In the realm of online learning, social media is emerging as an indispensable tool for student learning. While social media offers benefits for students, it is important to acknowledge that it can also exert adverse effects on them. Drawing inspiration from stress dynamics, coping models, and existing social media literature, our study delves into the ways in which technical stressors (specifically, techno-invasion and techno-overload) and social stressors (encompassing the sense of belonging, social interaction, and social support) give rise to psychological stress among students who excessively depend on social media for learning. This heightened stress subsequently leads to feelings of exhaustion and perceived irreplaceability, ultimately impacting their behavioral outcomes, notably academic performance. The model was tested using survey data collected from a sample of 249 university students in China. From the perspective of technical and social systems, this study presents that excessive usage of social media has the potential to impact the students' academic performance by contributing to their exhaustion and perceived irreplaceability.

The present study aims to extend our understanding of motivational factors that improve the knowledge sharing intention of employees thereby can lead to creating knowledge successfully. Specifically, we aim to extend previous knowledge management research to contribute to both knowledge sharing theory and knowledge creation process with consideration of motivational factors including socialization, externalization, combination and internalization. This study has used quantitative research methodology wherein the data have been collected from 405 students from various universities in Iran using a survey questionnaire. Structural equation modelling has been applied to test the hypotheses of the study. The findings of the study reveal that motivational factors positively influence knowledge sharing and knowledge creation. Results reveal that motivational factors tend to increase the usage of knowledge sharing methods, and consequently, they impact on the creation process of knowledge. Further, motivational factors act as a mediator between knowledge sharing and knowledge creation. This study has limitations that present opportunities for future research. First, the research context covered people from universities only, which limits the generalizability of findings. Second, we did not consider regional cultural differences, which could cause variations in people' knowledge sharing intention. Future studies can build upon the research models to understand the influence of the cultural factors on other type of organisations. This research contributes to both knowledge sharing theory and knowledge creation process with consideration of motivational factors including socialization, externalization, combination and internalization. Thus, the study provides directions to managers to focus on cognitive social aspects (i.e., motivational factors) to encourage the people to share and create knowledge. To the best of authors' knowledge, this study is an early study conducted to examine the influence of motivational factors on knowledge sharing and knowledge creation. This research provides valuable information and guidelines that will be helpful for the managers to consider the important issues during knowledge creation establishment in the universities and organizations which are directly involved with creating knowledge.

Abstract In this paper, we present a computationally efficient reduced order model for obtaining blood perfusion profiles within parametric functional units of the liver called ‘lobules’. We consider Darcy’s equation in two-dimensional hexagonal lobule domains with six flow inlets and one outlet, whose positions are parameterized to represent varying lobule geometries. To avoid the meshing effort for every new lobule domain, we map the parametric domain onto a single reference domain. By making use of the contra-variant Piola mapping, we represent solutions of the parametric domains in the reference domain. We then construct a reduced order model via proper orthogonal decomposition (POD). Additionally, we employ the discrete empirical interpolation method (DEIM) to treat the non-affine parameter dependence that appears due to the geometric mapping. For sampling random shapes and sizes of lobules, we generate Voronoi diagrams (VD) from Delaunay triangulations and use an energy minimization problem to control the packing of the lobule structures. To reduce the dimension of the parameterized problem, we exploit the mesh symmetry of the full lobule domain to split the full domain into six rotationally symmetric subdomains. We then use the same set of reduced order basis (ROB) functions within each subdomain for the construction of the reduced order model. We close our study by a thorough investigation of the accuracy and computational efficiency of the resulting reduced order model.

Abstract Background Neural stem cells (NSCs) play a crucial role in the progress of ischemic stroke. Research on zebrafish embryonic demonstrates an association between Strawberry Notch 1 (Sbno1) and central nervous system development. However, the regulation and underlying mechanism of Sbno1 in NSCs have not been studied yet. Here, we investigated the role and the mechanism of Sbno1 in NSCs development and the potential therapeutic value of Sbno1 in ischemic stroke. Methods Adeno-associated virus (AAV) was used for overexpression or knockdown of Sbno1 in vitro or in vivo. A mouse model of MCAO was established to evaluate the neuroprotective effects of AAV-Sbno1, including balance beam test, rotarod test, and strength evaluation. H&E and immunofluorescence assessed neuronal impairment. Western blot and RT-qPCR were used to detect the expression of Sbno1 and its downstream target genes. RNA-seq and western blot were performed to explore further molecular mechanisms by which Sbno1 promoted endogenous repair of NSCs and macrophages M2 polarization. CCK8 was conducted to assess the effects of Sbno1 on NSCs proliferation. The impact of Sbno1 on NSCs apoptosis was evaluated by flow cytometry. NSCs derived from small extracellular vesicles (sEV) were obtained using ultracentrifugation and identified through nanoparticle tracking analysis (NTA) and western blot analysis. Results Our results showed that Sbno1 is highly expressed in the central nervous system, which plays a crucial role in regulating the proliferation of NSCs through the PI3k-Akt-GSK3β-Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway. In addition, with overexpression of Sbno1 in the hippocampus, post-stroke behavioral scores were superior to the wild-type mice, and immunofluorescence staining revealed an increased number of newly generated neurons. sEV released by NSCs overexpressing Sbno1 inhibited neuroinflammation, which mechanistically impaired the activation of the microglial NF-κB and MAPK signaling pathways. Conclusions Our studies indicate that sbno1 promotes the proliferation of NSCs and enhances endogenous repairing through the PI3k-Akt-GSK3β-Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway. Additionally, NSCs overexpressing sbno1 improve ischemic stroke recovery and inhibit neuroinflammation after ischemia by sEV through the MAPK and NF-κB signaling pathways.

Despite the growing body of research on social media and its effects on employees, few studies have sought to explain the aims of social media users in firms and the mechanisms that link these to employee creativity. From the perspective of social networks, this study argues that using social media for work and social purposes in an enterprise fosters instrumental and expressive links among employees, which in turn fosters employee creativity. The role of instrumental and expressive social ties as mediators was investigated in this study. Furthermore, this research proposes that tie strength moderates the relationship between instrumental and expressive ties and employee creativity. We reveal that specific types of social media usage, such as work- and social-related usage, lead to employees' instrumental and expressive ties, which promote employee creativity, using a sample of 325 Chinese employees. Furthermore, in our model, an employee's tie strength serves as a second-stage moderator. The findings of this study substantiated most of our hypotheses which also had important theoretical and practical implications and guided scholars in the proper direction for further research.

In the dynamic world of construction projects, fostering innovation is paramount. This study investigates the transformative potential of shared leadership as a catalyst for team innovation. We examine knowledge-sharing density as a critical mediator through the lens of knowledge management. We adopted a mixed methods approach, collecting multi-wave and multi-source field data and using social network measures. The results demonstrate shared leadership acts as a direct driver of knowledge-sharing density, facilitating innovation in construction projects. Knowledge-sharing density emerges as a transformative force, mediating the impact of shared leadership on team innovation. This intricate relationship unveils hidden potential for innovation within construction teams. Results also show the influence of team open-mindedness norms, which moderate the direct link between knowledge-sharing density and team innovation and the indirect influence of shared leadership. This study pioneers an integrated approach to understanding leadership and knowledge management in the construction sector, with important insights for team leadership, knowledge-sharing, and project performance.

Summary: Background: Three to 4-weekly intramuscular injections of benzathine penicillin G (BPG) for a prolonged period (e.g., 10 years, until age 40 years, or lifelong) are recommended for preventing group A streptococcal infections that cause recurrent acute rheumatic fever (ARF) and potential progression to rheumatic heart disease (RHD). The duration of treatment, frequency and local pain associated with BPG injections may lead to reduced compliance. Shorter courses of BPG are recommended for the treatment of syphilis and Streptococcal infections. We aimed to assess the effects of local anaesthesia in reducing injection pain in patients who are being treated with BPG. Methods: In this systematic review and meta-analysis, we searched the Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, MEDLINE, EMBASE, Conference Proceedings Citation Index-Science and LILACS from database inception up to May 4, 2024, and performed additional searches for grey literature. Randomised controlled trials comparing BPG vs. BPG administered alongside local anaesthetics were included. Randomized controlled trials using BPG, irrespectively of indication, and testing any local anaesthetic agent for pain alleviation were considered eligible. We applied GRADE to assess the quality of evidence. Summary data were extracted from included trials. The primary outcome was injection pain, assessed through mean differences. A random-effects model was utilized to account for study heterogeneity. This study is registered with PROSPERO, CRD42022342437. Findings: Database searches identified a total of 3958 records, and 3 additional records were retrieved from grey literature searches. After removal of duplicates, screening of abstracts and full-text review, eight trials were included, combining a total of 489 patients (151 patients with RHD). Immediate pain level, as reported by patients, was of high intensity in most studies. Low intensity pain was still reported at 24 h. Administration of lidocaine mixed with BPG was associated with a significant reduction in immediate post-injection pain (mean difference −3.84, 95% confidence interval −6.19 to −1.48, P = 0.0001; 4 studies; I2 = 98%; GRADE: moderate quality), pain at 5 min (mean difference −2.85, 95% CI confidence interval −3.78 to −1.92, P

Protein malnutrition is a major public health concern in the developing world. The livestock products are a good source of high-quality protein, but the livestock industry is a source of pollution and one of the leading causes of climate change because the slaughtering of animals results in the accumulation of waste, offals, and several inedible body portions. The rapid increase in the human population and inadequate supply of traditional protein sources have driven a search for novel and alternative protein sources such as edible insects. This review extensively explores the nutritional value, allergenicity, and safety considerations associated with consuming common house crickets and other related insect species. A wide range of cricket protein-based products are currently available and provide some attractive options to the consumers such as protein-enriched bakery products and gluten-free bread for celiac patients. The cricket protein hydrolysates are used as preservatives to improve the stability of cheddar cheese and goat meat emulsions during storage. The risks associated with edible crickets and their products are bacteria, mycotoxins, polychlorinated dibenzodioxins, pesticide residues, heavy metals, and the presence of allergenic proteins.

Background and Objective Pancreatic cancer (PC) is a significant cause of cancer-related mortality, with limited curative options and high rates of cachexia, a debilitating syndrome associated with poor prognosis. While previous research has linked sarcopenia to poor outcomes in PC, the correlation between cachexia and treatment outcomes remains underexplored. This meta-analysis aims to investigate the association between cachexia and overall survival and time to treatment failure in advanced PC patients undergoing first-line chemotherapy. Method A systematic search of electronic databases was conducted following PRISMA guidelines. Eligible studies compared cachexic and non-cachexic PC patients, reporting outcomes of observed survival or time to treatment failure. Data extraction and analysis were performed using Comprehensive Meta-Analysis Version 3.3, employing random-effects models and sensitivity analyses to assess heterogeneity and bias. Results Seven observational studies involving 2834 PC patients were included. The incidence of cachexia was 45% (95% CI: 0.27-0.65), with a higher prevalence in East Asian populations. Cachexic patients experienced significantly earlier treatment failure (SDM: −2.22, 95% CI: −2.6 to −1.7, P = 0.0001) and higher mortality risk (HR: 2.02, 95% CI: 1.17-3.48, P = 0.011) compared to non-cachexic patients. Overall survival was lower in cachexic patients (SDM: −2.34, 95% CI: −3.7 to −0.90, P = 0.001), with considerable heterogeneity across studies. Meta-regression analysis revealed significant differences between countries but insignificant correlations with age. Conclusion Cachexia is associated with reduced overall survival, early chemotherapy failure, and elevated mortality in advanced PC patients undergoing first-line chemotherapy. Recognition and management of cachexia are crucial for optimizing treatment outcomes and improving patient survival. Future research should focus on prospective studies to better understand the impact of cachexia on treatment response and develop tailored interventions to mitigate its adverse effects.

Two groups of cotton growers participated in this study; the first, referred as “conventional cotton producers” (CCPs), continues to use traditional techniques. The second group, known as sustainable cotton producers (SCPs), adheres to practices that are socially acceptable, economically feasible, and environment friendly. This study was designed to undertake a thorough socio-economic analysis of CCP and SCP in terms of cost of production, yield, and adaptations for climate change. The data were collected from a total of 275 farming households (138 SCPs and 137 CCPs) from two districts, namely, Bahawalpur and Rajanpur, Punjab, Pakistan. The data were analyzed using the benefit–cost ratio (BCR), paired sampled t-test, and log–log regression model in SPSS. The results of the study revealed that the cost of production for SCP was significantly less than CCP and the value of BCR for SCP is higher than CCP. The results of the study also revealed that the land preparation costs, irrigation costs, and fertilizer and pesticide costs decrease the cotton yield of CCP, while land area owned and picking costs showed no significant influence on the yield of CCP. On the other hand, all cost items except fertilizer cost have a positive impact on CCP’s cotton yield. The results also indicated that SCP farmers adopted more of adaptation practices for climate change than CCP. This study concluded that SCP has significant advantages over CCP. Therefore, it is recommended that the government should prioritize incentives for SCP adoption to enhance yield and environmental sustainability in cotton farming.

Introduction: Chalcones, are a group of organic compounds containing two aromatic rings bridged by a three-carbon -a, ?; unsaturated carbonyl system. This attracted much attention because of their versatility in pharmacological profiles. Aims & Objectives: To investigate the therapeutic efficacy of a particular chalcone derivative, namely (E)-1-(4- bromophenyl)-3-(4-chlorophenyl) prop-2-ene-1-one. Place and Duration of Study: It was conducted in the Pharmacology Laboratory of the Institute of Basic Medical Sciences, Khyber Medical University, Peshawar, and the University of Malakand for about one year. Material & Method: This was a lab-based experimental study. The therapeutic efficacy of a chalcone derivative, (E)-1- (4-bromophenyl)-3-(4-chlorophenyl) prop-2-ene-1-one was assessed through an experiment on pain and inflammation in mice. Claisen-Schmidt condensation reaction and spectroscopic tools were used. Results: Pharmacological data proved a significant decrease in pain and inflammation as compared to Diclofenac Sodium. Reduction of 75.20% in acetic acid-induced writhing as compared to 84.4% with Diclofenac. After 3 hours, there was 67.08% reduction in edema. Conclusion: This study provides evidence that chalcone derivatives in moderation may be effective and safer than present-day drugs that address pain and inflammation. This result may need to be further clinically related to potentially translate them in different patient populations in terms of efficacy and safety.

Purpose: We hypothesize that lower grade gliomas (LGG) can be identified and classified into two distinct subtypes: radiologically circumscribed Lower-Grade Gliomas (cLGG) and infiltrating Lower-Grade Gliomas (iLGG) based on radiological parameters and that these two different subtypes behave differently in terms of clinical outcomes. Methods: We conducted a retrospective cohort study on surgical patients diagnosed with lower grade glioma over five years. Patient records and MRIs were reviewed, and neurosurgeons classified tumors into cLGG and iLGG groups. Results: From the 165 patients in our cohort, 30 (18.2%) patients were classified as cLGG and 135 (81.8%) patients were classified as iLGG Mean age in cLGG was 31.4 years while mean age in iLGG was 37.9 years (p = 0.004). Introduction: This systematic review investigated strategies to mitigate cardiotoxicity induced by anticancer medications, emphasizing exercise and pharmacological interventions. Methods: We systematically reviewed three randomized controlled trials (RCTs), one ATOPE trial, and one retrospective cohort study. Results: Among 448 patients, exercise interventions, particularly in breast cancer patients, demonstrated significant improvements in left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) and cardiotoxicity prevention. Pharmacological interventions, including candesartan and carvedilol, have shown potential in reducing early DOX-induced subclinical cardiotoxicity (DISC). The protective efficacy of candesartan in alleviating DISC was greater than carvedilol and the control group. Combination therapy with lisinopril and bisoprolol effectively preserved the LVEF. A retrospective cohort study demonstrated the cardioprotective potential of SGLT-2 inhibitors in reducing cardiovascular events. Conclusion: This systematic review underscores the promise of exercise and pharmacological interventions for preserving cardiac function in cancer patients receiving chemotherapy. These findings have significant implications for enhancing the quality of care for cancer patients.

Objectives: To compare the efficacy of plain crepe dressing versus MgSO4 dressing in patients with cellulitis. Methods: This Randomized Controlled Trial (RCT) was carried out in the General Surgery Department of PAEC General Hospital, Islamabad. Around 60 patients having cellulitis were enlisted in the study. Patients were divided into two groups by block randomization, group A (crepe dressing) and group B (MgSO4 dressing). Efficacy was determined in terms of symptom resolution after seven days of dressing. Results: A total of 60 patients, 30 in each group, were enlisted in the study, including 36 (60%) male and 24 (40%) female. The mean ages of the patients were 39.53 ± 11.22 years and 41.17 ± 13.17 years in group A and B respectively (p-value > 0.05). The efficacy was 30.0% in group A and 63.3% in group B (p-value 0.010). Conclusion: The study deduced that MgSO4 dressing is more effective than plain crepe dressing in treating patients with cellulitis. This finding has important implications for clinical practice, as it suggests that MgSO4 dressing may be a more appropriate treatment option for patients with this condition.

This review reports recent breakthroughs in piezoelectric wearable energy harvesting technology, specifically focusing on their harnessing biomechanical energy from all over the human motion. Wearable technology has significantly reshaped our daily lives, prompting a pressing demand for intelligent and novel sensing mechanisms. These wearable devices and sensors often rely on batteries, necessitating frequent replacements or recharging. Leveraging the biomechanical energy of the human body, this paper underscores piezoelectric-based wearable energy harvesting from human motion. The sources of the human body's motion energy are categorized into three distinct groups based on their roles as excitation sources for energy harvesting. Additionally, this paper reviews the latest advancements in piezoelectric wearable technology for electricity generation, explicating the fundamental operational principles, structural designs, materials, and potential applications of piezoelectric wearable energy harvesters. Furthermore, it discusses the prevailing challenges associated with this technology in a dedicated section. Concluding with recommended guidelines, this paper underscores potential opportunities and shed light on future exploration.

This Airships are lighter than air vehicles and due to their growing number of applications, they are becoming attractive for the research community. Most of the applications require an airship autonomous flight controller which needs an accurate model and state information. Usually, airship states are affected by noise and states information can be lost in the case of sensor's faults, while airship model is affected by model inaccuracies and model uncertainties. This paper presents the application of nonlinear and Bayesian estimators for estimating the states and model uncertainties of neutrally buoyant airship. It is considered that minimum sensor measurements are available, and data is corrupted with process and measurement noise. A novel lumped model uncertainty estimation approach is formulated where airship model is augmented with six extra state variables capturing the model uncertainty of the airship. The designed estimator estimates the airship model uncertainty along with its states. Nonlinear estimators, Extended Kalman Filter and Unscented Kalman Filter are designed for estimating airship attitude, linear velocities, angular velocities and model uncertainties. While Particle filter is designed for the estimation of airship attitude, linear velocities and angular velocities. Simulations have been performed using nonlinear 6-DOF simulation model of experimental airship for assessing the estimator performances. 1−𝜎 uncertainty bound and error analysis have been performed for the validation. A comparative study of the estimator's performances is also carried out.

This review article provides a detailed overview of the advanced applications of piezoelectric material in electrochemical processes. Energy harvesting, a potential topic, aims to transform ambient energy sources, including heat, light, and mechanical motion, into useful energy that would otherwise be wasted. This review focuses on an innovative and developing field that intends to connect-directly energy-harvesting devices and materials to the electrochemical systems. To regulate electrochemical processes in presence of piezoelectric materials, electrochemical reactions are dominantly influenced by produced electric charge under mechanical stress. In detail, the applications of piezoelectric material electrochemistry involved for dye degradation, hydrogen production, self-charging power cells, nanogenerator and water splitting is discussed under the umbrella of piezocatalysis. A very focused data is presented for piezo electrochemical hybrid systems from the future perspective and the potential applications for current enhancement induced by internal piezoelectric effect of the systems are also highlighted.

Abstract In motor control, the brain not only sends motor commands to the periphery, but also generates concurrent internal signals known as corollary discharge (CD) that influence sensory information processing around the time of movement. CD signals are important for identifying sensory input arising from self-motion and to compensate for it, but the underlying mechanisms remain unclear. Using whole-cell patch clamp recordings from neurons in the zebrafish optic tectum, we discovered an inhibitory synaptic signal, temporally locked to spontaneous and visually driven locomotion. This motor-related inhibition was appropriately timed to counteract visually driven excitatory input arising from the fish’s own motion, and transiently suppressed tectal spiking activity. High-resolution calcium imaging revealed localized motor-related signals in the tectal neuropil and the upstream torus longitudinalis, suggesting that CD enters the tectum via this pathway. Together, our results show how visual processing is suppressed during self-motion by motor-related phasic inhibition. This may help explain perceptual saccadic suppression observed in many species.

Maintaining the content quality on social media Q&A platforms is pivotal for user attraction and retention. Automating post quality assessment offers benefits such as reduced moderator workload, amplified community impact, enhanced expert user recognition, and importance to expert feedback. While existing approaches for post quality mainly employ binary classification, they often lack optimal feature selection. Our research introduces an automated system that categorizes features into textual, readability, format, and community dimensions. This system integrates 20 features belonging to the aforementioned categories, with a hybrid convolutional neural network–long short-term memory deep learning model for multi-class classification. Evaluation against baseline models and state-of-the-art methods demonstrates our system’s superiority, achieving a remarkable 21–23% accuracy enhancement. Furthermore, our system produced better results in terms of other metrics such as precision, recall, and F1 score.
