Abstract

This study critically investigates the Dead Internet Theory, emphasizing how it emerged in the context of a changing digital environment. The growing internet seems to have disappeared somewhere between 2016 and 2017. The virtual world appears lifeless due to the growth of automated creatures and AI-generated content. Despite continuing high levels of human creativity and production, the widespread impact of bots raises significant concerns about the basic structure of the internet. Researchers anticipate that the internet will change beyond recognition in the future because to this transformation, which is being driven by apps like GPT-3. This study illuminates the consequences of online interactions by investigating the widespread impact of AI-driven models such as GPTs and the ensuing discussions regarding the dominant position of AI-generated content. This research examines the growing prevalence of artificial intelligence (AI)-generated material, as evidenced by examples like Imperva's Bot Circulation Report, Twitter bots, Elon Musk's Twitter acquiring it, and phony YouTube views. Through the examination of notable cases like the Twitter bot scandal and the widespread trafficking of phony YouTube views, this study adds to a more comprehensive knowledge of the possible consequences of the increasing prevalence of automated entities in the online environment. Our findings predicted that 99.9% of all media may be AI generated, which raised concerns when ChatGPT became available in 2022. Furthermore, Imperva stated in 2016 that 52% of all Internet traffic is bots now, indicating bots replacing humans, forecasting a day when content generated by AI will dominate. We consider the following problem: can we put a structure on \(\char{cmmi10}{0x58}\) with respect to which \(\char{cmmi10}{0x54}\) has some meaning? In this thesis, the following questions are addressed: when can we endow \(\char{cmmi10}{0x58}\) with a topology such that \(\char{cmmi10}{0x58}\) is homeomorphic to the rationals \(\char{msbm10}{0x51}\) and with respect to which \(\char{cmmi10}{0x54}\) is continuous? We characterize such functions on the rational world. Abstract

Context Excess calories from free sugars are implicated in the epidemics of obesity and type 2 diabetes. Honey is a free sugar but is generally regarded as healthy. Objective The effect of honey on cardiometabolic risk factors was assessed via a systematic review and meta-analysis of controlled trials using the GRADE (Grading of Recommendations, Assessment, Development, and Evaluation) approach. Data Sources MEDLINE, Embase, and the Cochrane Library databases were searched up to January 4, 2021, for controlled trials ≥1 week in duration that assessed the effect of oral honey intake on adiposity, glycemic control, lipids, blood pressure, uric acid, inflammatory markers, and markers of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease. Data Extraction Independent reviewers extracted data and assessed risk of bias. Data were pooled using the inverse variance method and expressed as mean differences (MDs) with 95%CIs. Certainty of evidence was assessed using GRADE. Data Analysis A total of 18 controlled trials (33 trial comparisons, N = 1105 participants) were included. Overall, honey reduced fasting glucose (MD = −0.20 mmol/L, 95%CI, −0.37 to −0.04 mmol/L; low certainty of evidence), total cholesterol (MD = −0.18 mmol/L, 95%CI, −0.33 to −0.04 mmol/L; low certainty), low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (MD = −0.16 mmol/L, 95%CI, −0.30 to −0.02 mmol/L; low certainty), fasting triglycerides (MD = −0.13 mmol/L, 95%CI, −0.20 to −0.07 mmol/L; low certainty), and alanine aminotransferase (MD = −9.75 U/L, 95%CI, −18.29 to −1.21 U/L; low certainty) and increased high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (MD = 0.07 mmol/L, 95%CI, 0.04–0.10 mmol/L; high certainty). There were significant subgroup differences by floral source and by honey processing, with robinia honey, clover honey, and raw honey showing beneficial effects on fasting glucose and total cholesterol. Conclusion Honey, especially robinia, clover, and unprocessed raw honey, may improve glycemic control and lipid levels when consumed within a healthy dietary pattern. Abstract

Rare sugars: Metabolic and physiological properties of rare sugars. Rare sugars are monosaccharides or disaccharides that exist in small quantities in nature and have metabolic and physiological properties that help distinguish them from sugars like fructose and glucose. Unique properties of some rare sugars include slower or lower intestinal absorption rate, lower caloric contribution, improved glycemic response, prebiotic function, and lower risk of tooth decay. Some of the more common rare sugars include tagatose, trehalose, allulose, lactulose, leucrose, and isomaltulose. The scientific literature does not contain a publication that describes the unique properties of several rare sugars within a single document highlighting potential physiological benefits. Given the potential increased use of rare sugars in the diet, this technical narrative review would serve as a foundational piece for future translation to health professionals.

Abstract

High intake of free sugars has been implicated in the epidemics of obesity, diabetes, and related cardiometabolic disorders. While most of the attention has focused on the adverse health effects of common sugars, rare sugars have received far less attention. Rare sugars are defined as ‘monosaccharides and their derivatives that are present in limited quantities in nature’ and have unique differences in their chemical structure compare to traditional sugars. As such, they have shown benefit to physiologic and cardiometabolic health when consumed as an alternative sweetener in in vitro and animal models. Evidence from controlled trials, however, has been inconclusive. To address these uncertainties, the investigators propose to conduct a systematic review and meta-analysis of the totality of the evidence from controlled trials to distinguish the effects of rare sugars in development of markers of cardiometabolic risk. The findings generated by this proposed knowledge synthesis will help improve the health of consumers through informing evidence-based guidelines for the consumption of rare sugars and improving health outcomes by educating healthcare providers and patients, stimulating industry innovation, and guiding future research design.

Abstract

This case highlights an atypical presentation of a patient with unknown history of mental disease who has been diagnosed with a bipolar disorder associated with severe COVID‐19 symptoms. Neuroimaging was only positive for subtle white matter changes; he was treated with antipsychotics and mood‐stabilizing agents until he reached partial remission. The authors urge clinicians to consider the impact of the COVID‐19 pandemic on patients with mental illness and the urgent need for vigilant monitoring of presenting signs and symptoms., Laboratory investigations
