Present study is an attempt to have a detailed look into event-by-event(e-by-e) pseudorapidity fluctuations of the relativistic charged particles produced in $^{28}$Si-nucleus interactions at incident momenta 4.5A and 14.5A GeV/c.The method used in the present study makes use of a kinematic variable which is derived in terms of the average pseudo-rapidity and the total number of particles produced in a single event. The multiplicity and pseudorapidity dependence of these fluctuations have also been studied. The results obtained for the experimental data are compared with HIJING simulation.

11. A Study of Multifractal Analysis in 16O-AgBr Collisions at 60A and 200A GeV

A multifractal analysis to study the multiparticle dynamics in 60A and 200A GeV/c 16O-AgBr collisions has been performed in the pseudorapidity phase space. Multifractal moments Gq as the function of pseudorapidity bin size for different order of the moments, q have been calculated. The power-law behaviour has been observed in the considered data sets. The variation of multifractal dimensions, Dq and multifractal spectral function, f($\alpha$q) with order of the moments, q have been studied thoroughly. Dq is found to decrease with increasing order of the moments, q indicating thereby a self-similar behaviour in the multiparticle production in the considered collisions. 12. A Study of Pseudo-Central Collision Events Observed in Pion-Nucleus Interactions

The present study is based on the interactions caused by 340-GeV negative pions with emulsion nuclei. The main aim of this paper is to investigate some aspects of central collision events. Thus, the events in which the total number of charged shower particles is greater than or equal to twenty eight (Ns geq 28) were chosen for the analysis. They are not exactly central collision events, but may be considered as pseudo-central collision events. The angular characteristics of relativistic charged secondaries have been studied in terms of pseudo-rapidity, and bimodality is found to be absent in the distributions. The mean pseudo-rapidity seems to be independent of grey and heavy particle multiplicities, which indicates its independence with number of collisions. - Abstract
Kajian-kajian terdahulu menemui bahawa tahap penguasaan pelajar terhadap subjek balaghah adalah sangat lemah. Hal ini berpunca daripada permasalahan proses pengajaran dan pembelajaran, penumpuan kepada hafalan kaedah dan contoh-contoh unsur balaghah tanpa memberi penekanan kepada unsur aplikasi. Kebanyakan kajian terdahulu merumuskan bahawa pengajaran dan pembelajaran subjek balaghah perlu diberikan anjakan paradigma bukan sahaja dari sudut sukatan pelajaran, kaedah dan teknik, malah juga perlu diterapkan penggunaan teknologi demi menarik minat pelajar mempelajari dan mendalami subjek balaghah. Justeru itu, satu kajian kuantitatif dan deskriptif telah dilakukan bertujuan mengenalpasti persepsi pelajar terhadap pembelajaran dan pengajaran balaghah menggunakan pendekatan teknologi. Kajian ini dilakukan terhadap pelajar dalam bidang pengajian Bahasa Arab di beberapa institusi pengajian tinggi (IPT). Sampel kajian ini melibatkan 129 orang responden daripada IPT yang berbeza dan menggunakan instrumen soal selidik melalui google form dalam mendapatkan maklum balas. Hasil maklumbalas daripada pelajar mendapati bahawa penggunaan teknologi dalam pembelajaran dan pengajaran subjek balaghah adalah berada pada tahap sederhana, sedangkan kecenderungan pelajar untuk mempelajari dan memahami subjek balaghah melalui penggunaan teknologi adalah tinggi. Oleh itu, penyelidik berpandangan satu kajian berkaitan analisis keperluan pelajar terhadap penggunaan teknologi dalam memahami subjek balaghah perlu diusahakan ke arah penginovasian dalam pembelajaran dan pengajaran subjek balaghah selain berupaya mewujudkan pengalaman baharu dalam pembelajaran dan pengajaran balaghah di IPT.

This present work reports the facile sol-gel synthesis of Y3+ doped Ba(Ce,Zr)O3 with composition of BaCe0.54Zr0.36Y0.10O2.95 (BCZY). Series of six samples were prepared using various chelating agents namely citric acid (denoted as S1, 210 g/mol), tartaric acid (S2, 150 g/mol), glycolic acid (S3, 70 g/mol), nitriloacetic acid (S4, 191 g/mol), ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (S5, 292 g/mol) and triethylenetetramine (TETA) (S6, 146 g/mol). The influence of chelating agents’ molecular weight (Mw) and functional group on thermal decomposition, phase formation and morphology of BCZY were explored. The reaction products obtained after heat treatment were characterized by Thermal Gravimetric Analyzer (TGA), Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) spectrometer, X-ray diffractometer (XRD) and Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) equipped with Energy Dispersive X-ray (EDX) spectrometer. TGA along with FTIR analysis confirmed that the thermal decomposition of all samples achieved almost completion at processing temperature below 1000 °C. TGA verified the weight loss of intermediate compounds increased with an increase in the Mw of the chelating agents in the following trend: S3 (28%)

Cockle shells are a natural reservoir of calcium carbonate (CaCO3), which is widely used in bone repair, tissue scaffolds, and the development of advanced drug delivery systems. Although many studies report on the preparation of CaCO3, the development of a nanosized spherical CaCO3 precursor for calcium oxide (CaO) that is suitable to be incorporated in dental material was scarce. Therefore, this study aimed to synthesize a nanosized spherical CaCO3 precursor for CaO derived from cockle shells using a sol–gel method. Cockle shells were crushed to powder form and mixed with hydrochloric acid, forming calcium chloride (CaCl2). Potassium carbonate (K2CO3) was then fed to the diluted CaCl2 to obtain CaCO3. The effect of experimental parameters on the morphology of CaCO3, such as volume of water, type of solvents, feeding rate of K2CO3, and drying method, were investigated using field-emission scanning electron microscopy, energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, X-ray diffractometry (XRD), Brunauer–Emmett–Teller surface area analysis, and thermogravimetric analysis. Optimized CaCO3 was then calcined to form CaO. XRD analysis of CaCO3 nanoparticles was indicative of the formation of a calcite phase. The well-structured spherical shape of CaCO3 was obtained by the optimum condition of the addition of 50 mL of water into CaCl2 in ethanolic solution with a 1 h feeding rate of K2CO3. Less agglomeration of CaCO3 was obtained using a freeze-drying technique with the surface area of 26 m2/g and average particle size of 39 nm. Spherical shaped nanosized CaO (22–70 nm) was also synthesized. The reproducibility, low cost, and simplicity of the method suggest its potential applications in the large-scale synthesis of the nanoparticles, with spherical morphology in an industrial setting.

34. Synthesis and Properties of Novel Calcia-Stabilized Zirconia (Ca-SZ) with Nano Calcium Oxide Derived from Cockle Shells and Commercial Source for Dental Application

Various oxides are used to stabilize zirconium oxide (ZrO2), but their superior hardness causes wear of the machining tool. Calcia-doped zirconia has been studied but reports on properties suitable for dental application are lacking. Therefore, this study aimed to fabricate and characterize zirconia stabilized by calcium oxide (CaO) derived from cockle shells and compare it with zirconia stabilized by commercial CaO, sintered at different temperatures. In this study, 176 pressed pellets of zirconia mixed with CaO either derived from cockle shells or commercial CaO were sintered between 1200 and 1500 °C to produce calcia-doped zirconia. Characterizations were made with SEM and XRD. Specimens were subjected to density, compressive and flexural strength, and Vickers hardness testing. Data were analyzed using the independent t-test and one-way ANOVA. XRD revealed the zirconia was stabilized into tetragonal and cubic phases (Ca-SZ). Ca-SZ cockle shells (CS) and Ca-SZ commercial (CC) have average particle sizes of 267 nm and 272 nm, respectively, with similar surface roughness. At 1400 °C sintering temperature, flexural strengths were 1165 and 1152 MPa, compressive strengths were 4914 and 4913 MPa, and Vickers hardness were 977 and 960 MPa for Ca-SZ(CS) and Ca-SZ(CC), respectively. Both Ca-SZ materials showed no significant difference in most properties (p < 0.05) when sintered at different temperatures. The fully sintered Ca-SZ is less hard compared to the ceria-stabilized tetragonal zirconia polycrystal (Ce-TZP) available on the market. Thus, Ca-SZ may be used as an alternative to the current zirconia available on the market for dental application.

The hydrothermal method has been used to prepare Ni(OH)2 photocathode. The photoelectrochemical (PEC) reduction of CO2 over Ni(OH)2 has been conducted in 0.2 M LiClO4 in aqueous and N,N-dimethylformamide (DMF) medium under visible light irradiation. The thin film was characterized by XRD, UV–Vis, FTIR, FESEM-EDX, BET analysis, and electrochemical method for the determination of phases, bandgap energy, chemical bonding, surface morphology, elemental compositions, surface area, and electrochemical properties, respectively. Based on UV–Vis spectroscopy, the bandgap energy of Ni(OH)2 was 1.8 eV which enabled efficient visible light absorption for the photoreaction. The photocurrent density in aqueous and DMF solution at 0.2 V (vs. Ag/AgCl) was 24 mA cm−2 and 5 mA cm−2, respectively. Acetaldehyde and methanol are the products in aqueous solution, while formic acid and methanol are the products in DMF, after 6 h of photoelectrolysis. The product formations from the photoelectrochemical reduction of dissolved CO2 were 612 and 854 ppm in aqueous and DMF, respectively, where the Faradaic efficiency in aqueous and DMF is 24 and 33%, respectively. Furthermore, throughout the PEC study, the transformation of Ni(OH)2 to NiO plays a significant role in the formation of organic oxygenates from the reduction reaction of CO2.

Excessive emission of carbon dioxide (CO2) into the environment in addition to depletion of natural fossil fuel leads to the environmental pollution and energy crisis. Therefore, the photelectroreduction of CO2 is a suitable and versatile technique to convert CO2 gas into valuable organic products. Herein, Ru/Mn/Co (1:13:13) supported anatase TiO2 has been prepared using precipitation method and tested for photoelectrochemical reduction of CO2 into formic acid in aqueous and N,N-dimethylformamide (DMF) under visible light. Incorporation of Ru, Mn, and Co successfully reduced the bandgap to 1.66 eV and shifted the light absorption to the visible region with effective suppression of charge carriers recombination which is injurious to the photocatalytic reaction resultant in better photocatalytic performance. The photocurrent density in the aqueous medium is higher than DMF with a value of 12 μA cm−2 vs. Ag/AgCl. Stable photocurrent form chronoamperometry indicative of better product selectivity toward formic acid with Faradaic efficiency in aqueous and DMF are 0.8% and 2.23%, respectively.

Anatase supported heterogeneous photocatalyst consisting of RuO2, MnO2 and Co3O4 (1:13:13 ratio) was synthesized by a precipitation method and tested for photoelectrocatalytic (PEC) oxidation of methanol in 0.1 M KOH under visible light irradiation. The as-prepared photocatalyst was characterized by FTIR, UV–vis, XRD, Raman spectroscopy, FESEM/EDX, TEM, BET, XPS and TPR. The PEC studies by cyclic voltammetry indicated that the oxidation of methanol to CO2 and H2O upon exposure to visible light occurs between 400 and 800 nm. The smaller value of the charge transfer resistance (Rct) of the RuO2 MnO2 Co3O4 supported anatase TiO2 electrode indicates a faster rate of charge transfer at the electrode-electrolyte interface compared to the Pt/C catalyst, which could be promising for direct methanol fuel cell application.

Cockle shells are a natural reservoir of calcium carbonate (CaCO3), which is widely used in bone repair, tissue scaffolds, and the development of advanced drug delivery systems. Although many studies report on the preparation of CaCO3, the development of a nanosized spherical CaCO3 precursor for calcium oxide (CaO) that is suitable to be incorporated in dental material was scarce. Therefore, this study aimed to synthesize a nanosized spherical CaCO3 precursor for CaO derived from cockle shells using a sol&ndash, gel method. Cockle shells were crushed to powder form and mixed with hydrochloric acid, forming calcium chloride (CaCl2). Potassium carbonate (K2CO3) was then fed to the diluted CaCl2 to obtain CaCO3. The effect of experimental parameters on the morphology of CaCO3, such as volume of water, type of solvents, feeding rate of K2CO3, and drying method, were investigated using field-emission scanning electron microscopy, energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, X-ray diffractometry (XRD), Brunauer&ndash, Emmett&ndash, Teller surface area analysis, and thermogravimetric analysis. Optimized CaCO3 was then calcined to form CaO. XRD analysis of CaCO3 nanoparticles was indicative of the formation of a calcite phase. The well-structured spherical shape of CaCO3 was obtained by the optimum condition of the addition of 50 mL of water into CaCl2 in ethanolic solution with a 1 h feeding rate of K2CO3. Less agglomeration of CaCO3 was obtained using a freeze-drying technique with the surface area of 26 m2/g and average particle size of 39 nm. Spherical shaped nanosized CaO (22&ndash, 70 nm) was also synthesized. The reproducibility, low cost, and simplicity of the method suggest its potential applications in the large-scale synthesis of the nanoparticles, with spherical morphology in an industrial setting.

Various oxides are used to stabilize zirconium oxide (ZrO2), but their superior hardness causes wear of the machining tool. Calcia-doped zirconia has been studied but reports on properties suitable for dental application are lacking. Therefore, this study aimed to fabricate and characterize zirconia stabilized by calcium oxide (CaO) derived from cockle shells and compare it with zirconia stabilized by commercial CaO, sintered at different temperatures. In this study, 176 pressed pellets of zirconia mixed with CaO either derived from cockle shells or commercial CaO were sintered between 1200 and 1500 °, C to produce calcia-doped zirconia. Characterizations were made with SEM and XRD. Specimens were subjected to density, compressive and flexural strength, and Vickers hardness testing. Data were analyzed using the independent t-test and one-way ANOVA. XRD revealed the zirconia was stabilized into tetragonal and cubic phases (Ca-SZ). Ca-SZ cockle shells (CS) and Ca-SZ commercial (CC) have average particle sizes of 267 nm and 272 nm, respectively, with similar surface roughness. At 1400 °, C sintering temperature, flexural strengths were 1165 and 1152 MPa, compressive strengths were 4914 and 4913 MPa, and Vickers hardness were 977 and 960 MPa for Ca-SZ(CS) and Ca-SZ(CC), respectively. Both Ca-SZ materials showed no significant difference in most properties (p <, 0.05) when sintered at different temperatures. The fully sintered Ca-SZ is less hard compared to the ceria-stabilized tetragonal zirconia polycrystal (Ce-TZP) available on the market. Thus, Ca-SZ may be used as an alternative to the current zirconia available on the market for dental application.

The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [Cu2(C16H31O2)4(C10H8N2)2]·2CH3OH, contains one half-molecule of the metal complex solvated by a methanol molecule. In the complex, two of the metal atoms are doubly bridged by two monodentate bridging hexadecanoate ligands around a center of inversion. The square-pyramidal geometry around each CuII ion is completed by a terminal hexadecanoate O atom and two N atoms from a 2,2′-bipyridine ligand. The alkyl chains of the carboxylate ligands are arranged in a parallel manner with an all-trans conformation. In the crystal, a π–π interaction formed by the bipyridine rings [centroid–centroid separation = 3.7723 (17) Å] and intermolecular C—H...O hydrogen bonds link the complex molecules into infinite chains along the b axis. An O—H...O interaction between the methanol solvate and one of the carboxylate O atoms is also observed.

- Abstract
We present the results of three-dimensional femtoscopic analyses for charged and neutral kaons recorded by ALICE in Pb-Pb collisions at sNN−−−√ = 2.76 TeV. Femtoscopy is used to measure the space-time characteristics of particle production from the effects of quantum statistics and final-state interactions in two-particle correlations. Kaon femtoscopy is an important supplement to that of pions because it allows one to distinguish between different model scenarios working equally well for pions. In particular, we compare the measured 3D kaon radii with a purely hydrodynamical calculation and a model where the hydrodynamic phase is followed by a hadronic rescattering stage. The former predicts an approximate transverse mass (mT) scaling of source radii obtained from pion and kaon correlations. This mT scaling appears to be broken in our data, which indicates the importance of the hadronic rescattering phase at LHC energies. A kT scaling of pion and kaon source radii is observed instead. The time of maximal emission of the system is estimated using the three-dimensional femtoscopic analysis for kaons. The measured emission time is larger than that of pions. Our observation is well supported by the hydrokinetic model predictions.
