One of the fast-growing electronic integration technologies in the modern high-density microelectronics industry is System-in-Package (SiP). It is expected to accelerate application development when reducing implementation risks with optimized codes. However, monitoring the thermal behavior of every chip in SiPs is challenging. This paper proposes a Novel Peak Source-Scanning (NPSS) algorithm based on the Gradient Direction Sensors (GDS) method. The proposed algorithm can detect and locate thermal peaks on any SiP. Detecting such peaks is vital for thermal monitoring and stress management on high-density semiconductor devices to avoid induced thermo-mechanical stresses. Furthermore, the NPSS algorithm can manage and monitor silicon chips with Multiple Heat Sources (MHS). To assess this algorithm, we used tools from COMSOL Multiphysics® and MATLAB® for Temperature-prediction (Tp), and Temperature-estimation (Te), respectively. Our simulations use the generalized GDS methodology for MHS using the finite element method (FEM) to highlight our NPSS capabilities to predict on-chip thermal peaks with a maximum error of 1.27 K (Kelvin).

Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) threats in Smart Grid are very challenging and considered one of the most destructive cyber-attacks. They are harmfully affecting the power sector and causing substantial financial loss. Classical Reinforcement Learning (RL) models are proposed as a promising solution to the DDoS problem as they learn optimal mitigation policies under different attack scenarios. However, as the RL environment is generally dynamic, which leads to more computation capabilities, classical RL efficiency can be limited as a result of serial processing using classical computing. In this paper, a Quantum Entropy Q-Learning (QEQ) is proposed to fight DDoS in Smart Grid. The proposed framework is compared to a classical Q-Learning (QL) model with and without the Entropy method. The convergence speed and the total rewards performed with the same conditions for QL and are Entropy Q-Learning (EQ) are analyzed to show the QEQ performance. Moreover, the accuracy, precision, recall, and F1 score are evaluated to prove the effectiveness of our QEQ in fighting DDoS attacks. Using the Canadian Institute for Cybersecurity Intrusion Detection System (CICIDS 2019) dataset, a thorough systematic simulation using MATLAB, Python, the open-source Qiskit software, and the Harrow-Hassidim-Lloyd (HHL) quantum algorithm is carried out. This proposed QEQ is better performing the DDoS detection as it is faster enough and more adaptable to dynamic environment changing and able to improve the agent’s decision-making in a changing state action space. Finally, conclusions with some open issues of the Quantum Q-Learning are presented.

The objective of this paper is to introduce a novel design for a flexible Ultra-High Frequency tag (UHF tag) through the utilization of the meander line technique (MLA) and loop antenna method. The primary goal is to achieve a compact UHF tag operating at 868 MHz. The physical dimensions of the UHF tag are 110×12×0.1mm3. The proposed UHF tag is manufactured using the inkjet printing method on a polyamide substrate featuring a relative dielectric constant of 3.5, a tangent loss of 0.0027, and a height of 0.0508 mm. Through electromagnetic simulation and validation, the functionality of the proposed UHF tag covers the UHF band ranging from 854.57 to 883.89 MHz, with a bandwidth of 29.32 MHz. The reflection coefficient at 868 MHz is approximately -22.46 dB. The simulated gain measures 1.79 dBi, while the theoretical read range is estimated at 5 m. The UHF tag is produced using silver ink with a thickness of 0.05 mm and assembled using an anisotropic conductive paste (ACP). Subsequent to electromagnetic simulation, the UHF tag’s performance is confirmed through a reading test conducted with a radio frequency identification (RFID) base station. The results are consistent with the theoretical expectations, showcasing a commendable read range of 5 m. To safeguard the UHF tag from challenging environmental conditions, it is enclosed within a polyethylene film (PE). Following encapsulation, the read range decreases to 3 m, making it suitable for RFID applications requiring mid-range capabilities.

The LabPET II detection module serves as the fundamental component within Positron Emission Tomography (PET) scanners designed for achieving ultra-high-resolution imaging of small to medium-sized animals as well as the human brain. To ensure peak performance, it is imperative that this module operates consistently at a stable temperature. In this paper, we present an automatic and real-time method to improve the thermal control of the scanner LabPET II by evacuating the heat to reduce the overall temperature and maintain the thermal stability of the system. Based on the Thermo-Electric Cooler (TEC) process, our method applies two numerical techniques, Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and Heat Transfer Analysis (HTA). The Dirichlet Boundary Conditions (DBC) method is applied for the Application-Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC) at 25∘ C. The real measurements confirm and validate the simulation results with the Finite Element Method (FEM) based on the software COMSOL Multiphysics™. Field-Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) implementation on the Development and Education (DE1) board is performed with comparative results study. The proposed method is both simple and practical, and ensures thermal stability at 35∘C for the duration of operation of the scanner, which has a complex structure.

Online video streaming is becoming more widespread in people’s everyday entertainment routines. Protecting copyright and piracy has become a key concern in real-time video streaming systems. This research provides a revolutionary multi-key and hybrid cryptography approach to offer security. This work describes the software implementation of video encryption and decryption employing continuous systems based on the Elliptic Curve Cryptography approach as pseudorandom encryption key generators. This approach creates several keys to encrypt and decode small chunks of video files that are produced dynamically based on the video data. The suggested approach was implemented on the Android platform, where applications for sender and recipients had been created to enable streaming. The security and performance of the proposed system have been examined by implementing it on devices and streaming videos. The outcomes demonstrate superiority in terms of performance and security.

The safeguarding of intellectual property and maintaining privacy for video content are closely linked to the effectiveness of security protocols employed in internet streaming platforms. The inadequate implementation of security measures by content providers has resulted in security breaches within entertainment applications, hence causing a reduction in the client base. This research aimed to enhance the security measures employed for video content by implementing a multi-key approach for encryption and decryption processes. The aforementioned objective was successfully accomplished through the use of hybrid methodologies, the production of dynamic keys, and the implementation of user-attribute-based techniques. The main aim of the study was to improve the security measures associated with the process of generating video material. The proposed methodology integrates a system of mathematical equations and a pseudorandom key within its execution. This novel approach significantly augments the degree of security the encryption mechanism provides. The proposed methodology utilises a set of mathematical equations that are randomly employed to achieve encryption. Using a random selection procedure contributes to the overall enhancement of the system’s security. The suggested methodology entails the division of the video into smaller entities known as chunks. Following this, every segment is subjected to encryption using unique keys that are produced dynamically in real-time. The proposed methodology is executed via Android platforms. The transmitter application is tasked with the responsibility of facilitating the streaming of the video content, whereas the receiver application serves the purpose of presenting the video to the user. A careful study was conducted to compare and contrast the suggested method with other similar methods that were already in use. The results of the study strongly support the safety and dependability of the procedure that was made available.

The aim of this contribution is a new study on the achievement, fabrication and the test of a new low pass filter (LPF) coplanar structure based on periodic resonators. The proposed structure can be easly integrated with microwave devices, the validated LPF circuit has a wide band pass and high band stop. The design was done by two electromagnetic (EM) solvers one is based on moment method and the other one on finite integration technique. In order to reach a final LPF structure with good characteristics concerning the insertion loss of−0.8 dB and high attenuation until 15 GHz, the cut-off frequency of this filter is equal to 6,77 GHz. Many series of optimization were conducted using multiple algorithms. The whole area of the validated LPF is16×40 mm2.

This paper presents a method to monitor the thermal peaks that are major concerns when designing Integrated Circuits (ICs) in various advanced technologies. The method aims at detecting the thermal peak in Systems on Chip (SoC) using arrays of oscillators distributed over the area of the chip. Measured frequencies are mapped to local temperatures that are used to produce a chip thermal mapping. Then, an indication of the local temperature of a single heat source is obtained in real-time using the Gradient Direction Sensor (GDS) technique. The proposed technique does not require external sensors, and it provides a real-time monitoring of thermal peaks. This work is performed with Field-Programmable Gate Array (FPGA), which acts as a System-on-Chip, and the detected heat source is validated with a thermal camera. A maximum error of 0.3 °C is reported between thermal camera and FPGA measurements.

An innovative design of a circular polarization antenna for wireless power transmission is described. The suggested antenna is simply constructed, which consists of a square radiating patch having a slotted center with feeding via a probe and an L-shaped ground plane. The application of this L-shaped ground allows a short connection of the probe power supply to the square patch while retaining a certain elevation from the ground plane to the square patch while using an air layer substrate, thereby allows a proper adaptation of the impedance and an improvement of the bandwidth. The purpose of utilizing the slot in the center of the square patch is to create a circular polarization with an axial ratio value of under 3dB. By means of a through-hole through the vertical L-shaped ground plane, the patch radiating can be readily excited with a probe feed pointing into the same plane as the patch. This approach allows to further improve the bandwidth of the circular polarization. In this way, the CP bandwidth of the proposed antenna is significantly extended by about 10% and a good impedance matching over a wide bandwidth is obtained. The features of the proposed design are investigated and optimized using a 3D electromagnetic (EM) solver. It was found that the proposed antenna covers a broad band of 425MHz, has a 3 dB axial ratio CP bandwidth of approx. 85% of the resonant band, and a gain level of 7.4 dBi or more in the bandwidth of the resonant band. Besides the low cost of the proposed antenna arising from its simplest structure, the resulting performance leads the antenna to be a strong candidate among circularly polarized, single element, and single feed patch antennas.

The basic need common to all living beings is water. Less than 1% of the water on earth is fresh water and water use is increasing daily. Agricultural practices alone require huge amounts of water. The drip technique improved the efficiency of water use in irrigation and initiated the introduction and development of fertigation, the integrated distribution of water and fertilizer. The past few decades have seen extensive research being carried out in the area of development and evaluation of different technologies available to estimate/measure soil moisture to aid in various applications and to facilitate the use of drip irrigation for users and farmers. In this technology, plant moisture and temperature are accurately monitored and controlled in real time over roots in the form of droplets, by developing smart monitoring system to save water and avoid water waste using drip irrigation technology. Water is delivered to the roots drop by drop, which saves water as well as prevents plants from being flooded and decaying due to excess water released by irrigation methods such as flood irrigation, border irrigation, furrow irrigation, and control basin irrigation. Drip irrigation with an embedded intelligent monitoring system is one of the most valuable techniques used to save water and farmers’ time and energy. In this paper, we design an embedded monitoring system based in the integrated 65 nm CMOS technology in agricultural practices which would facilitate agriculture and enable farmers to monitor crops. Hence, to demonstrate the feasibility, a prototype was constructed and simulated with modelsim and validated with nclaunch the both tools from Cadence, as well as implementation on the FPGA board, was be performed.

This paper proposes a real-time thermal monitoring method using embedded integrated sensor interfaces dedicated to industrial integrated system applications. Industrial sensor interfaces are complex systems that involve analog and mixed signals, where several parameters can influence their performance. These include the presence of heat sources near sensitive integrated circuits, and various heat transfer phenomena need to be considered. This creates a need for real-time thermal monitoring and management. Indeed, the control of transient temperature gradients or temperature differential variations as well as the prediction of possible induced thermal shocks and stress at early design phases of advanced integrated circuits and systems are essential. This paper addresses the growing requirements of microelectronics applications in several areas that experience fast variations in high-power density and thermal gradient differences caused by the implementation of different systems on the same chip, such as the new-generation 5G circuits. To mitigate adverse thermal effects, a real-time prediction algorithm is proposed and validated using the MCUXpresso tool applied to a Freescale embedded sensor board to monitor and predict its temperature profile in real time by programming the embedded sensor into the FRDM-KL26Z board. Based on discrete temperature measurements, the embedded system is used to predict, in advance, overheating situations in the embedded integrated circuit (IC). These results confirm the peak detection capability of the proposed algorithm that satisfactorily predicts thermal peaks in the FRDM-KL26Z board as modeled with a finite element thermal analysis tool (the Numerical Integrated elements for System Analysis (NISA) tool), to gauge the level of local thermomechanical stresses that may be induced. In this paper, the FPGA implementation and comparison measurements are also presented. This work provides a solution to the thermal stresses and local system overheating that have been a major concern for integrated sensor interface designers when designing integrated circuits in various high-performance technologies or harsh environments.
