Purpose – Over recent years, the multi-stakeholder role in sustainable ecotourism within Asia has emerged as a crucial narrative for sustainable ecotourism management across countries on the continent. This trend is perhaps due to the fact that ecotourism is one of the most rapidly growing sectors within the tourism industry. However, to date, no reviews have provided a comprehensive analysis related to the role of multi-stakeholders in the achievement of ecotourism sustainability, particularly in the Asian context. This study aims to fill this knowledge gap by examining the current knowledge regarding multi-stakeholder involvement in sustainable ecotourism within Asia. Design/methodology/approach – A systematic review procedure was followed. 320 articles were finalized, from which 34 related pieces of research were selected from the Scopus and Web of Science databases. Findings – Three themes emerged from this paper. Recommendations were highlighted to enhance sustainable ecotourism. The study concluded that a more enabling research environment should be provided to improve discourse and encourage policy interventions. Originality/value – No previous studies have explored the multi-stakeholder's role in achieving Asian sustainable ecotourism, indicating a critical gap to be fulfilled. This paper uniquely contributes to the field by providing a comprehensive review of the roles and challenges of multiple stakeholders in sustainable ecotourism across Asia and proposing innovative policy solutions tailored to the region's unique socio-economic and cultural context. Moreover, it puts forward potential solutions to bolster sustainable ecotourism within Asia, benefiting both stakeholders and the destination.

Leishmaniasis is one of the global health issues and is still being handled with costly and sometimes unsuccessful compounds having serious side effects, highlighting the importance of seeking new potent antileishmanial compounds. Herbal medicines have been considered as the main source of prevention and treatment for a wide variety of diseases as well as other photogenetic diseases over the last few centuries. The current study was designed to investigate the in vitro and in vivo antileishmanial efficacy of ethanolic and methanolic extracts of Berberis vulgaris root collected from Kurez region of District Orakzai, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. Stationary growth-phase metacyclic promastigotes form of Leishmania tropica was incubated in vitro in methanolic and ethanolic extracts using amphotericin B as a positive control. The antileishmanial activity of B. vulgaris extracts was measured after the incubation period using methoxynitrosulfophenyl-tetrazolium carboxanilide assay. For the in vivo study, BALB/c mice were infected with metacyclic L. tropica promastigotes, and lesions appeared after 28 days of inoculum. The results of study research showed that B. vulgaris extract had a powerful antileishmanial activity on promastigotes of L. tropica at different concentrations (5, 10, 25, 50, and 75 μg/mL). The inhibition concentration 50 values for ethanolic and methanolic extracts of B. vulgaris were determined to be 15.37 and 17.55 μg/mL, respectively. In the in vivo activity, it was observed that B. vulgaris ethanolic extract at the concentration of 1.5 mg/kg decreased the lesion diameter in BALB/c infected mice. The ethanolic extract topically and orally reduced the lesion size 0.51 ± 0.023 and 0.56 ± 0.008 mm, while methanolic extract both topically and orally decrease the lesion diameter of 0.63 ± 0.008 and 0.68 ± 0.009 mm relatively, in comparison with negative control (1.45 ± 0.016 mm). Hematological parameters of mice including blood red blood cells, hematocrit, and hemoglobin in mice groups (infected non-treated) were found to be decreased, while the mice group treated with extract demonstrated nearly similar results to non-infected group. It is concluded from the current study that antileishmanial activity of B. vulgaris from Pakistan against L. tropica in both in vitro and in vivo showed a promising antileishmanial activity. This study might be helpful in the control strategies of cutaneous leishmaniasis caused by L. tropica.

Clinical genomic profiling of cell-free nucleic acids (e.g. cell-free DNA or cfDNA) from blood and other body fluids has ushered in a new era in non-invasive diagnostics and treatment monitoring strategies for health conditions and diseases such as cancer. Genomic analysis of cfDNAs not only identifies disease-associated mutations, but emerging findings suggest that structural, topological, and fragmentation characteristics of cfDNAs reveal crucial information about the location of source tissues, their epigenomes, and other clinically relevant characteristics, leading to the burgeoning field of fragmentomics. The field has seen rapid developments in computational and genomics methodologies for conducting large-scale studies on health conditions and diseases – that have led to fundamental, mechanistic discoveries as well as translational applications. Several recent studies have shown the clinical utilities of the cfDNA fragmentomics technique which has the potential to be effective for early disease diagnosis, determining treatment outcomes, and risk-free continuous patient monitoring in a non-invasive manner. In this article, we outline recent developments in computational genomic methodologies and analysis strategies, as well as the emerging insights from cfNA fragmentomics. We conclude by highlighting the current challenges and opportunities.

Through an analysis of Islamic jurisprudence, ethics, and theological frameworks, the research identifies key considerations and implications for Islamic broadcasters engaging with social media platforms. The study employed a qualitative approach, drawing upon Islamic texts, scholarly literature, and interviews with Islamic broadcasters. Analysis focused on identifying theological principles relevant to social media engagement and examining strategies used by broadcasters to navigate digital communication landscapes. One significant finding is the tension between the imperative to disseminate Islamic teachings widely and the need to maintain theological integrity in online interactions. The study highlights the nuanced approaches taken by Islamic broadcasters to navigate this tension, emphasizing the importance of upholding Islamic values such as tawhid (monotheism) and adab (etiquette) while leveraging the reach and accessibility of social media. Overall, the findings underscore the necessity for a theological re-evaluation of Islamic broadcasting practices in the digital age. By synthesizing traditional Islamic teachings, which refer to the principles, beliefs, and practices that have been passed down in Islam since the time of the Prophet Muhammad SAW and his companions, with contemporary digital realities, this research advocates for an approach that balances the imperative of outreach with the necessity of maintaining theological integrity. It concludes by emphasizing the importance of aligning digital practices with core Islamic values to ensure ethical and responsible engagement with social media platforms.

The advent of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) has spurred the development of innovative products, significantly impacting industries reliant on technology-oriented machinery and equipment, notably the construction sector. In response, the Ministry of Works, through CIDB Malaysia, has implemented the Construction Strategy Plan 4.0 (2021 – –2025), grounded in 4IR principles, to facilitate the construction industry's gradual adaptation to technological advancements. Despite its introduction in 2016 to enhance project delivery efficiency and effectiveness, the extent of adoption of advanced 4IR-related technologies and the industry players' awareness of the importance of the Construction 4.0 strategic plan remains largely unexplored. Therefore, this paper examines the awareness and adoption level of CR 4.0 technologies in the Malaysian construction industry through a structured questionnaire survey with all G1-G7 contractors that registered with CIDB Malaysia. In the contemporary media landscape, where journalism plays a crucial role in shaping public discourse, it becomes imperative to analyze how Islamic values are communicated through the lens of ethical journalism. The study aims to investigate the application of Islamic theology and ethical principles in values-based journalism, emphasizing the role of media in reflecting and shaping societal norms. By employing a qualitative research approach, content analysis will be conducted on a sample of news articles, opinion pieces, and other journalistic content with an Islamic focus. The analysis will delve into how these pieces adhere to or deviate from established theological principles and ethical guidelines. Furthermore, the research seeks to identify challenges faced by journalists and media organizations when attempting to integrate Islamic values into their narratives. It also explores potential strategies and best practices for overcoming these challenges, fostering a more nuanced and ethical communication of Islamic perspectives. The findings of this study aim to contribute to the ongoing discourse on the role of theology and ethics in journalism, providing insights into how media professionals can effectively communicate Islamic values while upholding ethical standards. Background: Pseudomonas aeruginosa is an opportunistic pathogen that uses quorum-sensing (QS) and biofilm formation to subvert antibiotic therapy. Antibiotic resistance has led to a demand for alternative methods of treatment, and destabilizing the LasR-OdDHL binding with inhibitors offers a potential solution. Methods: This study aimed to construct a homology model of the LasR protein using the genetic sequence of the P. aeruginosa DMC-27b strain (GenBank: SMRY00000000.2). Molecular docking, molecular mechanics-based binding free energy calculation, and pharmacokinetic analysis were performed on 1900 3D structures collected from synthetic and natural compound databases to identify three potential lead molecules. These compounds were evaluated using ADMET (absorption, distribution, metabolism, excretion, toxicity) analysis, and molecular dynamics protocols were used to refine the results. Results: The three lead compounds showed higher binding capability with the LasR receptor than the native ligand and passed the ADMET evaluation stage. In total, 44 properties remained within the range of 95% of known drugs, indicating their potential efficacy as drugs against P. aeruginosa and other bacteria that use a similar QS system. Conclusions: This study provides insights into potential drug designing and development against clinical isolates of emerging P. aeruginosa strains and other bacteria that use a similar QS system.

An aircraft is a highly intricate system that features numerous subsystems, assemblies, and individual components for which regular maintenance is inevitable. The operational efficiency of an aircraft can be maximised, and its maintenance needs can be reduced using an effective yet automatic AI-based health monitoring systems which are more efficient as compared to designing and constructing expensive and harder to operate engine testbeds. It has been observed that aircraft engine anomalies such as undergoing flameouts can occur due to the rapid change in the temperature of the engine. Engine oil temperature and cylinder head temperature, two measures connected to this issue, might be affected differently depending on flight modes and operational conditions which in turn hamper AI-based algorithms to yield accurate prediction on engine failures. In general, previous studies lack comprehensive analysis on anomaly prediction in piston engine aircraft using modern machine learning solutions. Furthermore, abrupt variation in aircraft sensors' data and noise result in either overfitting or unfavourable performance by such techniques. This work aims at studying conventional machine learning and deep learning models to foretell the possibility of engine flameout using engine oil and cylinder head temperatures of a widely used Textron Lycoming IO-540 six-cylinder piston engine. This is achieved through pre-processing the data extracted from the aircraft's real-time flight data recorder followed by prediction using specially designed multi-modal regularised Long Short-Term Memory network to enhance generalisation and avoid overfitting on highly variable data. The proposed architecture yields improved results with root mean square error of 0.55 and 3.20 on cylinder head and engine oil temperatures respectively averaged over three case studies of five different flights. These scores are significantly better i.e., up to 84% as compared to other popular machine learning predictive approaches including Random Forest, Decision Tree Regression, Artificial Neural Networks and vanilla Long Short-Term Memory networks. Through performance evaluation, it can be established that the proposed system is capable of predicting engine flameout 2 minutes ahead and is suitable for integration with the software system of aircraft's engine control unit.

En toda la literatura árabe hay abundantes ejemplos de un fenómeno que podría llamarse “analogía de la hermosura”. Generalmente, estas comparaciones constituyen alegorías en las que reiterados rasgos de una mujer ideal son equiparados con características hermosas de ciertos animales, sin que el motivo de dicha asociación quede elucidado. La notable presencia de tales analogías en la tradición árabe, tanto en la poesía como en la lexicografía, denota una extensa tópica literaria más que un mero recurso estilístico aislado. Este artículo pretende exponer e identificar dichas manifestaciones literarias, así como sugerir posibles explicaciones acerca de su razón de ser en la tradición y la cultura árabes.

PurposeTo investigate the toxicity profile and establish an optimal dosing schedule of zotiraciclib with temozolomide in patients with recurrent high-grade astrocytoma.Patients and methodsThis two-stage phase I trial determined the MTD of zotiraciclib combined with either dose-dense (Arm1) or metronomic (Arm2) temozolomide using a Bayesian Optimal Interval design; then a randomized cohort expansion compared the progression-free survival rate at 4 months (PFS4) of the two arms for an efficient determination of a temozolomide schedule to combine with zotiraciclib at MTD. Pharmacokinetic and pharmacogenomic profiling were included. Patient-reported outcome was evaluated by longitudinal symptom burden.ResultsFifty-three patients were enrolled. Dose-limiting toxicities were neutropenia, diarrhea, elevated liver enzymes, and fatigue. MTD of zotiraciclib was 250 mg in both arms and thus selected for the cohort expansion. Dose-dense temozolomide plus zotiraciclib (PSF4 40%) compared favorably with metronomic temozolomide (PFS4 25%). Symptom burden worsened at cycle 2 but stabilized by cycle 4 in both arms. A significant decrease in absolute neutrophil count and neutrophil reactive oxygen species production occurred 12-24 hours after an oral dose of zotiraciclib but both recovered by 72 hours. Pharmacokinetic/pharmacogenomic analyses revealed that the CYP1A2_5347T>C (rs2470890) polymorphism was associated with higher AUCinf value.ConclusionsZotiraciclib combined with temozolomide is safe in patients with recurrent high-grade astrocytomas. Zotiraciclib-induced neutropenia can be profound but mostly transient, warranting close monitoring rather than treatment discontinuation. Once validated, polymorphisms predicting drug metabolism may allow personalized dosing of zotiraciclib.
