Herein, we performed a retrospective study to evaluate the reproducibility of caFFR findings between observers and investigate the diagnostic performance of caFFR for coronary stenosis defined as FFR ≤ 0.80, especially in the grey zone (0.75≤caFFR ≤ 0.80).Patients and Methods: A total of 150 patients (167 coronary vessels) underwent caFFR (with FlashAngio used for calculation of flow variables) and subsequent invasive fractional flow reserve (FFR) measurements. Outcomes, including reproducibility, were compared for vessels in and outside the grey zone.Results: The correlation of caFFR findings was good between the two laboratories (r = 0.723, p< 0.001). The AUC of ROC were both high for caFFR-CoreLab1 and caFFR-CoreLab2 (0.975 and 0.883). The diagnostic accuracy, sensitivity, specificity, and negative and positive predictive values were not significantly different between the two laboratories (p> 0.05). caFFR had a strong correlation with measures to FFR (r=0.911, p

Polysomnography (PSG) was conducted, and sleep sounds were recorded simultaneously in a regular room without noise attenuation. The study was conducted in two phases. In phase one, eligible participants were enrolled and randomly allocated into training and validation groups for deep learning algorithm development. In phase two, eligible patients were enrolled in a test group for algorithm assessment. Sensitivity, specificity, accuracy, unweighted Cohen kappa coefficient (κ) and the area under the curve (AUC) were calculated using PSG as the reference standard.Results: A total of 135 participants were randomly divided into a training group (n, 116) and a validation group (n, 19). An independent test group of 59 participants was subsequently enrolled. Our algorithm achieved a precision of 0.81 and sensitivity of 0.78 in the test group for overall sleep event detection. The algorithm exhibited robust diagnostic performance to identify severe cases with a sensitivity of 95.6% and specificity of 91.6%.Conclusion: Our results showed that a deep learning algorithm based on sleep sounds recorded by a noncontact voice recorder served as a feasible tool for apneic event detection and OSA identification. This technique may hold promise for OSA assessment in the community in a relatively comfortable and low-cost manner. Accurately predicting a fetus's gestational age (GA) is crucial in prenatal care. This study aimed to develop an artificial intelligence (AI) model to predict GA using biometric measurements from fetal brain magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). We assessed the significance of using different reference standards for interpreting GA predictions. Measurements of biparietal diameter (BPD), fronto-occipital diameter (FOD), and head circumference (HC) were obtained from 52 normal fetal MRI cases from Rush University. Both manual and AI-based methods were utilized, and comparisons were made using three reference standards (Garel, Freq, and Bio). The AI model showed a strong correlation with manual measurements, particularly for HC, which exhibited the highest correlation with actual values. Differences between GA predictions and picture archiving and communication system (PACS) records varied by reference, ranging from 0.47 to 2.17 weeks for BPD, 0.46 to 2.26 weeks for FOD, and 0.75 to 1.74 weeks for HC. Pearson correlation coefficients between PACS records and GA predictions exceeded 0.97 across all references. In conclusion, the AI model demonstrated high accuracy in predicting GA from fetal brain MRI measurements. This approach offers improved accuracy and convenience over manual methods, highlighting the potential of AI in enhancing prenatal care through precise GA estimation. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

There are limited data on the treatment and outcomes of PCI for ISR CTO.Objective: We aimed to evaluate the procedural results and 2-year outcomes of PCI for ISR CTO compared with de novo CTO.Methods: Patients undergoing attempted CTO PCI between January 2017 and December 2019 were prospectively enrolled. We analyzed the procedural results and 2-year major adverse cardiac events (MACE) in patients undergoing ISR CTO and those undergoing de novo CTO PCI.Results: A total of 426 patients undergoing 484 consecutive CTO PCI (ISR CTO PCI, n=84; de novo CTO, n=400) were enrolled during the study period. Patients undergoing de novo CTO PCI had a significantly greater syntax score than those undergoing ISR CTO PCI [23.0 (17.5, 30.5) vs 21.5 (14.5, 27.0), p=0.039]. Technical (73.8% vs 79.0%, p=0.296) and procedural (73.8% vs 78.0, p=0.405) success rates, as well as the incidence of major procedural complications (1.2% vs 2.3%, p=0.842), were comparable between the two groups. After a median follow-up of 20 months, patients who underwent ISR CTO PCI had a significantly higher incidence of MACE (33.3% vs 10.3%, p< 0.001), mainly attributed to the higher TVR rates (24.7% vs 7.6%, p< 0.001). ISR CTO was the only independent predictor of MACE (hazard ratio, 4.124; 95% confidence interval, 1.951– 8.717; p< 0.001) during follow-up in patients who underwent CTO PCI.Conclusion: ISR CTO PCI shows comparable technical and procedural success, as well as major procedural complications compared with de novo CTO PCI. However, patients who underwent ISR CTO PCI had a significantly worse prognosis than those who underwent de novo CTO PCI, in terms of MACE, driven by TVR. This study aimed to evaluate the association between renal slow perfusion and impaired renal function in atherosclerotic renal artery stenosis (ARAS).Patients and Methods: A total of 79 consecutive patients with uncontrolled hypertension who underwent renal angiography and renal dynamic scintigraphy for suspected ARAS were enrolled in the retrospective descriptive study. Based on the status of renal artery stenosis and renal perfusion, participants were divided into three groups: the control group (n=26), the unilateral ARAS with renal normal perfusion group (RNP, n=30), and the unilateral ARAS with renal slow perfusion group (RSP, n=23). RSP was defined as renal blush grade (RBG) ≤ 1, while RBG> 1 belonged to RNP. Split renal function (SRF) was achieved from 99mTc-DTPA renal scintigraphy. The value of the difference in split renal function (DSRF) is contralateral SRF minus impaired SRF of paired kidneys in ARAS. We compared the SRF and DSRF between different groups to identify the association between renal slow perfusion and renal impairment in ARAS.Results: We analyzed SRF for paired kidneys and found the following: (1) The SRF of the paired kidney was similar in the RNP group (24.3 ± 10.2 mL/min vs 27.5 ± 8.4 mL/min; P = 0.19); however, the impaired SRF was obviously decreased compared with the contralateral SRF in the RSP group (13.5 ± 8.6 mL/min vs 36.7 ± 16.9 mL/min; P < 0.001); and (2) The difference in SRF in the RSP group was significantly higher than that in the control and RNP groups (19.8 ± 11.9 mL/min vs 4.8 ± 8.1 mL/min; 19.8 ± 11.9 mL/min vs 4.6± 3.7 mL/min; P < 0.05).Conclusion: As an angiographic phenomenon, renal slow perfusion might be an indicator of severely impaired renal function.Keywords: renal angiography, renal dynamic scintigraphy, renal dysfunction

However, their influence on immune systems remains unclear.Materials and Methods: Two few-layered MSNs at sizes of 100– 250 nm (S-MSNs) and 400– 500 nm (L-MSNs) were used in this study. Bone marrow-derived dendritic cells (DCs) were exposed to both MSNs at different doses (0, 8, 16, 32, 64, 128 μg/mL) for 48 h and subjected to analyses of surface marker expression, cytokine secretion, lymphoid homing and in vivo T cell priming.Results: Different-sized MSNs of all doses did not affect the viability of DCs. The expression of CD40, CD80, CD86 and CCR7 was significantly higher on both S-MSN- and L-MSN-treated DCs at a dose of 128 μg/mL. As the dose of MSN increased, the secretion of IL-12p70 remained unchanged, the secretion of IL-1β decreased, and the production of TNF-α increased. A significant increase in IL-6 was observed in the 128 μg/mL L-MSN-treated DCs. In particular, MSN treatment dramatically improved the ex vivo movement and in vivo homing ability of both the local resident and blood circulating DCs. Furthermore, the cytoskeleton rearrangement regulated by ROS elevation was responsible for the enhanced homing ability of the MSNs. More robust CD4+ and CD8+ T cell proliferation and activation (characterized by high expression of CD107a, CD69 and ICOS) was observed in mice vaccinated with MSN-treated DCs. Importantly, exposure to MSNs did not interrupt LPS-induced DC activation, homing and T cell priming.Conclusion: Few-layered MSNs ranging from 100 to 500 nm in size could play an immunostimulatory role in enhancing DC maturation, migration and T cell elicitation, making them a good candidate for vaccine adjuvants. Investigation of this study will not only expand the applications of MSNs and other new transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDCs) but also shed light on the in vivo immune-risk evaluation of MSN-based nanomaterials.Keywords: MoS2 nanosheets, dendritic cells, migration, vaccine adjuvant

The precious rare edible fungus Morchella conica is popular worldwide for its rich nutrition, savory flavor, and varieties of bioactive components. Due to its high commercial, nutritional, and medicinal value, it has always been a hot spot. However, the molecular mechanism and endophytic bacterial communities in M. conica were poorly understood. In this study, we sequenced, assembled, and analyzed the genome of M. conica SH. Transcriptome analysis reveals significant differences between the mycelia and fruiting body. As shown in this study, 1,329 and 2,796 genes were specifically expressed in the mycelia and fruiting body, respectively. The Gene Ontology (GO) enrichment showed that RNA polymerase II transcription activity-related genes were enriched in the mycelium-specific gene cluster, and nucleotide binding-related genes were enriched in the fruiting body-specific gene cluster. Further analysis of differentially expressed genes in different development stages resulted in finding two groups with distinct expression patterns. Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) pathway enrichment displays that glycan degradation and ABC transporters were enriched in the group 1 with low expressed level in the mycelia, while taurine and hypotaurine metabolismand tyrosine metabolism-related genes were significantly enriched in the group 2 with high expressed level in mycelia. Moreover, a dynamic shift of bacterial communities in the developing fruiting body was detected by 16S rRNA sequencing, and co-expression analysis suggested that bacterial communities might play an important role in regulating gene expression. Taken together, our study provided a better understanding of the molecular biology of M. conica SH and direction for future research on artificial cultivation.

The generation of ultrashort high-power light sources in the mid-infrared (mid-IR) to terahertz (THz) range is of interest for applications in a number of fields, from fundamental research to biology and medicine. Besides conventional laser technology, photon deceleration in plasma wakes provides an alternative approach to the generation of ultrashort mid-IR or THz pulses. Here, we present a photon deceleration scheme for the efficient generation of ultrashort mid-IR or THz pulses by using an intense driver laser pulse with a relatively short wavelength and a signal laser pulse with a relatively long wavelength. The signal pulse trails the driver pulse with an appropriate time delay such that it sits at the front of the second wake bubble that is driven by the driver pulse. Owing to its relatively long wavelength, the signal pulse will be subjected to a large gradient of the refractive index in the plasma wake bubble. Consequently, the photon deceleration in the plasma wake becomes faster and more efficient for signal pulses with longer wavelengths. This greatly enhances the capacity and efficiency of photon deceleration in the generation of ultrashort high-power light sources in the long-wavelength IR and THz spectral ranges. However, the mechanistic function of lncRNAs in lumbar disc herniation (LDH) remains largely unknown. Identifying different lncRNA expression under sham and NP-implantation conditions in the spinal cord is important for understanding the molecular mechanisms of radicular pain. Methods: LDH was induced by implantation of autologous nucleus pulposus (NP), harvested from rat tail, in lumbar 5 and 6 spinal nerve roots. The mRNA and lncRNA microarray analyses demonstrated that the expression profiles of lncRNAs and mRNAs between the LDH and sham groups were markedly altered at 7 days post operation. The expression patterns of several mRNAs and lncRNAs were further proved by qPCR.Results: LDH produced persistent mechanical and thermal hyperalgesia. A total of 19 lncRNAs was differentially expressed (>1.5-folds), of which 13 was upregulated and 6 was downregulated. In addition, a total of 103 mRNAs was markedly altered (>1.5-folds), of which 40 was upregulated and 63 downregulated. Biological analyses of these mRNAs further demonstrated that the most significantly upregulated genes in LDH included chemotaxis, immune response, and positive regulation of inflammatory responses, which might be important mechanisms underlying radicular neuropathic pain. These 19 differentially expressed lncRNAs have overlapping mRNAs in the genome, which are related to glutamatergic synapse, cytokine-cytokine receptor interaction, and the oxytocin-signalling pathway.Conclusion: Our findings revealed the alteration of expression patterns of mRNAs and lncRNAs in the spinal cord of rats in a radicular pain model of LDH. The surrogate ratio technique is described. New results for neutron induced fission cross sections on actinide nuclei, obtained using this technique are presented. The results benchmark the surrogate ratio technique and indicate that the method is accurate to within 5% over a wide energy range. New results for internal conversion coefficients in triaxial strongly deformed bands in 167Lu are also presented.

This work is focused on dextran-coated iron oxide nanoparticles and their induced autophagy in human monocytes. We found that these nanoparticles can be taken up by human monocytes, followed by localization within vesicles or free in cytoplasm. Autophagosome formation was observed with increased expression of LC3II protein, the specific marker of autophagy. The autophagy substrate p62 was degraded in a dose-dependent manner, and autophagy was blocked by autophagy (or lysosome) inhibitors alone or along with iron oxide nanoparticles, indicating that autophagosome accumulation was mainly due to autophagy induction, rather than blockade of autophagy flux. Interestingly, iron oxide nanoparticles increased the viability of human monocytes, but the mechanism was not clear. We further found that inhibition of autophagy mostly attenuated the survival of cells, with acceleration of the inflammation induced by these nanoparticles. Taken together, autophagic activation in human monocytes may play a protective role against the cytotoxicity of iron oxide nanoparticles. Abstract The PREDICTS project—Projecting Responses of Ecological Diversity In Changing Terrestrial Systems (https://www.nhm.ac.uk/our-science/our-work/biodiversity/predicts.html)—has collated from published studies a large, reasonably representative database of comparable samples of biodiversity from multiple sites that differ in the nature or intensity of human impacts relating to land use. We have used this evidence base to develop global and regional statistical models of how local biodiversity responds to these measures. We describe and make freely available this 2016 release of the database, containing more than 3.2 million records sampled at over 26,000 locations and representing over 47,000 species. We outline how the database can help in answering a range of questions in ecology and conservation biology. To our knowledge, this is the largest and most geographically and taxonomically representative database of spatial comparisons of biodiversity that has been collated to date; it will be useful to researchers and international efforts wishing to model and understand the global status of biodiversity.

Abstract Biodiversity continues to decline in the face of increasing anthropogenic pressures such as habitat destruction, exploitation, pollution and introduction of alien species. Existing global databases of species’ threat status or population time series are dominated by charismatic species. The collation of datasets with broad taxonomic and biogeographic extents, and that support computation of a range of biodiversity indicators, is necessary to enable better understanding of historical declines and to project – and avert – future declines. We describe and assess a new database of more than 1.6 million samples from 78 countries representing over 28,000 species, collated from existing spatial comparisons of local‐scale biodiversity exposed to different intensities and types of anthropogenic pressures, from terrestrial sites around the world. The database contains measurements taken in 208 (of 814) ecoregions, 13 (of 14) biomes, 25 (of 35) biodiversity hotspots and 16 (of 17) megadiverse countries. The database contains more than 1% of the total number of all species described, and more than 1% of the described species within many taxonomic groups – including flowering plants, gymnosperms, birds, mammals, reptiles, amphibians, beetles, lepidopterans and hymenopterans. The dataset, which is still being added to, is therefore already considerably larger and more representative than those used by previous quantitative models of biodiversity trends and responses. The database is being assembled as part of the PREDICTS project (Projecting Responses of Ecological Diversity In Changing Terrestrial Systems – https://www.nhm.ac.uk/our-science/our-work/biodiversity/predicts.html). We make site‐level summary data available alongside this article. The full database will be publicly available in 2015.

OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to investigate the effect of parecoxib sodium combined with perioperative psychological nursing on postoperative pain in elderly patients with hip fractures. PATIENTS AND METHODS: 80 elderly patients with hip fractures who received surgical treatment in our hospital were selected as the research subjects. According to the different interventions received by the patients, they were divided into a control group (CG) (n=40) who received intravenous parecoxib sodium intervention before surgery, and an observation group (OG) (n=40) who received perioperative psychological nursing intervention in addition to the intervention received by the CG. The pain status, psychological status, hip joint function, daily living ability level, and quality of life of the two groups were compared. RESULTS: After surgery, the VAS score, SAS score and SDS score of the OG were lower than those of the CG (p < 0.05). After surgery, the Harris score of the OG was higher than that of the CG (p < 0.05). Before surgery, there was no significant difference in the Barthel index and SF-36 score between the two groups (p > 0.05). After surgery, the Barthel index and SF-36 scores of both groups showed a significant improvement compared to before surgery, and the scores in the OG were higher than those in the CG (p < 0.05). CONCLUSIONS: Perioperative psychological nursing combined with preemptive analgesia of parecoxib sodium has a significant positive effect on elderly patients with hip fractures after surgery. The combined nursing intervention can further alleviate postoperative pain, improve patients' psychological status, promote the recovery of hip joint function, and significantly improve the daily living ability and quality of life of patients. Bees are important pollinators and are essential for the reproduction of many plants in natural and agricultural ecosystems. However, bees can have adverse ecological effects when introduced to areas outside of their native geographic ranges. Dozens of non-native bee species are currently found in North America and have raised concerns about their potential role in the decline of native bee populations. Osmia taurus Smith (Hymenoptera: Megachilidae) is a mason bee native to eastern Asia that was first reported in the United States in 2002. Since then, this species has rapidly expanded throughout the eastern part of North America. Here, we present a comprehensive review of the natural history of O. taurus , document its recent history of spread through the United States and Canada, and discuss the evidence suggesting its potential for invasiveness. In addition, we compare the biology and history of colonization of O. taurus to O. cornifrons (Radoszkowski), another non-native mason bee species now widespread in North America. We highlight gaps of knowledge and future research directions to better characterize the role of O. taurus in the decline of native Osmia spp. Panzer and the facilitation of invasive plant-pollinator mutualisms.
