors in English referring to the terms "thermography" and "creatine kinase" with their synonyms (nine and 13, respectively) to find studies, following the PIRT strategy: Participants (healthy subjects); Index Test (thermography); Reference Test (CK collection); Target Condition (having analysed the results of the Index and Reference Test). A meta-analysis was performed to calculate the association between variables. A total of 483 files were retrieved from the databases, and 13 were selected for analysis (five met the criteria for meta-analysis). Considering the 13 studies reviewed, there is a general balance in obtaining results of CK increase along with skin temperature versus studies that didn't observe any association between the measures. However, the meta-analysis showed no significant association between the variables analysed (r = -0.05; p = 0.06; 95%CI = -0.11 to 0.00). This result suggests that the result of one test cannot estimate the result of the other. It was concluded that there is no good association between CK levels and thermography results; it's recommended the use of thermal images in addition to other evaluation methods in order to assist in the determination of special differential diagnoses of musculoskeletal injuries. High-intensity interval training (HIIT) can induce oxidative stress. The main aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of 15 sessions of a HIIT protocol in Wistar rats on oxidative damage markers in different tissues (blood, muscle, liver and heart). Thus, animals weighing 250-300g were used and randomly divided into 2 groups (n=10): Control (CG) and animals submitted to HIIT (TG) through a swimming protocol. The results showed that HIIT increased the production of malondialdehyde (MDA) in TG animals: serum (306.75%), gastrocnemius muscle (259.2%), liver (452.6%) and heart (215%), while the concentration of sulfhydryl groups decreased: serum (40%), gastrocnemius muscle (44.7%), liver (44.6%) and heart (47.2%). Thus, it could be concluded that 15 HIIT sessions altered the redox state of Wistar rats due to increased oxidative damage markers in the analysed tissues. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

HIIT ,oxidative stress ,damage - Abstract
The aim of this experimental study was to evaluate acute responses to oxidative stress (OS) after a single session of two HIIT protocols. 24 Wistar rats were divided into three groups (n= 8): sedentary control (SC), HIIT with a 7-minute volume (LW) and HIIT with 14-min (HW). After the protocol, blood was collected for the measurement of uric acid (UA), and the liver and the gastrocnemius muscle were collected for OS assessment by measuring malondialdehyde (MDA) and total antioxidant capacity (FRAP). The LW and HW groups showed a reduction in hepatic MDA (51.9 and 29.9%; p< 0.05) compared to SC. However, the muscle of the HW group increased the MDA (12.6%; p< 0.05) compared to SC. As for FRAP, LW and HW reduced values (78.3 and 75.3%; p< 0.05, respectively) compared to SC. UA in the LW group was higher when compared to SC (64.7%; p< 0.05), HW group was similar to SC (p> 0.05). Among the different HIIT protocols, the LW group showed an increase in UA compared to the HW group (44%; p< 0.05). Compared to SC, the LW and HW groups did not promote acute OS in the liver tissue. However, HW caused OS in muscle tissue after a single exercise session., Motricidade, Vol. 18 No. 2 (2022): III SINAL - International Symposium on Physical Activity and Combat Sports

- Abstract

16 n.º 3 (2020)

The purpose of this paper was to validate the ability of automated devices to measure the velocity of the upper limbs. Thus, 144 students, from 8 to 17 years old, both sexes, participated in the study in a social project in the city of Natal/RN. The Automated Tapping Test (AATT) was developed following the dimensions of the original EUROFIT test, but built out of metal parts, so that the calibration was more accurate and could be read as an electronic signal by the integrated circuit. The upper limb velocity test was applied in three steps: before performing the original test, all participants underwent a laterality check and then motor practice similar to the original test. After 30 minutes, the first step in the pattern established by the EUROFIT test battery was performed and 30 minutes later, the third stage, with the AATT. The measurement reliability of the automated apparatus was tested through intraclass correlations and a strong intraclass interaction coefficient of r = 0.901 was found. In conclusion, the AATT was found to be accurate and efficient as to what it is proposed to evaluate, being able to minimize the intra-evaluator error and to assist professionals in the sports., Motricidade, Vol 14 No 4 (2018): Motricidade

- Abstract
We describe the methodology of the MBPPG study in hypertensive patients as well as the association of blood pressure self-measurement (BP) with its control, the presence of anxiety disorders, unplanned visits to urgency and self-medication. This is a cross-sectional observational analytical study in which it is intended to evaluate 1000 volunteers with systemic arterial hypertension followed up on an outpatient basis in public and private hospitals located in Aracaju-Sergipe, Brazil. Data collection will be conducted applying a specific questionnaire for the research; BP control through Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitoring (ABPM) or an average of measurements in the last three consultations; the self-assessment of anxiety through the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI), the determination of quality of life through the SF-36. In the statistical analysis, tests will be used for the hypothesis of independence between categorical variables, equality of means, logistic regression, effect sizes Cohen’s D and h, and a significance level of 5%. The results analysis intends to produce information about the impact of the self-measurement of blood pressure, not oriented, of the hypertensive population. With this, it is expected to provide public managers with information that will support more efficient health policies in relation to the practice of self-assessment performed by hypertensive patients., Este esudo busca descrever a metodologia do estudo AnOPAR em hipertensos bem como a associação da autoaferição da pressão arterial (PA) com o seu controle, presença de transtornos de ansiedade, de visitas não programadas à urgência e automedicação. - Abstract
Talent detection has traditionally been one of the most popular and conflicting issues in the sports media, scientific community, training forums, and among researchers. The objective was to analyze the process and the criteria used to detect talents in volleyball. Ten male volleyball coaches participated in the study, who worked with youth athletes, up to 21 years old, with expertise in the investigated sport. All volunteers had a minimum experience of ten years in volleyball. The coaches evaluated a questionnaire composed of 15 questions, with auto-click characteristics related to the talent detection process in volleyball. A Likert scale of 1 to 5 points was used to assign a grade to each question regarding image clarity, practical relevance, and representativeness of the item. Based on the scientific literature, the content validity coefficient (CVC) was adopted for each question of the instrument as a whole, with a cut-off point ≥ 0.80. The results showed that the criteria “image clarity” (CVC = 0.87), “practical relevance” (CVC = 0.88) and “item representativeness” (CVC = 0.86) presented satisfactory levels. Subsequently, the calculation of the validity coefficient of the total content (CVCt), determined the general average (CVCt = 0.88) of the 3 items evaluated (clarity, relevance, and representativeness). In addition, of the 15 questions evaluated, 13 presented satisfactory values when observed through the CVC, which pointed to the reliability of the instrument adopted., A detecção de talentos tradicionalmente tem sido um dos assuntos mais populares e conflitantes na mídia esportiva, comunidade científica, fóruns de treinamentos e entre pesquisadores da área.

- Abstract
Despite the fact that bariatric surgery (CB) reduces the inflammatory process and cardiometabolic risk, few studies have evaluated the impact of this procedure on environmental, biochemical, hemodynamic, cardiorespiratory factors on body composition, prospectively, especially by scrutinizing users of the Unified Health System. Health (SUS). Therefore, this study aims to analyze the evolution of cardiometabolic risk in patients undergoing CB and its association with environmental, biochemical, hemodynamic, cardiorespiratory, and body composition factors. It was an analytical, longitudinal, prospective, cohort study with two groups and a quantitative approach. Candidates for CB who meet the criteria of the Brazilian Society of Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery (case group) and volunteers with diabetes mellitus 2 and obesity grade II (control group) will be considered eligible. Body composition, hemodynamic, biochemical, food consumption, and cardiorespiratory data will be collected before surgery and after one, three, six, and twelve months after the procedure. In addition, an ergospirometric test, transthoracic echocardiogram, and bone densitometry (DEXA) was performed. This investigation intends to produce information about the impact of CB on the metabolic, physical, and psychosocial integrity of SUS users. Thus, it is expected to provide public managers with technical information to support efficient and equitable health policies., Apesar de a cirurgia bariátrica (CB) auxiliar na redução do processo inflamatório e risco cardiometabólico, poucos estudos avaliaram o impacto desse procedimento em fatores ambientais, bioquímicos, hemodinâmicos, cardiorrespiratórios e na composição corporal, de forma prospectiva, sobretudo escrutinando usuários do Sistema Único de Saúde (SUS). MeSH and DeCS platforms were used to find the descriptors in English referring to the terms "thermography" and "creatine kinase" with their synonyms (nine and 13, respectively) to find studies, following the PIRT strategy: Participants (healthy subjects); Index Test (thermography); Reference Test (CK collection); Target Condition (having analyzed the results of the Index and Reference Test). However, the meta-analysis showed no significant association between the variables analyzed (r= -0.05; p= 0.06; 95%CI -0.11 - 0.00). This result suggests that the result of one test cannot estimate the result of the other. It was concluded that there is no good association between CK levels and thermography results; it's recommended the use of thermal images in addition to other evaluation methods in order to assist in the determination of special differential diagnoses of musculoskeletal injuries. The present study aimed to validate the perceived exertion scale based on the repetitions in reserve (RIR) of Paralympic Powerlifting (PP) athletes. Twenty-one PP athletes were assessed in the one-maximum repetition test (1RM) of the bench press exercise, maximum repetition strength tests with loads corresponding to 90, 85, 80, and 75% of 1RM, and 4-repetitions strength tests (4-repST) with 100, 90, 85, 80, and 75% of the 1RM. The RIR scale was assessed after each set of the 4-repST and compared to the 1RM and maximum strength tests. For criterion validity, the total estimated repetition was significantly lower compared to the maximum strength test repetitions in the lower scores of the RIR scale (median=7.0 vs. 9.0 for 75% of 1RM). The total estimated repetition correlation with maximum strength was very high and significant (ICC=0.91). Using the Bland and Altman method, the difference between means was 0.9 reps, and the interval around differences was 6.4 reps. For construct validity, and the RIR scale presented high correlation with 1RM intensities (rho=0.86, p≤0.05). The RIR scale was validated and coaches and sports trainers can use this monitoring tool to ensure submaximal loads when improving lift technique, which is extremely rigorous in PP. As for FRAP, LW and HW reduced values (78.3 and 75.3%; p< 0.05) compared to SC, respectively. However, HW caused OS in muscle tissue after a single exercise session. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Created in Germany by Joseph Pilates in the 1920s, the Pilates Method (PM) uses exercises aiming to improve physical health and mental balance. The present work objective was to verify, through a systematic literature review without delineating languages and dates, the influence of PM on the quality of life (QoL) of its practitioners. Medline, Embase, Web of Science, Scopus, and Google Scholar databases were consulted. The articles were independently selected by two researchers, who also conducted the risk of bias assessment of the included articles. Were identified 2489 articles on the databases, of which 30 were included in the study synthesis. The practice of PM improves the QoL of its practitioners, providing enhanced functional capacity, pain relief, and improvement of emotional aspects in individuals of both sexes, different age groups, and different clinical contexts.
