The construction project information for FM team control and maintenance is vital. However, current practices indicate significant data drops during the handover stage, leading to rework during FM systems integration of inaccurate, delivered information. Although challenges in BIM implementation are well studied, there is a current lack of best practices from FM industry experts highlighting challenges with a specific focus on the areas of the data drop. Therefore, the aim is to develop a framework that can reduce data loss and improve data management. The objectives include robust literature review on challenges of information loss during handover phase, management and frameworks; Adopting case study and workshops to identify information loss challenges, framework development and validation with industry experts. This paper adopted a grounded theory approach to explore literature and conducted case studies, including a series of semistructured interviews and a workshop with FM industry experts. The findings show the areas and causes of information loss and how to manage them through the developed information loss management framework (ILMF). Practical Applications: With the start of any type of project, planning and establishing rules from the beginning facilitates the smooth transition between different phases. Similarly, in construction projects, this research provides guidelines on how facility managers can manage information loss when exchanged through projects' stages. Furthermore, with the continuing advancements in the construction world, the facility management should be equipped with management and leadership guidelines as presented in the proposed framework to reduce data loss during handover. However, there are cost and contractual issues that prohibit any involvement of the facility manager in early project stages. The results of this study provide an identification of professional practices do's and do not's that facilitate the management and development of projects with the support of the latest technologies in the market. Ultimately, developing a guide that adapts international standards. The study's contribution to knowledge includes the development of a new information loss management framework that adopts BIM and ISO standards after exploring the existing data management frameworks in the literature that lack data loss management as a focus. The framework works as a guide for various stakeholders such as designers, contractors with a focus on FM to facilitates data coordination and management to reduce information loss, its creation and validation were conducted in collaboration with industry experts. Background: Common bile duct stones (CBDS) are estimated to be present in 10-20% of individuals with symptomatic gallstones. A variety of imaging modalities can be employed to identify the condition while management of confirmed cases of CBDS may involve endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), surgery and radiological methods of stone extraction. Clinicians are therefore confronted with a number of potentially valid options to treat individuals with suspected CBDS. Objective: To determine if ERCP sphincterotomy and extraction is effective in management of CBDS ranging from 10 to 20 mm or if surgical intervention is preferred in a sample of patients with common bile duct stones. Patients and Methods: In this study, the data of (30) patients with CBDS who presented for the first time to the department of General surgery at Ain Shams University hospitals, Cairo, Egypt. Were collected during the period of August 2021 to February 2022. Results: In the current study, all patients received proper pre-operative assessment and were operated on using same endoscope set and by experienced operators. Also, all patients were observed for post ERCP complications. The current study found that ERCP stone extraction in stones ranging from 10-20mm success rate shows no significant difference in comparison with results that were published in different recent researches studying ERCP success rate in different stone sizes. Conclusion: The current study found that success rate of ERCP in CBD stones extraction in stones ranging from 10-20 mm in size is similar to success rate in stone extraction compared to other studies not specifying stone size range. The Gulf region experiences a hot and arid climate that makes walkability almost impossible, leading to reliance on private vehicular transport that contributes towards high carbon footprint in various dense urban settlements within the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region. Public transport plays a vital role in the reduction of carbon emissions from the increasing amount of private transport. There is a gap, however, since pedestrians within hot and arid regions need to get to their various destinations under shaded conditions. This calls for shaded walkways during regeneration of the urban fabric to facilitate walking for transit and, where possible, walking for leisure. The paper addresses the need for walkable spaces; it looks at Qatar's regeneration as a case study, analyses efforts made in similar climatic conditions and provides adaptable solutions that can facilitate walkability within existing and urban regeneration. The paper proposes the use of both natural and artificial modes of shading, taking into account the challenges currently faced within hot and arid regions. A transport-oriented development (TOD) approach is proposed as an adaptive solution to formulate a strategy for shading transit routes/pathways for pedestrians. The strategy was conceptually developed and reviewed through a focus group with industry experts. The findings of the study can provide a strategy to improve walkability within the GCC region during regeneration projects. Walkability adds value to facilities and infrastructure while improving healthy lifestyle and reduces reliance on private modes of transport through improved connected spaces. Building Information Modelling (BIM) is increasingly deployed as part of the processes in Architecture, Engineering and Construction (AEC) industry projects. While the benefits of BIM have been extensively proclaimed, explicit justification in terms of direct cost savings for BIM implementation on real-life projects, particularly for clash detection BIM workstream, are not well documented. This paper proposes and demonstrates a methodology to prove how BIM-based clash detection leads to cost savings. A schema is developed based on literature review and industrial expertise to quantify cost savings achieved by the utilisation of BIM-based clash detection and resolution. This paper provides validation of the proposed schema on a major infrastructure project. The developed schema includes the categorisation of identified clashes based on stakeholder involvement and required actions. The validation used the estimated cost of clashes were those not resolved before site operations took place. This schema simplifies both the categorisation and cost estimation of clashes in design. Estimated savings yielded 20% of contract value using the schema, for the multi-million-dollar project case study, thus extending evidence of BIM savings and benefits. The schema improves the existing process and valorises clash detection, thus allowing stakeholders to conduct a cost-benefit analysis. In addition, the categorisation methodology allows prioritising on the most costly clashes, and draw lessons learnt for further projects.
