In the present study, we develop and investigate the odd Frechet Half-Logistic (OFHL) distribution that was developed by incorporating the half-logistic and odd Frechet-G family. The OFHL model has very adaptable probability functions: decreasing, increasing, bathtub and inverted U shapes are shown for the hazard rate functions, illustrating the model's capacity for flexibility. A comprehensive account of the mathematical and statistical properties of the proposed model is presented. In estimation viewpoint, six distinct estimation methodologies are used to estimate the unknown parameters of the OFHL model. Furthermore, an extensive Monte Carlo simulation analysis is used to evaluate the effectiveness of these estimators. Finally, two applications to real data are used to demonstrate the versatility of the suggested method, and the comparison is made with the half-logistic and some of its well-known extensions. Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is an immunocompromised disorder characterized by a marked increase in the synthesis of inflammatory molecules that stimulates the destruction of bones and cartilage. The conventional treatment modalities for RA are associated with adverse side effects and lack sensitivity, suggesting an immediate demand for alternate beneficial therapeutic remedies. The current study sought to understand more about zerumbone's anti-inflammatory properties in diagnosing collagen-induced arthritis (CIA) in experimental animals. The current study observed that zerumbone reduced clinical severity in CIA-induced animals compared to healthy animals. Zerumbone administration significantly decreased ( p < 0.001) the concentration of SOD, CAT, GR, and GSH in treatment groups. Zerumbone administration drove down significantly ( p < 0.001) the concentration of inflammatory cytokine molecules. Zerumbone was effective in bringing significant changes in levels of MPO, NO, LDH, MMP-8, and ELA. The therapeutic potential of zerumbone was found to be associated with reduced joint destruction and restored normal histology in the cartilage and tissue. Adsorption, distribution, metabolism, excretion, and toxicity studies were used to determine the druglike properties of zerumbone. ProTox-II studies revealed that zerumbone did not possess toxic properties like hepatotoxicity, immunotoxicity, carcinogenicity, mutagenicity, and cytotoxicity. Objectives: Metabolic syndrome (MetS) represents a clustering of metabolic abnormalities that are associated with an increased risk of type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease. We aimed to evaluate the effects of sesame oil enriched with vitamin E (vit E), sesame oil alone and sunflower oil on lipid profile, fasting blood glucose (FBG), malondialdehyde (MDA), high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (Hs-CRP), homeostatic model assessment (HOMA-IR), and blood pressure (BP) in patients with MetS., Subjects: Overall, 75 individuals with MetS (aged 30-70 years) participated in this randomized, single-blind controlled trial. Patients were randomly allocated to: (1) Group A (n = 25): sesame oil (30 ml/day) enriched with vit E (400 mg/day), (2) Group B (n = 25): sesame oil (30 ml/day), (3) Group C (n = 25): sunflower oil (30 ml/day). Anthropometric data, dietary intake, blood pressure, and biochemical markers, including fasting serum lipids, FBG, serum insulin, MDA, and hs-CRP were measured at baseline and at week 8., Results: In individuals in the sesame oil enriched with vit E group (Group A), there were significant reductions in serum total cholesterol (TC), triglycerides (TG), FBG, HOMA-IR, MDA, hs-CRP, high-density lipoprotein (HDL-C) systolic and diastolic BP (for all the comparison p < 0.02). Similarly, in Group B (taking sesame oil alone), TC, TG, FBG, HOMA-IR, MDA, systolic and diastolic BP were significantly improved (for all the comparison p < 0.025), while there were no significant changes in serum HDL (baseline = 35.9 ± 7.2 mg/dL vs. 36.4 ± 6.2 mg/dL, p = 0.432) and hs-CRP (baseline = 4.38 ± 1.34 mg/dL vs. week 8 = 3.96 ± 1.7 mg/dL, p = 0.057) in second group. No significant changes in any of the studied clinical and anthropometric data were found in Group C (on sunflower oil)., Conclusion: Sesame oil (±vit E) was shown to beneficially affect several cardiometabolic indices (including lipids, FBG, BP, HOMA-IR, and MDA) in patients with MetS.

This study was designed to assess the potential antifibrotic effect of D-Limonene-a component of volatile oils extracted from citrus plants. D-limonene is reported to have numerous therapeutic properties. CCl 4 -intduced model of liver fibrosis in Wistar rats is most widely used model to study chemopreventive studies. CCl 4 -intoxication significantly increased serum aminotransferases and total cholesterol these effects were prevented by cotreatment with D-Limonene. Also, CCl 4 -intoxication caused depletion of glutathione and other antioxidant enzymes while D-Limonene preserved them within normal values. Hydroxyproline and malondialdehyde content was increased markedly by CCl 4 treatment while D-Limonene prevented these alterations. Levels of TNF-α, TGF-β, and α-SMA were also assessed; CCl 4 increased the expression of α-SMA, NF-κB and other downstream inflammatory cascade while D-Limonene co-treatment inhibited them. Collectively these findings indicate that D-Limonene possesses potent antifibrotic effect which may be attributed to its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties., (© 2017 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.)

During the past decade the mode of action of anti-inflammatory drugs has mainly been related to the inhibition of prostaglandin (PGS) synthesis (Vane 1971). In a presentation by Burne (1982) it has been shown that PGS are not the only most important mediators of inflammation, and the inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis alone does not explain all common effects and mode of action of NSAIDs. Hence alternative concepts are presented in this paper, which may be adopted as the mode of action of NSAIDs.
