Existing implants used with Total Knee Arthroplasty (TKA), Total Hip Arthroplasty (THA), and other joint reconstruction treatments, have displayed premature failures and frequent needs for revision surgery in recent years, particularly with young active patients who represent more than 55% of all joint reconstruction patients. Bone cement and stress shielding have been identified as the major reasons for premature joint failures. A breakdown of the cement may happen, and revision surgery may be needed because of the aseptic loosening. The significant mismatch of stiffness properties of patient trabecular bones and metallic implant materials in joint reconstruction surgery results in the stress shielding phenomenon. This could lead to significant bone resorption and increased risk of bone fracture and the aseptic loosening of implants. The present project introduces an approach for development of customized cellular structures to match the mechanical properties and architecture of human trabecular bone. The present work aims at fulfilling the objectives of the introduced approach by exploring new designs of customized lattice structures and texture tailored to mimic closely patients’ bone anisotropic properties and that can incorporate an engineered biological press-fit fixation technique. The effects of various lattice design variables on the mechanical performance of the structure are examined through a systematic experimental plan using the statistical design of experiments technique and analysis of variance method. All tested lattice designs were explored under realistic geometrical, biological, and manufacturing constraints. Of the four design factors examined in this study, strut thickness was found to have the highest percent contribution (41%) regarding the structure stiffness, followed by unit cell type, and cell size. Strut shape was found to have the lowest effect with only 11% contribution. The introduced solution offers lattice structure designs that can be adjusted to match bone stiffness distribution and promote bone ingrowth and hence eliminating the phenomenon of stress shielding while incorporating biological press-fit fixation technique.

Abstract Background Globally, the burden of maternal malnutrition remains an enormous public health problem; malnourished pregnant women are at increased risk of having low-birth-weight (LBW) infants. Several reports suggest a possible association between malnutrition among lactating mothers and the production of smaller quantities of breast milk. Many women have incorrect nutrition knowledge during pregnancy due to false beliefs derived from popular practices. Our study was conducted to assess nutritional knowledge, myths, and practices among Egyptian women during pregnancy and lactation. Methodology A pretested 2-page interview questionnaire was used to collect data from the study participants after written informed consent was obtained from them after clarification of the study’s aim. Obstetrics and gynecology experts collected the data from pregnant females who agreed to participate in private and university hospital antenatal care clinics in Cairo, Egypt. Results A total of 468 pregnant females completed the interview questionnaire. The mean knowledge score was 5 ± 3, with a median score of 5 and an IQR of 3–7, and the mean holding myths score was 3 ± 2, with a median score of 2 and an IQR of 2–4. Regarding the correct answers to the knowledge questions, more than 70% of the participants correctly answered that during the first six months of life, breast milk is the only food a baby requires, and less than 20% of them correctly answered that caffeine consumption could provoke premature birth. Regarding the holding myths questions, more than half of the participants held the myth that drinking moghat and helba increases the breast milk supply. We found that the most common source of knowledge during pregnancy and lactation among the participants was family and friends’ advice (60%), followed by others (doctors, previous education in school or university) (45%). Conclusion Among a sample of Egyptian women, more than half held at least one myth about nutrition and diet during pregnancy and breastfeeding, so health education at antenatal outpatient clinics should be directed toward those myths to correct them. Older women with sufficient family income showed significantly higher knowledge scores than others.

Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is a devastating neurodegenerative disease, affecting all age groups. Malondialdehyde (MDA) concentration and haemolysis are important oxidative stress biomarkers, implicated in the pathogenesis of AD. The study aimed to evaluate taurine, camel milk (CM) and their combined effects on MDA concentration and haemolysis in AD rats. The animal groupings were; Normal saline (0.2 mL/mg bw); AlCl3 (100 mg/kg); CM (33 mL/kg); Taurine (50 mg/kg); AlCl3 (100 mg/kg) + CM (33 mL/kg); AlCl3 (100 mg/kg) + Taurine (50 mg/kg) and AlCl3 (100 mg/kg) + CM (33 mL/kg) + Taurine (50 mg/kg). Concentration of MDA and percentage haemolysis were determined for all groups. At 0.5% NaCl, haemolysis in AD rats (64.00 ± 1.27 %) was higher (p < 0.05) than in AD + CM (51.50 ± 2.96 %) and AD + CM + Taurine (52.00 ± 1.53%) rats. MDA concentration was lowered (p < 0.05) in taurine-treated rats than controls, but it increased with haemolysis in AD rats compared to other groups. Taurine and/or CM exhibited antioxidant activity by decreasing haemolysis and MDA concentration in AD groups, and may be beneficial in mitigating AD-induced oxidative stress changes.

Abstract Graffiti is an urban phenomenon that is increasingly attracting the interest of the sciences. To the best of our knowledge, no suitable data corpora are available for systematic research until now. The Information System Graffiti in Germany project (Ingrid) closes this gap by dealing with graffiti image collections that have been made available to the project for public use. Within Ingrid, the graffiti images are collected, digitized and annotated. With this work, we aim to support the rapid access to a comprehensive data source on Ingrid targeted especially by researchers. In particular, we present IngridKG, an RDF knowledge graph of annotated graffiti, abides by the Linked Data and FAIR principles. We weekly update IngridKG by augmenting the new annotated graffiti to our knowledge graph. Our generation pipeline applies RDF data conversion, link discovery and data fusion approaches to the original data. The current version of IngridKG contains 460,640,154 triples and is linked to 3 other knowledge graphs by over 200,000 links. In our use case studies, we demonstrate the usefulness of our knowledge graph for different applications.

Abstract Background The Induction of labor is the most common obstetric procedure in daily practice. Introducing propranolol as a new drug to augment the action of prostaglandins will help in the induction process and decrease CS rates. Several researchers have used propranolol in the augmentation of labor. Aim This pilot study compares propranolol and misoprostol versus misoprostol alone for labor induction in primigravids. Methods This is a Randomized clinical trial, single-blinded, placebo-controlled trial at Ain Shams University Maternity hospital. This study included 128 pregnant full-term primigravid women candidates for labor induction, randomized into two groups. All candidates underwent labor induction with 25 µg of vaginal misoprostol. Group I received 20 mg of oral propranolol tablets, while group II received sugary pills as a placebo. Candidates who responded successfully to induction were assessed for possible augmentation of labor by amniotomy or oxytocin infusion. The Primary outcome was induction to delivery interval, while the secondary outcomes were the duration of the latent phase, mode of delivery, and APGAR score of the neonate. Results The induction-delivery time was (11.8 ± 8.1 h. vs. 12.6 ± 8.9 h., P value = 0.027) and the duration of the latent phase of labor (7.9 ± 5.6 h. vs. 9.2 ± 6.03 h., P value = 0.017) were significantly shorter in the group of misoprostol and propranolol compared to the group of misoprostol and placebo. There was no statistically significant difference between both groups’ mode of delivery, indications for cesarean section, misoprostol, and oxytocin doses, or neonatal outcome. (P value > 0.05). Conclusion Propranolol, when used with misoprostol for induction of labor, results in augmentation of action of misoprostol and a significantly shorter induction-delivery interval. Creating the cinematic mind of the cinematic world with its cars, buildings, streets and people is relatively unhelpful for the spectator's experience in most films because he experiences it in reality better, of course. But a coherent and comprehensive concept of cinematic being must be able to explain the film's objects and the film's style. In order to ultimately help the spectator to understand flexible cinematic thinking.The idea resides inside the head of the spectator, and settles there until a particular film merges into cinematic thinking that recreates the real world of the spectator in an interesting narrative way in displaying and arranging events through the use of visual and audio effects.Stylistic analysis concepts help us get close acquaintance with the constituent elements of cinematic form and thus our ability to know the preferences of spectators and the characteristics of the cinematic elements that influence their emotional response. In comparison between the descriptive analysis and the functional analysis, job analysis will be concerned with fewer relationships between the elements of the film, as they belong to the shape or style of the film, as it is not always that all the possible relationships between the elements contribute to the achievement of the goal of the film. Of course, if all relationships do, the functional explanation will care about them all. But that will be the exception and not the rule. This type of analysis is not only a description of the film, but an explanation of the way the film took, so this analysis increases our understanding and understanding of the work we are dealing with.The research also discusses recent studies in cinematic music by applying two models to explain the ways in which cinematic music interacts with the spectator's psychological world, which are interpretations similar to the ones built through studies that explain visual stimuli and images in cinema.To define the semantic functions and narrative functions of the influence of cinematic music on spectator response in light of psychoanalytic theory and cognitive science.

Background: Placental chorangiosis is a response to fetal hypoxia, linked to be associated with maternal/fetal disorders and higher mortality rates. Therefore, this study aimed to explore the association of placental chorangiosis with specific maternal clinical risk factors, as well as its impact on pregnancy outcomes compared to pregnancies with normal placental conditions. Methods: This retrospective case-control study was conducted at King Saud University Medical City (KSUMC) between September 2018 and December 2021. A total of 78 pregnant women were included, and 26 cases of placental chorangiosis were identified and included in the study, which were randomly matched to 52 controls. The demographic data of maternal factors (age, body mass index (BMI), type of gestation, gravidity, and parity) and pregnancy outcomes (abortion, gestation age at delivery, mode of delivery, born alive or not, Appearance, Pulse, Grimace, Activity, and Respiration (APGAR) score at 1 and 5 minutes, birth weight, and mean placental weight) were retrieved from the patient’s medical records, all placental histopathological examination were reviewed. Simple and multiple logistic regression analysis were used, and crude and adjusted odds ratios (ORs) and relative risk (RR) were reported with a 95% confidence interval (95% CI). Results: None of the potential maternal risk factors (age, BMI, type of gestation, gravidity, and parity) were statistically associated with chorangiosis. Chorangiosis, however, exhibit statistically significant associations with an increased number of abortions (RR: 21.59, 95% CI: 1.24–376.20, p = 0.003), intrauterine fetal death (IUFD; RR: 4.50, 95% CI: 1.53–13.25, p = 0.004), and low neonatal APGAR scores at 5 minutes (RR: 3.31, 95% CI: 1.22–9.01, p = 0.029). Conclusion: Placental chorangiosis is a rare pathological change in the placenta resulting from the interaction of several maternal and fetal disorders. When present, it can serve as an important indicator of chronic fetal hypoxia and predict poor obstetrical outcomes.

Knowledge graphs (KGs) that follow the Linked Data principles are created daily. However, there are no holistic models for the Linked Open Data (LOD). Building these models(i.e., engineering a pipeline system) is still a big challenge in order to make the LOD vision comes true. In this paper, we address this challenge by presenting NELLIE, a pipeline architecture to build a chain of modules, in which each of our modules addresses one data augmentation challenge. The ultimate goal of the proposed architecture is to build a single fused knowledge graph out of the LOD. NELLIE starts by crawling the available knowledge graphs in the LOD cloud. It then finds a set of matching KG pairs. NELLIE uses a two-phase linking approach for each pair (first an ontology matching phase, then an instance matching phase). Based on the ontology and instance matching, NELLIE fuses each pair of knowledge graphs into a single knowledge graph. The resulting fused KG is then an ideal data source for knowledge-driven applications such as search engines, question answering, digital assistants and drug discovery. Our evaluation shows an improved $Hit \text{@} 1$ score of the link prediction task on the resulting fused knowledge graph by NELLIE in up to 94.44% of the cases. Our evaluation also shows a runtime improvement by several orders of magnitude when comparing our two-phases linking approach with the estimated runtime of linking using a naïve approach.

The present work presents evaluation and experimental verification of the use of X-ray computed tomographic microscopy (micro-CT) for accurate characterization of geometry, microarchitecture, and stiffness properties of bones. These properties are crucial for designing and building optimized implants for joint and dental reconstruction applications. High-resolution micro-CT scans would provide more detailed and accurate information about the microarchitecture and density distribution across patient bones. Nevertheless, micro-CT applications on live patients require invasive procedures involving small bone biopsy specimens. Alternatively, micro-CT could be used on samples collected from selected cadavers of different age, gender, and race groups to establish a database that could be used for providing useful microarchitecture information. The micro-CT scans of investigated bone samples reveal that the trabecular bone is anisotropic and heterogeneous. The results also showed considerable degree of parametric variability and uncertainty on microarchitecture and stiffness properties of patient’s trabecular bone.

BackgroundWe evaluated apoptosis-associated speck-like protein containing a caspase recruitment domain (ASC) as a schwannoma tumor suppressor and explored its utilization in a schwannoma gene therapy strategy that may be translated to clinical use.MethodsASC protein expression and mRNA level were assessed in human schwannoma by immunohistochemistry and quantitative PCR, respectively. Methylation- specific PCR was used to assess ASC promoter methylation. The effect of ASC overexpression in schwannoma cells was evaluated through ATP-based viability, lactate dehydrogenase release, and apoptosis staining. Western blotting and colorimetric assay were used to test the effect of ASC overexpression on endogenous pro-apoptotic pathways. Bioluminescence imaging, behavioral testing, and immunohistochemistry in human xenograft and murine allograft schwannoma models were used to examine the efficacy and toxicity of intratumoral injection of adeno-associated virus (AAV) vector encoding ASC.ResultsASC expression was suppressed via promoter methylation in over 80% of the human schwannomas tested. ASC overexpression in schwannoma cells results in cell death and is associated with activation of endogenous caspase-9, caspase-3, and upregulation of BH3 interacting-domain death agonist. In a human xenograft schwannoma model, AAV1-mediated ASC delivery reduced tumor growth and resolved tumor-associated pain without detectable toxicity, and tumor control was associated with reduced Ki67 mitotic index and increased tumor-cell apoptosis. Efficacy of this schwannoma gene therapy strategy was confirmed in a murine schwannoma model.ConclusionWe have identified ASC as a putative schwannoma tumor suppressor with high potential clinical utility for schwannoma gene therapy and generated a vector that treats schwannomas via a novel mechanism that does not overlap with current treatments.

Hepatocyte nuclear factor-1 beta (HNF1B) gene is predominantly expressed in the liver, kidney, lung, genitourinary tract, and pancreas. It is an important transcription factor that regulates pancreas development. Mutation or absence of this gene is rare and can cause incomplete pancreatic development known as the agenesis of the dorsal pancreas. This rare genetic abnormality is associated with other disorders like maturity-onset diabetes of the young, abnormal liver function tests, genitourinary tract malformation, pancreatitis, and renal cysts. Diagnosing this genetic abnormality is difficult, especially in patients presenting with symptoms specific to only one system. Management is based on disease manifestation and involves a multidisciplinary approach. Our case describes a 51-year-old female with poorly controlled diabetes mellitus and Mullerian duct anomalies who presented with abdominal pain, fatigue, dizziness, and electrolyte derangement. Contrast-enhanced computed tomography (CECT) of the abdomen showed a multicystic kidney and a pancreatic head with a missing body and tail. Further workup revealed an HNF1B mutation.

Abstract Selenium nanoparticles (SeNPs) have attracted considerable attention globally due to their significant potential for alleviating abiotic stresses in plants. Accordingly, further research has been conducted to develop nanoparticles using chemical ways. However, our knowledge about the potential benefit or phytotoxicity of bioSeNPs in rapeseed is still unclear. Herein, we investigated the effect of bioSeNPs on growth and physiochemical attributes, and selenium detoxification pathways compared to sodium selenite (Se (IV)) during the early seedling stage under normal and salt stress conditions. Our findings showed that the range between optimal and toxic levels of bioSeNPs was wider than Se (IV), which increased the plant’s ability to reduce salinity-induced oxidative stress. BioSeNPs improved the phenotypic characteristics of rapeseed seedlings without the sign of toxicity, markedly elevated germination, growth, photosynthetic efficiency and osmolyte accumulation versus Se (IV) under normal and salt stress conditions. In addition to modulation of Na+ and K+ uptake, bioSeNPs minimized the ROS level and MDA content by activating the antioxidant enzymes engaged in ROS detoxification by regulating these enzyme-related genes expression patterns. Importantly, the main effect of bioSeNPs and Se (IV) on plant growth appeared to be correlated with the change in the expression levels of Se-related genes. Our qRT-PCR results revealed that the genes involved in Se detoxification in root tissue were upregulated upon Se (IV) treated seedlings compared to NPs, indicating that bioSeNPs have a slightly toxic effect under higher concentrations. Furthermore, bioSeNPs might improve lateral root production by increasing the expression level of LBD16. Taken together, transamination and selenation were more functional methods of Se detoxification and proposed different degradation pathways that synthesized malformed or deformed selenoproteins, which provided essential mechanisms to increase Se tolerance at higher concentrations in rapeseed seedlings. Current findings could add more knowledge regarding the mechanisms underlying bioSeNPs induced plant growth. Graphical Abstract

Context: Interindividual variability in pain is modified by interactions of multiple biopsychosocial factors. Though there are reported findings on pain variability from studies around the world, the relationship between pain outcomes and anthropometric profiles remains unclear due to conflicting findings. Aim: This study was designed to investigate relationships between experimental pain outcomes and anthropometric profiles in a healthy Nigerian population. Materials and Methods: One hundred and sixty-one healthy volunteers aged 20 to 65 years were recruited for the study. Experimental pain was induced using cold pressor pain, pressure pain, and ischemic pain procedures. Results: We found that subjects with a normal body mass index (BMI) had a statistically significant higher ischemic pain tolerance than their obese counterparts. Right-handed participants had higher cold pressor pain thresholds than their left-handed counterparts, and the difference was statistically significant. Hb genotype and blood groups affected experimental pain outcomes. There was a statistically significant negative correlation between BMI and ischemic pain tolerance. Conclusion: We concluded that the association between BMI and experimental pain outcomes depends on the type of pain induction method used. Right-handedness appeared to be associated with increased cold pressor pain threshold. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Large-scale residential projects require architects to balance energy efficiency, thermal comfort, and cost-effectiveness in designing building units distributed in different orientations. Applying a single design to all orientations may not result in comfort conditions and energy efficiency; meanwhile, creating a unique design solution for each orientation can be time-consuming and costly to implement. Despite numerous studies recommending design alternatives for particular orientations, the ranges where orientation changes do not demand a change in the façade design still need to be determined. This research aims to identify ranges for which changes in building orientation do not necessitate changes in the façade design. It involves conducting parametric energy and thermal comfort simulations in a test room and testing the findings using real-life datasets from a large-scale residential project. Glass type, window-to-wall ratio (WWR), and utilization of shading devices were among the design parameters investigated. Results show that for all-year-round occupancy projects, a common solution can be applied for orientation changes between 0° to 10° from the north, −10° from the south, and ±5° from east and west for WWR of less than 50% in hot arid climates. These ranges can increase for small WWRs and when reflective glazing or shading devices are applied. This helps streamline design and construction processes, lower costs, and save energy in large-scale residential projects.

Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is a progressive illness with a slow start that lasts many years; the disease’s consequences are devastating to the patient and the patient’s family. If detected early, the disease’s impact and prognosis can be altered significantly. Blood biosamples are often employed in simple medical testing since they are cost-effective and easy to collect and analyze. This research provides a diagnostic model for Alzheimer’s disease based on federated learning (FL) and hardware acceleration using blood biosamples. We used blood biosample datasets provided by the ADNI website to compare and evaluate the performance of our models. FL has been used to train a shared model without sharing local devices’ raw data with a central server to preserve privacy. We developed a hardware acceleration approach for building our FL model so that we could speed up the training and testing procedures. The VHDL hardware description language and an Altera 10 GX FPGA are utilized to construct the hardware-accelerator approach. The results of the simulations reveal that the proposed methods achieve accuracy and sensitivity for early detection of 89% and 87%, respectively, while simultaneously requiring less time to train than other algorithms considered to be state-of-the-art. The proposed algorithms have a power consumption ranging from 35 to 39 mW, which qualifies them for use in limited devices. Furthermore, the result shows that the proposed method has a lower inference latency (61 ms) than the existing methods with fewer resources.

In this paper we propose an accurate and privacy-preserving scheme that enables a law enforcement agency to locate persons of interest using the camera surveillance systems of public places. Comparing to the existing schemes that measure the Euclidean distance to locate persons using their embedding vectors storing facial features, we use a more accurate approach by training a machine learning model. Moreover, to avoid leaking sensitive information by sharing the images of the public places’ visitors to train the model, we use a federated learning technique to compute the model in a privacy-preserving way. The model is designed in such a way that makes executing it over encrypted data efficient. Specifically, the model is executed by three parties as follows. Each public place computes an embedding vector for each visitor’s image and inputs it to a neural network and encrypts the output using a modified inner product encryption scheme and sends the ciphertext to a cloud server. The law enforcement agency does the same steps on the images of persons of interest. Finally, the server uses these ciphertexts to evaluate the last layer of the model by computing the inner product of the two vectors over encrypted data. The cryptosystem enables the server to compute the inner product of two vectors using their ciphertexts without being able to learn the vectors. We have modified an encryption cryptosystem that is designed for a single public place and a single law enforcement agency to make it more efficient in our application that has multiple public places. To evaluate our scheme, we have conducted extensive experiments and the results confirm that our model is accurate in locating persons of interest with low communication and computation overhead. A formal proof and analysis are used to demonstrate the ability of our scheme to preserve privacy.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is changing every technology we are used to deal with. Autonomy has long been a sought-after goal in vehicles, and now more than ever we are very close to that goal. Big auto manufacturers as well are investing billions of dollars to produce Autonomous Vehicles (AVs). This new technology has the potential to provide more safety for passengers, less crowded roads, congestion alleviation, optimized traffic, fuel-saving, less pollution as well as enhanced travel experience among other benefits. But this new paradigm shift comes with newly introduced privacy issues and security concerns. Vehicles before were dumb mechanical devices, now they are becoming smart, computerized, and connected. They collect huge troves of information, which needs to be protected from breaches. In this work, we investigate security challenges and privacy concerns in AVs. We examine different attacks launched in a layer-based approach. We conceptualize the architecture of AVs in a four-layered model. Then, we survey security and privacy attacks and some of the most promising countermeasures to tackle them. Our goal is to shed light on the open research challenges in the area of AVs as well as offer directions for future research.

Nowadays, sensors, communications connections, and more powerful computing capabilities are added to automobiles, making them more intelligent. The primary goal was to eliminate the need for human control, making them Autonomous Vehicles (AVs). Consequently, researchers thought to put all that newly added computational power to use for other endeavors. Hence, Autonomous Vehicular Cloud Computing (AVCC) models were introduced. Nevertheless, this goal is not an easy undertaking, the dynamic nature of autonomous vehicles introduces a critical challenge in the development of such a distributed computing platform. Furthermore, it presents far complicated issues as far as security and protection of services associated with this framework. In this paper, we center around securing programs running on AVCC. Here, we focus on timing side-channel attacks which aim to leak information about running code, which can be utilized to reverse engineer the program itself. We propose to mitigate these attacks via obfuscated compilation. In particular, we change the control flow of an input program at the compiler level, thereby changing the program’s apparent behavior and accompanying physical manifestations to hinder these attacks. We improve our previous ARM-based implementation to address its limitations and provide more comprehensive coverage for different programs. Our solution is software-based and generically portable - fitting different hardware platforms and numerous input program languages at the source level. Our findings prove a considerable improvement over our previous technique, which may provide more defense against timing side-channels.

Plant hybridization is an important breeding technique essential for producing a genotype (hybrid) with favorable traits (e.g., stress tolerance, pest resistance, high yield potential etc.) to increase agronomic, economic and commercial values. Studying of genetic dominance among the population helps to determine gene action, heritability and candidate gene selection for plant breeding program. Therefore, this investigation was aimed to evaluate gene action, heritability, genetic advance and heterosis of rice root, agronomic, and yield component traits under water deficit conditions. In this study, crossing was performed among the four different water-deficit tolerant rice genotypes to produce better hybrid (F1), segregating (F2) and back-cross (BC1 and BC2) populations. The Giza 178, WAB56-204, and Sakha104 × WAB56-104 populations showed the better physiological and agronomical performances, which provided better adaptability of the populations to water deficit condition. Additionally, the estimation of heterosis and heterobeltiosis of some quantitative traits in rice populations were also studied. The inheritance of all studied traits was influenced by additive gene actions. Dominance gene actions played a major role in controlling the genetic variance among studied traits in both crossed populations under well-watered and drought conditions. The additive × additive type of gene interactions was essential for the inheritance of root length, root/shoot ratio, 1,000-grain weight, and sterility % of two crossed populations under both conditions. On the contrary, the additive × dominance type of gene interactions was effective in the inheritance of all studied traits, except duration in Giza178 × Sakha106, and plant height in Sakha104 × WAB56-104 under water deficit condition. In both crosses, the dominance × dominance type of gene interactions was effective in the inheritance of root volume, root/shoot ratio, number of panicles/plant and 1,000-grain weight under both conditions. Moreover, dominance × dominance type of gene interaction played a major role in the inheritance of root length, number of roots/plant, plant height, panicle length, number of filled grain/panicle and grain yield/plant in Giza178 × Sakha106 under both conditions. The studied traits in both crossed populations indicated better genetic advance as they showed advanced qualitative and quantitative characters in rice populations under water deficit condition. Overall, our findings open a new avenue of future phenotypic and genotypic association studies in rice. These insights might be useful to the plant breeders and farmers for developing water deficit tolerant rice cultivars.
